A very well done oud indeed, quality all the way in a mesmerizing combination of oud and rose, it is very sensual and passionate, longevity and projection on this one are through the roof! best worn winter nights.

I absolutely love oud when it’s used appropriately and I am usually very lucky that most fragrances work with my body’s chemistry.
On me, Oud Palao was initially gorgeous and as I walked around town the warm wafts of scent had me in awe and thinking I would need to add this to my wish list.
However, after around 4-5 hours, the scent dramatically changed and became almost sour or off. I could no longer smell oud or any other notes, just a really pungent mess and it took me a few attempts to wash it off completely.
I’m guessing it’s my chemistry but who knows. Sadly, not for me!

An unusual Rose-Oud combo. Oud is leathery and animalic sans the stinkiness animalic ouds can have. The rose is on the jammy side and reminds me a lot of the rose in Zoologist Camel. Camphor is very musty and has a impact on the whole without smelling like an old closet with mothballs. Tobacco works with the camphor: it is a dry note here. There is a touch of amberiness that wraps it together. Overall I’m getting a unique musty-spicy take on Rose-Oud, and I love it.

Love this. I can wear it alone or combine it. It adds such an exotic depth when combined with sweet or floral fragrances. Love layering it with CK Euphoria, Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir or Elizabeth Taylor Passion (“women’s” versions of Euphoria and Passion). This is my favorite from Diptyque.

Excellent Oud perfume and very good performance. Oud, rose, patchouli, sandalwood are all playing in harmony.
It has Middle Eastern vibe, there’s no doubt.
    Just amazing juice.

I’m noticing some recent reviewers are not liking the rose note.
This is my favorite Oud fragrance, but I also do not like the rose in the newer formulations.
Yes, if you can purchase the 2015 batches, it had much less of the rose.
I’m not sure when they made the rose stronger, 2016, or 2017.
If you can get the batch code from the seller, you can look up the date of production.

So yesterday I went to my local perfumery to compare this to Black Afgano, and what an interesting comparison this was! (comparison down below)
Oud Palao is NOT your friendly, inoffensive oud that you can find around.
It starts off (on me, at least) with very animalic oud, in a indolic-jasmin kind of way, but not much later it is joined by rose and maybe patchouli.
In the middle phase, the oud gets overcome by flowers (rose in the notes, but I could swear there was some jasmin in the mix). The flowery notes are very, veeery sweet and intense, a bit cloying (but bear in mind that it was a hot day, it could have behaved differently in cooler weather).
In the drydown, oud comes out again but it is less animalic, flowers are still there but less sweet. In the very end, it is a powdery musk-vanilla-sandalwood-rose-rum scent.
It lasts literally forever, and projection is very big, so be careful because not only are these notes already pretty intense on their own, they are also strong projection-wise.
All in all it is a great quality perfume, but there are three problems for me: 1) the oud is too stinky 2)the rose is too sweet and cloying 3)with such notes, projection is too much. Again, it was a hot day and I was going around with this on one arm and Black Afgano on the other, so you can imagine the result 😀 I still highly recommend you to try it because it is good quality and the price is on the cheaper side.
Fun fact: there is indeed a rum note, because at dinner I was eating Malaga ice cream with rum-soaked raisins, and I noticed that it tasted like… Oud Palao!! Then I understood why! Weird.
    COMPARISON
1)Oud Palao changes during the performance, whereas Black Afgano is linear
2)OP is much stronger, but BA is still pretty strong and Long lasting as well
    3) OP is animalic/skanky, whereas BA is NOT skanky
    4) OP is more sirupy and tends to be cloying due to the rose, while BA is dry
5)OP gets powdery and shows almost no oud in the drydown, while BA’s drydown is basically like the whole performance, not powdery, just more subtle
    6) OP is cheaper, when comparing price/quantity, but both ouds are good and smell Natural
    7) both unisex, but OP is more feminine
    Sorry for the long post!

    Ehhhh no!!
I was going to blind buy this. Thankfully I didn’t.
This stinks. It is super heavy and stinks of heavy and suffocating tar like oud and roses. Heavy and deep rose oil. Almost rotten.
How can anybody want to smell like this?
No no no….. not for me and I hope nobody at work or in my friend circle gets this.
    Sorry Diptyque.

