Description

Narciso Rouge is announced as a sublimely seductive, mysterious, provocative and passionate perfume.

“I love color that’s very pure; it elicits profound emotions and it’s very visceral. The red I’ve chosen for Narciso eau de parfum embodies passion and mystery.” –Narciso Rodriguez.

The signature musk heart of Narciso Rodriguez‘ perfume creations is enriched with a warm bouquet of Bulgarian rose and iris. The “fiery sensuality” of the composition is embellished with an amber-woody base that includes vetiver as well as white and black cedar wood.

“With this new chapter, I wanted to elevate the seductive nature of the original NARCISO. The Eau de Parfum Rouge is not only sexy; it arouses passion…The new fragrance has a heightened sensuality. There’s a deliberate new spirit that’s bold and intoxicating.” – Narciso Rodriguez.

The face of the advertising campaign is model Raquel Zimmerman. The fragrance is available as a 30, 50 and 90 ml Eau de Parfum.

Narciso Rouge was launched in 2018. The nose behind this fragrance is Sonia Constant.

I tried it yesterday and when I smelled it right away I thought to myself…I recognize this scent, it’s one of the classic perfumes, but which one? When I got home it came to me…this is a re-incarnation of Dolce & Gabbana’s classic femme (the original red cap) and I am not saying this because of the red bottle. It smells identical, maybe a little toned down but I am happy because I love that perfume:)

    How can I pass a perfume with a red bottle? I won’t!
Is narciso close to my expectation of how it should smell like? not really.
Actually I’ve never been found of any of narciso perfumes and never perceived the reason behind their popularity. This one is also weird and very different from the notes listed.
At the first sniff, I could swear that I smell red pepper. It was somehow just very peppery and rosy. It’s like someone who doesn’t act to be nice and that’s where the animalistic notes come from.
At the time passes, it gets more bitter. Now I can swear that I smell something like incense or more clearly tobacco, cigar. It’s still blunt and bitter and has strong masculine vibes. Woody notes, namely vetiver are the best parts to my nose which make it intenser.
wearing narciso rouge, I feel like having smoked lots of cigarettes in a gray cold day while wearing tom-boyish clothes with a cap on. To me Narciso rouge smells either grey or black.

You know the “trick” where you think you’re drinking, say, milk, but you end up drinking orange juice instead? Your brain expects one thing, gets something altogether different, and so you react badly. Suddenly, the orange juice tastes absolutely, utterly horrid.
This is kind of (just a little) what happened to me with Narciso Rouge the first time I tried it. I don’t know what I was expecting—maybe something heavily rosy, or fruity, and obviously with the signature Narciso musk—but it was clearly not at all in line with how the fragrance actually smells. I ended up thinking Narciso Rouge was sickly sweet and gross, and I couldn’t understand how this beautiful bottle could have ended up filled with such dreck.
Well, I tried it again today, a couple of months later, and maybe it’s the weather as well (it’s cold today; I originally tried it in hot weather) but Narciso Rouge smells…uh, a lot like the other Narcisos I know and love. Narciso (white) is my absolute favorite; I also like Narciso Poudre (except I can’t handle the sheer amount of musk in it). Luckily for me, Narciso Rouge smells very much like the aspects of Narciso Poudre that I enjoy, but without that heavy musk that made me keel over.
The vanilla/tonka and iris are the strongest notes for me in Rouge (well, apart from musk, of course); the rose is barely there. To me, this fragrance should have been packaged in a purple bottle. Imagine a medium purple, how gorgeous would that be? And Rouge could have been saved for a different version.
In any case, I really enjoy Narciso Rouge now, and hope to get a bottle one day!

Smells like a lovely mix of Turkish delight and musk sticks. Very candy-like, but not like eating them… like being around someone who is eating them. Enjoyable. Refined, in that regard.

