I had used the body wash version of this scent, and it actually caused my skin to become mottled and itchy; nothing before or since then has caused the reaction, so I would pass on this after shave based solely on not wanting to risk that again. I avoid Old Spice products these days, might be gun shy, but none of the fragrances are worth the risk. Just my two cents.

Old Spice Wolfthorn is an interesting scent. I get some slight orange to it but I also get some spice and some floral. I think it is somewhere along Cuba Orange, but Cuba Orange has far better longevity though this has some more to it than just green nettle, citrus and vanilla.
Wolfthorn is something that is fairly inoffensive. It is a gym scent in that it won’t be a problem unless it is freshly sprayed. It is a pleasant citrus smelling new car smell version of Cuba Orange. It smells almost like the new car smell tree air fresheners. If you ever wanted that in a bottle, check out Wolfthorn.
Now I am not sure if I say this is feminine like other reviewers have said. I think this might be unisex in smell, but not fully feminine, kind of like CK One. The florals are there but not feminine and there is a little bit of spice too.
Performance is a bit of an issue though. I find that the body spray lasts longer than the eau de cologne. As mentioned in my Old Spice Classic review, Wolfthorn is passed off as an EDT, but performance is that of an EDC, albeit a good one for initial projection. After the initial project dissipates after about an hour and a half, good luck getting anything else from Wolfthorn. My suggestion is get the body spray and use that, the EDC is a waste of money even for the price.
I nearly love the smell of Wolfthorn, but performance kills it for me. I got two bottles of it for the price of one and I’ll use up my first but my second, no idea. If anyone is interested, I’ll PIF it. Rating wise, I can’t rate it higher than a 6.1 due to performance issues.

Disapointing. The deodorant stick smells great. The after shave smells like a lemon based product to wash the dishes. And it burns like hell! I will not buy again.

I have the deodorant and the body spray. I love the deodorant. I think the sweet, bright orange scent is perfection. So I decided to try the body spray in hopes that Old Spice had managed to bottle that beautiful orange smell. No such luck. All I got at first was a blast of alcohol that takes a long time to dry. After that, it has no sillage, and smells like every other cheap men’s body spray (think a less obnoxious variation on Axe). My husband claimed the body spray for himself, and I’m fine with giving it to him. If any of you know where I can find the smell of the deodorant in a bottle, please let me know!

I used some of my brother’s aftershave, ahem… after a shave.
Based on most of the reviews here, I was waiting for the scent of bug spray ; nope.
I did however get the orange sherbert scent ala Austin Powers, and there’s a floral note tucked away in there somewhere. It reminds one of their grandma, but it certainly wasn’t off-putting to me. I have a nice grandma.
I was really surprised at how well blended this is. Yes it is a little sweet, but so what? You know that Old Spice is trying to swindle millenials out of their money, don’t you?
So this is really enjoyable, seriously. There’s a nod to the classic old spice in it- in the form of citrus.
And one last thing : if this is what your bug spray smells like in the USA, consider yourselves a lucky nation.

I was dabbing into men’s body sprays out of curiosity and was originally wanting to buy axe dark temptation but it was sold out. Saw the old spice body sprays and thought, why not. Sniffed around and boiled down the choices to two scents: Amber and wolfthorn. I ended up purchasing amber, it being the sweeter smelling of the two, but kept wondering about wolfthorn. I came here to fragrantica, and though no notes or description is listed, am surprised by how the reviews say it’s feminine. Thought it was just me. Will probably buy it if I’m still curious next time I see it.

Bunch of synthetic flower notes, this is complete femmy scent…

I, too, am a woman and have this in deodorant form. There is nothing masculine about this scent, it smells like sour candy, i find it to be a very delicious, addictive scent. I just cant get enough of it. IT is indeed weird that this is advertised as a mens fragrance

I am a woman and I have this in deodorant form. I find it extremely feminine, even childish, it smells like candy on me. I love it, but I don’t understand why this is being labeled as “for men”. Do men want to smell like candy?