There are some geniuses cooking the pots at Diptyque. All their fragrances are superb.
Oud Palao obviously is a Oudy fragrance…a oud/rose combo, as to rose/oud combo. It has a base of my skanky Laotian oud which is heavenly to my nose. Many say it has close similarities to dior oud ispahan and I must agree; in fact I would say better. The ratio of oud to rose and the type of oud used made the difference for me. A beast of a fragrance but manageable with appropriate sprays. Bulgarian Rose, tobacco, labdanum, patchouli, vanilla, rum all mixed up in the the most unique way for the one who would dare to try. There are different surprises at each stage but the oud and rose are still king. Absolutely worth trying.

Ugh, just received a 10 ml of this in a swap yesterday and I’m so happy with it. I adore oud and honestly I love them all, but mmm I really like this one. The initial blast is a little off putting, but only for a few moments, then it’s great. Btw, I’m at the hospital working for 13 hours and you could still smell this on my arm–even after washing it off.

I normally get along well with oud fragrances, but this one is an exception. The camphor comes across very strong in the first hour, and the whole thing has a very medicinal, herbal vibe. Now, in terms of composition, it really is lovely. It’s impeccably well blended and it’s more gentle than most oud fragrances I’ve worn, which may be ideal for some. (This does mean that the longevity falls short though.) It’s objectively not a bad scent, but it’s not at all to my tastes unfortunately.

  12. :

    4 out of 5

much softer than my holy grail of rose and oud, oud ispahan. therefore, a perfect alternative to the dirty beast for daytime wear and summer wear. oud palao is less medicinal as well, less sharp and has a warmer patchouli dry down which works beautifully with the rose and oud. a gorgeous alternative that is sample worthy. not a good option for blind buy.

I admire Diptyque’s ability to make natural smelling perfumes, and this oud-rose with a tobacco and rum opening is one of the easiest to wear in its genre.
I’m not typically a fan of tobacco, but here it’s blended well. With the addition of other notes, sandalwood and patchouli in the drydown, this takes me on a trip through the Middle East. But instead of staying in budget hotels, I’m staying in a 5 star resort, this perfume is that smooth.
I’m surprised to read that some find this feminine, as I feel this leans masculine. A Fall and Winter masterpiece with stellar longevity and good projection. This is not a synthetic, linear blast of oud like those from Montale/Mancerra. If you appreciate quality oud, check this one out.

Soft sylvan sandalwood/oud. This smells wonderful! It has an intense powdery accord, that blends all the notes into a benchmark scent. One that is the archetype for all perfumes with this kind of woody powder with floral highlights. Easy to wear and universally appealing, it lasts a long time. I can smell it on my clothes for days. It is one of those scents that you can wear anytime, anywhere and everyone loves it on you. Modern powder scent done to perfection.

One of the best and more well-rounded ouds. This is great for people who know nothing about oud and want something pleasing that won’t scare them off.

It’s been going for almost 72 hours on my skin at this point. It now smells similar to Dior Homme Parfum. I am not joking, i can still smell it on my skin after 72 hours.

You’re roughing it in a thick forest, setting up camp with your loved ones. It’s late fall and it had been raining for the past few days, so your campsite is still damp all over. It’s also dense with rotten, fallen tree trunks and dead leaves, which give you a thick and organic atmosphere. There aren’t too many mosquitoes out, but you decide to plant some camphor candles to repel unwanted insects from trespassing. The ladies, who hate that smell, put out some tiny vanilla candles in an attempt to mask it. You shrug, wondering if that defeats the purpose, and you start to get to work on making a fire. You leave camp and quickly give up, disappointed in that you can only find damp logs and branches. After returning and dropping off your findings, you decide it’s time to take a break. You unfold a chair and sit down, pull out a cigar, and run it under your nose. Oud Palao by Diptyche.

    two words- “Beautiful, Beast”
It’s dirty, raw, rugged but also… classy?
I smelled it, didn’t like it but couldn’t stop smelling it, started liking it, bought a bottle, returned it, couldn’t shake this smell, it stuck with me, months after I got rid of it I could still remember exactly how it smelled, got another sample and realized how much I loved this scent, bought another bottle and it’s going to be a staple in my rotation going forward. This is a grower, it gets better and better, I love this more every time I wear it. This is one VERY polarizing fragrance, it took me a long time and many wearings to get where I am now with how I feel about it. It’s been a roller coaster.
Not just another rose/oud combo. This is dark, earthy, woody, floral and animalic. I really wish I could be more descriptive as far as note breakdown but this was s one of the most difficult scents I’ve got my nose on. The only advice I can give is don’t dismiss this too quickly if you don’t like it, you may not come around to liking it but you may do a complete 180 like I did. Over the last year or so, Diptyque has become one of my favorite houses and still rising on my list. Philosykos, L’Ombre Dans, Eau Mage, L’Autre, Benjoin Boheme, the list of loves keeps growing the more time I spend with this brand. You get the niche quality scents without the disgustingly ridiculous price tag.

