Thanks to a recent generous swap partner for this nice sized sample. I gave it to my husband and I really really enjoy it on him. He’s so funny because he isn’t eager about fragrance the way I am, not at all. The only bottles he owns are what I’ve purchased for him as gifts and he sticks with his small rotation. But whenever I give him samples labeled for men that i like he gives the little sprayer one quick sniff and sets it out where it’s easily accessible. The next day or whenever he’ll pick it up, spray it on without a thought and doesn’t say a word about it until I do. I’m beginning to think he actually really enjoys these random little scented treats.
Yesterday this whole process happened with New Musk. Picked it up, sprayed it on, not a word about it til I noticed. As we were walking out the door I caught a whiff of something lovely I’d never smelled before. It was this. Man, what a good first impression! What struck me was its freshness and enthusiastic “I’m ready for the day” zing. It even had me feeling peppy. It’s fresh and clean. A little tart, a little fruity, a little woody. The clean musk blended naturally and beautifully with his skin and the outdoor crisp air. The name is apt because the musk here indeed smells like a new take on it. I wonder if they actually used a new kind of musk?
It didn’t wear extremely long on him, but he runs hot and seems to burn off lighter scents rather quickly. I don’t write reviews often on behalf of what smells good on my husband, but New Musk deserves it as it has been a while since a fresh scent like this has stood out in the men’s realm. Happy to see too it isn’t wildly priced, so there could be a bottle in his future. It’s a winner winner!

