    As others say.
This is a super standard arab oud rose combo.
But it is of high quality. And you get what you expect – as in that you wont get any of that creative gibberish when you just want the plain old stuff.

Basic Arabic style rose-oud combo…nothing special.

A really compelling try from a western nose to wrap up an oud bouquet, very well done.
It starts harsh, very oudy, sharp, a little bit dirty and metallic, not sweet like most of other western made oud perfumes, but not flat as Jacomo oud (Which is not bad at all, a very unique take on oud). Very little sweetness here to avoid making it bitter. After 10 minutes you can start smelling those pretty whiffs of rose and amber and patchouli. It’s more of an oriental oud fougere is there is such a thing.
It’s addictive honestly, i can’t stop smelling my hand, but its those type of perfumes that need time to grow on you, it’s hard to love this instantly. More or an acquired taste.
If you expect this to be an oud rose combo, this isn’t.

After 12+ hours and a shower it’s steel projecting. i didn’t love it but its amazing

The longevity of this perfume is amazing, and I just sprayed it two times and it stays all day on my skin. But the problem is I don’t like the scent of this perfume, the combination of oud and sandalwood remind me of traditional incense that my mom usually use. The slightly rose note doesn’t help to much for me. Well, this perfume definitely not for me, I just used it once for test and now it just stays in my dresser.

Last week I tested my first fragrance from Dior’s Collection Privée, Balade Sauvage. And although I did enjoy it, it didn’t quite fulfill my sky-high expectations of this exclusive line, which made me just a little less eager to try my sample of Oud Ispahan than I had been. But now that I have worn it for a couple of days, I’m glad to say the (slight) lowering of expectations was unnecessary: man, does this one ever deliver!
If this really is Iran in a bottle, as I’ve read more than once, that must be a wonderful-smelling country indeed…Both the rose note and the oud note are done exquisitely here – in fact, I’ve always been rather indifferent to oud, but this one made me realize that I’m actually really into it (just like everyone else, only about a decade later!). It’s definitely a luxurious scent, in the sense that it’s the kind that can really make your day: divine scent, high quality, great performance. It has a definite presence and lasts all day, but without being overpowering: it’s more of a fall/winter scent, but it wasn’t too much even on this warm summer day. The development on the skin over the course of the day is very nice as well: it really packs a (delicious) punch in the opening, and it dries down a lot softer – sweeter, but also more sexy or even skanky. I love it to the point of thinking the high price reasonable, which says a lot; better start saving up!

I enjoy many oud fragrances, even those of the skanky/powerhouse/animalic/too masculine variety. Dior Oud Ispahan is incredibly strong, powerful and impactful, which is just the way I like ‘em. It projects magnificently and stays on my dry skin for at least 12 hours. Aside from oud, the strongest note is a lush, powdery rose in full bloom plus a sweet hippie patchouli. The entire experience of wearing Oud Ispahan is like finding yourself in an oriental bazaar on a hot summer day, when the air is filled with scents of aromatic oils and sticks, flowers, overripe fruits, incense, tobacco and sugar-soaked sweets.
The only problem with this type of scent is that, alas, most people don’t enjoy it as much as I do; especially those who consume the olfactory diet of dilluted Iso ESuper and artificial sugarbombs might find this extremely offputting. That’s the reason why I’ll never purchase Oud Ispahan; I mean, what’s the point in buying such a precious, expensive fragrance, only to enjoy it in your own private chambers, in order to avoid offending some oversensitive souls (i.e. their noses)?!

@rola.asad brother that’s a heavy price for this stunningly beautiful fragrance in my opinion the best oud and rose combination. You will love this fragrance I hope you purchased from a reputable seller as there are Russian fakes all over the place.

@Marco Chau I know I didn’t get the best deal, but!!! Where I live “in Palestine” these type of fragrances (private blends) are soooo hard to find, I usually get my perfumes in a really good price, but this one I found it by chance in a shop and couldn’t argue about the price even though my eyes popped out when the salesman told me how much does it cost!!! But I had to buy it!!
Aaand I really really love it <3

Where were you, @rola.asad, that costed you so much for a 250ml bottle? It’s only selling for around US$320 even in Hong Kong. I sure hope that you really love this fragrance as you paid almost double of what it was selling elsewhere.

