Description

Ayala Moriel launches a new masculine fragrance, first of the collection presented in a spray bottle, just in time for the Father’s Day 2011. The fragrance is named Orcas and it captures the scents of ocean that faces woods, inspired by the harmonious elements of Wild Pacific Trail nature.

“Anyone who has worn Orcas has commented that it is a very distinctive concoction,” says Ayala Moriel. “But when combined with natural oils in the skin, it really blossoms into something quite attractive – a quality every scent should have, I think.”

The fragrance opens with light and refreshing notes of ginger, lime and cedar wood. Seaweed, Egyptian geranium and boronia are in the heart, placed on the deep and woody base of cedar moss, blue spruce and ambergris.

Orcas is available as Eau de Parfum in 15 ml vials at the price of 120 USD.

Aquatic in the true sense of the word, rather than the synthetic “aquatics” which just pierce right through to the base of skull.
The beauty here is that Ayala sought to capture an experience, and she did so successfully. This is isn’t the “movie inspired by the book”, this is the real deal. Standing in a Pacific Northwest forest with peeks through the trees of waves being lashed by wind, making them bleed white foam. Sap alive in the trees surrounding you. The sweetness of moss dried in the sun. It’s all in here.

This is a very herbaceous scent with coniferous wood and marine notes. Very fresh, natural and brisk. There are definitely notes of rosemary and sage and I get a fairly strong cypress note. I can see this being amazing on an outdoorsy guy or one that wants to give that impression. It was apparently inspired by the ‘breathtaking scenery of the Wild Pacific Trail’. Since I can smell the ocean, the trees and the crisp air, I’d say Ayala nailed it.