If your conception of musk is dank and animalic, you will be very pleasantly surprised by New Musk. Top notes of fruit, but not overly sweet with a light floral lift. Definitely unisex. A “fresh” musk scent with moderate projection and decent longevity. Definitely a safe blind buy. I use the cologne with the oil and have received several compliments that I smell “good”.
Alexsej80 – :
Dame New Musk Man is a charming, versatile, fruity light musk that has gotten me compliments and positive attention galore. Totally unisex. Try the New Musk oil too.
dvernoy – :
I’m really surprised to see plum as the most prominent note. In my bottle of new musk, I detect zero plum. I guess if I stretch my imagination to its (admittedly narrow) limits, I can come up with a New Age Plum that doesn’t smell like OG plum.
Anyway – new musk is my favorite. A light citrus, white musk that comes and goes. Safe but alluring. Very calm and composed. Relaxing. Love.
Козлик – :
I keep saying this should just be “New Musk”, as there is nothing too masculine about it. Modern, fresh and beautiful. Dame Perfumery has the most generous free sample program, check out their website–if you haven’t tried this one, you should!
Voron-Ka – :
very soft skinscent with rose, musk, a hint of plum and sandalwood
gerich – :
I was gifted a very generous sample of this and putting it on made me think CLEAN – but fresh, straight out of the shower skin and shampooed hair (as others have mentioned).
Its soft and fresh and somehow rounded and sweet. The fresh-out-of-the-shower comes with the dampness of barely dried skin too – which is kind of sexy. Definitely unisex. Very comforting.
I am seeing the value in these scents that don’t scream out at the world, but invite you in. And just give you warmth and happiness to wear for the day.
vmexrumer – :
A modern musk, almost a slight whisper at first that builds on your skin and throws off a light ;second skin accord’.
Think rubber meets white musk hitting freshly washed skin.
It’s a pass for me. Not my style, too rubbery and synthetic.
And, the better modern musk that offers a bunch of complexity and different scent stages is Chopard Musk Malakai. If you like Dame’s New Musk Man at all, you simply have to get your hands on Chopards Musk Malakai. It’s nearly the same fragrance taken to a whole new level.
dtt – :
I can totally understand the Sweetarts/ Pez references here. There is something very fruity and sweet here, I pick that up more than any actual musky note.
I have also sampled Verbena, Freesia & Musk from Dame Perfumery and it was the same candy sweetness in that musk. I thought maybe that was the freesia essence he’s using but now I’m not sure, just that it appeared in both. Maybe both contain plum?
gln835Diobtetty – :
i received a free sample of this. i smell plum, rose and clean, slightly soapy musk. this smells like freshly washed skin and/or hair. i think i’m getting some lily of the valley too, but don’t really sense any of the other listed notes. not really a “me” scent, but glad i got to try another dame perfume.
putnik321 – :
Musk+plum=awesome. Fizzy and clean. In all honesty, this could be an end all scent. Going to work? Perfect, as it’s not a scent that demands your nasal attention. Going to a black tie event? Excellent, as it’s a most demure scent that will go right along with your continental bow tie. Going out on a Friday night with your bros? Awesome, you’ll smell like the world’s best clean laundry. Perfect “anytime” scent that pleases everyone
qic565Negeltzex – :
New Musk Man is very good. It’s basically the smoothest musk you’ve ever smelled, sweetened a bit with fig, along with some other notes that mostly serve to round it all out. I wouldn’t pick up on most of the notes if I hadn’t seen them listed. As I said, this is mostly a super smooth figgy musk. Is figgy a word?
This isn’t a “Cologne Guy Seeking Attention” scent. It’s more of a cozy get-to-know-me kind of thing. And it’s very good.
I haven’t decided if it’s for me though. Fig isn’t one of my favorite notes. But I can say one thing for sure: if the notes listed here sound good to you, you’d be crazy to not order a sample from Dame Perfumery.
I don’t know Mr Dame, but if I ever meet the man, I’ll gladly buy him a beer. I love the way he runs his indie house. I wish more houses sold 5ml sizes for sampling. That’s the way it should be done.
P.S. Dark Horse is fantastic too, and I also recommend sampling Sky Father.
mivmiv – :
First impression – kind of similar to Atelier’s Vanille Insensee, a woody vanilla is what I first smell, slightly synthetic and sharp. Then the fruit and musk starts to appear, getting quite sweet and thick. It reminds me of preserved fruits but is also powdery at the same time. It continues to soften into a warm skin scent, kind of like a person who just exercised and showered: the skin is hot but not sweaty
Rabars – :
Reminds me of that bottle caps fizzy candy. Seems very unisex and versatile
bio_222 – :
I received a sample of this and I REALLY LOVE it! It’s not an “in your face” scent and at times I can’t even smell it but all of a sudden I’ll get a whiff of it – pure heaven.
Update: A few days later my full bottle showed up and they were nice enough to throw in a 5ml bottle of the oil.
This scent is even better the 3rd time wearing, I just can’t believe how great this smells. Yes it’s soft and leans towards the feminine side but who cares – I sure don’t.
Do yourself a favor and get your hands on a sample…
cardiodoc – :
New Musk Man by Dame Perfumery is sparkling plum with a fizzy lemon pop and a soft clean musk. This cologne is amazing because it is the most addictive and inviting smell! I think this can absolutely be unisex (I am a woman and I love to wear this) but enjoy smelling it on a man too!
gadgtr77 – :
Not at all what I was expecting. I love musk and aside from maybe a hint of clean white musk, I don’t detect musk here (maybe im anosmic to the musk that was used?). The moment I put this on I knew it smelled very similar to something else until it hit me. Aside from their completely different composition of notes, this smells like a lighter, more versatile version of Tom Ford Noir de Noir. Out of all the generous and lovely samples that Jeffrey Dame sent to me, this one is my favorite. I have been eyeing different plum fragrances for men, but this one blew the rest away. The plum is just so nice and really pulls everything together without being too fruity or sweet. Also, I have to say that Dame Perfumery has the most thoughtful, nice presentation and packaging. Great job Jeffrey!
HooliGun93 – :
I held onto my sample far too long before trying Dame Perfumery’s New Musk Man, one of a few colognes to follow Jeffrey’s original Herb Man Cologne.
It is, first of all, musky, but not in the heavy sense of older musks nor in the sharp sense of an Egyptian musk. It’s a bright, fresh, sweet musk. The plum and vanilla make it a mix of almost a boozy and desserty sweet, but very subtly sweet, mixed with jasmine, rose, and of course some citrus at the opening. The result is an appropriately-named fresh, new take on the concept of musk, and despite its name, it’s not exclusive to men, as I imagine this would smell good on most women, as well.
Like Herb Man, performance isn’t bad for a named “cologne,” either, though Jeffrey clarifies that he uses the term “cologne” to be consistent with the US vernacular for men’s fragrances and it’s not a specific designation for concentration, so this is, in my estimation, an EDT.
The cologne is reasonably priced, at $65 for 100ml. I need to try the perfume oil as well, which is $45 for 30ml.
7 out of 10
Blereoppy – :
Sooooo. Here I am wearing the sample I received in the mail. This is a genius cologne. I agree with other reviewers about a “tart” smell. I’m wondering if they mean like a Sweetarts or Pez candy kind of tart. That’s what this reminds me of. Not saying it’s candy-sweet per se, but it has a pastel, powdery colored smell to it. If the citrus fruits, florals and woods were edible they would would come in pastilles and smell like this! The woods are like paper thin almost see thru blond shavings. Sheer wood, if you will. Adore this. I just ordered a full size 100ml for myself, but I’m also looking forward to smelling a little splash on the bf.
alexandra_ry – :
Scent – musk, jasmine & plum.
Season/Time of Day – I prefer to use this one in the warmer months, day or night.
Projection – I didn’t get noticed, I didn’t get a compliment.
Longevity – I get 4hrs consistently.
svr – :
I think this is really unisex. Its musky, fruity, and floral. I think for a more metrosexual kind of man or like a man that wears skinny jeans. definately for a good looking man, but not a rough tough works outside kind of man. definitely okay for business casual but maybe too “sweet” for business professional unless a woman wears it. really non offensive. safe yet not a simple perfume. i would say a young man maybe 20 yr olds. nice.
ivankhar – :
One of the best musks I’ve ever smelled. It is understated but sexy. I am a woman and this is not too masculine for me to feel totally comfortable wearing, very unisex IMO. It smells like a sexy, clean body that just got out of the shower. LOVE IT!

