Modern Muse Le Rouge Estée Lauder for women of Estée Lauder

Share:

Description

Estée Lauder is launching a new female fragrance Modern Muse Le Rouge inspired by the glamourous and more provocative side of Modern Muse. It follows two charming fragrances Modern Muse (2013) and Modern Muse Chic (2014) making a passionate twist to the collection. “Le Rouge reflects the woman who is confident and sexy. She never goes unnoticed. It’s all about her signature color of red—which embodies her style, attitude and undeniably powerful effect.

The Le Rouge Muse dares to inspire. She commands a reaction with her boldness, timeless glamour and enviable confidence. Her style and presence always make an impression. She is bold, daring and sexy; she’s a provocative inspiration to others.”—Estée Lauder press release.

A Fruity Floral Oriental scent, Modern Muse Le Rouge is a sexy contrast of rich roses awakened by ripe fruits with a velvet cream accord that captures the drama of this muse’s personality. The innovative “dual-impression” fragrance structure allows women to experience the fragrance through two contrasting accords:

Ripened Roses Accord: This facet of the fragrance captures the undeniable boldness of the Le Rouge woman and the color. Juicy fruitiness of Bourgeon de Cassis and Raspberry, contrasted with vibrant Pink Pepper and Saffron blends with the floral richness of Bulgarian Rose and the petally freshness of Rose Centifolia.

Velvet Cream Accord: Her sexy, provocative sense of style and dramatic presence are expressed through an addictive blend of full-bodied Madagascar Vanilla and the textural muskiness of Ambrette, refined with earthy, seductive Vetiver and Patchouli—and freshened with the lush femininity of Magnolia Flower and Jasmine.

“It was not just about capturing the scent of red, it was about capturing a state of mind, a vibrant, dramatic attitude,” says Karyn Khoury, Senior Vice President, Corporate Fragrance Development Worldwide, The Estée Lauder Companies. “This woman inspires others through her unwavering confidence, glamour and sophistication. She lives her life to be noticed—and every ingredient in this scent was carefully selected to reflect that.”

Kendall Jenner, the ultimate fashion and social media muse, debuts in her first-ever fragrance campaign. The campaign was developed by Estée Lauder’s in-house Creative team, led by Global Creative Director, Richard Ferretti in collaboration with internationally renowned advertising and branding agency LLOYD&CO. The TV commercial, directed by award-winning Music Video Director, Jonas Akerlund, brings to life the power of Modern Muse Le Rouge as Kendall seamlessly alters the world around her one step at a time. The print campaign, photographed by Mikael Janssen, captures her undeniable glamour, power and magnetic persona. Both the TV and the print campaign were shot in Los Angeles

ESTEE LAUDER MODERN MUSE LE ROUGE is available as 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum, followed by Modern Muse Le Rouge shimmering body lotion. Estee Lauder is also launching a limited make-up collection that includes Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in Envious, Red Ego and Carnal; Pure Color Nail Lacquer in Envious; Pure Color Envy Sculpting Eyeshadow Palette in Pink Mink. “No look is complete without the perfect eye, red lip and nail. This “capsule” collection of bold and provocative shades ensures you never go unnoticed. Inspired by the iconic Le Rouge fragrance bottle, these must-have pieces are packaged in the same high-impact red hue.”

Elements of glamour and sophistication are threaded throughout the Modern Muse Le Rouge design. In shape: a strong, tall luxurious glass bottle with soft rounded sides. In Style: a show-stopping red, spray-through cap adorns the bottle. The cap is inspired by the iconic bow on Estée Lauder’s first fragrance, Youth Dew. In attitude: a bold visual representation of modern femininity. Together, these contrasts create an intense visual statement that is an important part of the Modern Muse Le Rouge experience.

Modern Muse Le Rouge Shimmering Body Lotion: A lightweight, luxurious lotion that quickly absorbs into skin. This hydrating formula replenishes moisture leaving skin with a radiant sheen and silky smooth feel. Richly scented with the Le Rouge fragrance, it can be worn alone or as a complement to the Eau de Parfum.
Modern Muse Le Rouge was launched in 2015.

