Description

Burberry launches Mr. Burberry Indigo in 2018 as a fresh, spring and casual edition of the original Mr. Burberry from 2016.The new version is inspired by the fresh sea breeze of the English coast.

Lemon and rosemary in the top lead to the aromatic heart of violet leaf of violet and mint oil. The base is made of warmer amber accords and oak moss that provide depth to the composition. The creator of this line is master perfumer Francis Kurkdjian.

The design of the bottle represents the legendary Burberry trench coat (the navy blue one). The face of the advertising campaign is Josh Whitehouse photographed on the English coast by Alasdair McLellan.

The fragrance is available as a 50, 100 and 150 ml Eau de Toilette.

On a first application I was happily surprised by the bright and uplifting notes, vibrant citrus and a light marine note. Fantastic.
But slowly and surely, one by one the herbal notes approached. Mint, Rosemary, Sage… suddenly the uplifting fragrance turned into a after shave. Clean, yes. Somehow attractive, yes. Inoffensive and easy to wear, yes.
But also so forgivable. It’s a nice guy with not much personality.
An expensive version of a body spray/after shave.

I honestly blind bought this one.
I am glad I did. $53 for a 150ml GIANT bottle. Couldn’t pass that one up.
Upon first application, I immediately got a Varvatos Artisan Acqua/Artisan Blu vibe. Although they are similar, they also share their differences…which in this case is good.
The above Varvatos’s are good, however, they turn very original really fast.
What separates this from the rest is the lovely, prickly, green mint and rosemary. This is an absolute beautiful use of the spicy rosemary. There is just enough to give this stuff a superb green dimension without being too “in your face.” This is hands down the best recent/modern Burberry release. Very casual, very easy going, very appealing, and most of all different enough to establish itself.
    OVERALL:
I get a lovely mint and spicy/prickly rosemary mixed with some aquatic notes infused with some violet and a juicy oak moss.
—Nothing new. In fact, it’s ‘similar’ to Varvatos Artisan Acqua/Artisan Blu, however this is just so much better. It has more dimension and overall depth.
Also, the last thing I want to add is that this is my go-to bedtime scent. I’ve hardly ever worn frags to bed, but for the past 3 nights I have wanted to wear this. This is somehow incredibly comforting and uplifting. I love wearing this stuff before I fall asleep.

@Coffe_Girl Getting stalked isn´t always a bad thing, obviously 🙂 I have just purchased this frag, but it have not arrived yet. Is there any frag out there that you can compare Indigo to?

Another girl and I were literally stalking a guy at the mall who was wearing this fragrance…I wanted to know what it was so bad! This perfume made the dude wearing it incredibly attractive to me for some reason, maybe because he looked so clean and refined when he walked past…classic masculinity.
This definitely made all the ladies turn their heads that day haha

Excellent flanker. Minty, fresh, woodsy aquatic done right. Smells VERY natual, as if you crushed up spearmint in your hands that you just picked. No need to over explain. Just imagine yourself on a warm summer day wearing a crisp, white, long sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up. Nice pair of chino shorts and a pair of tan driving shoes. You are dressed nicely, but not casual, and not dressed up. That comfortable but well put together middle ground.
You are outside at an outdoor restaurant on the water. Nice breeze, nice view, relaxed. Drink in hand, a vodka and tonic, a mojito, feeling relaxed, confident, soaking in the vibe, the outdoors, and your drink. You aura is calm, confident, smartly dressed.
That is mr burberry indigo. An outstanding summer creation that surpsasses its criminally hated and undervalued flankers. This might be their best fragrance made, period.

Mr. Burberry Indigo is a green summertime masterpiece that smells natural and fresh. I do not mean masterpiece in terms of creativity but masterpiece in the sense that it perfectly executes the concept of a masculine fresh scent without resorting to generic aquatic notes as many others before it have done.
Indigo is undeniably masculine and earthy with realistic mint taking center stage amongst a backdrop of citrus accords. The scent is linear for the most part but that realistic mint note does die down a bit in the dry-down. All in all, a very easy masculine scent to wear. Performance is nothing to write home about but it certainly is in line with majority of modern designer releases.
Indigo is reminiscent of Dior Aqua Fahrenheit. If you enjoy scents similar to Aqua Fahrenheit, Indigo is a must-try. Indigo takes a completely different path than it’s predecessors so try Indigo even if you were not a fan of the original or the EDP.
Indigo is a solid warm weather release and in my opinion it deserves a 4/5 ☆ rating

