Description

Nanette Lepore introduces a orental floral fragrance that is presented to the market in September 2009. Nanette is made in the cooperation with Anne Flipo from IFF with emphasized amber in the composition.

Nanette brings pink pepper, rose petals and neroli at the top, followed by rose absolute, violet and lily-of-the-valley at the heart. Base notes combine amber with incense and hot cedar wood. A touch of the violet in the composition is dedicated to the name of her 11 year-old daughter. The collection includes three bottles: 7,5ml (0.25oz) roller ball edp; 30 (1.0oz) and 75ml (2.5oz) edp, along with 100ml (3.4oz) lotion.

The bottle of Nanette perfume is made out of heavy crystal, very elegant, created before the composition itself was blended. Its form represents the romance of Italy, and reminds of a vintage bottle seen in an antiquate shop in Florence.

The commercial campaign is done by Poppy de Villeneuve, the daughter of the famous fashion photographer Justin de Villeneuve. The photographs will be available from November in the majority of the main fashion magazines.

Love the bottle. But the juice is a super powdery amber with pretty floral notes on me. It dries down to an ambery powdery vanilla scent that I’m liking, but is too powdery. Seriously powdery. I wouldn’t wear this in hot weather, because it might make me queasy.

Snagged a rollerball of this on ebay after watching Katie Puckrik’s quite favorable review.
My goodness, is this one lovely! Right after removing the cap from the rollerball, I got this clean, gorgeous waft of cedar. I could detect this right at the outset even though it is listed as a basenote. Deep, creamy amber notes are present throughout, but the rose really takes a backseat to it.
What I love and find so unusual about this fragrance is the handsome, spiky quality to it — makes me think of pine needles, firewood, new pencils, the heady smell of incense. About the incense, this is not a hippy-dippy fragrance for me; it is more of a classy, ancestral, churchy incense.
Vintage vibes on this one. Maybe it is a sin to mix your Guerlain with anything else, but I put on Shalimar EDT over a base of Nanette to boost the rich, creamy vanilla effect.
This is a great, cozy autumn fragrance. I’m testing it on a chilly, dreary day and it’s lifiting my spirits for sure!
[As of 10/21/18 I have a brand new, sealed 7 ml roll-on of this available. PM me if interested in a sample swap!]

Woah do I hate this fragrance! I tried to wash it off but it’s hanging on for dear life.
I think it is the violet that I detest so much, and that shows up so strong, stinging my nose, on my skin. On the paper sample, it smells like an amber infused soft flower, kissed with spice. It’s just a violet bomb on me, however, and I am not a violet lover.
I only have a sample of this, which I am thankful for! I know this is wonderful on some people, and I can imagine it being that way. For me it is just way too strong in a way that is just sweetness and violets.

What a pleasant surprise this perfume is. I normally find the incense note to be scratchy and irritating, but in this it’s all cozy warmness. That with the seductive amber makes this a glowing sensual scent. It’s another reminder to me that you can’t judge a scent on notes alone.

. Nanette is not to be ignored! It is the best amber based oriental fragrance I have ever owned. She is lovely, warm , sweet as honey and dripping with gold and crystal. The incense is a note i enjoy greatly and in Nanette, I find it mellow and somehow sacred. She holds no bitterness, she lingers forever and becomes creamy, rich and presents a buttery-ricey note that warms the woods up greatly. Long lasting and ever so classy, she is a great addition to my collection and her elegant bottle is ever so gorgeous! The crystal reflects the manyfold nature of Nanette: the wearer. As someone mentionned, she does seem to change often, as if the scent pyramid was constructed around the eternity concetp: from top to base then back to the top.. I personally will fold myself in her amber cover of woodsy honey this fall xxx
btw: This beauty is described as a creamy turkish delight by Katie Putrick and I agree! Indeed a very rich, mysterious floral-amber with oriental vibes and a creamy rose jam drydown! Very much like a rich Turkish delight amber

Lovely! It’s a gorgeous perfume. Lovely, slightly spicy amber, with beautiful flowers – rose and lily-of-the-valley – gentle and delicate, soft and alluring. I think is a lovely, sweet, comforting, feminine perfume. Beautiful amber, and incense, and woods, as well as the lovely violet and neroli and pink pepper. Really a beautiful perfume. I love it. Gorgeous bottle too.