This is pleasant and womanly. It is complex and quite beautiful. However, it is not me. I love the Modern Muse Nuit so it may be that different people will like and dislike different perfumes in this line. I am excited to try the original as well as the Chic versions.
What is off-putting to me is the sour note. It stands out against the rose, which is beautiful, and the sweeter, muskier base. I do not get any vanilla in this one.
It makes me think of a tart apple, which is not my favorite.

Not sure if it is the pink pepper or the musk but there is a soapy-ness about it and so sadly I dont care for it much..I am one of those that sneezes just by walking past the laundry soap isle in a store so maybe it is just me.

for me to like rose fragrances it has to be done the certain way, without all the medicinal overtones that populate many rose fragrances. Alas, this one is a no. Spicy peppery rose is what I get that has that medicinal feeling. Definitely a no for me

This is a DIAMOND!! I just tried it few days ago at Ulta. I can’t believe i missed it. This is a rose explosion without the heavy or old fashioned vibe that rose tend to be sometimes. This is a well crafted masterpiece. very suitable for medern classic perfume lovers.

Gucci guiltys black twin. Smells identical. The raspberry and pink pepper in both are spot on. Not a fan of fruity fragrances but these are so mature and sexy. When it’s done right I’m sold. 🙂

Sweet raspberry infused in peppery cosmetic rose with patchouli. This part is lovely. The dry down is white florals and is “perfumey” lasts half the day and the lipstick patch opening projects enough for you to smell it when you talk with your hands

    Pleasant surprise find.
Rose, vanilla and spice with patchouli keeping it all last together. I think of a spicy lipstick scent. Fashionable and fun.
I like it. Edgy, classy, can be worn for both day and/or evening. Modern Girl style!
For some reason I don’t see KJ wearing it as in a promo, more like Kate Moss type, 90’s style connection.

This gave me a headache, and smelled similar to Flowerbomb to me. Not any rose, mainly vanilla and some over sweet floral. I will be returning.

I got a sample in my stash that I never tried, possibly because I neither like Kendall Jenner nor the bottles of the whole Muse series (that ugly bow!) and for some reason I was convinced that it would be a very sweet gourmand scent.
But I tried it today and, surprise surprise, it smells exactly like a modern and more wearable version of Tocade de Rochas. A beautiful rose and amber, warm, a little bit powdery and undeniably sexy in a subtle way.
I have never smelled the new reformulation of Tocade and I wanted to buy it because to me it was one of the most sexy scents to wear in winter.
So happy to have found one of my old loves in a new fragrance!
But I still need to go over KJ and the ugly bow.

I have the epd and really like it, it’s a beautiful floral. Funny how I get lychee from it, lychee and rose in the background. The first time I sprayed it at the fragrance counter I thought Lychee! Still do and yet there’s no lychee in it. I don’t get cherries like some other folks do.

    DANG……
If this was a painting, Modern Muse Le Rouge would be Klimt’s. “The Kiss”, if it was an actress, Catherine Zeta Jones or Rita Hayworth, if it was a song, this scent would be the Commodores, “Brick House”, if it was a car, Modern Muse Le Rouge would be a 1976 El Dorado Coupe convertable, red, naturally.
You get the point of course. Estee’ Lauder might have updated Cinnabar with a little more rose and fruit than spice but it has the same effect. This is best worn during the winter-Chic and the original incarnation for Summer and Spring, respectively-the sillage and staying power is very strong. At first, you get the roses and berries with base notes of ambrette, musk and patchouli pulling the saffron along for the ride. For some reason, the jasmine and the magnolia are lost on me but it is just as well, there is no room with such a sensual and warm scent.
Here is a fun game. When you spray it on, try to think of as many adjectives that start with , “R” that best describe this luscious little number. Roses, redolent, ripe, Reubenesque, rich, REALLY, REALLY SEXY!!!!!