All I can say about this magical fragrance is OMG!! A lady used to come in the shop where I worked and she used to fill this salon with this rich aroma, had to ask her what she was wearing, purchased it the next payday (as not cheap).. where ever I go people ALWAYS ask what I’m wearing.. I spray on 2-4 sprays in the morning and can still smell it in the late evening… wears into a beautiful warm rich fragrance which last forever absolutely love this smell, definitely in my top ten list ….

I would like to mention that I conatcated Dior and they assured me that Oud Ispahan has never been reformulated.
    Here is the email reply:
‘Following your recent e-mail, we would like to thank you for your interest in Christian Dior Parfums and particularly in our fragrances from the Maison Christian Dior.
We would like to inform you that the fragrance Oud Ispahan was never reformulated.

Spending $625 on this juice, cross fingers “I hope to survive this month”!
as I’m still testing Narciso’s “rose musc”, and a new Oud fragrance from a niche house ´which i can’t remember it’s name’ I will wait to give it a fair judgment, the issue is i prefer oud fragrances in winter, and it’s getting warmer here!!
But I mean I will force myself to love it for whatever it is, I’m stuck with a 250 ml bottle, so I have no option folk!!!

Oud Ispahan plays a love song and its about Rose and Oud.This is such a romantic fragrance. This is a masterful blend of rose and Oud. An absolute power house of romance, sexiness, opulent and silk. This is when east and west get married and become an Oriental Western Romance Love Story.
An ode to Oud blended with Labdanum Absolute, Oud Ispahan elegantly affirms its oriental identity. The enchanting encounter between the woody strength of Oud and the power of Labdanum Absolute, tempered by Damascus Rose. This fragrance captures the Orient. The Oud is strong in this one and as a matter fact it reminds a bit on Leather Oud by this house but this is softer and silkier but they both have the same Oud DNA.
Rose lovers this one is for you!

I own a new bottle manufactured in 2016
The longevity is pretty good and 2 halfway sprays last for days on my coat.
It smells like mature red rose molasses (if there is such a thing)
The thing is, it smells better if sprayed on clothes, I get more red rose, on skin I get more animalic scent

  20. :

I think of this as a “nice oud” scent, and so it might be good for those who haven’t tried any of the “heavier” ones. For me the issue is that there are ones that seem more interesting, complex, and enjoyable, and I already have bottles of those (such as ST Dupont’s Oud and Rose scent). While I wouldn’t say OI is outright “feminine,” relative to what I already have it’s not “masculine” enough, for when I want an “oud scent.” Now if we add in the price, there’s no reason for me to consider buying more of it (I have a small decant). So, if you want a smooth oud, this is worth at least sampling.
UPDATE: After 1 to 2 hours, the smoky note became quite irritating to me, which surprised me, because otherwise it seems really smooth (and I’m used to much stronger “oud scents”), so my guess is that whatever aroma chemical used is one that I’m especially sensitive to.

This one makes me feel like a very wealthy businessperson. Creating an economic crisis in New York, closing an arms deal in Monte Carlo, colluding with a foreign power to influence an election; that kind of person. Anyway, a very distinguished smell, not for everyone I guess, but worthy of sampling it and in my case, incredible for special occasions.

One of my favorite perfumes in my collection.. how can I do it justice, it’s truly mesmerizing.
Any perfume that contains such notes always reaches the top – for me at least. It’s fun to see how different brands mix the same ingredients to create different scents.
The original formulation is a very strong, bold scent that used to last for days, but now it barely stays on you:(
I think and as I heard, in the reformulation they had to water it down. Something to do with what the harvest of the rose was like, the changes of the weather in general. That’s why the reformulation is a horrible one that doesn’t meet up it’s price anymore – disappointing, “it’s an echo of what it used to be”.

I tried it many times and i can say that i don’t like it. It smells like cowhouse! It is not dirtiness of Kouros, Musc Ravageur or Absolue Pour le Soir like. It is mixture of something fecal and unplesant. No!

    Top Quality Perfume.
I love this because I keep getting whiffs of it throughout the whole day, I don’t seem to get olfactory fatigue with it. It’s loud, yes, but gentle.

