Just took the plunge and bought a 50 ml bottle, I’m not getting any musc or civet just vanilla and cinnamon , longevity and projection adequate but expect more for the price, to my nose it’s nothing at all like meharees I can’t smell any similarity at all

Possibly my favourite fragrance of all time! Cuddly, friendly or seductive, depending on your attitude and the occasion. It took me a long time to gather the courage to buy it – I was scared by reviews that said this was outwardly sexy, loud and masculine. I actually find it a very warm, sensual skin scent. After dreaming about Musc constantly I cracked and bought a 50ml and have never regretted it! In winter this is my most reached-for perfume and the most comforting.
Amazingly high quality and great longevity. Lasts forever on skin and clothes.
I adore it! Trust your nose. If this works for you and your chemistry, go for it!

Musc Ravegeur is my first introduction to Frederic Mall. I love it! I had tried several musc-oriented fragrances in the past, but often were hits-and-misses. I am not sure whether my skin chemistry is not quiet compatible with musc-based fragrances or some other reasons. However, Musc Ravegeur behaves so well with my skin. It opens with a huge blast of spicy musk, probably due to the presence of cloves and cinnamon that are so obvious to me on the top notes. Some may find the opening is very challenging. After about half an hour, the magic begins. It becomes so warm and comforting. The spicy notes still present, but much calmer, and in fact, adds a nice touch on the overall scent. I find Musc Ravegeur very comforting to me. It lasts throughout my working day, but becomes much closer to the skin. On clothes, it will last for a long time. I feel this fragrance is more appropriate for colder season. I would not wear this in the heat of summer. I believe women can wear this with confidence as well. Overall, Musc Ravegeur is a very alluring musc-based fragrance, and a very comforting one. This is a real fine offering by Frederic Malle. The asking price is steep, but indeed matches the quality of this fragrance.

The great thing about Musc Ravageur is..theres no white musk at all. Anywhere. Thank the GODS. No laundry scent. No clean, cold sharpness. This is warm..it has a heartbeat. Its heartbeat is masterfully pared down into its basic components of some of the most classic oriental spicy amber accord made famous in the past with icons such as COCO, Opium and Shalimar.
Its warm and cozy as cashmere and a easy wear in the fall and winter if you have worn some of the oriental icons of past decades. Its a gingerbread warm cookie and a chai latte by the fireplace. It leans almost silky gourmand to make this a new way of an classic idea. Bravo Malle. Just lovely.

    This is GOOD.
Fuzzy and a bit dusty. Some vanilla, gently sweet. A hint of baking spices…
This is what I want my scarves to smell like this autumn.
Musc Ravageur smells like… fluffy, magic kitten fur.

If this ain’t sexy… then what the hell is?
Can’t believe I’ve waited so long to get with Musc Ravageur. Was on a shortlist of fragrances to try years ago, during a brief obsession with animalics, but I never ended up sampling it. When I finally did, a few days ago, it exceeded my high expectations. Was an easy purchase decision to get a full bottle.
This is essentially a slightly civety musk cushioned in a pillow of spiced, milky vanilla. The longevity is rather good; projection is low after the first hour. More of a sexy skin scent vibe.
    It’s great stuff – I’m hooked 🙂

Very oriental. Lot of cloves and cinnamon; some vanilla, musk, wood and maybe a floral. Spicy, medicinal vibe from the cloves. Drydown smells kind of like Jovan Musk but less floral.
MR is unisex leaning feminine with an 0ld lady vibe. Mature and for cooler weather. There are better scents for work but worse ones too. I don’t find it sexy. Lasted about five hours with average sillage and projection. I swear I could still smell it faintly after a shower. Notes are natural smelling as expected from Frederic Malle but I just don’t care for the composition. MR uses clove and cinnamon too heavily for my taste but I suppose this is an Oriental style perfume. It should perform better for this price imo. Musc Ravageur doesn’t do much for me.