I couldn’t wait to try Narciso Rouge since I read about it’s launch.I love this perfume brand,I love Narciso edp and Narciso Poudre and recently I’ve been craving iris a lot.unfortunately it was a big disappointment.I sprayed it both on my hand and on the Narciso tester ribbon and I could barely smell it
It smells like Narciso edp minus it’s lovely milky floral smoothness or like Narciso Poudre without it’s powder and vanilla.all I could smell was a soulless musk and tones of woody notes, specially cedar.I hate it when cedar stands out to me and it’s the case here.I wonder where’s iris and rose
This was my first experience with Nariso Rouge.I’m going to sample it more times as I think I’m loosing most of the points here,I’d love to like it and take that lovely bottle home to sit near her sisters

On my skin, the drydown smells like LouLou by Cacharel

I like it more from the line. Woody, rosy and musky. Despite it’s still not my type.

    narciso rouge
    summer test
one small spray on inner elbow.
immediate thoughts were: oooh rosey, musky, clean (but not the fresh sort), creamy (but in no way gourmand).
it felt more rosey than the other for her edp. (the edt in so-so about)
after the initial thoughts, i get a dusky sense, this isnt sweet, but its warmer than the “for her” one.
powdery, floral, not so noticeably rosey anymore, woods are indetectable to me, must be in the background supporting, not so fresh at all anymore. dusky, a little sweet, it has the musk that all the narcisos do.
    nice. good.
i definately like the opening and wish that stuck around much longer

For those who enjoy the Narciso perfumes this is an ideal autumnal/winter one.
Cosy clean cat-fur musk haze and a warm backdrop, where I do notice the salty qualities of vetiver. I don’t get the powderiness of iris very strongly, this is soft into dry down, but more warm than cool.
I find it pleasant, but not stand out (the Narciso pefumes aren’t meant to clobber anyone over the head though). The musk in Narciso perfumes can be a bit irritating for folks like me who are a bit sensitive to it at times, but this has very pleasing qualities in dry down.
I think the Narciso perfumes get more interesting with each new release. I liked their ‘take’ on powder in Poudre!
This is a very subtly ‘come hither’ or ‘come closer’ perfume. But no skank, loud florals or vanilla (just a tiny touch of sweetness). I find it simple, maybe too simple for those times I might want to wear something that speaks more of individuality or elegance – it’s not meant to be a statement perfume though. It’s more a soft, worn-in cashmere shawl that you’d wear to feel soothed.
    Really nice, I like it!

I got a sample of this and wore it on a warmer day… and for some reason it pulled quite “playdoughy” on me, especially the synthetic note. Kinda surprised.

  12. :

    4 out of 5

I was expecting something quite different. Having avidily read all reviews I expected a powdery rose. Instead when I first sprayed it on my wrist and on my neck all I could get was first vanilla. Beautiful warm vanilla, not the gourmand caramel or praline kind of sweetness but the real vanilla, the jam that you scrap from the pods, that kind of liquorous aroma you use for cooking.
After one hour that typical undertone of Narciso Poudree with vetiver, cedar and musk started coming out, but still a lot of boozy vanilla dominating everything – and at that point I also got the comparison with Hypnotic Poison. When I woke up the next morning my neck and my hair smelled of Hypnotic Poison and so did the wool pullover I wore the day before.
The interesting thing though is that my bag and the the red satin ribbon where I had also sprayed the perfume in the store, smelled reminescent of vintage makeup, something vaguely similar to Maison Martin Margiela Lipstick On and not traces of Hypnotic Poison !
This means that this fragrance developes very differently depending on the skin and also on the fabric.
I think that this fragrance will be beautiful to wear in the cold weather when I start craving vanilla, so I will retry in winter but for now my Valentina Poudre is just too similar to have also this one.
BTW the bottle is beautifull and much nicer in real with that cube in deep, deep scarlet colour. Someone mentioned that the colour red doesn’t really fit this scent but I think that it is actually spot on as it is the most sensual, warm and sultry of the Narciso cubes line, it has something of Hypnotic Poison and reminds me of a boudoir and vintage red lipstick.

i’m a fan of narciso by narciso rodriguez trilogy, now quadrilogy. but i have to say i was very disappointed with narcisso rouge. i feel like, if you already have any of the previous narcisos (especially the white one), then the rouge one does really not stand out in terms being different even for a tone, or a note.
the color and the approach behind it does not really resonate with ‘rouge’ concept – i expected some kind of extreme result – either another musky rose going into rose jam direction, or something completely unexpected, say, stronger floral / spice burst.
unfortunately, as much as i wanted to add this to my narciso gang, i feel like it is not worth spending money on it, even if it is for the sake of gorgeous bottle. i might give it another try in winter and test it again when weather is colder.
i just wished this one was a different one, as for example, narciso rodriguez santal, rose and amber collection which are really worth trying & investing in, and are giving the brand a totally different output.