This was a tj maxx blind buy win for me. Could not pass on 3.4 oz of Estee Lauder for $40. The scent is not the rose scent I expected however I was pleasantly surprised by it. It is not a fresh rose. It is a dried flower type reminiscent of potpourri and very soft. It sometimes reminds me of Christmas trees in the drydown. The hint of berry gives it life without coming off too fruity. These are not things I would typically reach for but somehow this one pulls it off. Longetivity is excellent and you don’t need to spray a lot. Excellent quality scent and a lovely fall/ winter interpretation of rose. If you are looking for a cold weather scent that isn’t gormound try this. I think this is perfect for the winter holidays.

Modern Muse Le Rouge opens with a burst of fresh berry notes and a rose that balances juicy and powdery aspects. It developes a warm, deep, fruity kind of sweetness. I also get a lot of patchouli, which is clean and not very earthy in this perfume. The vanilla blends with the raspberry to a softly sweet accord in the background and isn’t dominant on my skin.
It does smell red, or even deep pink, very feminine, though not cloying or sugary.
For some reason Le Rouge didn’t make a big impression on me when I tried it in warmer weather a few months ago. Maybe it was just a bad nose day, hormones or whatever, but when I first tried it I didn’t get much patchouli and more sour red currant, and it didn’t last as long on me.
Compared to its flanker, Modern Muse Le Rouge Gloss, which I own, Le Rouge is lighter and less spicy and misses the leather note. While it’s closer to Modern Muse EDP than Gloss is, it’s still not very similar to the original. Both Rouge flankers are fruity rose scents while MM is white floral and musky.
Overall this is a nice fragrance, I’m glad I gave it a second chance, but I think MMLR Gloss is the better choice, and they’re similar enough to choose only one.

It is a musk bomb and sweet perfume. I bought my 18 years old sister and already she’s selected it and she loves it. I think it is a girly perfume. Longetivy and sillage is moderate. But it doesnt worth its price.

Modern Muse Le Rouge is the best of the all the Modern Muse range. It’s a beautiful creamy modern rose based scent mixed with raspberry. I think it is classy and lovely. I love it among all the Modern Muse flankers and is nothing like the jasmine based Modern Muse. Longevity and sillage is moderate on my skin.

I am so stupid for not picking up the 1oz bottle for $25 they had at Ross yesterday. I wanted to wait til next payday and was only interested in big size economical bottles not small teaser bottles. omg one of the biggest mistakes I made! Then I was like forget it went back somebody swiped it up! Damnit!

Though it does not last very long (2-3 hours on me at least), this is the favorite fragrance I own. I have Modern Muse, Modern Muse Chic, and this one and it is far better than the other two.
Characterized by a warm, fruity-floral scent, it verges on an oriental perfume. It is deep, spicy, and full of life. Wearing it I am taken back to the summer nights of my middle school years in Alabama when the air is hot and carries the smell of magnolia and roses on its tail.
While it is not very strong, someone next to me can smell and I have received many complements. As a younger (collage aged) woman, I do not find the fragrance stuffy like first Modern Muse, but rather vibrant, vivacious, and energetic while being almost delicate at the same time.
It is my signature scent for almost two years not, and it will be until I can find something that represents me better.

Rose, pomegranate, vanilla, saffron. The saffron note in this composition takes me to the Middle East, and to India, Pakistan. Overall a soft, rich exotic rose that’s comforting and mellow in the drydown.

I purchased this expecting it to be a sometimes, casual perfume. I work with 82 women and one day smelt a beautiful familiar scent on another Co- worker then discovered it was this perfume. We both get endless compliments with this scent from the other ladies. When I wear this I get lost in the rosy, berry mist it creates around me it’s so good I’ve already used half the bottle in a couple of months and will definitely be re purchasing. It’s not sweet at all more alluring and mysterious. I find it to be unique. It has great lasting power too.