Yummy. Intimate. Familiar. Very, very sexy (I think…). Cosy. Warming. Sweet. Did I say sexy? Definitely sexy.

    Beauty and the beast!
The Beast from tale of “Beauty and the beast ” is the best way to explain how feelings of this fragrance, you can dread it or run away from it at the first sight because the raw beast animalic but you will falling in love when you know him.
This fragrance open with raw dry vanilla and raw musky ( so harsh and animalic )
I personally like this fragrance, but I hesitate to say I love it (at first). This is combination of old fashion and classic way, the ancient powdery scent combining with animalic in the background reminded me of ” Shalimar “(not similar but same feeling).
This is sexy? Maybe, it a kind of dark side of sexiness.
Scent 8/10 (I hate it at first, a month later I just can’t stop thinking about it!)
Project 8/10 (Arm length on my skin, and middle project better than open!)
    Longevity 8.5/10 ( About 8-10 hrs )
The musky note in this fragrance so fierce like the tiger at the open and dry down to dried raw vanilla and sweet ( clove in this fragrance not dominant the scent, but mixed and blended seamlessly with other very well to make it darker and dense.)
“Don’t trust what the eyes can see and judge it at the first sign, spend more time to know this beast than you might falling in love… ”
Open as Beast/Dark/Raw/Ancient , dry down to Gentle/Sweet/Romance

a spicy, musky, powdery vanillic, slightly animalic fragrance.
2009 version review: this one starts off with cloves and cinnamon. the cloves starts to decrease leaving room for the cinnamon, musk and vanilla to take over and transform the smell into a border-line gourmand with a slightly animalic feel. it is also powdery. this fragrance lasts very long. i could still smell it on my skin almost 24 hours after application as a creamy fragrance.
    8.2/10

2009 formula on skin: This is considered dirty? It’s a soft sweet amber gourmand that invites me to come closer. Faintly powdery, although not in a talc kind of way. Feminine rather than masculine. I guess my nose reads “animalic” musk as “skin”.
Very strong in the summer heat, so I apply it very lightly and I think it works in the air conditioned indoors. I wouldn’t wear it outside though. Some heavy scents like L’air du Desert Marocain work outdoors on a summer day despite the heat, but IMO Musk Ravageur is too sweet.
Edit: Wow. This worked on its intended target; let’s leave it at that. 😉

Frederic Malle should have named this fragrance ‘Cinnamon Ravageur’! I was expecting loads of animalic musk, but when I sprayed this on, the strongest notes that emerged were cinnamon, cloves and vanilla, with some tame musk in the background. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that I am testing this frag in a very hot and humid weather, and it might work differently when it’s colder outside. Still, I didn’t expect such a Christmas-like, almost edible concoction. So, if you’re looking for a festive treat that projects strongly and lasts for hours, buy this fragrance; on the other hand, if you’re looking for a dirty musk-bomb, look elsewhere.

First off, I pick up a slight booziness here, it’s a little intoxicating. I can see the (slight) similarity to L de Lolita Lempicka, but to me, Musc Ravageur has that slight boozy scent..and a cozy, come-closer warmth and a depth that L de Lolita Lempicka lacks. To me, L de Lolita Lempicka smells straight-up like holiday cookies (and the very best holiday cookies you ever had in your life..;) ), whereas there’s a softer sweetness and a little more complexity with Musc Ravageur.
For me, L de Lolita Lempicka is vanilla sweet holiday cookies, more gourmand, and Musc Ravageur leans a little Oriental imo. Musc Ravageur is definitely more complex to me..I even pick up a slight tobacco/cigar/smokiness at times with Ravageur…..I like them both, but I would not call them dupes…(in this case, it would be Lolita as the possible ‘dupe,’ being it was created in 2006, years after Ravageur).
To me, Musc Ravageur is just one of those fragrances that you want to grab a really good book or your significant other and snuggle in by a cozy fireplace on a damp chilly or even cold blustery snowing day. Sweetness, warmth, a little more complex than L de Lolita Lempicka. There is also a lovely calmness that I get with Musc Ravageur. None of the notes stand out to me with Musc Ravageur, so they are all nicely blended to my nose/on my skin. The cinnamon nor anything is “screaming”. I can’t speak of any of the other current fragrances listed in the “reminds me of” category. Not overpowering, but I think a couple spritzes is just perfect for that “come closer, I smell yummy” sillage. Moderate longevity.

