I disagree with other reviews that this is a bad fragrance. Maybe they’re using an older formulation or something? This smells like a very mossy forest. The oakmoss in this is very strong and very realistic. I also smell cedarwood, but it’s mostly just oakmoss. It’s like smelling a tree in a forest that has a lot of moss growing on it. Needless to say it leans extremely masculine. The colour of the oil and bottle logo (on the 6 ml concentrated oil) is very accurate as this scent brings to mind the colour dark green very well. I have been using the same bottle for over 3 years and really like it, especially during the winter. Sillage is moderate while longevity is very strong at over 10 hours.

Perfect fragrance for a woman that wants to smell manly. Heck, it is what is is. Although Original was made for a man, it appears woman are all over it, most likely, “masculine” woman (zero balloons for me… but at least I’m honest!)
The review below me said this is like Versace L’Homme? Umm say what? Of course the same person also said Kouros is unisex… so I stopped reading their review at that point. Kouros is as unisex as Vin Diesel being female. If you’re a female that wears Kouros, well, I’ll leave it at that.
Original By Al-Rehab is nothing compared to Versace L’Homme – which happens to be one of my favorite colognes of all time. Original by Al-Rehab has no character, no intense notes, and almost no scent at all. I’m the owner of about 60 Al Rehab fragrances, and the house is a hit or miss with me. Some of their fragrances are amazing for a masculine male such as myself(ie Lord, Superman, Dakkar, Cobra, Khaliji, etc) and some are more unisex but still very nice (Soft, Al Nourus, Silver, Inspiration, Of Course, etc). Unfortunately some of Al-Rehab’s are either below average or total duds, or even disgusting. Keep in mind, my opinion and experience, is completely subjective, and you may have a total different experience on the aforementioned fragrances. (Note: My reviews are all based on the oils because I’ve found their roll-on oil fragrances to be far superior.
Anyway, Al-Rehab’s “Original” is okay, but nothing special IMHO. It’s kinda fresh, and not nearly as powerful as many of their other fragrances mentioned above. But by no means is it related to Versace L’Homme (Vintage) which is one of the best leather fragrances ever created. Original is boring to my nose. Nothing much going on. Again, this is to my nose. You may love it… or hate it… or find it a so-so fragrance like myself.
One of the things that irks me the most about Original is I can’t seem to find the best season to wear it. I enjoy rotating my fragrances by season (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer) and this fragrance does not have enough character to wear it at any special time of the year… or for that matter, anytime occasion. It’s just a decent smelling, forgettable fragrance.

I find ‘Original’ to be quite similar to Versace L’Homme (1986). An aromatic, oriental-fougere with spicy-floral (carnation prominent) heart and accents of herbs and sweet, honeylike florals. Base is oakmoss, amber, musk, and touch of coumarin, sandalwood, and patchouli. Very classic, very complex for the 80’s powerhouse lovers. Scents in the ’80’s were purposefully challenging to the male-female dichotomy in fragrance… which is why Kouros reads as unisex to many with its oriental (amber-vanilla) overtones. I think this fragrance as well can be easily worn by anyone into vintage scents- especially the oriental fougeres. Quite lovely! And among my Al Rehab faves.

This starts off sharp, green and soapy. It then simmers down to a spicy, smoky green. I am assuming oak moss and vetiver are two of the main notes. We have green notes and spices too. It dries down further to a leathery, smoky affair. Would not be surprised if there were rose and some herby notes in here too. Wild guesses, but this is what my nose is picking up on. Reminiscent of Van Cleef & Arpels pour Homme. Nice, vintage feel.

OK, so I hardly ever do negative fragrance reviews, mainly because I (usually) read a lot of information before I buy things to make sure they’ll suit me, but this cost me $4 for 6ml so who cares. It was also the only dud in an otherwise great batch of 10.
Original is a floral musk fragrance for men. I smell oakmoss, black musk (the type I don’t like), flowers, spice and astringent lemon oil.
This smells like something you’d use to clean a stainless steel sink or remove limescale from a shower. It is sharp and acrid. Men who smoked 40-a-day in 1982 used to wear cologne like this to (attempt to) cover up the smell. There are old fragrance types which have successfully had a renaissance. This is not one of them.

Overwhelming soapiness on me, it smells like Lifebuoy soap. Clean and fresh, but very soapy. I don’t get anything else-no musk, no sweetness, no spice.

As I live in Dubai, UAE, I have had more of a chance than most to see the Al Rehab fragrances in their local cultural setting. I am altogether aware that the vast majority of people who buy Al Rehab perfumes in the West will have had them supplied from online retailers, but I would like to share with you something about purchasing these fragrances here before I give my short review.
For a start, buying an Al Rehab fragrance in Dubai will mean in all likelihood that you will need to visit the Perfume Souk area in the city near to the famous Gold Souk of Dubai. This is because Al Rehab is not stocked in any of the major or minor retail outlets and – unlike Rasasi, Arabian Oud, Swiss Arabian or the other local brands – does not have an outlet based in a mall. This also means that you will have to take a route through one of the older parts of the city, by the side of the Creek, along past the shops selling all sorts of knick-knacks, past the Asian cyclists carrying stacks of cardboard on the backs of bikes, past the East Africans trading with Afghans, past the shwarma and juice stalls, until you come to the Perfume Souk area. Here you find the Al Rehab shop at the end of a busy, crowded, furiously neon-lit street….
Now when you enter this shop, you will truly wonder how it is that some of these fragrances are so well recognised as being very credible dupes of some of the fragrances from the most admired houses internationally. Creed? Montale?…..Surely not. The Al Rehab shop is staffed by some very friendly elderly local Arab gentlemen. Very nice, and a Salaam Aleikum and a few words of Arabic goes a long way. But yet, the shop. My, my, my….More like a hardware store than a fragrance shop, it is not unusual for your total to be worked out on the back of an envelope and change to be plucked out of wooden drawer. Last time I went there I wondered if I could pick up a hammer and a box of masonry nails while I was at it!…Suffice to say that this is nothing like the image of sparkling, shiny Dubai portrayed around the world. Yet, there is charm in this as well – and most definitely value for money if this is a consideration at all. (As an aside, buying these 6 ml CPO vials costs me 4 UAE dirhams each, about $1.10, ie they are practically giving the stuff away.) So what are their fragrances actually like…..
Original – in spite of what the name suggests – is not unlike a plethora of fragrances found for low prices here in the Middle East. It is, as noted, an oriental with a clear floral musk vibe, making it a palatable and pleasant fragrance which will appeal to many. It is almost perfect in its unisex appeal (which is a very strong and successful feature of Al Rehab in general). It is not the longest lasting Al Rehab fragrance, but it certainly beats many EDP concentrations of Western perfumery. In fact, that may be the trump card of some of these Al Rehab fragrances: they outlast so many fragrances that are instead sold for such hefty prices.
All said, Original is a Highly Recommended Buy for those who love oriental unisex fragrances with floral musk features. Well done, Al Rehab….

I find this very unisex, I am actually wondering if it mislabeled. I wore it today and received a nice compliment. I rarely receive compliments even on my more expensive perfumes.
The Al Rashad website states this
Original is a Sweet spicy Oriental floral bouquet. Has slight pleasant musk feel