Well *this* is odd. I love all these ingredients. In fact, I found this fragrance by using the fragrantica fragrance finder and putting in some of the key notes of my favourite, Rosine’s Ballerina #1, and I like quite childlike fragrances like the Ariana Grande ones, which I’ve bought for my daughters and sometimes secretly steal when they’ve left for school. For me the notes combine to give an almost licoricey vibe, like in the liquorice heavy Lolita Lempicka, which I *also* always loved. And yet, something about this catches in my throat and makes me gag slightly. The description makes it sound like something I’d love, I’m fine with patchouli in other fragrances, I cannot understand my reaction to it. When I breathe in hard, the raspberry is somewhat crisp and soothing, but then I get to the deeper notes and again, it catches in my throat. What a shame!

I am absolutely hooked on scents that specify a particular flower. For example, this (and rose as the flower). Rose is one of my favourite florals, and to have it so rosey (and the raspberry is incredible too) just makes it all the more delicious. Not many fragrances come across as both soft, and sexy at the same time, but this one does, and it does it beautifully. Sexy and still beautifully classy. Hopefully It’s a keeper!

I just found a bag of samples that someone sent me in a swap recently. Unfortunately, I don’t remember who that package was from, but there were some really nice samples in there!
Anyway, I am currently in a swap for the original modern muse even though I’ve never tested it. If the original is as great as this flanker is, I’ll be one happy girl!
This kind of reminds me of Armani diamonds. The way the raspberry is in le rouge anyway. I detected raspberry and rose on the initial spray. Love raspberry and I really like rose. Now that it’s dried down it’s a very soft and delicate rose with raspberry and pink pepper, on me. This a really nice scent that i would’ve never tested and now I’ll most likely buy a bottle!

Modern Muse la Rouge really blooms in warm weather. It’s absolute perfection for hot days.
MMLR has the perfect mix of creamy florals, fresh fruits and sweet greens.
The rose is the star and she’s a rich one, lending a solid heart and powering through till the last whiff. But she isn’t alone, she is decorated by tart yet sweet berries, who give her a fresh, late summertime aura. The base is a faint but earthy patchouli and yummy vanilla and musk mallow (which I find to be a delectable and unique addition)
I can’t stop sniffing my wrist. And my man won’t stop saying “mmmm that smells so good”
It really makes me feel beautiful 🙂
    ***
Sillage is big for the first hour or so then it’s moderate.
Longevity is about 6 solid hours.

I gave it a try but it ended up being a scrubber for me. It started off nice, the top notes being cozy for fall I would say, not a summer light scent. But as with two other fruitchoulis that act so similarly on me in the dry down (Jimi Choo and Flowerbomb), it turns into a cheap perfumey nauseating linger that I have to wash off.

I have this on today and it’s so lovely that I can’t stop smelling my wrists. Roses that smell like Turkish Delight.

  29. :

Modern Muse Le Rouge opens tangy red fruit and with a hint of spice, which gives way primarily to rose. It’s nice, but a bit “been there done that,” so I prefer the similar but more interesting Le Rouge Gloss.

I received a sample of this and I wish I had never tried it on. At first, I thought it was pleasant enough, but then the rose scent started to come through and I began to sneeze. I’m not allergic to any fragrances that I know of, but this just irritated me. When I got to my mom’s house, she too started sneezing and I wondered if it was because of my perfume because it was shortly after I walked in. And to make matters worse, her dog sat with me and then even the DOG started sneezing. This perfume is too overpowering for me. Of course I washed my arm where I had sprayed it, but it still seemed to linger for several hours.

