Description

“A touch of spice is what makes our daily life special. Bolder zest can make it exceptional.
And a bouquet of tastefully combined, colourful, exotic spices may cause one’s heart to skip a beat and bring truly phenomenal, memorable moments into existence.

Similarly…

Fruity, floral, funky or incensy oud oils can make our daily life special.
Custom, distilled, wild, spicy Borneo oil can make it exceptional.
And a tastefully crafted perfume, carefully blended with love, using several custom distilled, wild, spicy Borneo oud oils may cause one’s heart to skip a beat and bring a truly phenomenal, memorable olfactory experience to one’s life.

Therefore, we present to you… Oud Picante!

Oud Picante is a dressed-up, exclusive, pure, wild Borneo agarwood oil distilled by Russian Adam. It is adorned in various essential oils, absolutes, tinctures and extracts that soften, expand and tune its character to suit the most wild olfactory desire. It is custom-distilled oud that has been further tailored to propel its psychoactive abilities to an even higher degree.

This Olfactory Composition is all about spiced wild oud. It opens with an explosion of zesty, multidimensional molecules flying in all directions; a shocking, yet smooth and extremely pleasant experience. It is a result of combining the pure essences of cumin, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom and clove, and placing them at the head of the composition.

Upon entering into the vibrating heart of this blend, one faces rare, wild Borneo oud. Slightly green, resinous, tangy and raw, it is also spicy in its own unique way. Other ingredients add to its richness and expose layer upon layer of resinous, ambery, slightly smoky character. Nuances of tobacco, coffee, dark labdanum, opoponax resinoid, spikenard and carrot seed interplay, complementing and supporting each other… culminating in an aura that is robust and highly attractive.

Oud Picante is a scent for the mature and dominant person who is looking for the very best spicy sensation, coupled with a thick and heady, genuine, wild oud oil experience.

Oud Picante… the spice of life.” – a note from the brand.

Oud Picante was launched in 2017.

My #1 fragrance in my collection right now. This fragrance is outstanding and feel very lucky to have nabbed a bottle!

The (opening) top notes for OUD PICANTE are best described as, PUNGENT, PIERCING, IN-YOUR-FACE, BOLD, DARING, INTRUSIVE, UNAPOLOGETIC, TACKY, ANIMALIC, MEDICINAL, SOMEWHAT-FECAL, IRRITATING, and INTIMIDATING. Upon first sniff / whiff, you would basically say: “Oh, hell, no!” –– Without a doubt, you quickly notice the “Picante” aspect of the fragrance. The word, PICANTE, signifies: SPICE / HOT, and you certainly get that, along with the above mentioned characteristics and aspects. However, If you’re daring enough, not to quickly dismiss its overall nature upon first sniff / whiff, as your nose might also detect some wooden furniture-spray-like scent, which might not be surprising, considering an Oud based fragrance, you’re then about to get the surprise of your life. Here are the note breakdown:
Top Notes: Cumin, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Clove, Nutmeg
Heart Notes: Wild Borneo oud oil, Carrot seed, Spikenard, Tobacco, Coffee
Base notes: Opoponax, Bengal sandalwood, Muhuhu, Costus, Fossil amber, Labdanum
When it gets into the mid notes within 2-5 minutes, it starts to unfold to some other aspects, yet dominated by strong, pungent aromas, you get a better understanding of the fragrance, and you let your guard down a bit, willing to give it a chance to demonstrate its likeness, intention, and friendliness, and at this point, it does not disappoint. You start to wonder why fragrances are made this way, and you start to question to intention of the Perfumer(s), but with a smile on your face, as magic starts to unfold. You get pleasant aromas, along with the dominant notes of wild borneo oud oil, tobacco, apoponax, and labdonum. Throughout the life of the fragrance, you witness pure joy, lick-trading, and tango-dancing among accords, nuances, and notes, forming accolades, bringing the fragrance to its peak performance. If you’re not into Oud fragrances, I’d suggest to stay away from this one, as it has nothing of somewhat-out or oud-like in it. It’s hardcore oud, yet quite wearable, due to the well-blended, unusual note mixtures. It’s not made for sensitive noses. As for overall performance, it’s quite impressive. It has excellent projection, sillage, and longevity. This Extrait de Parfum fragrance has some strong similarity in its development and dry-down phases to, OUD TOUCH by Franck Oliver, as well as, OUD EDITION by Jacques Bogart, especially the latter.
Oh, you’ll certainly be noticed! It’s borderline beast mode. It’s not full-blown beast mode, as it retains a certain level of subtleness by other notes. To greatly benefit from wearing this fragrance, according to its compositional nature of “Extrait de Parfum,” it must be properly, minimally applied to certain pulse-point areas of the skin, typically the neck and wrists. It’s better suited for cool weathers or Winter season.
As usual, understand that, different factors, along with skin chemistry affect scents, so results might vary on different individuals. As the saying goes: DIFFERENT FOLKS, DIFFERENT STROKES.
On a final note, with respect to well-known Fragrance Reviewers and Fragrance Aficionados on Youtube and other Channels, I’m neither an Expert in fragrances nor a Connoisseur. I just describe fragrances to the best of my ability. I’m an Amateur, eager to learn.