I gotta say although TamDao is still my personal favorite Diptyque, Oud Palao is an even more impressive, desirable perfume.
Starts with strong Bulgarian rose. Rose fades in about 30mins and gradually covered by tobacco and oud. And it is strong leathery, smoky oud all the way down. I’ve seen plenty of orientals ruined by too much patchouli at the end note but not Palao.
To my own thought i think it’s a fragrance for mature and sophisticated characteristics. Not a save choice, even it might be surprisingly suitable in some cases, for young ladies. But it is absolutely great for gentlemen in all ages.

  22. :

Though I am absolutely not a fan of Diptique perfumes but I have to admit that this Oud is the best I have tried. As all ouds in perfumery, this one also needs special mood.
This oud is rather delicate. Yes, it is oud, without a doubt. No sharp roses or something which softens it too much but still it is the only oud about which I can say “delicate”. It differs from many other ouds because it is soft and light (the only time in my life when I can say such words about Oud). If you want to start with ouds but you are afraid – start with this one. Probably you will decide to continue the journey.
Longevity is great – 10/10. Volatility is 8/10 what makes perfume not annoying. All in all – try on your skin. Probably today is the right time. But even if not, give it a chance.

I don’t even know what to say about this one. It is so good. Just so, so good. Strong oud, not barnyard or animalic, but just so good. There are so many oud and rose combos out there, but this one is my favorite. Wearable and strong, unisex and perfect for cold weather.
If you aren’t an oud lover you should probably skip this one, though. Big love for me, top five for sure.

Oud Palao combines the signature scents of East and West.
Rich, dark, woody, and resinous. It has a slightly medicinal edge in the opening and the dry down is a beautiful rich rose.. yet creamy throughout the entire development.
It’s something between Aqua di Parma Colonia Ambra and Oud Ispahan by Dior but definitely more wearable making it perfect for a signature fragrance even for the office.
Smells great, long lasting, plenty of compliments.
To my opinion one of the most natural and classy smelling ouds in western perfumery.

    a wonderful rose oud.
rose lingers a bit longer and becomes honey-dipped, but without being too sweet or gourmandish – in the same way like honey in chergui by lutens.
actually the honey-tobacco accord is so wonderful and i assume this makes it work so well in both of these masterpieces.
dark, sexy, voluptuous fragrance with amazing longevity.

I tried Oud Palao for the first time today. Just 1 spray on my wrist and it was enough to make me squint my eyes. It’s a really strong fragrance with animalic quality that’s really unforgiving if u spray this in public; so I just leave it there and decided that it’s too much. Then after awhile it turned into somewhat woody and it smells like incense in the most pleasing way. My skin naturally eats up fragrance like nobody else I ever known and this scent lingers for atleast another 8 hours even after I took a shower.
I would definitely get this if I’m living in place with colder climate, the longevity itself already make this a purchase worth your money.