Softly sweet, gently spicey and delicately rosey. I wasn’t sure about getting this as people have said it’s like dkny my ny, which I already own, but not on my skin in anyway shape or form. Nothing alike on me. Which is great. I wish I’d bought this sooner. It’s such a beautiful version of rose

  32. :

    5 out of 5

I was pleasantly surprised by this scent.
I have Modern Muse and Modern Muse Chic and enjoy them both. I never thought to try this one as I’m not a huge fan of rose scents. However, I did finally give this a try earlier in the week.
I actually like it very much. I think it’s lovely even if it’s probably not for me. It’s complex enough to hold my interest- and it’s not at all linear. The red fruit are a nice contra to the rose.
I don’t see much resemblance to the other MM scents except for the fact that this one too has that two-faceted personality.
All in all an uplilfting and joyous scent. Full bodied in the way that many EL scents are. If you like rose scents give this a try.

I agree with the reviewer who said it’s kind of a rosey version of pleasures by Estée Lauder. It’s pleasant and nice enough. Good for office setting.

  34. :

i have a full bottle of this
this one is very tricky because the smell of it changes with seasons
on spring days, it smells like sour berries and sugary roses
on summer days this is totally unberable, a disaster
on fall, hmm. i think too sweet
so perfect for winter days, sweet but not like Britnety’s sweet, it’s like candy of good qualities.
    and the rose, definitely there,
for me i like red current much more than raspberry, so this one really comforts me for the absense of the sour smell from the raspberry
but in all, i shall say this one is not worth the price, the smell is good and classy but not that unique and special

I was gifted this for my birthday and I’m grateful, even though to be honest, I had asked for Dior Addict or Poison. It’s okay. I’ve worn this before and reviewed it. It’s pleasant, rosy. Nothing challenging or difficult to wear, but it isn’t interesting, either. I appreciate the thought and I’m sure there will be social occasions I will want to wear it.

  36. :

My mother bought this but decided that it was “too youthful” for herself so she gave it to me. The irony is that this reminds me of a patchouli version of my late grandmother’s perfume. I wore it a few times but I can’t get over the red current, vanilla, musk and patchouli combo. It is very cloying on me and gave me a headache the fist time I wore it.

I received a 4mil mini of modern muse le rouge in a makeup pack of ester Lauder.I was very happy to see it has spray unlike most of other mini perfumes
Modern muse le rouge has nothing to do with modern muse and modern muse chic.it reminded me lanvin Jeanne rose at first but they go to different paths after half an hour.it has the same tart and sweet, juicy fruity(red current and raspberry) opening,I can also find a trace of saffron(because I know it’s there)but very soon it becomes less juicy and I can pickup pink pepper,a hint of patchouli florals(mostly rose)
Rose and berryish fruits are the main players hear;spices and woody notes add a bit of charm to make it more complex than a simple fruityfloral.drydown, which is my favotite part,is a musky raspberry rose grounded by a touch of woody warmth.it has also lip gloss vibe, but not too much of it
I can’t judge it’s longevity and sillage yet but it doesn’t seem to be as long lasting as original modern muse. It’s wearable year round, both days and nights and although I don’t love it as much as her sisters,I may need a bigger bottle(if I find a 50mil tester bottle)since I find it’s raspberry-rosey-musky drydown divine and my man likes it on me

This is one of the most capricious fragrances of the family: it starts light and airy, develops into a clean complex scent and dries down, leaving a plastic feeling of something artificially oriental. Definitely an interesting scent, but not sure I’m in the mood for such unpredictable fragrances. I blame saffron and vetiver. This fragrance is much less of an attention catcher than its successor Le Rouge Gloss.

  40. :

    3 out of 5

It’s almost the same as Fearless by Victoria’s Secret. This one is more balmy and thick, the other one by Vs is a little bit more juicy and jammy. The drydown is the same, I’ve asked many people and they don’t see the difference.

I wrote a somewhat negative review on this fragrance over a year ago, but since then I have changed my mind on Modern Muse Le Rouge – I quite like it now!
I don’t feel woozy when I wear this, which was a major downfall before, and am now able to enjoy this sweet, rosy, feminine fragrance year ’round. Strangers and friends fawn over how good I smell when I wear it, which was partly why I came around to it and forced my head to become accustomed to the scent. It is now one of my “easier” fragrances to wear. Yep, I am easily swayed by compliments 😉
Like I mentioned below, this fragrance has no lasting power. For two hours it surrounds me and projects and then it’s gone! It’s bizarre. Gentle reapplication throughout the night keeps me smelling lovely. I’m glad I bought a full bottle of this.