I personally blind bought IP because of all the hype and how amazing the fragrance is. Honestly, it is a very polarizing fragrance. The spray on gives off a very lipstick-vibe, which is off-putting. This slowly transitions into a smooth, creamy mixture of the oud and the sandalwood.
Initially, I didn’t like it very much as it was too strong for me, but as I wore it more and more during the winter, I fell in love. This is definitely not a blind-buy worthy, you MUST try it first.
Overall, great for day or night, fall, and can probably see men wearing this more.

Oud Ispahan contains an oud very similar to the one in Leather Oud, only it is more pronounced and sensual. This is hands down a unisex scent that will bewitch.
The rose in this avoids the curse that befalls many rose/oudh fragrance combinations. It is in full bloom, not a weakened rose water. That isn’t to say those aren’t enjoyable, this one just feels more mature.
The oudh is more medicinal than woody, but it has both aspects and comes together in a calming way. Quite lovely

I am in love with this one. I wish I had bought it before reformulation, when it had MAXIMUM intensity. If you have one and want to sell or swap, please let me know. I absolutely need this in my collection. Oh, damn, why didn’t I buy it back the early days? I live in Denmark, Europe.
Very close to Diptyque Palao, but Palao doen’t hit the exact mark for me. Oud Ispahan has more rose.

Rich woody dry incense scent. Personally finding Oud Ispane more suited to a man than being a feminine scent. Right place right time this could be pulled off by a women. Guess like any scent. Evening wear sparingly. This coming from a patchouli lover. Detect leather.?? Sandalwood dry down.

an amazing daring scent! first of all it’s not the usual rose/oud combo can be found everywhere these days!! the rose at the opening is very natural & fresh, like smelling the whole flower, the petals, stem, leaves…all at once.and the oud here is quite different than the smoky/leathery/dirty oud from so many other works,it’s got a savage musky peppery kinda old bath vibe similar to the drydown of sospiro laylati & nasomatto blamage.the combination represents a lush musky/fruity/earthy/divine glamorous scent.

This is my signature perfume. This is perfect for the formal dress. This is very easy wear for me.
It starts with labdanum note well blended with Oud. Oud in this is Indian oud. It’s really animalistic. The opening also has English rose vibes. Middle notes are pretty much same as opening. It gets very very beautiful in middle.
I am in love with this perfume .
Sometimes you have to give a little time to fragrance to really understand the quality of blending and character. I have small 50 ml decant of this fragrance. Got it last month. I hated this perfume for the first week. Then I suddenly started liking it. Ordered more from the community . I am loving it so far . And it is currently my signature perfume.

Ispahan… the pink color is misguiding … the magical persian Ispahan.. is blue.. and its not like Ispahan from Yves Rocher either.
    What it is: Whiskey/ rice/ milk/ oud/ and leather.
Must have for a fan of leather.
Leather and whiskey takes place all over.
Rose is killed by these two ingrediens.
Good quality of wood oud is magical. You think you smelled… leather… but there.. is magical whispering… of good woody notes…
It’s so classy and luxurious… reminds me a diamond souq standards in Dubai Mall.
This is a place for this fragrance.
A man with kandura… walking with his fat vallet… buying diamonds for his wifes. Yes plural. And I mean it.

I really wanted to like this one. As a lover of rose, I expected a lush canopy of inviting roses with a seductive tinge of sandalwood like the type you smell in Santal 33. I was sorely mistaken. This one is harsh enough to remind you of nail polish remover with an abhorrent fecal quality to it. And unfortunately for my nose, that’s putting it nicely. If this be Oud, I want nothing to do with it.

  38. :

    3 out of 5

The best quality juice the most luxurious scent I’ve ever put my nose on! This is rich it’s luxury. The performance is out of this world, it’s worth every penny. This is my favorite fragrance of all time. Luxury doesn’t define this adequately it’s that good however the scent may not be for everyone so I understand the hate. Try before you buy this is not for the faint of heart you need to be strong powerful and unapologetic about how you smell and you choose to wear what you love!
    Overall rating: ★★★★★ EASY

  39. :

This is some crazy juice. A light rose with some seriously stanky oud. The oud is definitely the main player and it is mighty strong. As a fan of rose/oud combinations I actually enjoy this one. Its not a big red rose, but if it were I think that would be a little much to handle. This stuff performs very well, I can still smell it nearly 24 hours later and I have had people tell me my house smells like it days after I sprayed it on. Definitely leaves a strong scent trail behind. My girlfriend HATES this stuff and I couldn’t picture wearing it in a situation when I’m not with her so I will not be purchasing a bottle but it is a very solid fragrance.
I’d give this a 3/5 stars. Its a good rose/oud but its not versatile, its expensive, and I think there are better fragrances out there.