I have a weird bond with Musc Ravageur. One where I am ambivalent about it, don’t know if I love it or not but for some reason I keep on using it and smelling my wrist when I do. It reminds me of an unhealthy relationship with a woman, where she is married and you have an affair. You know it’s wrong, you know it’s never going to go anywhere serious and each time you are done having your raunchy and dirty session, you leave feeling guilty and confused but you keep coming back for more because you can’t help it…
It opens very spicy and earthy (cloves) and with an orange note and an aromatic lavender giving off a kind of medicinal vibe to the top. Could be the smell of a cinnamon/cloves ointment for sore muscles. In the background as the name implies you can find an amazing dirtier musk for a more carnal, sexual side with a “hairy” feel or texture to me. As time passes by the musky cinnamon stays and is joined by a smoother vanilla giving off a strong Cinnabon aura. So in the end I get a warm, very spicy Cinnabon with a light chocolate vibe and covered with vanilla laying on a farm goat or sheep’s clean hair. Does it sound weird to you? Yeah to me too, but somehow it looks like it works and I own a bottle of it. Why? I couldn’t tell you, but it lures me in. Damn you Musc Ravageur.

This smells exactly like one of those vanilla-scented plastic dog bones you find at the pet shop. It even has a note of animalic raunchiness. My pipe aficionado uncle used to have a mean little dog named Mugsy, and the house smelled like Captain Black pipe tobacco and Musc-Ravageur-scented dog toys. All pleasant memories, but I don’t want to smell like Mugsy.

First I smelled this olfactory decadence on a friend, then I ordered a sample. I wore the sample out, then dove in for a 100ml bottle. Not the 50, the 100, because I will be wearing this frequently. Velvety Oriental notes, deep, warm vanilla and spice layered with wood… I’m all in. As a middle aged woman who can’t stand wearing florals, this fits the bill in so many ways. Gourmand without being foody or cloyingly sweet. Sensual, earthy, and as others have stated, easier to wear than Shalimar (which I still appreciate).
A single spray makes for a pleasant skin scent I can enjoy all day while working at my desk. Two sprays and people around me start to notice. Three and I think I’d have to leave the room. Longevity is excellent, especially on clothes.

Lovely in winter and straight up sex in summer. I wear it in both seasons and it brings completely different scents. In the winter the clove is more dominant and I get more cinnamon. In the summer it is sweeter, more animalic and somehow fresher, IMO. I know many people think this cannot be pulled off in summer, but that is not correct. Regulation
of your sprays will make a huge difference. Try a spray or two on a summers evening and embrace the magic!
Compliments are many, but I wear this for me and my lady.

I love ittt… And I’m not even that much of a fan of strong oriental powerhouses. I don’t get that much of vanilla and cinnamon… Jut throwback 80’s sweetish musk (similar to civet), elegant woods in the background (sandalwood and guaiac), and a little bit of fruity/sweet and herbal soapy notes in the background for a balance. Non cloying vanilla is dancing around somewhere there all the time. It’s strong but still fresh at the same time.
It has a yin, masculine energy and gives you confidence, but is definitely unisex. Overall gives me an Italian vibe. 🙂