Spicy, sweet, dusty, dark chocolate powder. I went just one spray from a small decant (which was probably half a spray of the bottle), and it projected very well for the first 3 hours and lasted around 8 hours on the skin detectable without me actively searching for it. Absolutely brilliant. I did not find this super unique, but the quality is undeniably up there.
    8/10

As per usual, shame on the hype producing, fragrance “reviewers” out there. Some folks billed Russian Adam, Areej, Oud Picante as the absolute future in perfumery… I say, let’s let the greats retire before we hand off that title. I’ve dabbled in essential oil mixing, a little clove here, sprinkle of cinnamon there, and topped off with a splash of sandal and other woods. That’s what I get here, a hodge podge of notes meshed together and the only accord that pops on my skin is cinnamon and clove. Anyone that loathe the notes might as well run, very fast. It’s spicy, if that’s the Oud speaking to me then I am deaf, or dead. This smells “amateur” to say the very least.

Oud Picante paints a golden horizon on my skin with exotic spices crowning the majestic borneo oud in a mesmerizing frame of ambery resins and fiery cinnamon dancing it’s way into the heart, where there’s huge presence of tobacco, dressed in various aromatic compounds and what I perceive as a fruity tea type of accord, creating a semisweet honeyed cloud of smoke.
Listed cumin and cloves alongside the multifaceted borneo oud contribute to the noticeable presence of animalic nuances in the journey to the base of Oud Picante.
The merging of powers chosen by Russian Adam for this composition portrays the many facets of this magical elixir known as oud, the spices are packed with depth and surely elevate the character of the blend to another level but they’re simultaneously well behaved, the oud is unadulterated, rich, flamboyant and dramatic.

    Overly sweet spicy oud.
This has overly used cinnamon that made it sticky sweet. It has cloves, tobacco, oud, coffee, opoponax, amber, labdanum, & cardamom.
This could be a hit for the ones who likes spices, yet spicy oud style fragrance. It didn’t work well on me.

    I own bottle number 064.
Challenging perfume to be used on it’s own.
Most likely I’ll just use this to layer my other perfumes.

So you are at a house party and your friends “Emir”, “Opus VI” and “Laudano Nero” sneak off together and 9 months later Oud Picante comes along and everyone is fighting over custody.
What a sublime gem this is. Forget the note breakdown, I get a sweet savory oud, a rich estate dark chocolate, a honey-tobacco, some kind of semi-sweet amber, and some baking spices with just enough hints of cumin and pimento to make this more than a sweet gourmand oud.
The performance is outstanding at first and calms down from “sospiro classica” potent, to a still respectable “hour ago-sprayed Tom ford Amber Absolute” level of potency.
About $285 for a 50ml seems pricey but for this kind of quality juice with this performance and longevity: yeah it’s worth it.
By the way the juice is indeed that dark red-brown color like old blood. Do not get this on your whites.
    ***
    Scent 8.5/10
Projection 9/10 for 30 minutes, 6/10 for the next hour, and 4/10 for the next 4 hours.
Sillage 9/10 right after application to the 45minute mark. An enormous train that calms to a 5/10 for the next hour, then a more intimate 3/10 for the next few hours. Excellent.
Longevity: 8/10 I did think this would be a 12-15 hour juice but it does wear down on my skin after 7-9 hours to where I would feel comfortable tossing a couple sprays of aomething lighter on in the morning after an all night cocktail party, and making my way home.
Would I buy a bottle? Yes. Hard yes. Will be doing so soon and at this concentration I expect it to last longer than I have occasion for it. Sample first for yourself though because I’m in love with it but my two most reached for scents are Tobbaco Oud, and Interlude man so please try this before buying.