This is nice. It was gifted to me, my mom loves Estee Lauder so over the years I have been gifted Pleasures, Beautiful, etc. This falls into that group of popular, vaguely sweet, department store perfume. I wear it seldom, when I have a meeting, or some other work function. it’s not very unique to me and I do love Estee Lauder classics like Magie Noire and Youth Dew, but it’s just a little too fruity/floral for me. The sillage is nice and it does project and last, so for the person who loves fruity florals, this might be right up your alley!

  43. :

Wow, it’s intense like Armani Si edp.
First spray I was like f$&k yeah!
I can’t pick the notes, just what I’ve smelled before and find similar to.
Powdery fruit, sour in background, like an edge, something sweet,
Just sprayed so will add a more coherent piece later
    EDIT
ok, there’s a middle, like a mechanical bit in between some living natural thing, a layer, tobacco-y plastic….?? Among fruity goings on…..What’s it doing….. hmmm
    EDIT
oooh you know what, that metallic thing that Armani gioia Essenza has, it’s like that but layers with fruity something, the vinyl or tobacco causes a ‘snag’ on the fruit scents…

red is the perfect color for this juice, is fresh and fruity really lovely.
not signature worthy IMHO but i am really enjoying this at the moment so good i have big hopes for rouge gloss i hope is good !

It smells like the rosey version of estee Lauder’s “pleasures” which is great cuz I love the smell of roses. It’s soft and powdery. It’s not as young and strong as I thought it was going to be. It’s a fragrance for the more mature woman.

  46. :

    5 out of 5

Red berries, rose and Raspberry is the opening of this lovely fragrance and at first I thought I would not like it as it seemed to be a straight floral fruity which is not my preference but after a few minutes the pink pepper and warm patchouli make an appearance lending it a slightly spicy edge. This lasts for hours and hours and then finally the jasmine and musk come into play. I do not get any vanilla but there is something woody in the drydown even though there are no woods listed.
It is sweet but with a spicy overlay which keeps it from being very ‘girly’and gives it a more mature edge.
I don’t think it’s anything groundbreaking but I will definitely finish the bottle. Longevity and sillage are good on me but I do use it with the body lotion. It is for me, a daytime scent and as said before, it certainly smells ‘red’

  47. :

This is really pretty! I just received a mini in a swap today and its really lovely. It leaves a little cloud of perfumed berries, roses and soft spices trailing from my wrists.
The pepper in this and the general composition reminds me of Untold a bit….another Elisabeth Arden modern yet fruity and uplifting scent. I don’t get to try many EA fragrances but so far I am a fan :). I know that this company also produces celebrity scents, some I love, some I hate (like with any fume) but the ones I have smelled from their own line just strike me as really classy and timeless. Something I would apply freshly after a shower before slicking on red lipstick, on my way to work in a city, or going to a birthday or other event. This isn’t overly sexy or dramatic. What it is however is sophisticated without being over-the-top. And really pretty. Its sweet without being cloying and the pepper gives it just enough kick to avoid being one of those dime-a-dozen fruitcholis I see everywhere.
I love Untold for the amber and gardenia notes, however the cassis left a “pencil shavings” scent a lot of people would mention. This one does not. I would say it would be absolutely safe for a blind buy or a gift. This is one I feel I am wearing, not that it is “wearing me” which can be nice. I’ll update this at the end of tonight on longevity.

