This follows a similar structure and shares its dry down in the same vein with Hermes Ambre Narguile, except that middle stage olibanum transition. Both are 9/10 IMO. The performance is out of this world, easily 24+hr as a skin scent without the ambery base breaking into pieces.

Like other companies in the market Ermenegildo Zegna has invested much more in the production of exclusive perfumes that certainly has a direct focus on the consumer of its luxurious tailor’s suits. To offer a new and even more premium collection than Essenze they have released Elements of Man – The Life Collection, which instead of focusing on specific notes interprets in an abstract way what the brand considers, in my opinion, as characteristics of Zegna man.
At first I confess that I twisted my nose for the launch of the collection and its price, however having the chance to smell and see all the perfumes personally I could see that the brand actually invested in a perfume that from the packaging to the aroma is sophisticated, sober and luxurious. Coherence is always an important factor when expanding the universe of a brand and this stands out in this new bet. In a general way the perfumes are well made and even if this is not stated there is a kind of leather theme that goes through all the perfumes but which is quite evident in one of them in particular, Passion.
Passion is not a dramatic perfume as the name may indicate but it is not a monotonous perfume either. It is a beautiful composition that explores rich aromas, giving space for their evolution on the skin. At first the scent stands out for its exotic scent – there is a slight animalic touch on the skin along with the aroma of a sophisticated and soft leather. You quickly realizes that much of the leather impression comes from the saffron, which forms a liqueur and slightly sweet harmony with cognac, rum and a sweet amber aroma. Slowly the aroma of tobacco takes the heart of the fragrance and new spices appear. Finally, the perfume becomes more discreet in the skin with a predominant base of woody aroma and a very proeminent mineral and incense frankincense.
You end with a feeling that in fact the brand has invested in the perfume formula, which is cohesive, rich and presents a beautiful progression. The Passion for Zegna is a feeling that translates to complexity and intensity, but never losing control and sobriety. It certainly is a good job.

To me, this smells like a beautifully refined version of A Lab On Fire’s “Liquidnight”. Both seem centered around incense (olibanum) and boozy saffron. Zegna’s creation is slightly more on the understated side, but is certainly no slouch. Longevity is perfect at 8+ hours and any more than 2 spritzes would be too much for me…but everybody has their own preference of projection. I prefer to draw a woman in, than reach out and grab her attention…but there is something to be said for reaching out, and it is definitely a valid choice.
As far as the scent, if you like boozy incense with enough saffron to draw references of clove and labdanum, then give this a go. It is expensive, but unique and beautiful enough to warrant the blood (at least for me).
    A+ on sex appeal.

The boldest one in the elements collection
Also very noticeable incense, but I couldn’t find it in the notes here
By the way, the dry down is addictive, cannot stop sniffing my wrist.
Love it & hope my girl loves it too.

Who do I have to contact in order to have this inducted into the Italian Hall of Fame? When was the last time you took a Zegna seriously? I’ve always thought Zegna plays it too safe. Indonesian Oud is safe oud, Italian Bergamot is safe bergamot, their Bourbon Vanilla is safe vanilla and the list goes on…but Passion?…that’s another story…a story worth telling. This is a combination of Krigler’s Establish Cognac 66 and Tiziana Terenzi’s Laudano Nero. The more I sniff, the darker this becomes. At this point, my world is recognizably sepia. It’s crystal clear that this whole shebang is centered around some gunky amber and Brandy. This isn’t that corner store rotgut booze, the cognac in conjunction with rum adds another amber dimension(almost cinnamon like) while increasing the compositions flavor profile. There’s enough olibanum here to satisfy the “loafers with no socks” crowd. To love Oriental fragrances and not have this in your collection is just plain stupid.

This one could be a best seller of the line, because it is boozy, but nicely. It is a sweetish and spicy blend of strong alcohol and incense with tons of nuances: saffron, leathery, tobacco.

Stopped in the Zegna boutique in Phipps Plaza and discovered this wonderful line of fragrances to accompany all the luxurious offerings of E-Zegna. Lots of depth in Passion. Warm and powerful. Boozy caramel cut with an earthy like resin, presumably the olibanum. Big time projection. This is not a subtle or subdued offering. One spray and I couldn’t let my wrist down the entire evening. Impressive.