I really like this scent, though I don’t seem to be smelling the same thing as lots of others. I smell some kind of boozey note, similar to Guess, and then sweet amber, which I love. I don’t smell any flowers or incense at all, and nothing gourmand. Just a gorgeous and velvety amber that lasts quite a while. This is a definite thumbs up for me. Nice autumn perfume in a lovely bottle.

    POETRY IN A BOTTLE:
This is Gorgeous, Sophisticated, & Brilliantly Uncomplicated Sexy! It’s a nutty purple berry jam with a touch of incense & florals…..Truly unique….I have never smelled anything like this, & I ABSOLUTELY LOVE it!

On opening Nanette seems like it could be a delicate scent w pink rose, anise & spice, very promising.. gets more billowy & lush 30min in.. really nice rose-anise scent here, but mostly I don’t like the flavor of pink roses done so vanilla-sweet. It reminds me of Cacharel Gloria’s base (boozy cherry w the rose, much better than this bright pink rose). Also similar to Tocade, as a billowy vanillic rose, but Nanette’s sweetness seems more hi-pitched. The rose is generic pink & sweet at the drydown, to my nose. ..but if I was out of Gloria, I’d try layering this with Delices!

If you could bottle up caramel, this would be it. To my nose, this just smelled like sugar. I can see some of the other notes, like amber, but the sweetness is the first thing that hits you, and it stays for a long time.

This fragrance smells amazing. Very strong initially, very warm, very comforting.
I’m in shock that no one has mentioned the similarity between this and Sarah Jessica Parker’s Twilight. It smells identical in terms of the scent alone, lasts longer, and is most definitely better at projecting. Funny story….
It’s Feb 18th (very cold in Pennsylvania) so this would obviously be the perfect perfume for today. I had JUST gotten it in the mail a week ago and haven’t worn it yet at all, let alone to work. I arrive to work at 7:50AM…about 15 minutes before my co-worker shows up. She is Hispanic and grew up in a household with no perfumes. She never wears perfume and if she does, it’s one spray so you can never smell her. On top of that…she’s very picky. She thinks a lot of perfumes are too strong, too weak, too intrusive, or just plain old…the smell itself doesn’t smell good. Well today, I walk in to work and she had JUST turned the corner of where our desks are…she had to have been standing at LEAST 6 feet away from me and she immediately said “Good morn…WOW! THAT SMELLS GOOD!” Exactly like that lol. I almost shit my pants. Even the fragrances that she doesn’t think are offensive…she never declares how “good” anything smells lol.
So that in itself really speaks to the quality of this perfume. I mostly smell the insense note and amber. The violet and rose take a backseat (but rightfully so in the perfect quantity) and the lily of the valley I do not get at all. Anyway, this fragrance is amazing.
In regards to longevity…it was 7:45AM that I sprayed this on myself and it is now 1:15PM as I’m writing this and its probably only projecting about one foot but hey…5.5 hours later and still going strong is still decent to me considering that it smells amazing and I bought a 1.0oz bottle for $15 on Ebay. Considering that, I’m guessing i’ll get 7-8 hours of it but undoubtedly will pass the 6 hour mark. I just ordered my second bottle to stock up. I do wish they made the standard 3.4 ounce bottle of this beauty but ill make do with several smaller bottles.
Anyway, love love LOVE this scent!
Deff recommended for autumn and winter wear.
Not sure if it would be cloying in the summer, but I may give it a try in the Spring when it is warm and not scorching hot as this is already a “hot” perfume itself.
    Scent itself – 9
    Longevity – 9
    Sillage – 9
    Overall score – 9/10
Haven’t tried any of the other perfumes from this line, but this one alone has convinced me that I probably should. THUMBS UP BIG TIME!!

