The current in-house perfumer Thierry Wasser wanted to recreate this fragrance in the form of a perfume. The new limited edition Météorites Le Parfum, which comes out before the summer of 2018, is described as a gentle, floral-fruity fragrance with a woody-musky background.

Top notes: bergamot, apple, green notes
Heart: rose, violet
Base: white musk, woody notes

Guerlain Météorites Le Parfum is available as a 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

Light powdery violet with some green notes. Actually, nothing special. I prefer violet powder in Insolence edp for sure.

Bought this out of grief – when I lose someone, historically I go a little crazy with the shopping. Saw this bottle, had a sniff, thought “Meh” but bought it anyway. Silly me. With repeated wearings, I have fallen in love – this is what you would get if Cartier Baiser Vole had a baby with Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Rosa Pop. Green crushed lily stems with powdered violet rose. What a lovely sweet perfume for a young person to start a collection with; and what a lovely sweet perfume for an old lady like me to wear in sadness, as it is fresh and uplifting.

I can’t smell the woodiness of this, for me it’s candy-sweet and hyper feminine, which is actually pretty nice for a daytime wear for someone outgoing and girly.

Not much to say here, as I own the pearls ( mine are in medium shade ) and they truly smell alike. Except the first note which is green Apple. But then immediately the violets take over. They aren’t green and fresh, they are candied and powdery , of course.
The bottle is quite charming , they is a sense of fairy tale here. While I am normally not a fan of violets , I really enjoy this. I love a good lipstick scent ( Like Lancome lipsticks ‘ scents for example ) or the smell or face powder like the pearls . The perfume is somehow warm, like skin. The juice has a really girly pink color. Gracious , slightly sweet , elegant . The base however is plain , a bit boring , musky, again , like clean, warm, human skin. Overall, higly recommended!
Edit. The silage and longevity are rather weak. You need to respray often. Then again, it isn’t overly expensive either, I paid $92 +tax for a 100ml bottle is Canada.

A gentler version of Insolence. Soft, floral, candied violet, powdery. I will enjoy using it but without great enthusiasm. I won’t replace it when it is gone.

I’m not sure what the Pearls or the original perfume smelled like so this review is purely based on my impression of this new version.
My first thought was that it reminded me a bit of Insolence EDT but MUCH lighter, which is perfect for me. I tested Insolence EDT and although I really liked the scent, it was just too much.
This is slightly sweet, slightly powdery, and slightly fresh. I can smell subtle hints of Granny Smith apples for the first hour or so and flowers throughout its life (most likely the violets). It dries down to a soft, creamy, delicate pearly scent. The sillage is soft and the longevity is moderate (sprayed it on about six hours ago and I can still smell it a bit on my arms).
It’s versatile – I feel I could wear this anywhere, anytime during any hot summer days. It could also be a nice cozy scent for a stay at home rainy day. It’s just so pretty, modern, soft, light, fresh. I love it!
And I think anyone at any age can absolutely enjoy this light-hearted scent.
EDIT: I just wanted to add that I think this is actually long lasting, on me anyway. One day, I sprayed it 2-3x on each arm around 7am, and by dinnertime, around 6pm, although then a skin scent, I could still clearly smell it!

I have never tested the original, early-00s version of Les Meteorites, so I can’t compare it to its present-day incarnation.
First, I have to say that this new version definitely smells like makeup, it’s got that powdery-lipsticky vibe, and in that sense it does exactly what it says on the tin (i.e. on the bottle – which is, by the way, very pretty). To me, this is a very diluted, kiddie-friendly offshot of the violet-bomb that is Insolence EDP. Obviously, it has nothing of Insolence’s monster sillage and longevity. I presume that the intended target group for this scent comprises teenage girls, or even preteens. I’m not exactly old, but I feel way too grown-up for this!

Powdery, inoffensive, delicate, peaceful. I smell an iris and violet combo. Its like it was meant for children, maybe.
In my opinion very likeable. I like it and find it Nice.

I’m falling for this new rendition of Meteorites! It’s updated and modern. No, it is not identical to the pearls, it’s less violetty and more fresh and light with the apple being very noticeable. It’s still very powdery, but not stuffy at all. It is perfect for summer. Fresh and clean on this very hot humid day. At first I wasn’t impressed at all as it’s very quiet and short lived. I’ve been testing it for 5 days now, and I’ve definitely fallen in love. Yes, it’s short lived, but it does last on clothing and is just addictive, especially if you like fresh and powdery scents. Simple, daytime scent that still expresses Guerlain quality. Ageless

Meteorites by Guerlain is super girly and quaint. It comes packaged in a stunning baby pink, rounded bottle with a rainbow-patterned fabric label. The scent is also something that would easily appeal to younger consumers.
The sales assistant at the Guerlain counter told me that a note of strawberry featured in this fragrance’s scent pyramid. I’m not actually sure if that’s true, she may be confusing the green apple accord for strawberry.
I have heard on various forums that this re-release of Meteorites smells nothing like the original, released way back in the year 2000. Perhaps the only thing they share in common is a dominant note of violet.
The violet note in Meteorites, (the new edition), is candied and playful as opposed to the traditional powdery interpretation. It smells nothing like Guerlain’s other well-known candied violet scent, Insolence, but in so saying those that like Insolence may also enjoy Meteorites.
Meteorites by Guerlain hasn’t blown my socks off, but I will take my hat off to yet another beautiful, quality scent from the house of Guerlain. The longevity was superb on my skin, lasting a decent seven hours. The projection is, however, quite soft and delicate. You may want to increase the number of sprays if you intend to wear this fragrance as an evening scent.
Meteorites would make a lovely gift for a young teenage girl. It’s not overtly loud or sensual in any way. It strikes me as a scent that conveys a sense of playfulness and innocence.