This is a great realistic oud fragrance.
I heard about fecal smelling Oud. My first impression here was, this smells like crap, not interested 🙂 Then a couple minutes after spraying, it calms down and the other notes come in to make a very pleasant accord.
It reminded me of Acqua di Parma Oud, but this has so much better quality of notes, and very distinctive. I am 61 years old with a mature taste, and this is bottle worthy for me because it is so well blended and distinctive.
The Oud is genuine and raw smelling, with a nice smoky quality. I never liked this kind of rose note, but the Oud is so good, I can live with the rose which isn’t so strong.
There is a smooth and warm sandalwood here, which softens the coarser Oud note.
In the opening there is a pleasant medecinal accord, the raw oud with the rum I think it is.
This is for more mature, or seasoned tastes perhaps.
Without looking at the notes my first impression was that there are some fresh citrusy notes blended in. This is fresh, maybe the camphor which blends into a nice accord with the Rose and rum. The rose is allmost imperceptible to me in the opening; But the nuance of rum and rose add a bit, for a slightly sweet freshness.
This is just a bit sweet, mostly dry.
Nice smooth sandalwood here, and some nice green camphor, not too much, and not very boozy. You never loose that distinctive Laotian Oud as the unique center piece. The quality rum and camphor accord really nicely balance the darker, earthy, dirty Oud/ Patch/ Tobacco accord. Allso Diptyque lists frankincense and Labdanum, very smooth.
Although the Oud fades some, and it evolves to become more noticably sweet, the rum and rose become more evident.
This is kind of an aquired taste, but a really solid quality fragrance. I don’t add to a large collection unless I have nothing similar, I will some day get a bottle because it is so unique.
This reminds me a bit of MFK Oud Satin Mood, which I couldn’t wear as the rose is to feminine. With Diptyque Oud, the openning to mid mid, it leans masculine, then late mid too drydown it’s right in the middle, or very slightly feminine leaning.
The best fragrances blend contrasting aspects, like MFK Lumiere Noire. Diptyque Oud Palao does it so well; the raw, dark and dry oud, with the floral, green camphor and slightly sweet rum on a smooth creamy sandalwood base, awsome !
I have sampled MFK Ouds, Cashmere and Velvet are their eastern type of ouds, as is Oud Palao.
The MFK is nice, but the Oud smells sharp and synthetic.
Our Palao is better than Amouage or MFK Ouds, for me.
PS: I wrote my review in the first hour when the Oud is still skanky, and I liked it. It does evolve to a slightly feminine, sweeter, more typical oud/ rose combo.
So I may not be getting some soon, unless I find the older formulation that stays skanky longer.
After my review from a 2 ml sample, I have received a 10 ml Dyptique vile, and the rose does stay more hidden throughout, making this allmost perfect for me, and will be in my top 5.
It has a similar construction as Creed Royal Mayfair, where the rose stays hidden. Maybe the 10 ml vials for sale on eBay may be from older formulation, 2015.
An eBay seller was able to give me the batch code, and I was able to purchase the older formulation with less rose. 2015.
Rating: 8.5/10 (new formulation with more Rose)
10/10 (old formulation with less Rose)
    God bless. John 3:16

This is a beautiful, rich fragrance, with a LOT of “oomph!” Anyone old enough to remember the old Brylcreem commercial slogan, “A little dab’ll do ya,” will understand what I mean, when I say that applies to this fragrance! This is one to spray into the air (no more than 4 times) and walk through. If you try to apply as you would any other perfume, you’ll asphyxiate yourself – and everyone around you. For HOURS!!
Using the walk-thru method: Delectable. Anything more than that: Detestable!

This is an old-skool oriental, reminding me of all those 1980s power-fragrances. Very strong oud is mixed with bulgarian rose and tobacco; the scent is intense, mature, exceptionally long lasting. Completely unisex. Thank god I cannot detect either pee or poo here – just gorgeous herbs and flowers.

    3 out of 5

Mmmmmm. Rich, exotic, enveloping spice and deep dark rose, with a surprisingly butch oud kick. This is one that makes its presence felt: much, much bigger sillage than is usual for Diptyque, and reasonably long lasting too (still detectable on skin after 5-6hrs). It’s definitely womanly rather than girlish; I usually dislike sweet and floral things, and the rose is almost too much for me, but it’s got enough skank and grunt to be human and sexy rather than plastic-fantastic feminine. If this smell were furniture, it would be a huge, well-upholstered chesterfield sofa in deep crimson velvet … and you’d just want to collapse into it and stay there all day and all night. The one that sent me down the oud rabbit hole…
Also worth noting: as other people here say – the longer you keep it, the more the rose mellows and the oud deepens and sharpens – making the ‘fume even more decided and characterful overall, in my view. I’ve had mine about 18 months and the change is noticeable (just was well I like the direction it’s going in!) – I don’t know what longer wait times would do for it.

Not my favorite oud. The fecal note is too pronounced in this one. I prefer Dior’s Leather Oud, which also starts off a bit fecal. I find the fecal beginning acceptable in Leather Oud, but not here. Somehow it’s different to Oud Palao.
The combination of poop and leather in Leather Oud makes me think of horses and saddles, while the combination of poop and roses in Oud Palao makes me think of…OMG who the hell combines poop and roses in a fragrance??? (maybe a rose gardener who puts manure on their rose beds and misses the combined smell of both)

I reviewed this before and said it is my favorite Oud thus far. This is still true. I also mentioned that you will arrive at something brilliant when you cross this with Eau Rose or L’Ombre, the L’Ombre mix showing the most lasting power…
Recently I mixed with Le Labo Noir 29 and mmm wow.. its an interesting mix that compliments both I think… Give it a go if you have them.

