Description
Niral opens a new series of fragrances by the brand.
Note from the brand:
“The fragrance NIRAL (unique, calm, serene) is a perfume inspired by an interesting and unique relationship between British sericulture expert, author, printing-dyeing industrialist Sir Thomas Wardle (1831-1909) and India, celebrating his immense contribution to the promotion of Indian wild silk trade from Bengal and Kashmir to Europe.
Wardle’s contribution may have been forgotten but he in uenced and collaborated with several great textile artists and silk printers of his genera- tion such as William Morris (1834-1896), Léon-Victor Solon (1873-1957) and a number of in uential artists from the Art and Craft movement.Wardle perfected the technique for natural dyeing of the textured “tussar” silk, achieving stunning jewel toned colours re ected in our new box. His wife, Lady Elizabeth Wardle, founded the Leek Embroidery Society working on artistic needlework projects with tussar silk.NIRAL, through its blend of rich raw materials is an ode to this quietly forceful silk ambassador. The perfume opens with iris, tea and liqueur notes weaving an intricate pattern with oral notes and spices akin to the textural delight of a piece of tussar silk, and symbolizing a unique relationship between two countries linked by a common heritage.”
Niral was launched in 2018. The nose behind this fragrance is Bertrand Duchaufour.

Very nice iris fragrance. I wouldn’t buy it, though. And after six hours on my skin it ends up smelling like rubbing alcohol.

Niral is a stellar, refined iris with a lovely gauziness. It celebrates iris in all its opulent glory and has just the right mix of earthiness to powder. It’s a shape-shifter, like all the Neela Vermeire fragrances, so if you aren’t prepared for a journey, find something more linear.
For perfume lovers, it’s got EVERYTHING we fantasize about for iris and smells LUXE.

I have Niral and is a very beautiful soft floral where Iris, Magnolia and sandalwood are the prominent notes. The dry down is a gorgeous woody floral and the sillage and longevity are moderate.

I think there’s a lovely fragrance here, but unfortunately for me it’s overwhelmed by a huge blast of what I suppose must be Iso E Super, to judge by its painful effect on my sinuses. Those who are fortunate enough not to be sensitive to Iso E Super will probably find Niral to be beautiful.

Magnolia’s leather.
It’s rubbery leathery blend of magnolia with slight sweet salty leather. It has iris, cedar, champagne, tires, on magnolia and leather.
I kind of smell some similarity with “Dangerous Complicity” by Etat Libre d’Oranger! And I believe this would fit “Tom Of Finland” by Etat Libre d’Oranger perfectly as it smells like a leather on flesh … most probably clean soapy sweet leather.
Fair.

‘Niral’ is a somewhat interesting soft feminine floral creation by Neela Vermiere and Bertrand Duchaufour centered around a central note of iris. The Iris is surrounded by a variety of floral and woody notes with a middle consisting of pepper, tea, rose, green leaves, angelica, ambrette, cardamom, and leather. It finally dries down into a powdery base of magnolia, jasmine, sandalwood, and cedar with the prominent iris note. This is sweet and pleasing but unfortunately not very unique or unisex at all. The scent is blended well and has a pleasing moderate projection/sillage and moderate longevity. Recommended for Neela completists only and not a place to start with this brand as this is one of their weaker offerings. I will have to pass buying a full bottle and am truly sorry about this decidedly mixed review but candidly that is how I feel about this new offering.