I blind bought this one, sad to say I hate it. It literally pains me to return this one because I wanted to love it, from the pretty box to the gorgeous bottle and what I read in the composition I really thought this would be a keeper.
On me it’s very powdery but not in a good way. Frankly, it smells dusty, like rose scented carpet powder sucked up in an old Hoover. I hate to criticize a fragrance because I know someone out there just might think the world of it. But I simply don’t wish to smell like musty old carpet.

Maybe it’s just that I am getting older and I skin has changed, but I am finding more and more orientals that I really like–and when I saw this marked $10 at TJ Maxx, I wanted to try it. I have been impressed with Ms Lapore’s fragrances before–I have been wearing and loving “Love Bird” since about 2007 and adore “Shanghai Butterfly” for summertime. The bottle is elegant and collectible by itself, but I do love the scent–the rose and amber and woods dominate for me, with a little bit of pepper and lily of the valley popping up from time to time. It’s dressy and grown up and it lasts pretty well on me. It does remind me of another oriental favorite of mine, the original “Roma by Laura Biagiotti. That scent is very lasting on me, and quite a bit woodier, but this does remind me of it on the dry down.

I wish i could like this but i just dont!! How should i describe this scent…its a woodsy spicy caramel cake. Its….weird! The opening is spicy pepper and slowly turns into a caramel amber cake drydown with a hint of smokey rose. If you were to add a bunch of pepper and rose to jessica simpsons fancy it. Would. Be. THIS!

A very pretty and pleasant surprise. This was a blind buy for me, I found a 1 oz. at TJ Maxx for $10 and took a chance. It’s a warm, cozy scent, a nice amber/incense made feminine and inviting by the liberal dose of rose and a hint of violet. This is one of those fragrances that keeps me leaning down to my wrist to catch whiffs; some moments it seems girlish and sweet with the rose and violet seeming to dominate, other moments it smells sensual as I catch more of the incense. I’m very happy I took a chance on this, it’s a nice balance of a few notes I wouldn’t have thought I’d love together, but do.

  16. :

    5 out of 5

I wish I could love this! I read all the awesome reviews on this and grabbed a bottle when I spotted it at TJ Maxx. Not being a fan of rose, I still bought this. Especially after purchasing Intimately Beckham and loving it, even though it has a rose note. I had hopes that since I loved that, I would like this. Unfortunately, no, that was not the case. The rose is simply just too prominent for me. I smell almost nothing else except for maybe the amber. No violet or lily-of-the-valley. I saw that previously it was compared to Rose Jam, but aside from both having rose in them, they’re not that much alike. This to me is more straight up rose with not much else, and Rose Jam is more of a candy-ish, juicy rose scent. I think if you used the shower gel and layered with Nanette, it would work very nicely.
I’m glad I tried this perfume, but after a couple sprays, I won’t be using it again.

I am utterly smitten with this perfume. Even my kids, who adore the sweet candied stuff, love Nanette. From the bottle to the scent inside, everything about it is intriguing. This is the kind of amber that I love; one that is sweet without being peachy and syrupy, or thick and heavy. Nanette is incensy (not smoky) with a subtle floral undertone. While it doesn’t command attention, it reminds me a lot of the saying, “…don’t mistake my kindness for weakness.” A bit of a chameleon, this one is. Could be casual with ripped jeans and a white T, sensual in a little black dress and four inch heels, or sophisticated in a pencil skirt and buttoned-down blouse.
Longevity is about 6 hours and projection is moderate to soft. A beautiful gem.

I, like this perfume .Everything about it is pleasant, warm , not too flowery I seem to prefer amber, incense and woodsy scents and Nanette has a great combination of what appeals to me at this point….:o)

