From Lord Byron’s She Walks In Beauty
She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.
One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o’er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express,
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place
This was a limited edition flanker of Nuits de Noho. It’s a shame they didn’t continue to sell this and I believe it should have picked up more sales and should have become more popular. It had notes that are usually big winners: jasmine patchouli and vanilla. This was a sweet and aromatic fragrance, heavy and light, and despite the fact that it was only a three-note fragrance it smelled more complex and meaningful. It smelled very luxurious and evoked a chandelier whose warm glow is seen from outside looking in through a window of a New York City townhouse. That’s exactly what came to my mind. It also evokes the image of a beautiful elegant woman dressed in an evening gown lighting candlesticks on a dinner table but again as seen from outside looking in. The patchouli is acting like incense here and it’s warm with an unlisted note of musk. The vanilla sweetened up the fragrance. The jasmine was a night blooming jasmine very pretty and sweet. It was a fragrance of beautiful jasmine and patchouli. I love the pairing. The scent can not even be purchased on ebay now such a shame. But I’m glad that it’s mine. The bottle looks great with little crystal chandeliers on the stopper.