    Quite decent? It’s plenty!!
Smelling the cap had this juice in my nose for 3 hours. It overpowers everything around.

As has been said before by others, this holds a similarity to Dior’s Leather Oud. The opening is less brutal. With the absence of Civet,Honey and with the softening effect of the Rose, it holds a prettier, less elegantly Masculine view of Oud. Much more acceptable for the girls to wear and certainly ravishing on the already beautiful SA that introduced me to it’s charm. Projection is average in comparison to the Big Bad One.
One thing is that several wears has changed my view of Longevity. The rubber is unrelenting and the vanilla patch pops up time to time adding a Feminine charm. I could wear this to work ( all girls) without causing a stir.
Up my rating on this, cause it’s so damn wearable as Neo says. Compliments I get rarely, however, more than one woman have said they like it’s scent on a man.

Totally fallen in love with this one. So much that after my sample ran out i purchased a full bottle. Sadly and to my huge disappointment it does not even come close. Either i wasnt lucky with the batch (17336026 / ref.OUDP75) or Diptyque changed the formula. Although it is possible that the natural contents being used in Oud Palao underlie change it is still obvious, at least to my personal perception, that Diptyque changed their formula for OP.
    1. The sharpness and strong animalic/cowshed-like leathery beginning is blended out almost completely.
    2. The vanilla kicks in only after 5min of its development.
    3. The longevity and projection were highly reduced.
What is left is a generic and boring oud/rose/vanilla scent to please mainstream needs and last but not least Diptyques moneybag. OP stood out in Diptyques Portfolio as being bold, loud and distinctively 80s-esque… and thats what i loved it for. It still smells good but that certainly isnt my only aspiration to purchase a fragrance. I went to my local Diptyque retailer yesterday and got myself another 2ml-sample to solidify my suspicion furthermore and what more can i say… its the same sad story.
    29-08-2017:
I made peace with the current version. Longevity is still above average and i enjoy it now for what it is. Still one of the most natural smelling oudhs in western perfumery.

I have been wearing this everywhere for a few days now… I have not tried many Oud based frags but out of the few I have tried this is by far the best.. I like this on it’s own but when I layer with Diptyques L’Ombre, I get the most brilliant scent… It layers slightly better when I mix it with Eau Rose but that doesn’t last long enough… I have to get past the early stage of L’Ombre which is a terrible Rosemary x Caraway like scent, and then I smell like a sexy man for hours. I really can’t stand the top notes in L’Ombre but its gone pretty quickly… a new scent develops within 15 minutes and I’m left with a smoky Oud Rose that is BRILLIANT.
Mr. or Mrs. Diptyque need to mix this together and put it in is own bottle @ 2XOud Palao to 1X L’Ombre… or make a parfum for Eau Rose and mix with Oud Palao…
    aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah I love life

This is good stuff. Big, sweet, full blown rose at opening, which becomes more complex after a few minutes as the oud and sandalwood make their presence felt. The patchouli gives this a slight ‘dirty’ edge, which I really like, and the tobacco adds a lovely depth. It reminds me of a scent that I had in the 80’s, but I can’t for the life of me think which one. Longevity is pretty good too – projection lasted a good 5 hours, then it sits closer to the skin, but still delivering beautiful wafts of rose and oud. I love it – thanks for the sample Purecaramel!

Fragrance2016, “ooh-dah”..? That sounds interesting. From living in Saudi Arabia for some time, I would say it should be pronounced rhyming with “food”. In Arabian it is usually pronounced coming out as “aood”…

I’m fainting with ecstasy right now. Oud Palao is just so magnetizing. My first sampling of this fragrance was a little challenging, but I think that day I had been sniffing light, girly frags all day and this jarred me out of my seat at the time when I overapplied.
Tonight, Oud Palao has seduced me, opening with a beautiful, rich oud entangled in a mesmerizing vein of camphor — narcotic, aromatic and penetrating. Rose then meets these opening notes and in this iteration, it’s masculine, spicy, robust and velvety, perhaps a little dusty but not overwhelmingly floral and perfectly accented with a musky labdanum.
The base notes are dry and woody: aromatic light rum aged in oak coupled with a swatch of plush patchouli. Tobacco is not discernable to my nose.
Oud Palao is truly remarkable with an enthusiastic nod from the husband who is a Chanel Bleu type of guy. Guess what you’re getting for your birthday honey. Our first full-bottle worthy Diptyque. And yes, you have to share (sneaky, sneaky).