Best of the best ! I wear this daily now and to bed. It’s creamy fluffy warm sexy musk with a fresh clean vibe a touch of rose and iris with creamy warm cedar. It’s sweet but not too sweet. It’s clean and warm , it’s mature but has a modern twist , to me it’s all I want to smell and I am so excited that there is now a perfume my husband finnaly is crazy about. He hates a lot. Likes a few and loves only this and 2 others. Winner !!

There must be something really special about this perfume if it made me write a third review here…
Just a word of advice –
This scent works best in cooler weather (“airconditioned weather” also ok). Heat and humidity bring out a sharper powedry vibe from it and make it smell somewhat less complex and cheaper (like your commun drugstore musk).
In the appropriate climate this scent just SHINES.

Beautiful! Warmer and not as sweet as Poudrée, Rouge is soft and well-balanced. Woody, creamy, musky, this is both a comforting and sensual scent. Perfect for this fall! Very happy with my 50ml bottle.

  17. :

    5 out of 5

A sophisticated “skin but better” scent. Musk, warm sweet spices, wood and flowers all melted together into a creamy aura which is just beautiful.
Possibly my favourite from the Narciso line. Not a new concept, again, but a perfect, beautiful execution. Delightful.

Update: lasts long (more than 8 h) though it does not project much. Possibly the sweetest one from the Narciso frangrances I tried, but now in a candy-ish way. It’s just delightfully vanilla, almost boozy, mixed to perfection with woods and powder and just a hint of flowers.
A warmer, more woody version of Poudree. Both beautiful and clearly in the same family, and both scents I would wear with joy 🙂

Dear Rouge, I owe you an apology.
My first trial with you was bad and sad. I proclaimed you “an old lady” scent and my review was short but bitter (fellow fragranticians made sure it disappeared form this page 😉 ).
Our second rendez-vous was when I realized you were indeed special and beautiful. I actually love you more than Poudre.
You’re warm, subtle, sweet but clam, not at all screechy. You’re not really rouge but more of a deep, plum-burgundy shaded quiet classique.
See you soon, my new friend.

  19. :

Very nice and expensive smell of rose, musk and iris fragrance. It does smell so similar to Poudree and yet still different due to the appearance of the soft rose. I think I even prefer this one over Poudree because the cosmetic/lipstick powdery vibe in Rouge is rather more elegant, sophisticated and chic.
If you are debating between Rouge and Poudree, get Rouge.

it is amazing , but if you have either the white bottle or the pink one is way too similar to own all of them , but for sure it is really good and the bottle is super cute !
love it but then again i do love everything narciso !

I have been crazy about this for the last few days and haven’t worn anything else ,It does resemble the poudre ( pink beige )cube the most out of all the Narcissos , and the Poudre is indeed one of my favourites of the line. However this is different from poudre and it’s well worth getting Rouge even if you own the other cubes , they all smell quite differnt , just have a similar feel and undertone.
I adore the colour and the cube. Doesn’t get much better ! Very sexy, modern look , like nailpoilish , my favorite cube yet.
Now to the smell of Rouge. It’s very boudoir! It’s a lipstick rose (FM) but better yet. Very sexy and like nettoyant below mentioned it is rather industrial and modern , yet I find it has a definite vintage edge ! The vintage make up budoir touch May be what turns off some people but is also what some love. I have heard comment like ;this is the best smell in the world to. ; i never want to smell this again. to ; it simply smells like a nice bodylotion.
I haven’t thought about it suiting the heat but I think it does well in the heat as I think it would do great in the winter as a snuggle scent. It is rather fluffy and creamy , I see the Narciso quality come to shine again ,,,
It is woody , powdery and very musky. And as some say , It resembles Hypnotic poison !
Very interesting I find that Narciso does not use the same perfumer for his fragrances. This perfume was created by Sonia Constant which only created fleur de musc in his line .
Wearing this daily , completely addicted to it. I love ❤️ the creamy fluffy musky and airy sweet smell. Masterpiece !