This is just so addictive, so sexy, so heavenly..just everything in a bottle! When I first sprayed it on paper, I wasn’t so sure I liked this scent. But after I put the paper on my desk and came back to my room an hour later… The whole room smelled like heaven! I bought the 100ml bottle right away the next day, and it’s still the best thing I have ever done..
On my skin it smells very smoky. musky vanilla, like vanilla burning and surrounded by smokes and fumes, and musks lingering in the background. I can’t even explain how beautiful the scent is, I’m just so happy to have this scent in my room. Now the weather is changing to hot, humid summer, which sadly means that I wouldn’t be able to spray this for a while. Waiting for cold weather so that I can spray this again soon..
Although this is my favorite scent and I can’t express all my love for this, I wouldn’t recommend a blind buy. To me, it definitely smelled much better on my skin than on paper, but this might depend on each person’s skin chemistry and tastes. But if you like oriental, smoky vanilla, this probably would easily become your favorite too.
Edit: Most people seem to think of this as somewhat masculine.. To me it’s just totally unisex. I’m a tiny young woman and I really enjoy it on myself. Goes well with both genders. And what does masculine really mean, anyways? 😉

I tried this a few years ago and didn’t like it very much. Trying it now, I kind of love it. The difference may be due to either me knowing more about fragrances or a reformulation – for the better (which is unusual). Perhaps it is a combination of the two – a perfection of the blend, as well as an improvement of my nose.
The notes are well known, with musk, amber, vanilla being in focus. I am sensitive to vanilla and cannot stand too much of it. Fortunately this vanilla is not very sweet and not too domineering, though I could still wish for less.
It is extremely well blended and is a ‘sexy’ skin fragrance, one of the few original and among the best in today’s world.

This is not for everyone. Not a compliment getter. You must be very confident and risky to wear this sexy animalic scent. There’s something mysterious about this fragrance. I feel very special when I wear this. Masterpiece!!

Just putting this out there, Maurice Roucel did L de Lolita Lempicka AND Labdanum 18 Le Labo. Haven’t smelled either of the other two – just something I noticed 🙂

    This is glorious.
    Just not on me.
My skin kils it every time, I swear. For an hour or two it’s spectacular and then it’s just plain musky slightly spicy vanilla for another two and then… nothing. It is so frustrating that afterwords I have to make myself feel better. Usually with Shalimar who is so loud and unbelievably naughty for at least a day that wearing Musc Ravageur seems pointless.
But, I love it dearly and I am incapable of getting rid of it. Because those two hours are worth it.

This just reminds me of Christmas. So cinnamony and Spicy. It is warm and comforting. An open fire on a snowy winter’s evening and a glass of fine wine and conversation with a friend or loved one. So very comforting.

THIS IS A HEAVY SCENT….that’s the best way to describe it in one word. Its also fascinating in the fact that people get different interpretations of it. Some people hate it. Some people love it…..there’s no real middle ground with this one. It’s not safe but daring. People consider it a panty dropper or sex juice but to me its just a beautiful impressionable scent. It starts off top loaded with cloves lavender and some citrus. Pretty soon the cinnamon and vanilla join the party to sweeten things up and the cloves hang around for just the right touch of dark “heaviness” It’s not overly sweet but just sweet and smoky enough to bring it attention. I can’t stress it enough that you should go very easy on the trigger. I think some people don’t like it because they love to go heavy on the trigger. Two sprays on the neck one or two sprays on each wrist and thats it. It will last. It ends with mostly musk and woods with the vanilla hanging around but just a touch. It goes through different stages which is cool
This is not for everyone. It’s just not a safe inoffensive compliment hungry scent. Well I should say you might get some compliments but it’s just not as mainstream and acceptable as the type of scents that people at Macy’s would tend to sell you per say. It’s a daring scent. It’s a bit mature. Can’t see people in high school wearing this lol. It’s a fragrance lovers fragrance. I think it’s worth the money if you like it and that’s all that matters. Peace

‘Cause lately I’ve been craving more
And it’s been a while but I still feel the same
Maybe I should let you go…

Well, so this is my Gordian knot.
    Musc Ravageur.
How should I treat this friendly beast?
I can wear Eden, Elephant, Secretions Magnifiques, nothing is strange enough for my taste – and when I try to go out with Musc Ravageur, I´m always totally overwhelmed. It´s too intimate. It evokes those memories that were burnt up & thoroughly buried. It gives me that kind of vibes that should be shared just with the chosen one, not with the crowd. And there should be a caution sign on the bottle, something like “hic sunt leones”. Musc Ravageur is the scent of intimacy, musky & sweet, exciting & calming at once, sexy – but never vulgar.

