Bought this one a long long time ago and my mom used to wear. Because she liked it so much I ended up giving it to her, and she would wear it and leave a trace of elegance that no other perfume has ever left. The combination of patchouli and other fruits smells so great. I never found other scent like this one. After you lay this on your skin it has such a feminine presence. It is subtle and delicate, put you certainly wont go unnoticed. If you are a fan of Bottega Veneta Edp, you will probaly like this one. Lasts about 5 hours on my skin. Discrete sillage. Amazingly feminine.

Raspberry/patch in the beginning…then florals emerge with an “airyness”.Praline is underneath…there…but not prominently so. Fruity-chouli…light…and becomes sort of linear in the end.Think of scent family…like..but not clone/dupe of…scents like ..ok..Coco Mad…SJP Lovely…and..yeah…Miss Dior Cherie/Miss Dior vibes too. I think this one is very mainstream, and yet…underrated too. A classic vibe is in there too. And, finally, the BOTTLE…it is a heavy, big, almost work of art.

“Oriens” is a very subtle fruity fragrance that I would prefer to wear during the day. It has fantastic longevity but as for the sillage, it radiates just a few feet off of the skin so I won’t exactly call it a heavy hitter or a skin scent per say.
But oh, that bottle has power! The heavy cap with the magnetic clip on top seems to be a keep sake in my view, very gorgeous.
Again, I smelled “Oriens” twice at the perfume counter, the second time my sister Suzette was with me. She loved it and bought one immediately. She also told me she would bring me along when she wants to shop for perfumes because I research more than she does.
Anyway, there is nothing negative to say about “Oriens” in my book. It is what it is, Van Cleef babies!

Miss Dior Cherie crossed with Angel is how I would describe this. There definitely are some similarities to MDC but there’s more patchouli and less strawberry (more so raspberry). So this isn’t a dupe, but it is similar.
That being said, I think I like this just as much if not more. It’s very well blended and very beautiful. It’s sad that this fragrance doesn’t get more attention; I would say this is one of my favorites of the “fruitchouli-floral” genre.
It almost smells like a fruitier, lighter flanker to “Miss Dior Le Parfum”.
Really wonderful and extremely underrated. Definitely worth a try. And of course the bottle… is stunning. And much bigger than I imagined. You really could bludgeon someone with the cap (as a previous review mentioned).

I’m going to be honest and say that I bought Oriens for the lovely bottle, which is beautiful in real life. I have the 50 ml which looks heavy and ornamental, the 30 ml is missing in detail and looks somewhat plainer.
As for the perfume? That’s another story; it is a fruitchuli (one of the first ones of the genre), not too distinctive, not too fruity, not too sweet, a bit redundant in a big collection really.
Instead of raspberry I get lots of dried plum in the beggining, that feels kind of spicy, not sweet but a bit tart, followed by patchouli and light woody notes. I hardly get vanilla, let alone praline.
Is it bad? Of course not. Not a must have, but it does the job and wafts nicely around the wearer in cooler weather. It is a bargain nowadays, especially at the prices it’s going online. And it’s beautiful bottle is simply stunning on a dresser.

To me, Oriens smells like the prototype of a sweet gourmand fruitchouli. Just look at the notes, they are all very popular in this kind of scent at the moment. Nothing sticks out in any way. Raspberry is very prominent to me, black currant, patchouli, praline and amber, too.
The patchouli isn’t scratchy, the fruit arent cloying, everything is in harmony. It’s a sweet scent of a syrupy kind, but not overly so.
The lasting power and projection are good, not overwhelmingly strong though.
The scent becomes more warm and less fruity over time. There is no huge or surprising developement.
If you like La Nuit Tresor, this is reminds me of it a bit, but Oriens is more normal, linear and daytime appropriate. And Oriens is older.
Nowadays I would recommend this to people who like this kind of warm fragrances, but don’t have many of them. If you already have a larger collection, Oriens is no must have.
It’s very nice but not the most interesting of perfumes.
Plus points are the price at the moment and the bottle with the cute cap.