This is the perfect balance of woods , florals and musky undertone…I must say I really like it, it isn’t heady, it is smooth, and the drydown is great, with the tonka bean and the vanilla softening the overall floral tone..I detect the Iris, muted and deep, and a bit of the rose…I don’t find it as powdery as Poudre, which I like, but wears rarely..Rouge is very attractive, without having a suffocating musky undertone, which can happen with NR..it is feminine, almost womanly, it is rich without being in your face, it is refined, and really pretty..so far, on my list to buy soon !

I picked this up in Rome on a recent trip through Italy. I like to buy a fragrance while travelling/on vacation, using it reminds me of my trip.
This has the same DNA as all the cubes – variations of a sort of industrial modern musk. Mostly resembles the pink cube, Poudree. It’s powdery but with floral bitter orange and iris. It has more of an iris powder with less of a talcum feel.
I’ve been quite drawn to it since I’ve been home. It’s hot here in BC right now, as hot as it was in Italy but minus the humidity and I find it’s well suited to the hot and dry conditions. I don’t usually wear a perfume days in a row, not even new ones, but this has been my go to for weeks.

Hi everyone! I’ve tried it on a shopping centre yesterday and I found it very good.
It is a sweet creamy/floral/musky fragrance.
It is more delicate compared to my Narciso EDP, the longevity is great but it’s less powerful and it is not a fragrance that fills a room.
However the projection is fantastic it leaves an extremely sweet and cozy cloud and it’s another fantastic creation of Narciso Rodriguez.
If you like sweet, sexy, delicate fragrance give it a chance!
    Ciao!

I got a tester of this today when I bought two other fragrances. I should love this based on the notes. Tonka really suits me. This is the first fragrance from this house I’ve had the opportunity to test. I think I like it.
NR Rouge iss pleasantly creamy/powdery a mix of my preferences for sweet(ish) fragranes and orientals and everyone else’s wish for the people to only be around people who smell soft and clean in the heat and humidity we’re currently experiencing where I’m on vacation in Speyer, Germany – if that makes sense.
I don’t know if I’ll ever buy it. Depends on the price at home in Denmark or whether I want to make it a priority to have the money to buy it cheaper abroad, next yar.
I’ll edit the review when I’ve emptied the tester.-
Update 08 – 09/09(September): I still have a bit left of the tester from Summer. Generally my experience is the same as in Summer except it was too warm and humid on the day of my first test. I love NR Rouge more now that it’s cooler. I will definitely have to buy a bottle for cooler weather.
I was at the circus and out for dinner with my husband’s company yesterday evening. Rouge lasted from when I first applied it around 11am, one short blast again around 7;15pm which might not strictly have been necessary because Rouge was still noticeable close up. Both the circus tent and restaurant were hot and crowded but the air felt dry. No one complained or pulled away from me. I still prefer Rouge when it’s cool though.

this reminds me very much of Roma Passione by Laura Biagiotti – the Narscio DNA is definitely there but this more to my liking – less of the musk and more of the sexy other stuff! A great smell!

Lots of alcohol in the opening. Then its very anonymous. Sweet, musky but almost undetectable to my nose. I dont think this one suits my body chemistry, it doesnt stand out in any way. NR perfumes are not for me I think.

This is crazy!! I just got to try this today and it get like it was just another slight variation on the white/poudree ones, that rose/Musk/super powerful smell. I own those but didn’t do a side by side, but it has that Narciso signature scent.
Hours later… you know what sets this apart?!!! A hot smell. Literally the smell of heat, a hot electrical smell. It’s freakin’ weird and I love that!
My OH said: no I’m not keen, sorry.

When I first saw the design and the unusual, bold red colour I was thrilled. Based on other perfumes from the exquisite Narciso series, I was expecting this to pull a much stronger punch both in terms of its lasting power and its composition. It’s not bad, not bad at all; it’s a soft, sweet and even dreamy daytime perfume – but where is the red that was promised? To me this feels like “Cacharel’s Loulou goes to the beach” so it’s a watered-down Loulou and it doesn’t linger as much as I’d like. There is a sting missing from this rose or perhaps it’s a matter of low lasting power rather than composition. Having said that, my twin signature perfumes are TF’s Black Orchid and Guerlain’s L’Heure Bleue so I like even my softer perfumes to exhibit a powerful presence..

