Sharp rose with a bit of musk. After the dry down, all that’s left is a rose dominant fragrance. I like it for what it is, however it reminds me slightly of Mancera’s Black to Black, (even The Aoud) for which I own; B2B is far better in my opinion…. Nice, but a pass.

Here, we have an extremely fresh rose (fruity, citrusy), a winter rose drenched in incense and a very delicate touch of myrrh. Myrrh will be more present in the dry down, but always subtle adding a little touch of sweetness without being… sweet. Add to this, not entirely original but extremely well blended mixture, the freshness of a minty geranium enveloping the rose, increasing the aspect of freshness. I was worried of the vanilla note, fearing too much sweetness, but it is not really perceptible on me. Hours later, the rose has lightly vanished, making room for a more balsamic scent, still subtle and never loud. In music we would say: after a remarkable exposition followed a calm & serene adagio.
Like most Bois 1920, there is often a lot of notes, especially floral notes in the makings of these blends. I cannot say I detect them all. By looking at the notes, I had imagined something darker, more profound before trying NAGUD. But expectations aside, this is a nice surprise. You know when you test a fragrance for the first time and… you smile spontaneously at what you are witnessing! In the intoxicating-marvel rose category, I would add Nagud next to Tauer’s Une Rose de Kandahar & Armani Privé’s Rose d’Arabie.
For those who prefer the rose stripped of its honey’d & tobacco like notes, NAGUD is a true pleasure!
In a few words… fresh rose drenched in incense & myrrh.