  40. :

I don’t get the comparisons to Oud Palao at all. OP is a tobacco scent with a smooth, round oud note. Oud Ispahan is the smokiest, most medicinal oud I have smelled to date and that is NOT a bad thing! I think it’s the best western take on Oud so far. The jammy rose note keeps it feminine but this beauty packs a serious punch and I absolutely love it. It was love at first sniff and years later it’s still one of my favorite perfumes ever.

    Update:
I had an older sample of this fragrance from a reliable ebay seller and it had a really nice, dank scent to it… I purchased a large bottle from Dior and sad to say it is nearly a different scent. The new batch IS INDEED very much like oud paloa from diptique, sad to say. What a disappointment to take a strong fragrance like that, water it down, then sell it under the same name.
This is my older review with my previous batch: …
I am comparing side by side on each hand, oud ispahan and Oud Palao which many on fragrantica have said are reminiscent of this. Like I mentioned I have them sprayed on each hand and they do not smell similar to me. Oud Palao is dryer and more unisex/masculine, it’s a dry oud wood scent to my nose.
Oud Ispahan is more pronounced, you get the roses coming through. It has something animalistic about it. Projection seems better and overall it has more depth. It also offers more twists and turns during the dry down.
When I tried oud palao in the boutique it reminded me of oud ispahan but now that I have them sprayed on each hand and I compare, I must say that there really is no comparison. They are both good but different. Oud ispahan is the greater work of art.
Update: This one really grew on me over time. I purchased a bottle.

This perfume is elegant and sophisticated. It reminds me of a perfume called Nero by Varzi, an artisan perfumer in Italy. Nero lasts on my skin much longer than Dior’s commercial variety.

  43. :

this perfume lasted on me for a whole day even after i had a shower…very attractive but not for every one

  44. :

Very strong long lasting perfume I don’t like it that much. When I wore it I got meny compline about it for example my friend, wife they said it’s very strong. Since that time I stoped use it.

  45. :

    3 out of 5

Yes it is nothing new (even boring to some), yes the rose-oud combo has many interpretations but… there is a spark to Oud Ispahan, something juicy and shiny, hard to explain. The oud does not strangle you, the rose is not overly cloying. They do not need to balance eachother, they just compliment eachother in a way most oud-rose combos miss somehow.
I tested Oud Ispahan at Dubai airport between flights.
Let alone the fragrances on display, the very air at the airport smells oud. I suspect if I had the chance to face the warm Dubai air outside, it would have smelled like oud. I mean these people own their oud.
As I boarded, the smell after all these oud around, on me, on the papers in my pockets, in my bag, Oud Ispahan stood out, even “showed” itself.
A perfect balance and a spark with bold sillage. And I mean BOLD. You will feel it is worth every penny you have spent on it. Such kind of craftmanship, high quality ingredients, design, longevity and sillage is what we yearn for in niche perfumery and I am glad my expectations are met.

  46. :

    4 out of 5

This is a very lovely Classic oud/ rose combo that cocoons you in an aura of warmth and loveliness. The sillage is amazing and it lasts at least 12 hours on my skin with just 2 squirts. It smells expensive and is expensive but a little ( 2 squirts) goes a long way for a long time . The way I see it – compared to some of my Chanels that only stick around for an hour or so this is very good value for money.

  47. :

    4 out of 5

Great fragrance that certainly leaves a mark… To me, it smells like Aoud Safran with a smoky woody oud.

  48. :

    4 out of 5

I am so excited about this one. I have Ambre Nuit and I love it, can t have enough. I thought that since both of them have rose in it, it will be somewhat comparable.
When I finally sprayed it on my skin, everyone is talking about Middle East.
I love strong fragrances, but this one is way too overpowering. It is a long lasting.