I bought this today and at first spritz I had that rare experience (for me, anyway) of feeling like I’d smelled *exactly* this scent before. I spent a few minutes trying to figure out what could have triggered such a strong scent association, without success. Then, halfway through cooking dinner (sometimes the heat and steam from the oven causes my perfumes to ‘bloom’), it hit me – on my skin Nanette smells almost exactly like the solid shampoo ‘Jason and the Argan Oil’ from LUSH!
It’s rose, rose and more rose on my skin (a pretty bracing rose, actually, with a hint of cedar, but none of the amber or violet others are smelling). Incidentally, the LUSH shampoo bar is supposed to smell like their popular Rose Jam perfume and bubble bath. I know Rose Jam has a bit of a fan following and since it was a limited edition, this might be a potential substitute.
EDIT: This is one of those fragrances that does much better when allowed to develop on the skin, rather than on paper or clothing, or judged at first sniff. I still think it smells like Rose Jam, but the drydown is softer than I expected, creamy and almost nutty – I can definitely see comparisons to the host of loukhoum fragrances out there. It has a sort of dense ‘chewiness’ that I didn’t expect from the opening blast of rose. Nice. It’s also quite persistent – a quick spritz before bed and I’m still smelling it at lunch the next day.

My daughter gave me Nanette Lepore quite some time ago. At first spray, I didn’t like it at all. I put it away.
When I pulled it out again many weeks later, I found I liked it……Another spray a few days later, and it became one of my favorites.
I spray it sometimes at bedtime. It’s lovely, sweet and comforting.
    I love you Nanette Lepore.

First of all, the bottle is TO DIE FOR. So elegant. The fragrance is quite nice after it settles – there’s a bit too much pepper in the opening. The incense is wonderful. If you like scents like Prada Amber and Midnight Poison, give it a whirl. At the very least you’ll have a gorgeous bottle to admire on your vanity. 🙂

This fragrance is sweet,i get amber, rose, incense, some pink pepper. It smells like there would be vanilla. Very strong resemblance to Lalique Le parfum but Nanette has more emphasis on the incense.

This one received mixed feedback but I absolutely love it. I have the roller-ball and am desperately seeking a bottle. Not sure if Silk Way by Ted Lapidus will fit the bill as a replacement, although it’s listed above. Thoughts on that?
Nanette on me develops into a spicy and balsamic cocoon and stays with me throughout the day/night. Some notes remind me of La Perla’s J’aime La Nuit, too. I think that I mainly detect the amber, incense and cedar. But the scent basically melds into my skin so it’s tough to say.
    Big “love” from me!

Oh My Goodness! I love this perfume! It is simply perfect. The deliciousness of it is unmatched! I first smelled the rose, not a bright dewy rose, but a smoldering rose with a little spice and pepper laying on the petals. I received this as a gift today and I simply wanted to cry it was such a beautiful gift! I had smelled this on a friend and was intending to buy my own but she beat me to it by gifting me a large bottle along with a lotion. I am so happy right now!!!!!! Simply lovely!

  25. :

The amber in Nanette Lepore has a similar chocolatey quality to that in La Perla’s J’aime La Nuit. It’s sweet and rich with a soft touch of violet. I personally do not smell rose or even really pick up on the woody notes that much.
It’s a very nice fragrance and shockingly inexpensive. I don’t know if I will keep it very long. It’s a fairly standard sweet amber and amber just doesn’t get me terribly excited.

I love this one because I find it to be the love child of several perfumes that I have worn, and loved, in the past, and it was blessed with the very best “genes” of all of its “parents”… the original Fendi is the Daddy, maybe, with all the stately, smoky majestic feel… but, baby Nanette lackes the “inhaling the inside of an expensive leather bag” feeling of her “Daddy”(and, for me, that is a good thing). Nanette’s “Mommy”, to me, is Prada Amber, all exotic elegance and poised sensuality, a truly beautiful lady… but, who is this, peeking in? And, what is her role here? It must be… it IS, Guess original, that deep, dark, ambery, SEXY bad girl, perhaps she is the bad-influence older sister that Nanette’s parents stick her with while they are busy trotting the globe? Anyhow, big-bad-sister original Guess knocks down the snob appeal just a bit, only enough to make Nanette more bohemian than haute couture. The leather in Fendi, and the general kind of “too fashion-y” feel of both Prada and Fendimake them less wearable, for me, as I am no clotheshorse. I do love beautiful things, and am frequently complimented on my sense of style, but it is a casual one, so more “relaxed” fragrances suit me better. This one boasts *most* of the notes that typically lure me in… the warm, the spicy, the sweet, the smoky… it really is divine. But, it is its wearable, approachable similarity to its “parents” that makes it truly special to me.

