Nocturne is a lovely, light floral scent. For me, even after the dry down the lilac note was very intense and about the only note I could smell. Out of the bottle and initially, I could smell tuberose but that quickly faded. I couldn’t smell the violet at all.
I would say this perfume is great if you want a soft, floral scent that’s not overpowering. And it is a good scent for women whose body chemistry melds well with light floral scents.

I found Nocturne to be just as moody and somber as advertised. I absolutely love this scent from BPAL and it’s been far too long since I have used my bottle. It’s time for another! I don’t think it smells cheap at all. This is probably the only BPAL scent I’ve ever considered full bottles of. The only other contender I can think of is possibly Ophelia. Both are gorgeous.
If Nocturne were a color, it would be a dark, blue-leaning purple. It is definitely floral, boasting only three noticeable notes, all of which are flowers! So if you don’t like in-your-face floral notes, I would avoid this one; there is NO getting around the violet, lilac or tuberose in here. It’s soft – not in terms of sillage, but in terms of its feel; if you could touch it, it would feel like a chenille sweater.
Nocturne is beautiful, especially for being a scent with so few components. It is not complex, it is straightforward lilac/violet/tuberose in equal parts on my skin, but in a sleepy way as opposed to a searing floral screech. I love it.

Sharp, perfume-y florals. I was looking for a moody, dark floral scent but this was nothing like that. Just screaming flowers that smelled like a cheaply manufactured drug-store scent. Disappointed.