I´m in love with this! It´s my favourite of the four. Hot, dark spices and sexy Borneo Oud. This is absolutely shocking!. Depending of the amount of the fragance I applied this have different opening and drydown phases. Also have a multidimensional explosión flying in all directions, maybe by its complex composition: sometimes I feel it more dark, other more sweet but always with a touch of hot spicy. All the elements are really well done and mixed.
**The only think I don´t like nothing is the new bottle design. Maybe as I work as a designer I pay too much attention to this, but seriously.. THE SQUARE FORM ARRUINED IT!. Why did they change it? The old versión had a more oganic form, rounded and beautiful, and the most important thing for a good design: MORE FUNCTIONAL AND COMFORTABLE FOR THE HAND!. In conclusión: aesthetically beautiful and usefull.
The old wooden plug also represented for me better the quality craftsmanship of these wonderful fragrances so well made with so much love. The new metal plug seems to me so cold.
Design is the hallmark of the house. Someone who has never smelled Areej, his first impression will be based on the design, presentation, logo (a great job on the latter). I love the Areej logo! (this reminds me of the beautiful and ornamented wooden arabian windows).
I know this is a forum about perfumes. But it’s not just the content that counts, a good look is essential. The one without the other is empty.
The biggest improvement in this aspect is the atomizer which is much better now!!.
But after all, this is a beautiful perfume that will make you smell the forearm again and again when you apply it, and you will never feel the same as the time before. That’s when you’ll say: What the hell is this? And then, and then you’ll say: Wow! I love it!.

Nice spices! This is more wearable and more masculine than Oud Zen, and to a certain extent, more interesting. The only one I’d buy from the new 4.

Received this a few days ago and my first time wearing. Sillage and longevity are oustanding. I get an oud and tobacco but also after drydown especially some cinammon and clove but also many others that I can’t put my finger on. I like the animalic qualities of this, it stands apart from the more mainstream ouds. The highest quality you can get IMO, and Russian Aadam had done a tremendous job with this one as well as all the others.

I’m rather impressed with this, though I’m not sure I’d say I like it. The first fifteen minutes are an olfactory assault with oud acting as the tip of the spear. If you’ve ever seen the movie Elf, when Buddy blasts the fruit spray directly into his mouth – yeah, that was me at first.
I never really get any of the spices listed in the notes, and that’s disappointing. For me, it’s all a dense, chocolatey oud, a dry tobacco and musk (perhaps the costus, since musk isn’t a note?). Maybe some coffee.
The quality is undeniable, and performance – especially during the first hour – is thermonuclear. But I’d like it a whole lot more if the animalic / indolic qualities were dialed down, and the spiciness dialed up.

Ok, first one here.. I received my samples and I was forced to try this first as it spilled a bit from the vial and traces were all over the plastic envelope.. as soon as I opened it I have been bombarded by Oudy sweet and sour and peppery spices that really made me say “WOW”.
This is the cousin of Oud Zen. The smart ass cousin, as it immediately shows you the dirty face without you even know it.
Dirty is the most suitable adjective that comes to my mind.
Dirty and playful, it kind of gives you the finger. It kind of shouts all its power straight in the face. It is a concert of lazy prostitute spices (the maidservants) that play hide and seek with their master (the Oud)… and the end of it all, the master possesses all of them and they like this.
    Not for everyone, everyday wearing.
    Sexy as hell
    Soon in my collection
Keep up the good work, Russian Adam!