Velvety, creamy roses and ripe red fruits… mmm this is what I got from a magazine strip. Smells fruity but in a tart way unlike most sugary fruitchoulis. The contrast of the creme accord smells luxurious. A gift I’d happily accept for Christmas but probably wouldn’t buy for myself; as it’s just not unique enough for me. Very nice. Definitely smells “red” ❤

I got a free mini of this scent when I bought Youth Dew bath oil because above 30 USD purchase they give you a swag bag of mini products to try because Estee Lauder’s customer service is A+!
    On to the scent,
This is not a perfume I would have ever bought if I had not received a free mini of it. However, it is nice! I have smelled it on other women a couple of times and felt compelled to ask them what they were wearing, and it was this one.
This perfume is very on trend. I feel like the fruitchouli trend with every big new release gets sweeter and thicker, more vanillic and more suffocating. HOWEVER, unlike most of those, I like this one. It is lighter by omitting heavy notes like caramel and syrupy notes in favor of tart red berries. The rose is astringent and adds a nice freshness. I like the pink peppery slight spiciness too.
Again, I would never buy this. It’s synthetic and I don’t really care for the fruitchouli trend other than Angel by Thierry Mugler. However, of the many that are out there I really appreciate the relative freshness and strong rose note of this one. It’s girly and projects well.

I had to buy this after getting one of those scratch-n-sniff sample sheets in a catalog. I loved this for about the first month or two, but then the fragrance seemed to change, drastically. It became very synthetic to me after having it for a couple of months. I bought this in a department store maybe a month or two after it was released to stores, so I know it was legit and not a fake or anything. But I was disappointed that for whatever reason, this happened. And I store my fragrances in their original boxes out of sunlight, so I have no idea what happened.
Up until then it was very sophisticated smelling yet not ‘snobby’ to me, not overpowering, yet quite bold. IMHO this is probably not for shy women. Definitely for the confidant woman, or one who wants to feel confidant. I just wish it lasted for me for more than a couple months before changing into something not even close to what it was when I first purchased. I store my bottles in their original packaging in comfortable room controlled temperature, out of sunlight, so I have no idea what happened for me with this. If it stayed true to the scent it was when I first bought it, I would definitely repurchase. As it is, I am considering giving it to a friend. I really had hopes for this being a Fall scent for me, but alas, it changed too much for that to happen.

Well, you see all of these sparkling red notes in the chart? You will smell them!!!
The name could not be better for this fragrance because this is how I expect ‘Rouge’ named fragrances to smell like. Fruity sweet & sour raspberry with delicate rose that is not bitter at all layered with soft jasmine that does not overpower the fragrance while the ambrette (musk mallow) and vanilla appear as special guests in the dry down to add a hint of creaminess and femininity.
This fragrance is a perfect example of well-blended notes, no note comes to the surface stronger than the other. I love it, and this is definitely my favourite Modern Muse flanker!
    Seasons: Spring/Summer/Fall
    Longevity: 8+ hours
    Projection: Good

One of the few modern frags that I can wear b/c it isn’t overwhelming or too in your face. I can not wear anything with musk in it, so this fits the bill nicely. Very light and inoffensive…sweet with a gentle rose and berry mix (but not too sweet like summer Escadas), with a gentle vanilla dry down. Lasts subtly for 8 hours, and is so light and close to the skin that it won’t disturb others or those sensitive to fragrances. I am quite enjoying it and look forward to wearing it daily. Yum!

This perfume smells like pure sophistication and elegance. i knew i had to purchase it straight away. It makes me think of a prim, polished lady who is confident and sexy.
however am i the only one who feels like it smells exactly like Giorgio Armanis Si up until the base notes. i purchased Si on holiday and later noticed the similarities. Nevertheless, i adore both for fall and winter. x

Where is the time that Estée Lauder came out with interesting, new fragrances? They just want to sell their name and advertisement, they don’t care how it smells as long as it sells. Smelled last creations a couple of times and can’t even remember them. Boring…

Le Rouge smells of rose sweetened by berries and spiced ever so slightly with undertones of patchouli and pepper. It belongs on a young, stylishly dressed woman. Unfortunately there is nothing unique about it. At best it reminds me of Bvlgari Rose Essentielle, which I have worn for many years now. Rose Essentielle smells more luxurious in comparison. At worst Le Rouge reminds me of YSL Parisienne, another quality fragrance I owned but still found boring enough to discard before a move. I should be inspired enough to describe my impressions of a fragrance, good or bad, rather than name a few fragrances it reminds me of.