First blast is nose-piercing and reminds me of my olfactory nemesis, vetiver. Unpleasant, sharp and off-putting. I’m assuming it is patchouli and blackcurrant vying for attention. Drydown produces a weirdly jammy smell, sweet and sour at once. A fleeting impression of peony flits through, and overall the whole thing becomes spiked Hawaiian Punch on my skin. Or the cheap strawberry auto air freshener you hang from the rear view mirror. Not the worst thing I’ve smelled, but definitely a contender. Praise be to the olfactory gods it has poor longevity.

Sadly I do not like this one much.. Turns into something very unpleasant on my skin. A sweet sticky smell that is gross.
However not a bad scent when I spray it on paper. Sweet raspberry and patchouli. Not unpleasant att all, and would probably be nice on someone else.
Have no real idea what causes the reaction on my skin, caus none of the notes in this perfume is among my problem notes. Must be the combination. Odd..
Sillage seems to be moderate as well as the lasting power. The bottle is also gorgeous, so I might keep it just for decoration a while longer.

I wanted a scent that smells similar to CD Miss Dior Cherie but something I could wear on a daily basis. Although some notes are similar, I don’t get the same experience.
On me, I get very poor sillage. I physically need to smell the spot to really know I’m wearing the perfume. The notes I do smell are the heavier notes–patchouli, something smokey in the beginning, praline and maybe a little currant. The berry, jasmine, vanilla, etc. are light. I’ve been wearing it during winter in Chicago so it’s entirely possible my body heat is not strong enough to project this perfume.
However, this is a great daily fragrance. Something that’s a little noticeable and light. This could be worn by a woman of any age. I got a great deal on a tester but bottles are going fast online.

This is a moody one very much depending of the PH of the skin. I personally just love it! smells differently in the summer and differently in the fall. It opens with a dazzling vibration of berries and something like a bitter orange, just gorgeous and then it becomes somewhat misterious, like a warm oriental nargilla. After it’s settled on the skin is leaves a warm smell like aromatic sweet smoke with a hit of dark raspberry. From the description it may seem too gourmand, but it has something darkish and misterious in the end. Soooo intriguing! sooo love it!
Oh, and that bottle! VC a A , just masters of those little gems!

Just ” meh” on this, its a pleasant scent but I expected something note, well, oriental and spicy…this is on he lighter side of gourmand. Its very caramel vanilla toffee with a bit of breeziness. I think its a misnomer calling it ” Oriens” maybe I need to get past the name to fully appreciate it.

I love this house! Where to begin? I personally love this scent. This is also one of my husbands favorites. I think this parfum exudes class, sophistication, and elegance. Dont forget, it has an intoxication that screams SEXY! Another bonus is the beautiful bottle. This house has been known for its over the top bottles. Exquisite beauty.
This is a very warm scent. I picture myself in front of a fire, wearing a beautiful bulky sweater, cuddled in a soft throw. With spice, woods, and comforting sweets and florals. It’s a very comforting scent, leaves a cozy, relaxing impression. I will always keep this in my collection. Xox

I own this and I have a love hate relationship with it. But right now I am loving it. It is sweet, but spicy sweet thanks to the patchouli. It is a grown up fragrance. It smells menthol and balmy on my skin. I detect beauifully blended patchouli with praline topped with strawberries and raspberries, doused in blackcurrant juice. It has a warm feel to it, which makes me think it has an amber like base. It is balmy menthol spicy sweet thats how i would describe it, the patchouli blended with the praline gives it a nutty/woody vibe. I like it, it definitely isn’t boring!
Projection is very weak for me though, it is a skin scent though it does last a long time.

  14. :

I find Oriens’s opening brilliant, not in the intellectual sense, but in terms of radiance. It opens boldly – very boldly – with sweet patchouli supported by ripe fruits. The sweetness is very nicely balanced by black currant’s tartness. A clever combination for an introduction that lasts about an hour, maybe two.
Then, the opening completely vanishes and is replaced by a soft and nutty vanilla confection of sorts. It’s nice, but I would have preferred a transition. The conspicuous introduction seemed to promise a riveting narrative involving Jasmine and her white flowers, a suspenseful culmination and then a descent to closure. None of that. Bold brilliance followed by a comforting cup of pralines and cream.
Dichotomous, I guess one could say. But perhaps that’s its design. I like it and will wear it often on summer eves and autumn days.
Oh, and the bottle! A finely crafted piece, indeed.