  49. :

    4 out of 5

Bought it last week and giving it its first opportunity to impress today. Initially I thought the sillage was shy, but later this morning a colleague complimented me so I guess it’s satisfactory. It’s mid-morning now and Ispahan is giving me strong references to Clinique Beyond Rose and Aramis Perfume Calligraphy. I’m not convinced the Dior’s price is justified, but it certainly is a neat piece of work. Nothing rough-and-ready about it. Recommended.

  50. :

    4 out of 5

This is so natural, it’s the most authentic rose/oud combination that you will ever smell. Dior does quality at its best and this one is an oriental masterpiece.
The ingredients smell very natural, the rose is deep and red, the oud is of highest quality and has a little animalic edge.
In comparison with Black Aoud from Montale, Oud Ispahan is sweeter, not so sharp and more feminine.
    8/10

  51. :

    3 out of 5

Deep sweet intense truly addictive absolutely love it best rose oud combination. Also stunning silage and longevity.sticks to clothing for weeks. It truly is a masterpiece of you want a rose oud combo this cannot be beaten yes it’s expensive but 1 to 2 sprays max is all you’ll ever need.

  52. :

    4 out of 5

This to me is an almost perfect perfume.
It has an amazing smell that transforms several times during its long life. It starts a bit loud and screechy, but settles quickly to a laudanum, patchouli earthy smell that after 45 min hunkers down into a more woody/Oud rose that lasts for 24 to 36 hours on my skin and projecting for more than half of that time. I love this fragrance. It’s classy and different enough that you will probably be the only one in a 100 mile radius wearing it.
Scent 9/10….I would give it a perfect score except for the loud and somewhat chemical start. Don’t let this dissuade you though as it’s brilliant once that burns off
Projection 10/10…14 to 18 hours with three sprays
Fortitude 12/10…the longest lasting perfume I own…24 hours later and I can still identify it…36 hours and it’s a faint whisper but still there
Full bottle worthy…yes….of course….get it NOW before they screw it up. For the price per mil it’s the Best Buy you can make if you like the scent. I received a 250ml bottle for Christmas and it was 300$ plus tax. It will last forever

  53. :

    4 out of 5

I tried most of the prive collection at dior store today and i will be honest nothing made me pull the trigger and buy something. This is no exception and in fact this is the first i tried and leather oud (which is so vial imo) because of its high reviews and its just okay. Its a typical oud fragrance without any twist, although its realistic oud w/o a chemical smell quality is there, but thats it; oud with spice and wood. It is a bit boring and has no wow factor. Mybfirst impression was “ok its oud then what?” Nothing. I would like the oud to be creeping and well blended with the notes and not over powering everything, in this case it is not so i will pass on this one. It just have no distinctiveness and lacks character.

  54. :

    5 out of 5

I also got a screechy chemical smell from this one unfortunately. I smell this in a quite a few fragrances, so my nose must just be sensitive to whatever it is.

  55. :

    5 out of 5

Most people get a good reaction from this but be careful. If you are like me, this will be the worst thing you have ever smelled. It is literally painful for my nostrils, it screeches and never ends. I can smell the rose and sandalwood but the rose is extremely sharp and the chemical that I mostly smell that drowns everything out is just the worst (I think it is the oud).
Yes the performance is nuclear because of chemicals. You can wear gasoline and get a similar effect.
In general, just be careful with this one, as some people have extreme negative reactions to whatever crappy chems are in here.

  56. :

For a rose and oud combination. Dior oud ispahan is on a league of its own truly a masterpiece.
Silage and longevity are phenomenal. Powerful and potent fragrance.

I was born in the middle east, This Fragrance is Middle Eastern kind of fragrance, Amazing, warm and sensual, Old modern perfume, when I smell it I have to close my eyes and all I see is red, Red roses, Red skies and red air. warm on the verge of Hot, if that makes any sense. I just love it so much. when i smell it the time stops, and I’m not here.
Sillage is AMAZING I don’t know about reformulation, my bottle is June 2016, and it is so strong, I don’t think anyone would need more than that, stronger than this might get annoying. longevity is for days. Try before you buy.