Yea, very animalic. Musc, wild musc.
    Much lavender and cloves.
This is for man skin chemistry.
Once tryed I liked it, because of bergamote. But after ordering and getting a sample I found this musc a bit too soapy wild animal fur. Bergamote is hidden somewhere under.
And not close to L de Lempicka, if only in very drydown.

My signature scent for a California winter. I’m drinking a caramel latte, and I maybe haven’t showered today. I’m loving smelling like an edible animal. Gorgeous stuff. Light yet sensual, gourmand yet Eastern. Lasts on clothes for days, and over time becomes even more delicious.

A very nice easy to wear musc. If you are a young man trying to impress the young ladies, this is not for you. This is the kind of cozy and personal smell that envelopes you and makes you happy. But for ladies, I think this would be very sexy at any age above 25.
It’s not loud and it’s good. If it were a bit stronger like Perry Ellis Black Vanilla Absolute, than guys wouldn’t be able to wear this. I get the same kind of vibe from this as Lubin Akkad. Although not in the notes, I think I smell honey in it as well.
I found a good deal on a 100 ml tester bottle on Ebay below $200, so I blind bought it and I do not regret. But I would not pay the full market price of $280.
You get a good 12 hour on your skin and a decent sillage for about 2 hours. After that it stays close to you. That’s all based on my tester bottle. But the ones that come in their normal commercial packaging might have even better performance who knows.

Amazing how negative some of these reviews are. Some of them even sound personal…lol! There are a number of fragrances I dislike for whatever reason but I don’t go trying to turn people away from the scents and/or brands that I don’t like. These are all personal opinions which is why there are forums…but some of these responses don’t even make sense. If you like something try it…if you like it…try it again…if you love it…buy it. Your nose is more in tune with what you like…than some of the reviews people leave on some amazing juices! To each is own…I Love it and get a lot compliments! Maybe some of you just need to know how to actually wear it!

When I smelled it in a tester, I though “wow, this is really nice, I might HAVE to move on my to-buy list”, but I changed my mind when I was wearing it.
First of all, I do not buy Musc perfume for myself, I can wear them if I get a sample, but not a full-bottle. Musc Ravageur is a very cosy mix of musk and vanilla, with a microgram of cinnamon. It is like a cosy blanket you grab wearing pyjamas on a snowy Sunday morning.
It reminds me of something my mom used to wear when I was 5 years old. I cannot wear it to work, because I no longer feel myself as independent and smart woman 30+, instead I feel I am still 5…
This fragrance should be a must-have on everyone’s “to try” educational list if you are into perfumes, but for a cosy pyjama scent I would wear smth else for much less than 250€.
Beast longevity: the scent was killing me during a danse class 10 hours after application…

This is nearly a great fragrance, I think perhaps it used to be should reformulation rumours be true.
I love a curry and they definitely plundered my spicy drawers for this. Clove and cinnamon up and in your business from the get go. The first half hour is quite abrasive. Luckily like me after a glass of vino, it mellows into a warm, musky, spicy number. This is nice, the synthetic, reedy civet note less so and I don’t remember that from an earlier sample I had.
So, close, but no cigar. Nice but not magnificent.

I was always intrigued by this one. Finally, I tried today in a frederic malle shop. Along with Iris Poudree, this is also my favourite. (By the way, have you ever been in a Frederick Malle shop? Naive, I thought that those cilinders where made to get inside of them… like a Jetson’s teletransportation tube… tres ludique!) Back to the fragrance, instant love. However, I thought MR was very close to shalimar. And the sales rep agreeded with me… It s been decades that I ve been procrastinating to have a Shalikar EDP. Thanks Musc Ravageur for finally convincing me!