At first application Wolfthorn is strong soapy and synthetic. Be patient. A minute later it smells of meyer lemon, pine, and cedar. If I rub my skin where it was applied the scent mellows and sweeter notes of melon with hints of passionfruit come out of hiding. 15 minutes later it’s just a clean masculine just showered / fresh linens kind of scent.
I don’t think that I’d wear this out of the house. It’d best be suited for a lazy day at home spent lounging in your pajamas when you just want a fresh clean scent. Good for cuddling watching Netflix.

Wolfthorn… What a crap name. I hope it’s paw healed up alright. Bracing, commanding bitchslap of a fragrance, applied to wage battle with co-workers who marinate in lesser scents. Think animal pheromones while the canine is laughing. Peculiar mix, but I sure don’t detect funky chemicals or repellents. Great silage and longevity, stays on for days through heat and sweat, even blood. Ruggedly clean. Envelops you in a modest cloud warding off bad odors. Escapes vulgarity by the thinnest wolf-hair. Sounds like many body chemistry fails abound. Lucky me!

This is a review of the aftershave.
I find there is nothing at all wrong with this fragrance, it is designed as an aftershave ‘skin-bracer’ and that is exactly what it does. It starts and ends with a fresh orange citrus note, but the main difference that I have noticed is that these notes last a lot longer than all other citrus notes you’ve ever experienced. I find this fragrance perfectly fine for the price point.

Update: I have to toss it! Yes, it smells like fruit punch, BUT… there’s a B.O. note in there, the same kind of note that caused me to toss Bearglove. So far… the ONLY Old Spice deodorant I like is Aqua Reef.

What a surprise (small surprise). I am wearing the deodorant version, and I bought it because it has a touch of WATERMELON in it (but not too feminine, IMO). Yes, slightly soapy (only slightly), but mostly fruity. I wish all the notes were listed, even the Old Spice website doesn’t give any notes, not one.
UPDATE: Now I can easily smell the lemonade. But not just regular lemonade, PINK lemonade. Not bad, in fact, one of my favorites from Old Spice. FINAL UPDATE: Funny how it takes awhile to see what is right before your eyes… Wolfthorn smells EXACTLY like fruit punch!

A very sweet frag. Very nauseating. I can’t recommend this. Think it gave me a headache as well.

Got a deodorant-one of the worst scents i’ve smelled. Dislike it-smells like lemon candy or synthetic lemonade. Word wolf would suggest something masculine but no-i actually think kids would wear this.

Wow, lol. I am laughing at some of these reviews and SO glad that the bottle I ordered blind doesn’t smell like what some others have related.
Bug spray? You bet … for the first few minutes. Think of ‘Off!’ mixed with something else. Then it quickly dries down to some kind of hybrid of Luna Rossa and orange sherbet, yet it is not a sweet fragrance. Very unique, fresh and distinctive. A moderate application lasts for about 4 hours. Average sillage and projection. I don’t wear fragrance to get compliments but it’s worth noting that I received many while wearing this.
Because of the multiple bug spray comments, I won’t recommend Wolfthorn as a blind buy. Still, you owe it to yourself to sample it if possible. I was very pleasantly surprised by this effort from Shulton.

I thought I was the only one that this cologne smelled like roach and aunt spray. Another review here says it smells like bug spray. At first it is a little citrusy, then like 15 min later, I can’t tell if it is raid or black flag. I got this as a Christmas present and only used just to put something on. The original old spice is not bad at all. I wonder why they stopped making the fresh scent cologne as well. Hope this helps.