I bought a 50 ml Bottle of NR Poudree and they gave me a sample of Rouge. First i was scared to try it because i thought this will be a strong pungeant Rose Scent because its Red. I was wrong. Today i tried it on and i agree with the Review below it smells like an expensive Make up Store its very lovely. Musky, Soft a little powdery oh my i wish i didnt like it because i should not buy another fragrance this month 🙂

I’d been lusting after Narciso Rouge ever since it was first announced; and as soon as I got my arse to London, I grabbed a 50ml bottle for under 50 quid. Here’s my preliminary review, and I might update it after I’ve worn Rouge for a few more weeks.
Although the scarlet red bottle and the official press release might suggest that this is a strong rose-centred fragrance, it is not! Rather, a soft powdery violet is the main protagonist here, alongside the beautiful NR musk. In that sense, it is a clear descendant of the Narciso line (in cubical bottles) – probably the closest to Narciso Poudree, only less sweet. The opening of Rouge is somewhat sharp and very musky (sourish-sweaty), but it quickly transforms into this creamy, powdery, violet-y musky goodness. Although it doesn’t seem to leave a powerful trail behind it, I’ve actually had people stop me to ask what I was wearing and confirmed that it’s very impactful. In particular men react extremely positively to all NR musks.
This is now my fourth Narciso Rodriguez fragrance, and I can safely say that NR has established itself among the Top 5 of my favourite fragrance houses, alongside Chanel, Guerlain, Maison Francis Kurkdjian and Diptyque. Well done peeps, keep up the good work!

The bottle is attention grabbing and gorgeous. The perfume itself is a bit too sharp for me, all i can smee is very strong powder and violet. You will be noticed when using this one.

  37. :

    4 out of 5

Definitely the DNA present of the other cubes. These is somehow fresher and different. I thought it was a weak skinscent but I was wrong. My colleages told me I left a trail everywhere I walked and the smell stayed in all rooms. Longevity is more then 12 hours. Quite impressive fragance.

  38. :

    4 out of 5

It’s very musky, powdery, woody, usually I don’t like this type of a fragrance, but this one is really nice, well balanced. If you like such scents, try it. I think it’s very elegant and ladylike, true boudoir scent.

  39. :

I’m speechless…. This is heaven in a bottle! Seriously, check this out as soon as possible. I was going to write about how this smells like a powdery rose, but that description sounds rather dull and it doesn’t do this wonderful thing justice. It’s so much more, it’s fresh rose, baby powder, clean musk, a bit of lipstick, and other stuff I can’t explain. Sophisticated, nice and overall lovely. If you love all the other NRs(they all have that same DNA), I’m pretty sure you’ll love this one too. Bottle amazing, although the colour doesn’t really describe the scent that well imo…I would perhaps choose a lilac coloured one. Beautiful.

Bought it yesterday for my gf who absolutely loved it in the shop, even though I told her to be careful about impulse buying. She still loves it this morning and has worn it to work.
To my nose, the perfume is gorgeous, and gives me:
    TURKISH DELIGHT
    LIPSTICK
    INCENSE
amongst other things. It does remind me of the smell they spray in Brandy Melville women’s clothing shop.

Nice fragrance. A bit powdery, a bit waxy and subtly sweet. It smells like a make up store. Sensual and feminine. Elegant and modern at the same time and has that distinct Narciso feel to it.
I am not in love with it, but i am pleased.

  42. :

    3 out of 5

For me, the rose comes through clearly in the top notes but not the iris. The vetiver doesn’t stand out as vetiver but adds a little freshness. It’s very powdery. As time goes on, the woody notes come through. In spite of the intense red of the bottle, the overall impact is soft and gentle. If I didn’t know this was by Narciso Rodriguez, I don’t think I would have guessed it was part of this line.
Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez disagree on the original Narciso For Her. Turin awarded it 4 stars but Sanchez didn’t like it and described it as harsh. There’s nothing harsh here. Nothing particularly earth-shattering or different either, but a lovely scent. I think this would have to be at least 3 stars and maybe even 4.