I have only great things to say about this fragrance. At first, it was slightly challenging to my nose. It is definitely not what you can call a ‘safe’ scent. Initially, a big hit of Oud which may be off putting to some, but after a few minutes, a soft, beautiful, almost wet rose makes an appearance and is there to stay. The tobacco is not a sweet tobacco at all, but instead, more like a realistic wet shag tobacco from a tin. Mixed with the rose and the extra dirtiness of the Oud, it’s absolutely gorgeous. The other notes can be sensed, but they are far in the background.
Performance is great. You can smell this fragrance all day when you apply it in the morning and the projection is strong for the first 4-5 hours. Once it becomes a lighter skin scent, the scent really changes. It has a nice bitterness that still smells of the faintest rose. Quite nice. It’s got potential to move into my top 10 soon.

Such a beautiful deep sweet and intense much milder than. Oud ispahan by dior but very similar. Very classy even though i have a 250ml bottle of oud ispahan i still want oud palao. Very unique and high quality fragrance try it and see ignore the blatantly derogatory reviews of this beauty.

Smells just like a campfire to me on first spray and didn’t really change much. I like this smell, but I don’t want to wear it. Would be a nice candle for cooler months.

    It smells like crap.
    It last about 10-12 hours.
    Sillage 6 feet easy.
    Still not for me.

To my nose Oud palao is mainly about tobacco and rose. Initially there is a burst of a medicinal oud. This oud settles, but keeps lingering in the backgruond in a wonderful way. Tonka swetens the composition while i think rum and patchouli darkens the tobacco and contributes to the impression of oud .
Oud to me is of two kinds, the stronger more barnyard – blue cheese – animal version that for example Rania J frequently uses, and then there is the more medicinal version so common in western perfumes with oud in their name. The oud in Oud Palao is definitely of the latter kind.
In the drydown Oud Palo shifts to a wonderful woody vanilla with a hint of oud and tobacco, suitable for most occasions. So if the first hour of wearing Oud Palao calls for some caution the drydown is instead very friendly and inoffesive.
To me Oud Palo is the most interesting fragrance from Diptyque I have tried so far, and it is definitely full bottle worthy.

Don’t know whether it’s a masochism, but whenever this masterpiece causes a passable headache I feel more than satisfied and when the heaviness of the smell covers me I feel overconfident and proud – totally happy, totally me.

I’m wearing this today. I received a .34 fl oz bottle of this with a purchase of L’Eau De L’Eau, which I only purchase because I recently had an incident that caused me to lose all of my Euax Friaches. I had been familiar with Oud Palao after falling for Volutes and the comparison, relationship assign to them(tobacco notes)
When I first smell this, I thought it was too strong, too heavy, too much. Plus at the time I had many strong Oud and incense like fragrances, for my taste. Oud and Incense has been all the rage in the ‘Teens hasn’t it.
I had Tom Ford Sahara Noir and came across some beautifully compose Robert Piguet Oud induce fragrances. With a 1.7 bottle of Sahara Noir around, this ( a sample of) was just put on the back burner for me( excuse the pun –if you smell it , you’ll understand). However, Sahara Noir was caught up in my lose and so when it was offer with the purchase of L’Eau De L’Eau, it immediately went front and center as my go to for when I want to smell spicy , strong , domineering, vixen like( it’s a decedent of YSL Opium And Estee Lauder Cinnibar–oh and with the rose/spice, Guerlian Chamade–Hermes Rouge)
What makes it special? The Oud–Loatian Oud at that! As stated before, it has tobacco but not like Volutes, it so cover up by the Oud!. Then there is the camphor that snick up and mixes with the labdanum. Just a wonderful suffocation!
I remember discussing Oud with a handsome wavy, shoulder length hair and well built Middle Eastern gentleman (with a very clean thin-ish gold tee, to boot). I had just passed by him at night on my way to the train and caught an intoxicating whiff of a very distinctive Oud fragrance. As Americans are famous for, I just start talking to him. First, he correct me on how to pronounce Oud(‘ooh -dah’–not ‘Oh-dah”) and laugh at me for citing Tom Ford as an authoritarian on the note. With his ‘seen-it- all’ coffee eyes, he said Americans couldn’t begin to understand real Oud, and when I smelled him (just from a distant) I saw what he meant. However, if I would have reference Oud Palao, he probably would have taken me more serious( even if it is, in fact, produce by a French company). This is just not frighten to be what it suppose to be–p