  15. :

This is like/hate for me. I like it because it is sweet and warm. However, that damn amber can sometimes come off like Bug Spray!!! It’s the same vibe I get with Jessica Simpson’s Fancy: Beautiful, Warm, Decadent, &………….R.A.I.D. When I’m going to wear this around others, I literally have to spray this @ least forty-five minutes in advance. Gorgeous heavy bottle, but this is the kind of fragrance that I have to be in the mood for to enjoy!

  16. :

    4 out of 5

I get a heavy patchouli and tobacco note at first. The tobacco is overpowering to me in the beginning and it last a good 15 minutes. The drydown is sweet and powdery raspberry. It’s not a very unique fragrance, but it’s pleasant enough if you can make it through the intense top notes.

  17. :

    5 out of 5

OK… I’ll admit it. I bought it for the bottle! The delicate glass bottle appears to hang suspended, filled with molten golden fluid, from a multi-faceted jewel cap. The cap feels heavy and expensive.
The perfume itself is, like many other have said, masterfully blended, making it difficult to pick out individual notes. On my skin, the patchoulli is strong, though combined with the other notes, it creates a smell I could best describe as “green lavender”. Yes,there is raspberry for sweetness and amber in the base to carry the scent with warmth, but at the same time, it becomes powdery the longer I wear it. Very complex indeed!
I do prefer this scent in winter – summer heat intensifies the patchoulli too harshly.
Defnitely a “try before you buy” scent for a strong woman of character, and one whose Perfume nose has matured.
    And oh, that bottle…

  18. :

    5 out of 5

I get a rose note, or at least what tends to pass for rose in most perfumery, as real rose is both subtle and wildly expensive. This is nice, if a little too sweet. I have been wearing powerhouses all week, so this is a good palate cleanser for Friday. I get florals, but not white florals. Maybe the raspberry tinges those white florals a bit pink.

  19. :

    3 out of 5

This was a blind buy, mainly due to the beauty of the bottle. I didn’t know if I would like it or not because at first spray it smelled way too floral for my taste, then I started getting the sweet of the fruits until it dried down. It reminds me a lot of Believe by Britney Spears, except this one is powdery, kind of like J.Lo’s Glow. All in all, I like it, I wouldn’t wear it every day, maybe on special occasions going out.

  20. :

    4 out of 5

Wow, Lasting power is unquestionable. Its difficult for me to fully and justly give a decent reviewas I’ve been dis-engaged from fragrance for a while… but it is seamlessly blended and after 10 hours the back of my hand still smells like a soft and creamy blackcurrant… creamy smooth mousse… even after wearing gloves for half the day. Not a fragrance that I would wear personally as too light for my skin but for someone who likes a light and airy spring/summer floral its a good choice.

  21. :

    5 out of 5

I must admit I purchased this fragrance because of the bottle. More importantly the cap which is based on a ring ‘The Arbre Aux Songes’ from the Van Cleef & Arpels Midsummer Night’s Dream Range. I just wish I could afford the real piece of jewellery…
Opens with an abundance of Jasmine and creamy White Flowers weaving around your body like a warm breeze.
Intermingled amongst the flowers is the sweet tang of Raspberries scattered on a bed of Blackcurrants while Mandarin Blossoms slowly float down.
A shy Patchouli whilst adding depth, pushes forward the floral notes so they can be centre stage, content to hover in the background.
The notes are blended so well you could almost think you have discovered a new scent, very hard to tell where one note ends and the other begins. It is intoxicating.
    Definitely a perfume for A Midsummer’s Night.