I am generally a fan of Old Spice fragrances so when I saw this I decided to try it, as I had not heard of it before. It is a very clean “fresh” smelling scent. It reminds me of fresh laundry out of the dryer. One thing I find interesting is that for quite a while Old Spice had a scent called Fresh, maybe this is the same thing but repackaged with a new name? Im not sure. As others have said, it does have some resemblance to Cool Water, but I like this a lot more. I think it has a bit stronger of a lavender note to it that helps it stand out. It is a bit synthetic smelling, but not in a bad way. I don’t wear it often, but it is very nice to spray on after a shower for an added sense of cleanliness. The lasting power is around 3 hours on my skin, so there certainly are longer lasting fragrances out there. For the price, its not bad. If you like fresh, slightly soapy, fragrances this will please you.

I got this for Christmas and love it. What a bargain. The cologne smells nothing like the shower gel in my opinion. This could be one of the best values out there right now. It doesn’t last very long. It has a nice citrus and spice smell. Very nice.

    @apon islam
Few days ago I smelled Boss bottled intense – Hugo boss, and after few mins I was constantly reminded of Old spice Wolfthorn.
    I do love both honestly.

It has a lovely fruity scent. Give it a try, I usually use it for everyday wear.

It’s interesting to see a modern fragrance packaged in the old, cheap, plastic old spice bottle. I like the sprayer so much better than the dab-on. Makes me feel like I’m in 2015 instead of 1924. The fragrance itself is an addictive blend of fruity tic tacs, shower fresh, bug spray and a hit of bathroom cleaner that I absolutely adore! This is for someone under 20 that enjoys extremely fresh, synthetic and almost chemically smells. If you like that sort of thing, I’d say go for it! It barely lasts though. So you have to douse yourself to get any longevity out of it. Thank god it’s dirt cheap though!

As a female, I *Love* this product, but the thing is, I love it on ME. I bought this for my boyfriend, but when I smelled it I knew I had to keep it for myself. I think, and I have had friends agree, that it is a very usinex fragrance, if not only female. It’s very sweet smelling and clean, and does not have that “men cologne” scent.

I have the deodorant body spray version of Wolfthorn, which claims “one spray lasts all day”. This is not 100% accurate, but three sprays DID last all day (12 hours). There is a fairly strong, and pretty decent given the low price, ambergris/civet accord, plus a violet leaf/citrus blend. The total effect reminds me a little of a locally made solid perfume, called “Coyote Fur”, sort of a “freshly washed furry creature”. NOT “wet dog”, but a pleasantly animalic fragrance that is suitable for daytime (used lightly).
Wolfthorn’s sillage is good, not overpowering but you do get a nice cloud of scent.
I don’t see how some people say Wolfthorn is “sweet”, it does not smell sweet on me at all.I really enjoy the ambergris/civet accord, it is something different from the usual.
    UPDATE:
A male co-worker wears this on occasion. On HIM there is a bit more of a sweet pink grapefruit accord (DELIGHTFUL, actually, I just want to sit there and inhale his fumes), other than that it is the same. I wonder if this is a hormonal “thing”.

Basically Cool Water, with a good tobacco note for the price. It has a bit more citrus, a few touches brighter than the Davidoff, and there’s a decent neroli note in here also. Surprisingly quite good, and actually preferable to the latest version of CW, which smells very flat and simplified in comparison.

Dang. I wanted to like this…
I like the fiji bodywash and the wolfsthorn bodywash– the fiji bodywash is pineapple/vanilla/tropical and wofsthorn smells like passion fruit, mango, musk — and other sweet things –
I am also a fan of their ridiculous advertising campaign that challenges older more formal PR models.
So I was excited to discover that there were colognes for some of these new old spice fragrances — especially because they are cheap – and I have always hoped for some company to show up all the fancy designers by producing a really affordable awesome smelling product… but, alas, no dice… The wolfsthorn cologne does not smell like the bodywash — smells okay – like dryer sheets or detergent or car deodorizer or urinal disc … something clean-ish but not sexy. Out of the colognes, the Denali smells the best- it has a green note that works alright but really these are disappointing.