  27. :

If I say so myself, I smell wonderful when I wear this. I don’t get incense in this, mostly I get a smooth musk, which isn’t even listed in the notes. I got many compliments with this, but each person smelled something different. One said she smelled rose, another the lily-of-the-valley, and still another smelled the neroli. It’s like a chameleon the way the scent changed.

I’m crazy! Just blind bought two rollerballs of this stuff. Can’t wait to receive it 🙂 Hope to be satisfied with it. I’ll come back with review later on.
EDIT: So I received Nanette today and I instantly put it on my wrists. I was surprised how much I liked it even from the first sniff (’cause some of the reviews below lowered my expectations). It’s sweet but in a spicy way. I was thrilled to find out that it matches well with my skin chemistry and this stuff is unlike anything else I own. I like the way it is woody and smoky (from incence), but yet sweet, spicy and very feminine. Absolutely balsamic (but not like tiger balm – in a good way). Like warm, comforting myrrh (even though not listed in the notes). Intriguing. I can’t wait to put it on tomorrow and see how it wears on me for a whole day. It’s definately work appropriate, but I can also imagine it would be good for a classy night out. I like it so far! This was a blind purchase gone well! A big thanks to VeenVegas and isabella211 for triggering my curiosity for this scent!

  29. :

Spicy woods dominate this scent giving it a sexy vibe. Pepper is very noticeable throughout. Dries down to a creamy amber spiked with patchouli. I adore amber and it is very well done here. Similar in feel to Midnight Poison by Dior, but Nanette has less patch and more incense. It’s not too sweet, which makes it more sophisticated than most mainstream perfumes. Sillage and lasting power are very good. Bottle is absolutely stunning.

  30. :

    3 out of 5

Warm, sweet, a little spicy. Elegant without being too formal, versatile. You could wear it any time, any where and it would always be appropriate. It’s not a very loud scent for the strength of the notes, it blends in with the skin very well.

Received this in a swap from a great fragrantican!! WOW I LOVE this scent so much! It was actually a blind swap as well, as I went mostly by the notes and reviews. I really think its one of my new favourite scents!!! It’s warm, woody and a tad sweet on my skin, very cozy & inviting!! I just love it! Very happy with this gem! Not to mention the very pretty bottle! 🙂

  32. :

Love the sweet and spicy pepper opening. Mid way through this perfume transforms into something woody, very similar to Silk Way by Ted Lapidus, maybe its the cedar (looooovvve cedar). The drydown is very soft vanilla/amber/incense. The bottle is so lovely. My only dissapointment is that I did not find it at all similar to Le Baiser Du Dragon( which I think smells wonderful). Overall, I consider this a great blind buy.

  33. :

This is very pretty! Its very strong too so I’m glad I only got a rollerball. This smells almost exactly like moschino couture does on my skin. On me, I smell tons of benzoin, pink pepper and in sense. Though I find Nannette slightly more modern and beautiful than couture. I got a large rollerball on amazon for $5 so its an awesome find for me! Definitely warm and inviting. This would be beautiful as a fall/winter scent.

I’m not very good at reviews but have to respectfully disagree with the other posters about this being similiar to Estee Lauder’s Sensuous Noir. To my nose, SN is much deeper – and the pine note really shines through. Nanette has none of that, is softer, gentler, and “younger” in feel. Nanette and Sensuous Noir are two of my favorite woody fragrances and if you have one, your will probably want and love the other.
When I fist sprayed on Nanette, I almost dismissed it as being just another candy scent – nice, but nothing that has not been done. However, it developed into something amazing when the cedar came out. It’s really truly lovely. My hubs doesn’t normally like cedar frags because they remind him of having to clean out the hamster cage when he was young, but this fragrance is so beautifully well-rounded that it has none of that vibe.
I picked up a 1 oz for less than $20 on line – one of my best blind buys to date 🙂

I LOVE Nanette ! It’s soft, gently sweet, slightly woody, rich, lightly powdery, with very gentle peppery spices. Beautiful sweet amber glows in this fragrance, enveloping the delicate sweet incense and soft wood ! Florals are beautifully blended, graceful, enticing, making Nanette totally feminine.
Used together with the matching body lotion, Nanette lasts until you wash it off. Wears close to skin. What a beauty !
Yes, similar to Estee Lauder’s Sensuous Noir, Nanette is lighter in feel, great for day or night.
Silage is moderate to soft, longevity great !