    Decent one.
Just got a 10ml decant from a friend.
Oud Ispahan chooses the oud that is exactly the same with Diptyque Oud Palao and Zegna Indonesian Oud in some aspects.
I’ll update this review a few days later.

Wow this one really stands out from the Ouds I’ve tried since I’ve been obsessed with Oud, might be the balsamics mixed in, it’s a real powerful passionate oud, it has a certain muskyness. I don’t get too much rose and it smells amazing I would compare this to Illuminium Rosewood – the exclusive original line. And this is more affordable! Very powerful stuff!
Upon second trial – somehow it’s always a slightly different experience – it’s very musky almost a slight gasoline edge to it. And fruity somehow. Still very good, but different.

smoke note in the beggining was killing me literally 😀 but after it calm down.. its impossible to go unnoticed when you wear this fragrance.. i wear it like twice a year to be true 😀 but when i do,everyone compliment me and tell that I smell really expensive. worth to try definitely,if not buy whole bottle, then just get a decant 😉

    Update to my previous review:
Still one of my favorites in my extensive collection.
I get compliments every time I wear it and yesterday I was told that I smell really expensive…
Now I have to share it with my 17 year old daughter who loves it…. She gets compliments wearing it all the time. I guess she loves the attention;)
The good thing that I have 8.4 oz bottle so it should last for a while…

Oh my… oh my! He**. Yes. This was a blind buy and I just received this today, and applied it.
I love Leather Oud, and I definitely see the similarity to Leather Oud with Oud Ispahan. Also, I can understand the comparisons to Rose d’Arabie. That like.. velvety, jammy, plush rose(?).
This is kind of like a hybrid (to me) of Leather Oud and Rose d’Arabie. It’s kind of like my favorite part(s) of them mixed together.
    Win. So good.

lovely rose with oud perfume, one of the best out there on the market with niche quality…

I have to add to my review…
This is bar none THE longest lasting fragrance I have EVER come across, and that is on (MY) skin. ONE spray of this monster on your flesh will last up to 5 days, POST shower. On clothing, it almost never goes away – need to wash in hot water with powerful detergent. So if you enjoy or LOVE the scent of this fume and think it’s too expensive, think again – this is absolutely worth every penny. I have the 250ml bottle and I haven’t even put a dent in it, 6 months later…
I can still smell it faintly on my wrist, 5 days later. A beautiful powdery rose, calm oud- elegant never jarring with a gorgeous creamy incense in the background, one of my ultimate favorites and such a joy to own.
PS- I have the old formulation

People talk about how Interlude Man is one of the most daring fragrances ever. Those people must not have smelled Oud Ispahan. This opens up very nice in my opinion. Feminine, but nice. As it dries down, the Rose moves to the background and this fragrance starts to smell like morning breath. It’s loud and lasts forever but I wouldn’t want to project something that smells like bad breath, especially that loudly. Lyric Man and Noir de Noir are much better roses in my opinion.

nothing sound like Oud. very very bad concept and mixture. as a Oud lover. its not worth it at all.
yet its very long lasting and for people who loved it its not waste of money because the smell remains for long time

I can’t deal with how skanky this oud is. It’s big. It’s full on.
But the rose is big and full on too. And they sort of complement each other…
Then I get a vision of a black tie evening, with two partners dancing together. The Oud is in a black tuxedo holding Rose, who is dressed in a red ballgown, of course by Dior.

Out of all the big brand rose-ouds, this is probably the dirtiest (in an extremely sexy way with a hint of Dior’s own Leather Oud) with a bold rose.
Really has nothing to do with the sweet vanillic Rose d’Arabie; it’s also different from Majestic Special Oud (which is closer to Pearl Oud by Kilian). Ispahan has an European-fantasy smoky-leather type of animalic while Majestic (and Pearl) has a more authentic “fecal” type with a sharper brighter rose.
*Although this is my friend’s favorite, I personally prefer Leather Oud, plus I’m already married to Tom Ford’s Oud Fleur :p

My fav rose fragrance in my collection. This rose has a swagger and personality about it. Very heavy projection and silliage. Going to have to scrub this off Tomm because I know when I wake up in the morn, this will still be stuck to my skin lol. Christian Dior prive collection For the win!!! My third bottle and I will be getting more.