From the title I was expecting an animalic musk, but no – this is a cookie. It falls into the “yummy” category of scents. My wife swears there’s an anise note which makes it smell like her Christmas Pizzelle. Whatever… this is a very nice gourmandy scent. Put me on the bandwagon: I like this stuff.

    Powdery cosmetic yet cinnamon blend.
It has Iris, cinnamon, powder, lavendar, sandalwood, big doses of vanilla (that will show later than 30 mins), amber, and musk. I can’t detect any cloves.
I do see why this is highly praised as it’s a balanced easy to wear fragrance. It’s not a divine blend rather than a fragrance that is commonly accepted and fairly put.

Finally a fragrance from Frederick Malle I can actually wear without feeling like my grandfather on his way to bingo sporting his depends dropper! This stuff is the nectar of the gods! Very masculine scent with a lot going on. Very unique, woody, spicy and animalic. I adore this frag. Projection & longevity is pure beast mode. Get your nose on this one.

The biggest notes I get out of this in the winter are clove, cinnamon, and lavender. If you don’t know what clove smells like, it kind of smells like a greased up bowling ball. Although that may sound very off-putting, it actually works in this composition. The clove is what gives this fragrance a “the most interesting man in the world” vibe. In other words, it makes it very “alpha.” The lavender and cinnamon are beautiful together, and the vanilla comes out when the weather is warmer. 100% not for women, even though it’s sold as unisex

Rice pudding with heavy cinnamon. yes…
I tried this and it does last a long time, Not a musk bomb like i hoped.
It’s more of a gourmand vanilla, Mocha Latte with cinnamon, but when it dries and gets sticky on a table. I don’t get any fruity notes from this.
Not bad at all, well crafted and cozy, but i was expecting something more musky like Kiehl’s original musk. But this is closer to A*Men or B*Men
    Sillage: moderate
    Longevity: Long

There are only a few perfumes I consider addicting, and this is one of them. It fits so many moods and events. It’s sexy, but also calming to me. I love everything about this masterpiece and would not change one thing.
I begin to miss it and long for it if I’ve not worn it a few weeks. I love to smell my arms and wrists after spraying this because I can smell so many different scents. It’s truly mesmerizing.
My favorite from the Malle line.

  42. :

    3 out of 5

Very impressive nuances in one spray; animalic, but not pungent; sweet, but not mouthwatering; musky, but not overwhelming. Like all products of the FM line, it is addictive to smell, and develops marvellously over time as it settles into the skin.
First phase (0-2 hr): Many people commented of the harshness of the openness – I beg to differ. I actually like the opening very much, with its blast of musk, dark chocolate, and tobacco. It was mentioned that there is no musk in this product, it’s definitely there to give the animalic tinge in some way. And it’s not synthetic-smelling musk; it’s a rather goumandy kind of musk. Sounds unusual, because it is.
Second phase (2-5 hr): The dry down is superb, comparable to that of La Nuit’s. The dark chocolate remains, and the sweetness of vanilla, citrus, tonka, cinnamon, and cloves start to dominate. It’s strange to see the citrus here because it fills the top notes, but that’s because of the musk. In fact, the musk is so tamed that I could suffice with a linear performance.
Third phase (>6 hr): Unlike the monstrous performance on others, this one lasts about 8 hours on me (due to my tropical climate, perhaps). At the third phase the gourmandy nature of the perfume is emphasised; chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla, a little of lavender and amber. At this point, it becomes sweet, but a dirty kind of sweet. I guess the musk is still there afterall.
    Scent: 8/10
Phenomenal, well-balanced, and one-of-a-kind. Although it’s expected of its price, it’s of its own league and can’t really be compared with other musks or gourmands. It is harsh once oversprayed; don’t go trigger-happy with this.
    Longevity: 7/10
I could have given more, but as an objective benchmark of my own, a 10/10 should last 24 hours. If this lasts for 8 hours on my skin, then 7/10 is rather fair for its price. But this does not mean it’s bad performance – 7/10 is outstanding as a score.
    Projection: 6/10
I don’t see this project off my skin well, even during winter. After an hour or so, I asked around and no one said that could smell it unless at close proximity (i.e. physical contact). Comments have said this to be powerful, but I don’t get it. Perhaps I’m getting too insensitive of its scent profile. Perhaps.
    Versatility: 7/10
I actually wear this everyday, because of the scent. I don’t find this a problem even in the tropical climate, unless it’s high summer heat and you might want to preserve some of that money. I can see this as a night fragrance due to its sweetness, but I’d think that its dirty musky chocolate scent could qualify for the day. Just not for a pool party or sports, please.
    Value: 7/10
It’s expensive, but it’s niche. I purchased this at 170 Euros at a retail with tax refund, and I think this is a rather decent price of niche fragrances. I mean, I would still buy this even if it’s 220 Euros for its scent. As a hallmark, Creed’s Viking is 2/10.
    Overall: 7/10 (Great)

