I want to marry this perfume oil and have its musky babies. I had basically given up on testing any new musk scents (they all smell too dirty for my liking) until a kind member offered this to me in a swap. Rose almost never works on me, yet this is perfect. I sometimes struggle with plum and lemon notes, but here they are glorious. Smooth, clean, natural. It’s perfect.

Anime Musk. New Musk Oil has a gorgeous complexity. A soft yet tart plum is detectable upfront with lemon and a compelling lack of sweetness. Next the green-white florals appear with a cozy white musk and the composition grows rounder, sweetening up like a ripening fruit. Like a beautiful androgynous anime character with a shock of silver-purple hair, whose sweat smells like fresh plum skin and flowers.
I’m still not sure whether this will end up being the musk for me, but I definitely recommend it as a deliciously complex and effortlessly wearable skin scent for men or women. It keeps me bringing my nose to my wrist, to revisit my newfound tiny sparkling world.

Ooh, this is really good. It’s such a clean and fresh musk with plum, rose, and lemon. This will be a must buy for me when my sample runs out. A fantastic unisex musk!

This is an alluring, yet comfortable, skin musk that makes me want to sniff my wrists maniacally. I love wearing this at bedtime…perfect for attraction as well as sweet dreams.

Absolutely adore this. Had my first whiff at Tigerlily perfumery and found it nice but meh. Later at dinner, however, I kept getting whiffs of the most incredibly unique, soft, enveloping comfort. Like traces of scent on a clean sheet of thick, handmade paper, warm from ironing. Clean sensuality for adult humans. I was enamored and could not stop talking about it so my husband surprised me with a bottle before I had the chance to pick it up myself – at first he had the same reaction, “Why do you like this?” An hour later he was smitten and is now stealing it from me on the regular. It wears wonderfully on him in a very different, equally astonishing way. Totally unique, totally lovely, wonderfully unisex, and so so affordable??? How do you do it, Dame?? Love love love!

Well I don’t know about the exact notes I smell, but I just want to roll in this stuff. It’s like a good hug, mixed with black tea and cloves, with a pinch of baby lotion, some rose lipstick, a sprig of mint, and a bite of nilla wafer. Then it’s all smoothed together like silk. I know that doesn’t match the note profile but it triggers all these great images if I just take little whiffs. All very nice smells rolled into one lovely impression.
It has that thick and grounded texture, warm and smooth and really nice. I guess that is the musk. Musk gives it a plumpness.
I’d like all people to smell like this. Maybe I’d like some of them better if they did. At the very least, some of us can! This is a winner musk scent and a nice everyday, anyone smell. I love this oil and already dread running out.

Dame Perfumery Scottsdale is one of my favorite houses and never disappoints. I have been searching for the perfect musk scent for years and was never able to find one that didn’t scream from my pores or last more than a couple of hours. Dame’s New Musk Oil is exactly what I have been looking for!
The opening of New Musk is where it’s at. It’s no surprise that musk is the dominant note in this fragrance, but the sharp edges have been sanded down by a gentle bouquet of lily of the valley, rose, & dainty plum. Its clean, low key freshness is soothing, but with a rather cool tone. Imagine a sunny spring day where all of the flowers are in full bloom. There are freshly laundered sheets hanging on the clothes line and the chilled breeze is whipping them into a frenzy. Add a plum tart to the window sill and you have the opening of New Musk. This phase lasts for 1-2hrs before settling into a gentler fragrance, while still retaining many of the original notes.
Like so many musks, this one rests close to the skin and works with your body heat/chemistry. There were times when I thought that the scent had disappeared , only to be gifted with periodic wafts of musk & florals throughout the day. New Musk is an unobtrusive scent that stays with you for 10hrs+, making it the longest lasting musk I have worn. (Oils tend to wear well on my skin, so this could also be a factor.) Overall, this fragrance is pleasant, inviting, and an absolute steal for this level of quality and performance. Love!

This smells like Luster’s Pink Oil Hair Moisturizer and a lot of other black hair care products.

I have had this for quite some time, dabbing it on now and again, finding it pleasant but not really giving it a full day’s wear. Out of a DP sampler pack, it was the only scent I liked, so I ordered a 5ml.
Today I am giving it a full run, albeit layered with Valentino Uomo. It is a beautiful clean musk, created by a combination of florals with musk, though does not really come off floral. It’s an oil, so no drydown to speak of. By clean it by no means reads bland; simply that I find it excellent for warm weather wear and along with the aforementioned VU is such a soothing, refreshing fragrance after a winter of wearing powerhouse ambers, dark woods and creamy vanillas.
Very good job by DP capturing just the essence I need for a spring/summer fragrance. Others have detected something akin to lemon in this; I do not. Just try it yourself and see how it interacts with your chemistry. I paid $10 for 5ml so you won’t be out much money if you don’t care for it.
PS – the light woods and soft vanilla of VU create a unique and lovely aroma!