A blind buy..I expected more, maybe because of the beauty of the bottle and the name which suggests a spicy heavier scent. As mentioned previously, its a milder version of Jimmy Choo. So soft and faint, you almost can’t smell it. Still, the bottle looks amazing and it will be a nice, safe scent for times where I wish to fly under the radar.
    Nice, but unmemorable.

I don’t profess to have a nose -I bought this blind and didn’t like it on first squirt. However, it developed into a cinnemony, peppery and deeply warm rapture ending in a cloud of my dad’s tobacco pouch – lovely!

Perfect dupe for CD Miss Dior Cherie. If you like that type of fragrance you will love this. It has a very good quality, it stays long on skin. Very well made and the bottle is just perfect!

I have a miniature. The little bottle is really pretty, they did a good job on that.
First time I used this perfume I thought it was too sweet and cloying for me, even a little nauseating. For some reason I smelled artificial peaches. But I see there isn’t a peach note listed so I guess that’s my chemistry. As I didn’t liked the scent but I did like the bottle I kept it.
Tried again yesterday right before I went under the shower. Still sweet and cloying do I couldn’t wait to wash it off. Then I was sitting on the couch after I took the shower and I smelled a really pretty scent. It was oriens. I think it survived the shower and the sweet and cloying was nowhere to be found. It was a rich floral-fruity cypre. I really liked it after the shower. I will keep it around because I think I might really like this one under the right circumstances.

Nice perfume. It wasn’t love at first sniff but after wearing it for a few days I think it is quite nice. I wouldn’t apply a lot as it can be overpowering. It’s fairly unique and for that I like it.

  27. :

I’ve been looking for a replacement for Miss Dior Cherie for years… I decided to give Oriens a try, mainly due to so many reviews claiming the scents are similar.
Oriens definitely smells similarly to MDC, however in general I feel like Oriens is more elegant, grown-up, less cheerful and playful … It’s not as charming as MDC for my nose… Although I do like Oriens, I still miss MDC a lot..
It has a decent staying power and silage too. I’d say that it also resembles Coco Mademoiselle, but only a little bit… Generally speaking nicely blended, elegant composition that would be perfect for winter and fall days!

This Fragrance remins me to Kors by Michel Kors. t is strange that there is no licour, or champagne fragrnace in the list of notes. It does smell like champagne and roses like Kors.

It is a creamy sweet fruity scent. It is a skin scent- sometimes it is a little too sickly and cloying for me. But I own it and still like it- just sometimes it’s a little much- not for everyday wear-more for special occasions. I agree it does smell like Dior cherie-nothing like mademoiselle though which is sharp and citrus. It is a very sweet creamy scent to the point it smells sticky, yes that’s the word I was looking for Sticky is the word I would use to describe the vibe I get from this scent. I like it cause it is rare and is rather well blended, just a little to sticky and sweet for me sometimes.
I find the bottle unique, but cheap looking.

An absolute stunner. On my skin this remarkably resembles coco mademoiselle. On clothing I find it spicier and more unique. Add in the beautiful bottle and this is perfection.

I came across Van Cleef & Arpels on accident and the house has me totally smitten. It started with First EDT which was the first aldehyde floral with a soapy nuance that I didn’t just tolerate, I really like it. I don’t care for the detergent soap aldehyde in a lot of high end fragrances and forgive me if you hate me for saying this but I don’t want to spend $100 to smell like soap detergent mixed with citrus patchouli. Don’t be fooled by the EDT label, it lasts longer than most modern perfumes.
Van Cleef is incredibly classy, understated, different and I can just gush on and on. They use the honeyed and/or praline type notes to soften the aldehydes and it somehow smells glowing…if glowing smelled like anything. It’s very well crafted and they have a unique “thing” just like Michael Kors and Chanel where when you smell it, you immediately know what house it came from.
Back to the review- Ok, first off, the bottle is massive. I ordered the 3.3 oz because it was only $7 more than the two ounce online. When it got here the box was heavy and it’s seriously the size of a grapefruit on steroids that weighs as much as a small bowling ball. I’m not saying that as a complaint, I’ll take a statement piece like that any day.
I mostly just smell the patchouli on first spray then it fades into the background. Then it gets a little soapy (but not detergent soap) and the heart opens into a very lovely clean, classy and warm praline with a bit of citrus and raspberry…It kind of has a caramel nuance to it. I love it and I don’t know anyone who wears it- I actually don’t smell like everyone else!