Someone in the office had sprayed on some perfume and it smelt so strong and scratchy, slightly dated and really strong… I did not know who sprayed or what perfume it was, however it was really annoying me. I wondered if it was a body spray as it smelt quite cheap and boring. The headache inducing rosey punch was making me want to sneeze and was so persistant it started giving me a headache.
A while later someone else walked it and asked what perfume it was they could smell. One of the girls said it was EL Rouge. Now I know what to avoid.it’s been a while since someone’s perfume was so offensive to me.

On the Estee Lauder consultant this fragrance smelled gorgeous, but on my skin it’s a little boring in that it doesn’t stand out as much as some other Estee Lauder fragrances I’ve enjoyed wearing. I used to have Avon Little Red Dress and it has many similarities to Modern Muse Le Rouge.

Le Rouge is a lovely little perfume. On my skin, this smells of roses, which smell rather “perfumey” and like silken hand cream, soft and sweet. In the background, there is the sour, fruity tang from the cranberries and the raspberries. My nose also picks up on something slightly waxen about composition, which reminds me of a creamy, modern lipstick, and echoes the thoughts of some other reviewers. As the smell fades, the rose becomes more velvety, before a sweet and slightly musky dry-down.
The dry-down is where this becomes disappointing for me; I find it to smell a little flat. The perfumer has placed all of the magic in the forefront of the perfume, in order to create an immediate sale when one is testing this in the shopping center. Although I don’t like it when perfumers do this, I still consider this to be a pretty scent.
I will say that I don’t get any patchouli from this and I am a patchouli hater. However, this note sometimes “appears” on my skin with further wears, so I will be thoroughly testing this before deciding if I should commit to a bottle. Sillage was soft to moderate; longevity was for about 5-6 hours.

i was looking so long for a parfume that stays for hours and i just found it. (7-8 hours)It s nice, clean and kind of warm and sexy, but i m not in love. I bought it with 30% off for the summer and i believe i can wear it and winter as well. Everyone says that smells good and it does, but i need that “something” for not to be bored !

Modern Muse Le Rouge is mainly rose and musk to me. There is a bit of fruit in the opening but fairly quickly the rose, and especially musk, shine through. Towards the end the musk recedes and leaves the rose with some clean soap. All in all not a bad scent, if you are fond of rose and musk and don’t mind a bit of soap.

It’s a good thing my mom loves this and I could pass it to her. There is something really harsh that gives me a headache. I like it but the red currant is just way too overpowering and hurts your nose…and your brain!

This is a fruity ans spicy perfume. It is really different from all of my other scents. I really like it. It is perfect for daytime wear because it is not too strong and I think it would not offend anyone around you. It has a good staying power as well. But it is not a wow perfume.

I swear I smell licorice in this!
It was super perfume-y at first, but calmed down…eventually.
I definitely get rose, currants, berries, and patchouli ~ done before, sure, but it’s nice.
It’s very, very strong ~ on me, it was a love child of Lolita Lempicka (the original gangster) and des Filles a la Vanille Je T’Aime, with hints of sour currant and extra rose.
I think the right person could rock this. That person isn’t me. It just didn’t sit right with my chemistry.

Mixed feelings. While I like it, there is nothing new or striking about it. I mean, a huuge gap between this one and Pleasure series, unfortunately. I can define this one as a pop fragrance for young women: nice, pleasant and not overwhelming. Not something extraordinary but ok, just ok. Floral, rosy and fruity. I see it suitable for spring. Not a re-purchase for me, not even something memorable, but a good quality fragrance with somewhat average structure.

It appears a bit like an “ultra light” version of female classics such as