  43. :

Iris and rose combine in a divine delicate dance… Narciso Rouge is a beautiful perfume, in this case soft and I am sorry to say I can’t find the resemblance with the Narciso line in it, not with the original Narciso or Narciso poudree. This is a powdery and woody rose fragrance. It has a beautiful opening and it softens through out the day, I would personally compare it more to Fleur Musc but then not ambery and spicy undertone. He amazes me every time with every fragrance and every beautiful bottle… this one is for your collection if you like me are a Narciso Rodriguez fan, personally iris and rose are two of my favorite perfume ingredients. If you are not a floral gal you should not bother to try this, also not if sweetness is not something you crave. What I love the most about it is the minimalistic simplicity that does create a fantastic perfume, well done!
It is a soft fragrance, don’t expect an overwhelming sillage, you may not smell it on you after 3-4 hours, then again as Narciso himself says it is bold, but to me delicate.

THIS IS A LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE ! It’s so amazing , long-lasting but soft . So special! I am having trouble smelling this fragrance on me . I enjoy it but it is very light on skin , gave my girlfriend a sample and she found it long lasting . It’s a great everyday fragrance that won’t knock anybody out. I am going to wear it because I am using what I have and it was too expensive to give it away . I enjoy it and keep reaching for it even though I can’t smell it much on me .
UPDATE: Smells longer lasting today and I am enjoying this fragrance .
UPDATE 2: Been reaching for it everyday and got compliments . Perfect for any occasion day or night.

You need to like or love the previous ones from the line, it is very simmilar to them and the name “rouge” and the bright screaming passion color is very missleading. It is also (like its sisters) a very soft and creamy rounded scent, maybe the cedar and vetiver give a bit of edges at the beggining, but nothing too harsh or “red” as the concept states. However, very nice fragrance and in my opinion the best one in Narcisos line.

  46. :

    4 out of 5

Apparently I’m the only one who was very disappointed by this scent. I initially thought I was anosmic to it (like with For Her line) but then could only smell something undefined and synthetic, really annoying… so I clearly don’t get any comparison to the scents that were previously mentioned. I’ll definitely try it again, hopefully it will be better – otherwise I’ll stick to my beloved Narciso edp!

This is just another masterpiece from Narciso.
I love perfume from this house, so i was excited to try this one. From the beginning it smells similar to the other cubes from this collection, my first thought was the beige one, Poudree. After an hour or so, it smells gorgeous, but unfortunately oh so familiar… It reminds me of Hypnotic poison edt and Valentino Poudre. Except i like Narciso the most. It is exceptionally well blended.
I haven’t compared them side by side yet, but they are definitely in the same family.

I want to lay you down in a bed of roses
For tonight I´ll sleep on a bed on nails
I want to be just as close as the Holy Ghost is
And lay you down on bed of roses
    /Bon Jovi – Bed of Roses/
Yes, Narciso Rouge smells like a cedar bed covered in crimson rose petals. Old & dry wood, aromatic & spicy roses /mature red wine vibes included/ with a powdery & earthy undertone. That´s all. But it´s perfect.
Narciso Rouge is straight and almost linear – and as for me, it´s a positive aspect of this fragrance. It is sweet, floral/spicy & sexy – yet elegant & sophisticated. Narciso Rodriguez nailed it again.

    Beautiful. Beautiful.
This is a strong, beautiful, sensual and sexy fragance, but there is nothing remotely vulgar or noisy in it. It is very sexual, but in a very demure and elegant way. And there is a certain interesting androginy in it. The combo rose-iris-musk recalls the missed Essence, while the cedarwood and the vetyver make it a fine sister of the Narciso fragances already current.
The opening is not very promissing, and recalls some sort of vintage male after-shave, but in a few hours, it appears a wonderful smell to all sorts of beautiful and good things: first quality make-up, dolls, vanilla-ice creams, antique furniture, books… The perfomance is discreet, but very good.
Narciso Rodriguez is one of the very best perfume houses that we have today. And it is for several reasons. All their fragances are simple, but extremely well-done; unmistakable and coherent with the style of the house, and yet with personality enough for not being confused. They do not surrender to stupid fashions, make absurd advertising with trashy celebrities or try to lure the potential consumer with gadgedts or gimmicks. All what we have here is fine, fine fragances.