Second Review: Just received my full bottle in the mail today (got here super quick) && the Bottle is way bigger then I expected nice heavy thick glass with a nice quality feel. I got this for myself for my birthday, ugh I just love it I know I’m going to wear the shitake out of it, it’s so rfreshing I feel like a breath of fresh air wearing it; && I’d like to thank Mr. Dame for his amazing generosity was surprised to find accompanied w/ my bottle a 5ml of the New Musk oil + a 7ml refillable travel size of the musk as well along with another lot of samples. So A++ for customer appreciation! Deff. will be purchasing more from his line in the future, Dame has become a new house fav!. THANKS! 😀
*I think Black Flower will be next love the VANILLA!!
*Has quickly become my constant go to fav. when I wanna feel fresh & clean && it pairs beautifully with so many of my scents.
Медведева – :
I’ve been wearing it most of the day now and it certainly has staying power. I would classify this as a light and summery, citrus fruity, musk which seems to be a contradiction in terms. It is certainly different than almost anything I have smelled- and I like different. Someone else used the term tart and I think that is appropriate. I am not sure what the main note I detect is but it’s “tart” for lack of a better term. My wife said it smells feminine but I like it for me so I unisex seems appropriate too.
The tester I got was nice and large (thanks Dame Perfumery) so I will get a couple days out of this. My wife already bought their Mandarin-Neroli-Cedar and she rarely buys perfumes so that is a testament to how much she liked it.
powershotsx210isx – :
I received a sample of this today (thank you Jeffrey!), and I must say this is a very nice! As someone else said already, it smells like a high-end shampoo scented with light, springy florals and just an edge of juicy, tart fruit-notes that make my mouth water a bit. Very unisex. Very pleasant, and would work well even in a “no fragrance” setting as it is unobtrusive and only detected within intimate distance. It is also lasting a good while on my skin. Lovely!
Lelik2040 – :
First & foremost I’d like to thank Mr. Jeffrey Dame for his wonderful unique blend of scents. Secondly I must say I was surprised a lil when I received my lovely lot of samples in the mail today I don’t even remember where or when I filled out anything to receive these lol but I’m glad I did. Thirdly I’m absolutely in love with the NEW MUSK!, such a clean & versatile & refreshing musk && even though it’s labeled for men it’s easily unisex. To me it’s a classier musk but also a musk that wants to play a lil. So happy this was one of the bigger samples I’m going to wear it a while && see how it goes but I already added it to my wants, See it ass a perfect introduction for a new Spring – Fall scent I cannot stop sniffing my hand so I’m sure I’ll spring for it real soon!
Thank You Mr. Dame! 😀
*Update this won my heart over for first in line over all other scents, really want a new versatile scent for the spring summer so I’m going to hopefully get a bottle soon when I have a lil extra cash handy. 🙂

Just tried my samples of New Musk Oil and New Musk Man Cologne received in the mail. Initial impression…simply a beautiful musky-floral fragrance with some sweet-woodsy nuances in the background. To me, it’s better suited for the ladies, but you be the judge. I had my three daughters smell both and they loved, loved, love ’em, which is saying a lot since they’re not fragheads. Heck, they gave my Amouage Jubilation Man and Parfums de Marly Pegasus that annoying, “It’s okay” seal or I don’t care when I opened them Christmas Eve.