Got it today. Not too sweet or sharp. On me smells like chocolate with mandarin, blackcurrant and patchouli. Very nice. It’s not an aggressive perfume. Mellow, creamy but to the fresh side, great for any occasion. I wouldn’t say it’s an oriental perfume, its quite soft.
Smells like classic perfume with a pinch of authentic and unique.
The bottle is massive. Not sure about staying power, I cant smell it in half an hour, either its gone or I cant smell it. I’ll see later if it stays on my clothes the next day.
Update: Ok, Staying power is close to zero. On my skin – gone in 15 min. On clothes approx 3 hours, sometimes less sometimes a bit more, but either way you can hardly smell it, not even sure if its Oriens or my Fantasy by Britney (That one actually lasts)… Another perfume on to the “Worthless perfumes that smell nice but don’t last…”shelf. I hate it when the perfume is not cheap, but doesn’t last, waste of money if you cant enjoy your perfume! 🙁 Very disappointing… I mean where are you going to use it when it doesnt last? Carry a 100ml bottle with you all the time or use it as a 35 euro toilet refresher? Lovely fragrance, but would not repurchase only because it’s staying power.
Update II: Ok, it stays on the clothes a little longer, still you have get really close to smell it…

Obviously the bottle is gorgeous. This is definately is a good perfume but too strong for everyday use. I have to be in the mood to wear it. The times I enjoyed wearing it were at night when I was wearing an elegant sexy outfit and went on a date to a restaurant. On my skin I smell a lot of patchouli, sweet fruits and some white florals. This is a gourmand smell that is sophisticated and grown up but it can sometimes irritate the nose.
    Update:
I love smelling the drydown, especially on others but sadly last time I wore this it triggered a migraine (of course it wasn’t the only cause but it was one of them). The first blast of patchouli and syrupy berries was too overwhelming. If I could only hold my breath till this settles down (which would be 20 mins lol) I had to give this away. 🙁

How come nobody compared this to Mugler’s Innocent?!
They even obviously share the majority of dominant notes. I did a side by side sampling of both and the result represents just what it looks like according to the ingredient collage here: Oriens is basically Innocent with patch. Both very sticky – in terms of sweetness and longevity. I would highly recommend this little gem to anyone who enjoys popular fruitychoulies, but would like a kick of class in it.
For those who love themselves flirty, happy gourmands, but are sensitive to patchouli, Innocent could be a better choice.

This reminds me a lot of Rihanna’s Rebelle & Reb’l Fleur. I suppose it is quite delicious really but it just lacks complexity and attitude. I love the bottle. Quite nice but a bit boring, smells like everything else atm tbh. Taken off of my want list.

  36. :

This is much nicer than I had expected! Its nothing earth shattering but it smells good. Almost like a milder and more grown up Flowerbomb or Jimmy Choo. I can definitely see the Miss Dior Cherie comparison. Its not a dupe to my nose but there are similarities. The patchouli in this is not harsh but very smooth and is well blended with the vanilla and sweet fruits. Am happy with this blind buy.

When i first applied this a few weeks ago, i were not sure at all because it smelled chemical and even plastic.
I tried this again today and to my surprise, nothing chemcial and plastic has emerged despite i sniffed very hard trying to find them!
In hotter weather, i get more berries from the start with chocolate throughout. in the cooler temperature however, the strong chocolate sweetness scent is dominant from the very start. It reminds me of the opening of Angel. As time passes (say an hour) the strong sweetness thankfully calms down to give place to fint floral scent. when i move, there is also curious hint of berries playing hide and seek. It is a perfume with twist and turns.
From not liking it to love it. I think this perfum behaves very differently in different weather. I prefer to apply it in hotter day since the sweetness in colder day is a bit too heavy. It borderline headache inducing. maybe the solution is to apply it on the waist not the neck….