Got a sample of this with my order very generous. I like this kind of musk. It reminds me of the way you smell after a hot bath with cake soap then wrap up in a clean terry cloth towel. I will be wearing this when I get out of the shower and bedtime. Very relaxing almost therapeutic scent.
By the way, try the Osmanthus oil and spray the most realistic to date of my beloved New Orleans sweet olive trees.

I have a small bottle of this, and I find it very enjoyable. It’s not my favorite from Dame Perfumery, because my heart lies with Maté Heliotrope. But it’s a nice, crisp, fruity (sweet lemon), white musk. It is understated and very androgynous, but still too readily and easily enjoyable to be commonplace. And while we are on the topic of white musk, I have tried so many of them lately. Even Serge Lutens Clair de Musc just basically emulates Jovan White Musk, something I used to enjoy for under $10 in the 80’s, so I can’t get excited about it. New Musk Oil is more aptly described as “New White Musk Oil” (but that would be too long), because that is what it actually is. White musk with a twist. Of lemon. If you are looking for animalic, look elsewhere. If you are looking for crystal clean, laundry musk that is distinctive, I would highly recommend this. In the oil concentraion, it lasts a very long time and has a cozy projection. An A+ musk.

This was the perfume that gave me Mr. Dame’s complete concept of Modern American Perfumery. Throughout the day I would catch scent of soft creamy, delicious “skin musk”. Continuously I would want to smell it again for another breath of its beauty. This is “that secret smell”. The smell whenever someone walks by you and all you can think is “They sure do smell great!”. Not strong, overpowering, or too expensive smelling. Yet this applies to male or female! Wow! How did he do that?!

I received my free sample of this fragrance yesterday from the very generous Mr. Dame and of all those received, am wearing this to my office today. Although the product label indicated that the fragrance is intended for men, IMHO this scent is perfectly unisex. So fresh, light, and clean. Definitely a musk, but such a lovely interpretation, with the floral aspects giving it lift and sweetness. I do not wish to layer, this enveloping, satisfying scent stands completely on its own.

I have really been enjoying my samples of this in EDC and in oil formats (with gratitude to Dame Perfumery for the complementary samples!). This is a soft, lovely, very clean musk with fruit, floral, and woody accents. Initially it doesn’t strike me as a musk fragrance, per se; I get a healthy dose of rose and lovely plum alongside the musk for the first 20 minutes or so. A few minutes after application, I get a lightly green note added to the mix from the lily of the valley. After 20 minutes or so, the plum and florals recede into the background, and the vanilla and sandalwood begin to really shine. I get a good 12 hours from the oil with moderate sillage, while the EDC gives me about 7 hours with stronger sillage.
New Musk is great on its own as a casual, easy to wear fragrance, but it also pairs well with several of the other Dame Perfumery fragrances. So far my favorites pairings are with 2 Dame fragrances I already love on their own: Dark Horse (it seems to mute the spices and amplify the guiac and carnation notes) and Black Flower Mexican Vanilla (which smells even softer and creamier, with a light floral touch). I recently ordered some of the new soliflore absolutes from the line, and am looking forward to seeing how those layer with New Musk.

Received my 5ml bottle from Jeffery today (thanks so much for your generosity!) It’s a softly sensuous musk, sweet and clean. Very nice, stays close to the skin and lasts forever. A great layering scent for sure. Looking forward to playing with this one.

I can only echo what GodKing said. I too got my sample of this (thank you, Jeff!). I also believe this is more suited to ladies. It’s NOT animalic at all, but rather very flowery. The only reason I would not buy it is because on me it smells exactly the same as Hermes’ Rouge of which I have a bottle. I sprayed each one on a different arm and they are indistinguishable. However, I will have a lot of fun mixing this with other scents. 🙂
Even if you’re not too keen on musk, give this a try. It really is very pleasant.

Just tried my samples of New Musk Oil and New Musk Man Cologne received in the mail. Initial impression…simply a beautiful musky-floral fragrance with some sweet-woodsy nuances in the background. To me, it’s better suited for the ladies, but you be the judge. I had my three daughters smell both and they loved, loved, love ’em, which is saying a lot since they’re not fragheads. Heck, they gave my Amouage Jubilation Man and Parfums de Marly Pegasus that annoying, “It’s okay” seal or I don’t care when I opened them Christmas Eve.

as a point of product information, Dame Perfumery New Musk OIl and New Musk-Man-Cologne contain the exact same essential oil – same recipe, same formula, no difference; simply two forms of fragrance application.