Very green in a good way, too bad it says MR as it could be unisex

I get a major basil note in this one! But don’t see any basil in the note breakdown

Mint and rosemary (and I swear some basil is in there). I’m not sure if I like it because it is different, or because I think I can wear it. It is refreshing and could even pass for an essential oil of some sort.
I think this is a casual scent and even a comforting scent. It could possibly be an office scent too.
I don’t know if I will buy it at it’s current price though. When it gets under $30, I’ll give it another look.
I do appreciate the trend of using fewer ingredients and blending them well though. Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.

This is how I like my masculine fragrances, done right. Its smells DAMN good. Fresh and Spicy, not to heavy though. It last and projects. This will draw compliments. Its a good comeback for Burberry to get there sales back up. Its blended good for a Designer fragrance, couldn’t really pick up the litsed notes. Go get it, a good buy

Here’s a modern take on fougere.
Nice minty herbal fragrance. The mint is very pleasant and uplifting, rosemary gives it a bit of an edge – but still not being too sharp. Everything underlined with very real lemon and a little but of grapefruit and oakmoss in the background.
Fresh, light, quite sophisticated. Good choice for hot summer.
Quite nice addition from Burberry house.
    To me 6,5/10.

Nice addition to the Mr Burberry line. Very different from the EDT & EDP to my nose. I get mint and citrus with aquatic notes. There is a resemblance to Ralph Lauren Polo Blue as others have mentioned but this is by no means a copy.
I got 4 hours from 4 sprays today, Summer climate 24C , which is not great but it’s decent whilst it lasts and is a safe scent for lots of occasions.
It would be an 8 but performance is slightly lacking. Will test again in the colder months and see who it performs then…
    7/10

I blind bought this one. Smells great as a fresh herbal minty scent.perfect for the spring, more than summer because i think its too weak for the extreme heat. Reason being is that it sits well on the skin with low projection. In my country the heat is very high so in my opinion its better suited for spring. Performance is moderate in my opinion. Overall i give it 7/10

  14. :

I just sprayed some on my wrist and to me it smells 99.99% identical to Ralph Lauren’s Polo Blue EDP. Very potent citrus smell but not potent in the overpowering sense. Very fresh and perfect for a summer day. Can’t yet speak to longevity but if I had to pick between this and Blue EDP, I would choose indigo purely from a cost perspective; Indigo was going for like $108 CAD (for 100ml) approximately whereas I think I paid around $120-130 CAD for 100ml of Blue EDP.

No catastrophe here. A simple, but well done, refreshing aromatic minty & herbal green fragrance that doesn’t emphasize on citrus nor artificial musky dry down.
A beautiful, realistic mint in opening will progressively be joined by fresh herbal notes. Nothing dry, more of a freshly cut herbaceous bouquet found in your garden. It also has the merit of avoiding those common synthetic dry downs. Is it because master Kurkdjian is on board? Who knows. But if you take it for what it is, a casual, everyday summer fragrance… you might be in for a pleasant surprise! Longevity is good considering not many fragrances survives more than 5-6 hours under a scorching sun. This might also be pleasant & crisp under cooler weather.
Aside from the marine blue Burberry trench coat, this fragrance has nothing to do with blue or indigo. It might have been called… aromatic in green!
When a flanker becomes more interesting (to me) than both its predecessors.

Nothing new & expensive in India !

Mint and violet stood out the most to my nose. Very refreshing fragrance for warm months. I normally don’t like mint in a fragrance as it gives me the herbal vibe, but I like it here in Mr. Buberry Indigo, as it is smooth, kinda soothing, and works out well with other notes. Sillage and longevity are also great. Indigo is unique and nice as a semi formal frag for work, and for play. It is so much better and more sophisticated than Versace Eros EDT, IMO.