This fragrance opens with a very pretty, strong, floral blast of roses and orange blossom. Quickly it subsides into its true character – one of depth and smokiness. There is a lot of heavy incense, grounded by smokey woods, and balanced out with sweet amber. This is very intense. A little spray goes a long way. Suitable for cooler weather.

Many thanks to ichellemay! for the swap (and generous samples!), so that I could get my hands on a bottle of Nanette Lepore. It’s been on my “want” list, and I’m so happy to try it.
First, the bottle itself is gorgeous–heavy glass reminiscent of antique cut crystal perfume bottles. Nanette’s bottle has nice heft with a smooth and pleasing profile; the crown-shaped top is plastic, but doesn’t look it. The box was a sleek black, lined with peach stripes. The perfume itself is a pale champagne-pink. Overall, an elegant treasure for any boudoir.
First spritz, I had to stifle my desire to scrub it off and remind myself (as so many of you have said) to wait it out the first 30 minutes. It starts very brassy and sharp, with “incense” notes that to my nose smelled like strong tobacco—almost harsh chewing tobacco. It matured to more of a pipe-tobacco note (rounder and fruitier) with some smokiness and pepper notes, but not the incense I was expecting. I also detected the cedar notes, crisp and penetrating but staying an undercurrent to the tobacco notes.
After about 2 hours, the scent is waning. There is still the fruity tobacco note, but it has mellowed to an almost undetectable sweet ashiness. And I use the word “sweet” with caution—nothing about this is flowery, dessertlike or sugary to my nose. “Sweet” only because it has stopped being so sharp. There might be some vanilla peeking out, but it is not a gourmand; I think that is the amber, softening the smoke.
I am catching wafts of it up through my clothes, but have either developed anosmia to it on my wrist or else it is fading. Sillage is low-modest. Longevity seems to be moderate.
This fragrance is going to take multiple wearings to really make up my mind on. It is not an instant favorite, and I’m afraid I’m going to dislike it. I was expecting more spicy-incense and more warmth. Nanette is a cool character, calmly smoking while wrapped in her cedar-scented Pashmina, leaning back and eyeing me mockingly. She’s not going to pour out all of her secrets on this first visit, and somehow I doubt we are going to be good friends…..

  39. :

While this scent presents itself in a lovely bottle and the champagne pink color is very attractive, the smell of overly sweet synthetic cedar-incense is not appealing to me at all.
It actually reminds me of a toned down version of Gap White Amber, which I can’t wear either.
So, while the packaging is lovely, it appears that’s where all the money was spent on this one.

  40. :

Very woody but sweet rather than smoky and strong. The drydown is addictive and seems to stick to my clothes so well. On skin, after about 2-3hrs, it has 6″ sillage. I smell pink pepper and amber sweetened by rose. If the incense is there, then it is very soft and not assaulting as it is in Sensuous Noir. Lately (yr 2012), the latest offerings on the market tend toward sweet, floral and somewhat girly. NL is not as sweet, is more mysterious and exotic but soft. Good for office or close-encounters situations (does not offend). Beautiful bottle and black box. $20 for 100ml at select Shoppers. Have stocked up on four boxes so far. Favourite right now. 4/5

Just today I met Nanette… I first got a whiff of florals and vanilla .. almost tonka bean too. She came on strong and bold yet, soft like sugared powder. I got fancy visions of Candied violets, of luxurious powderooms where cosmetics ruled, of plush Persian carpets which hushed the sound of high heels and organza dresses.. oh oh.. whimsical again.. sorry in advance. 😀 She simply crawled in my brain and stayed there.

That’s how I feel, too, Jellybean. The combination of incense plus sweet make for an all too strange combination, which turns it completely sour. Whether on my skin or from the bottle, this is a sour fragrance, and it’s disgusting. It’s cheap, and for a reason. Yuck.