When I first received a generous trial size of this from DPS, it was a very warm day, and I was relaxing with a glass of Reisling in the early evening in early August. I sprayed the tester on and the spectacular explosion of roses, jasmine, fruit, musk, sandalwood and lush sweet vanilla made me go “wow, this is ridiculously beautiful, I am wearing this to my nieces wedding!” It has a celebratory feel to it, very happy and uplifting. I was surprised this was released in the men’s line, but that never stops me from trying things. I was smitten by this. It is glorious in the heat, and lasts FOREVER on my skin. It is a floral musk beauty and works as both a casual picnic feel fragrance and it also dresses up in formal wear perfectly! It has the feel of an expensive lipstick or cosmetic fragrance, but much nicer. It is soothing and drop dead gorgeous. Right after this was released, I was sent the New Musk Oil which is the same but sits closer. While I prefer the EDT, the oil is also spectacular, and is great solo or as a perfect floral to enhance another scent by layering it.
This has a modern feel, but has classic bones. It is completely unisex, as are most of his line I have explored. This one took my breath away. A mega compliment getter, just ridiculously beautiful!
despot-80 – :
as a point of product information, Dame Perfumery New Musk OIl and New Musk-Man-Cologne contain the exact same essential oil – same recipe, same formula, no difference; simply two forms of fragrance application.

Luminous, clear, translucent and lucid….these are some words that immediately popped into my mind upon smelling New Musk Man. I know that ‘plum’ is the fruit note that’s listed in its pyramid, but to my nose it smells like a fresh apple with maybe a little pear as well. And it’s not that synthetic apple note that’s so common among men’s aquatic and fruity fragrances; it’s a very clean, light apple note with an ethereal sort of anti-density. My nose may be interpreting the wrong fruit, but I don’t care–I think it smells great either way. As NMM evolves the musk completely pushes toward the forefront. It’s a very clean, sturdy white musk, and combined with the white floral elements and fruit smells like some kind of wonderfully fresh soap, or as the reviewer below, du57in says, a “nice shampoo.” It really does. There’s a sweet jasmine note and even some rose, which brings some warmth and color to all of the white. They’re subtle, but present. I’ve smelled many fragrances intended to smell super-clean, and most focus on some variation of neroli and citrus fruits, or a white musk and iris combination that often feels too formal and dressed-up to suit my style. There are some good ones out there, but these themes have been done to death. New Man Musk takes a different approach and it pays off. We end up with something unique that also smells good. This will be an easy wear for any man looking to smell clean and well-groomed. I have a small sample left. I’m going to give it a few wears this next week and see how it performs throughout the day. If it holds up, a bottle won’t be too far away on the horizon.
As of now, longevity seems very good (the musk is tenacious) and so does the projection. Thumbs up.

Have you ever thought, “I really like the smell of this nice shampoo. I want to smell like shampoo.”? Then this is for you. I mean that in the best way possible. Fruity, floral and of course musky. Whenever I read a fragrance smells clean, I expect citrus and white florals. This truly smells clean!
Qarartur – :
Very clean, appropriate for all locations and occasions, like a lotion or cream. Definitely unisex. Something in it reminds me of the smell of “ChapStick Classic

Original.” I have always loved that scent. Full bottle worthy for sure!

One of the best new musks I’ve smelled in a long time. It’s a very unisex fragrance but perfect for a man. It’s clean and fresh and floral and nothing like Jovan the musk everyone is used to! I think it’s suited perfectly for FALL wear! 🙂

I’ve sampled a few of Jeffrey’s creations, this is one of my favorites. light musky clean smell. also detect some light floral also,on my skin it’s a little powdery, but I like that smell a lot.lol.I can’t figure which to get, decisions, decisions.but the more I sample of the Dame Perfumery line,I’m becoming more of a fan!.maybe it’s a little of the Arizona connection we have!.lol..all in all,I would say “Give it a TRY!”..