Incoming hate reviews. Looks like almost everyone hates “generic” fragrances nowadays. This is the fourth day of me trying Mr. Burberry Indigo. And I can say is that this fragrance is your typical freshie scent. Nothing compared to Mr. Burberry EDT or EDP. It’s safe, fresh and the mint man. The mint here is blended magnificently which made the scent really smells ohh so good! Pretty versatile perfume, though I would only wear this during casual/daytime. I do not see it wearing in super cold climates. Longevity is not the greatest about 3-4 hours on my skin. Projection is pretty good on the first hour mark. It projects strongly, but quickly dies down to skin or closer scent afterwards.
It is a safe blind buy for me. I really love the scent! Better than his two brothers(or cousins)! But the performance is quite lacking. It’s a new fragrance so it’s quite expensive. For now, I would prefer the cheaper Hollister Wave than this or better yet Dylan Blue. I would really love to give a high remark on this if only it performed better!

Oh dear, I have just bought a decent of this without knowing mint is one of the notes, I don’t like mint in frags at all so I hope the mint in this isn’t overpowering.

meh.Millenials will like it as its very generic and safe.

This has the Acqua Di Gio Profumo vibe. Smells terrible on paper, and is way better on skin, so give it a wear. Doesn’t project a lot.
All in all, it’s a nice perfume for summer evenings. Nothing groundbreaking and if you have Profumo, I wouldn’t advise to get this.

I love moss, mint, rosemary, amber and violet, not the best longevity, surely average longevity but very nice scent (too general statement) hahaha, perfect for summer, casual, and work. Some perfumes are close to this stuff, not exactly similar, but they can battling each others
Mint, Moss and Lemon are apparently dominant, very aromatic, very modern, nothing wow, just ordinary, but really really pleasant
I could imagine a handsome navy wearing this perfume on his graduation ceremony, fresh and breeze from the ocean.
Polo Blue RL EDP and EDT
    Bleu de Chanel EDP
    Dior Sauvage EDT
    Mr.Burberry EDT
    Calvin Klein Contradiction
    Hugo by Hugo Boss

Yet another fragrance doomed to catch hell from almost everyone on this site. It’s going to get bashed for smelling too trendy, generic, cheap, so on and so forth. Thing is, does anyone like anything around here? Every release gets treated like garbage. And yet you find that the product sells like crazy once you start shopping. So…this thing is great. Yes, it may feel like it’s part of a trend in perfumery. Luckily it’s not another sweet fruity invictus thing. It’s not for the party going 20something (at least not to my nose), and while I haven’t had a chance to wear for a long time, i’m not expecting long life from it. IN my case that is true of most fragrances. So how does it smell? Damn good. get your nose on it if you can sample it and you will probably like it. The opening feels mature without feeling old, which is a great achievement when you’re talking oakmoss. violet seems to come to the surface pretty soon and while I’m not a huge fan of violate, i find it pleasant. Reminds me of the violet note used in Bvlgari man. It’s strong and almost spicy. Overall I find this a pleasant release, and thanks to a great sales promotion at Macy’s I was able to get 1450 for a good price in terms of $/ml. It’s still cool in the northeastern USA and for me this is perfect. Looking forward to see what happens at when it warms up. cheers and enjoy your fragrances…even if everyone on this site tells you it’s crap. It’s yours, on your skin, and if it makes you happy, it’s worth wearing!

2nd wearing when the weather warmed up. A few complements. So far the only con is that stores only have the large 150 ml bottle. I don’t know if the smaller ones sold out the smaller bottles or that’s the only one available outside of Burberry stores.

First impression: Acqua di Gio Profumo in the opening. That rosemary mixed wth lemon its very fresh and green. Then i smell a little bit of mint and oakmoss but the fragrance seems to die very quickly. It starts to smell like others. Boss Night, Be different and Cool Water came to my head. Might be wrong but it seems a mix of all these fresh scents.

Tried it out at a local Macy’s. Great opening but light. If you are in an office setting, it shouldn’t be a problem. Will have to see if it gets me complements

Call it Mr. Boring. Mr. Boring Blue, instead of Indigo. Because you feel sad and blue when you encounter another mediocre fragrance from Burberry, especially the one signed by Mr. Kurkdjian.

    “blue’s overdone…let’s go with indigo.”
    “what a brilliant idea!”

Sounds like a nice fresh fragrance. I hope it perfoms. Burberry has too many less than moderate to weak frags related to performance

Tried this. Nothing common with the previous versions.
A simple combination of modern citruses and mint. Smells natural, but cheap and ordinary.