Let me gauge the ingredients: musty sugar, that’s really all there is to it. It dries down to this strange peppery musk aka something’s going stale.
Knock of sweet teeny celeb fumes that posses no quality whatsoever. This one utterly stinks.
Contradictory to its contents, the flask is cutish.
    Waste of my $20 bucks.

What a wonderful surprise this turned out to be. A sweet woody floral but ever so smooth in transition from ambery to balmy. A hint of pink pepper with emphasis on the pink. One of those fragrances that you smell and go “mmmmmmm”….

    Beautiful bottle and box.
Pleasant enough scent… different than what I was expecting. Was hoping for more of a spicy kick.
Not seeing the resemblance to E.L. Sensuous Noir at all, which I wear almost every day. S. Noir has a great fresh patchouli river running through it and an almost plummy (though not listed) depth.
This does not seem sweet to me, but then, I love the really sweet frags like Flowerbomb and Pink Sugar… on a sweetness scale of 1-10, I’d say this only rates about a 3 in comparison to those.
Doesn’t last long on me. 15 minutes of 6″ projection, and within an hour its so close to the skin as to be almost undetectable by me. I’ll have to wear it to work and see if anyone comments. That seems to happen to me a lot… I can’t detect my perfume, others can.
I detect a smokey tobacco leaf note (which is perhaps the powder aspect?), a touch of honey (very light amber?), a tad bit of woodiness (that grows over time). The rose is a whisper, which is fine by me since rose gives me headaches… The spices are barely there.
For the price, its a safe buy. The bottle alone is worth it. But I’ll stick with my precious Sensuous Noir.
Edit: Okay, its been a little over 2 hours, and I’m catching whiffs of wood. Ever so light sweet (hint of rose?) cedar wood. Not too dry… but not wet. Its rather pleasant. Not masculine. Almost like I’m standing in a building made entirely of wood. I can see me layering this scent, considering the dry down.

ok, I agreed to swap for this even though it has an incense note it in, I hate incense by it self so i have been scared of this note. However when i found there is incense in scents that i love (only a few) i have told myself not to be so scared about it. But still in the back of my mind i was freaking out. I got it in the mail the other night and tried and and wow this is such a lovely elegant scent I really really like it and am very happy with my swap. Now I really LIKE this but don’t love it, its so pretty but still not sure if its something i would reach for much. But we’ll see the more i talk about it on her the more i want to go up to my room and smell this lovely, delicate, elegant fragrance.

weegee, thank you for your very helpful review – I have Nanette and like it a lot. I’ve also been wanting to try Sensuous Noir because the notes all sound so good, but Estee Lauder scents often don’t agree with me. So knowing this is even better, especially at the very reasonable price, really makes my day!
I don’t find it overly sweet at all, unlike the Nanette Lepore Nanette Lepore (flowery pink bottle.) This one has the wonderful woody notes in the dry down, and I think the pink pepper counters the sweetness too. It’s an oriental floral that doesn’t shout – it’s fine for work but it has staying power. The bottle is a little hard to spray from, but it is lovely.

Nanette by Nanette Lepore is an unheralded wonder!. There’s a light sweetness to the incense (rather than a smokey feel) that emphasizes the loveliness of pale pink roses seamlessly blended with the tang of cedar and a milky, woody subtle violet with hints of almond (although there is actually no almond note) that all combine as something truly beautiful.
Longevity is 6-8 hours and people stop me to ask the name of the gorgeous fragrance I’m wearing — you simply cannot go wrong! If you find a bottle that includes the pink & black zippered train case you’ll find it a nice bonus.
The body lotion is also lovely and increases the longevity of the fragrance by another 2-4 hours.
Edit A: a kind member sent me a sample of Barbara Bui and the drydown is identical to Nanette but Nanette lasts hours longer. If you have Nanette you need not add BB to your collection.
Edit B: I blind bought a bottle of Estee Lauder’s Sensuous Noir and returned it the same day after discovering it seemed like a bitter imitation of Nanette, and believe me, I couldn’t have been more surprised! I did a wrist-to-wrist comparison t