You can not buy this in my country, but i fell in love with the bottle and the reviews, so i blind bought it. my first thought was “synthetic” but it grew on me, and now i love the praline, blackcurrant, flowey smell from this. i must admit that i almost got addicted for a moment. love the smell. all ages can wear this, but i think you should try this out, before buying.

  39. :

Wonderful bottle (as jewelries made by Van Cleef) and very chic scent. Not for everyone. Def not a perfume to wear on hot days or tropical weather places. It gets too much sweet, powdery and aggressive to the nose on those places/days.
It’s a strong perfume for strong feelings, but very refined as an orient scent should be.
As I said, not a daily perfume, neither for everyone. But a must-have, for sure.

  40. :

To me, this perfume is very similar to Kors by Michael Kors.

  41. :

    4 out of 5

A lot of people claim this smells akin to Coco M. And Miss Dior Cherie but I don’t get that. It’s a very fine scent. Warm, smooth, and spicy. It’s very complex but I don’t get any sweet fruity notes in there. Lots of amber and a smooth spice but no fruit and certainly no praline. It is very nice, though. I would definitely wear it.

  42. :

    4 out of 5

This lovely composition has echoes of Miss Dior Cherie, Yves Rocher So Elixir, Diesel Fuel for Life Femme and even Coco Mademoiselle, thanks to the jasmine-patchouli combination. It is safe and classy, just as the bestsellers listed above, perfect for a day when you do not want to force your nose into anything particularly controversial.
What I like in this scent is the strong amber accent, which gives it exactly the aura of Escentric Molecules – Molecule 02. It is also a perfect combination with the latter.
However, I am not a fan of the patchouli note present in here, as it isn’t multidimensional at all (I equally hate it in Cherie, So Elixir etc.), although I know that this very detail is the one that may have made it so popular.
Sadly, due to the poor longevity I could only enjoy the scent for about 3 hours.

  43. :

I’m not a lover of oriental flagrancies but I’m glad to purchase this one.
I thought that this oriental notes come from peper. But after more profound investigations and tests I can say that it comes exactly from patchouli and amber.
Hopefully I do not get lot of them in this particular perfume with my skin chemistry. I get more flowery oriental scent than just oriental. I can detect white flowers, raspberries and vanillia that gives this slight sweetness to the flagrance. But no pralines if not it would be much sweety and overwhelming. Patchouli with these very oriental notes appear in the very end of the dry down something like 10-12 hours later hopefully.
Really good flagrance for winter with a very lasting power.

I find it quite fine! It’s full of patchouli, praline and nice raspberry so for me, it couldn’t be bad.
Sweet, but not too much. Pleasant, but not boring. A good composition!
The only weird thing about it is the bottle, but that’s not that imporatant, I guess.
I would recommend it to the patchouli lovers.

As much as I wanted to like this one, I’m finding the opening bitter and mediciney. After 1 hour, I feel encircled by a healing cloak of “MEDICINE!” I keep waiting for some sweet notes but really, am not getting even 1. It reminds me of Miss Dior (new formulation where they have taken Miss Dior Cherie and renamed it Miss Dior ….available all major retailers in stores now) ……VERY SIMILAR. Desperately wanted to like it because I LOVE Van Cleef Van Cleef! But this is just not my kind of scent. 🙁
Will update later: Maybe drydown will be miraculous, although I’m not sure it could be worth the beginning for me.

This is just beautiful. I haven’t been this impressed by a scent in a long time. I love chypre florals, especially when they are dominated by patchouli. However, sometimes on my skin, citrus mixed with patchouli can get a little weird. Thank goodness, I don’t get much citrus from this at all. I’ve been wearing Coco Mademoiselle for almost a decade and I don’t smell any similarities at all. This is much more light and airy. It is very elegant, sweet, and smooth. I thought it was going to be sharper but it is blended so well. The praline really gives it a nice roundness while the mix with of patchouli and raspberry really create a gorgeous aroma. I think the praline is what really sets this apart from Miss Dior Cherie and Coco M. While I don’t think this smells like Coco M, I do smell similarities to Miss Dior Cherie. If you like Miss Dior Cherie, you will probably like this. I find it much sweeter and airier than Coco M so I can’t say for sure if Coco M fans will love this, but it’s a total love for me!
Oh and one of the most beautiful bottles in my collection!

