Description

My Life, My Dream, My Passion are three perfumes from a very interesting collection by the house of Gres, and they were launched in honour of Marlene Dietrich. The collection Hommage a Marlene Dietrich was presented in 2007, as a game on components, colours, art, history… Her eccentricity and elegance inspired creators to offer chic perfumes with a breath of past Parisian times, but interpreted in modern way.

Advertising poster that represents this interesting collection puts Marlene’s spiritual posture from the movie The Shanghai Express in the first plan, in a game of different colours. The colours stand for various moods and roles. They are created in the same form with a discrete game on colours on details of the bottle. The wish for metamorphosis of feelings and change of female character is perfectly painted with change of nuances of colours.

Hommage a Marlene Dietrich My Dream was presented in 2007 as a ‘nobles’ classic with tradition of the Parisian “Haute perfumery”, as timeless Marlene’s “The Power to Be a Vision”. It seduces with unconditioned elegance and in its olfactive character it agrees perfectly with presentation of ”beloved goddess”. The perfume was created in cooperation with two perfumers Jean-Christophe Herault and Sidonie Lancesseur.

It opens with a breeze of Italian mandarin, pineapple, melon, black currant, apple and cloves in the top notes. The heart encompasses accords of Casablanca lily, rose, violet, lily of the valley, orange blossom and heliotrope. The base notes introduce sandalwood, iris, vanilla, amber and musk. The perfume is available in an elegant bottle as 60 ml EDP.

It is worth mentioning that design of the prestigious collection was done by artistic studio Aesthete. The collection has been on the market since spring 2008 and the price is 59 euro for a 60 ml EDP.

Such a calm and peaceful scent. Makes me feel happy every time I wear it:) only wish it would last a bit longer on my skin. It’s a 9.5 / 10 from me.

At first My Dream smells like Juicy Fruit chewing gum – a nasty mess of aromas that fills my mind with a scrapbook of disconnected images including chemical fruit (mainly pineapple), sugary sweetness, and plastic toys. Eventually, the compost settles down and the fruit goes to the background and a powdery, light generic floral is foregrounded. It puts images in my mind of pink bows, Barbie dolls, ruffled dresses, hyper-femininity. Yuck!
I think this rubbish was designed by a committee and there were too many cooks and the result was a fail. How did it get past the quality control at Grès? I would be depressed if this were my dream. Of all forms of poverty, poverty of the soul is worst. This fragrance has no soul, no originality, it is just a cloud of vacuity – distilled from the mist that settles over the slough of mediocrity in that vale of tears where penny-pinching cheapness mingles its polluted waters with the scummy run-off from the sewage farm of naff.
I could try layering it with something but why bother when there is nothing it can contribute. This sort of sugary candied nothing just sucks the life out of everything it touches. Big thumbs down – unwearable unless you are a Barbie doll 🙁

Very classy, a bit cologne-like, pretty much ‘nineties‘, extremely elegant and feminine. Timeless.

A big white, dewy flower bouquet with a pink ribbon and a card from your beloved. A present that every Woman, every Diva would like to receive.
The opening is fresh, sweet, but it quite quickly shows its powdery notes which are light, well rounded because of the interaction between the fruity-flowery notes and this strong, beautiful base notes. The base formula is powder+ vanilla+ wood notes= to die for.
Very feminine, flowery and beautiful. I think it’s suitable for almost everybody, it has all the beautiful notes in it.

It reminds me of Lancome Tresore. I would say not only reminds, but it’s almost the same, just a little bit lighter version of it. Still it’s good.

I would call it “three in one”.Top,the heart and basenotes seem like three different perfumes to me.It opens like firework of fresh fruit-apple,pineapple which smell very natural.A little bit later-soft kisses of black currant and mandarin only in warm weather.Apple connects top with the heart.Heart is big bouquet of flowers and it’s difficult to recognise separate notes.I could call it hurricane of dreams at first few hours. And the drydown is sweet, quiet vanilla, musk and any signs of top and heart notes…Dreams came true?