I don’t know why but this cologne and prada luna rossa sport are the lady killer of my fragrance collection. I can tell you, this is a head turner

This is still a magnificent perfume! Beast mode longevity. I will not go into notes and the rest, enought has been said before from great reviewers. I agree.
So this is this is warm, cozy, sexy, intriguing, misterious & potent. Such a treat. Lasts forever.
This is unisex indeed, but I’m a woman and from my prospective I feel like a beautiful & wise woman when I wear this. It’s like I do not have to be too loud because I know I will get noticed and I will get what I desire. It’s strange. I love it. It’s a feminine confidence.
It’s being spicy and sweet at the same time.
About reformulation…whatever was changed, if it was changed did not make any harm in my opinion. Maybe less animalic, maybe. I really can not complaint.
One of my all time favourite.

    ********REPOST********
My expectation was a bit different upon first trying this and I am not sure if I was ready even prepared for what I initially received. Within this fragrance, one has to allow good, timely, maceration to take place. Give this a bit of time, if judged on the onset, you will be surely disappointed, however if you allow some time I believe you will appreciate what this fragrance has to offer. I believe I might have express dislike prematurely without allowing Musc Ravegeur to develop on my skin with time and patience.
    After going back to this, giving Musc Ravegeur a full wearing my thoughts have changed slightly;
Musc Ravegeur is gourmand and spicy, yet ambery as well. By gourmand, there is vanilla that causes this to lean in a sweet vanillic direction. Initially, this fragrance was a turn off; there was a very distinct off-putting smell that made me cringe.
This fragrance is soft, animalic with some vanilla creaminess…not woodsy to me but floral with a touch of sweetness. Not sure I would rush out to get a bottle, however let’s just say the pendulum swung!!
In my previous review my sentiments somewhat remain, however slightly modified; I still get the rough stringent (urinal) aroma up front, however with many fragrances sometimes that is upon initial spray. That stringent blast does not remain very long. Overall, an ok fragrance!
    ************Initial Review:*************
[So I maybe the only one who thinks this fragrance smells…….Um, um (what’s the correct word here I am looking for) stinky?!?! I’ve read that for some this reminded them of urine in the initial spray…..BULLSEYE!!!
I thought it was just me thinking this. Don’t get me wrong, Frederic Malle has some great fragrances, however in my humble opinion Musc Ravageur does not get the rave reviews I suspected!
    So, I had never smelled Musc Ravegeur before but have heard so many raves about it! I am not sure what to think;
vanilla, spices [cinnamon], and woods [cedar]. Right away I get those notes followed by some lavender and bergamot. However, when these are mixed together I am not sure what to think…el nopie nope!
In the end, all that is left is vanilla and spice, perhaps more vanilla than spice! To me this smells dated, almost like something a grandfat