Oh yeah…. Another fruit-patchouli I was afraid to blind buy because I loathe patchouli…. but this is wonderful! It’s mature, dark, sweet, fruity… sweet yet not quite overly feminine. Reminds me of raisins and raspberries in caramel! It’s not cloying per se- but softly lasts and lasts. While sometimes I can’t smell it on myself, I get a whiff of it throughout the day and it always smells different. Well made! Doesn’t last on my skin, but very long lasting on clothing.
I bought the small cute 1/3oz bottle and promptly bought a bigger 3.3 oz. I can’t wait to get this sprayed on myself!
Update: The 3.3 oz is here, and damn…. you can always use this bottle as a weapon! Gorgeous heavy bottle! I love it!
Update: Yesterday when I stepped out in the cold, I got a rich creamy chocolate whiff. I love this perfume!
I mixed 3 sprays Oriens and one spray Hanae Mori EDP– awesome. The HM adds more vanilla/sweet/light to the heavier spice of Oriens. Love!

I bought it blindly, and do not regret it! Refined oriental fragrance, sweet but not cloying, love it! Reminds me Miss Dior

This scent is VERY light and a skin scent. I’m going to have to layer this scent that’s how light it it. The things I don’t like about this scent is its too light and on me I can ONLY smell raspberry.. This was a waste of $33.00. Oh how I wish I had my money.

For those having problems with lasting power and projection (Oriens does tend to sit fairly close on the skin), the lotion is fairly readily available and won’t break the bank. Try applying the matching lotion to the areas where you intend to spritz and see if that doesn’t increase the intensity and duration of the wear!

I just received this scent in the mail. I will be layering this Miss Dior Cherie to create a lasting power, because I can only smell the raspberry and and praline. I will be reviewing this scent again to see if it smells and different. I pray to God I didn’t waste my money!!

First of all I must say that Fragrantica photo doesn’t do a bottle any justice. Van Cleefs & Arpels create incredible jewellery so it reflects in their bottle design. The scent itself is a like in my books. At first I get a burst of fruitchouli and vanilla, as if I layered Miss Dior and Angel…then it settles to raspberry jam and patchouli combo which stays fairly close to skin. Given how popular similar scent are I am surprised that it hasn’t gained more popularity.

I admit there is a intital and vauge recemblance to Coco Madmoiselle but it disappears quickly. I do not consider this as a sister or even a second cousin to Coco Madmoiselle.
Oriens is much sweeter and the chocolate is distinct.
In my opinion it is more related to Elisabeth Arden Untold.
I would strongly recommend that you try before you buy.
Otherwise Van Cleef does great and longlasting fragrances that i enjoy, If you are into sweet an gourmandy fragrances this may be great value.

this is syrupy and sickly sweet in warmer weather, so i waited until winter to try it again, and i’m so glad i did.
the scent, for me, opens up with white florals, and after a few minutes, trails off into the most expensive box of fruit chocolates imaginable i’m so happy, as i was afraid i wouldn’t be able to wear it – definitely a winter scent for me!

Beautiful, classy, sweet patchouli scent – hence the comparisons to Miss Dior and Coco M. However, the praline in Oriens makes it a more candied/chocolate-like kind of sweet in comparison. I suppose this could be considered the wintery long distant relative of Miss D. and Coco M. because the scent is definitely thicker, heavier and deeper. I love it.
Oriens is a well-blended quality fragrance in a gorgeous bottle. If you like slightly sweet patchouli scents, you’ll enjoy this.
I agree with Juliana6 below, as her review is more detailed.
I would just like to double add that the bottle is absolutely stunning! Pictures do not do this elegant bottle justice. I’m so happy I’ve added it to my collection.

This is my first fragrance which has gone from the shelf “dislike” to the shelf “love”.