Fruity violet, more like limonade or camdies. Too litle of soft powder. For my taste, the rich and powerful sister Insolence is way better. I would like the dry down staying longer, but short lasting it is in general and in short ‘without big ambitions to be liked by simple frag lovers’. Take no offence, there are personalities loving simple scent, variety is a possitive thing.

Fresh, yet powdery, effortless, undemanding summer veil, creating fresh aura that never fades away of such a well done light violets and rose, mixed with green fruits, bordering with tart taste in your mouth.
I find it great for summer time, you get this creamy-clean, intriguing floral-fruity trail, that turns into woody deep sensation of forest, tree bark after the rain. Rejuvenating fragrance, which is not as simple as it seems. Thierry Wasser is a master to create fantastic aquarells in a world of fragrances.

I assumed that this scent is unlike the Météorites poudre from the reviews. It’s surprisingly close or my expectations is just really low. It’s just a tad too sweet and fruity version of the pearls. I wish it’s a lot more stronger and concentrated. I hope they’ll release an intense version.

Lovely fruity violet with quite a good longevity on my skin. Sillage not so good. It’s not as powdery as most other violet scents I own, this one is more fresh, green and fruity.

  15. :

Disappointment. Too weak for my taste. Weak sillage and longlasting.
Nice violet and interesting green notes, but *im crying* soooo weak!!!

Not quite what I expected, but lovely nonetheless!
I tested this in a crowded shopping mall, stressed after a long day at work and having a lot of worries weighing on my mind, but this made me feel peaceful and happy instantly the moment I sniffed it for the first time.
Nothing much to say about the notes – what you see is what you get. Not as powdery and “classic” scent as I would have thought (based on the fact I was thinking about the scent of Meteorites pearls). I can understand why some may feel letdown because of this, but if you test it without expectations, I bet you could be surprised – in a positive way.
This is a young and innocent perfume, something to remind you of the possibility of happy endings and treasures found at the end of the rainbow. That’s a reminder some of us could really use, in the midst of our earthly worries!
Lastly: on my skin this resembled the long discontinued Alexander McQueen fragrance, My Queen Light Mist. I wonder if anyone detected the same?

I think I expected more from this. Apple is very prominent, esp. on the beginning and then violet kicks in and it gradually turns into more powdery and also creamy fragrance, but you can still get apple in the back. To me this is more fruity than powdery. The longevity and sillage are very weak.

Like many other Guerlain fans, I was hoping Meteorites Le Parfum would be close to the original Meteorites EDT, which I never got to try. Unfortunately, Le Parfum barely resembles the scent of the makeup powder it was inspired by. I do own the Meteorites room spray, which is said to be somewhat similar to the original EDT. However, Le Parfum doesn’t evoke that either. It’s more like Guerlain’s version of Marc Jacobs Daisy or Chanel Chance Eau Tendre.
The scent opens with a bright, fresh apple, which lasts through wear time. The violet gradually becomes more prominent but the apple remains. It is fairly linear and almost entirely dissipates within 2 hours. Doesn’t seem very powdery, rather it has a very light and fresh feel. Sillage is poor, even with a generous application. You have to stick your nose quite close to your skin to be able to smell it.
Overall, Meteorites Le Parfum is a pretty and wearable scent, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t sorely disappointed. It’s a typical modern fruity fresh floral.
As someone who is crazy about perfumes evoking makeup, the best scent I have come across that is closest to Meteorites the powder is Chanel Misia EDT, which I believe is D/C. The EDP that replaced it is good too, but doesn’t capture the dryness as well as the EDT did.

This incarnation of Meteorites is a whimsical delight; but like other reviewers, I can’t help but be a bit wistful at the lack of longevity and sillage. I’m glad I picked it up just as it’s warming up outside, and can enjoy the lightness when I don’t want to feel weighed down in the heat. For me, this will definitely be a summer-only fragrance and I will likely apply with a heavy hand. Thanks to @Ayama for the very practical suggestion of making sure the spray hits my clothes as well for extra playtime.
I think too, the labeling is a bit deceiving if you aren’t playing close attention. “Le Parfum” is in the title, but is is also labeled as an eau de toilette, which it clearly is. If keep my expectations on the level, I don’t see this at all as a disappointment.
The notes to me are in an elegant balance, so even though Meteorites feels youthful and even playful, it still exudes class. I would never want this to replace any other Guerlain in my collection, but as an addition, I am very pleased.

The beautiful scent of Meteorites powder, but it’s creamy rather than being powdery. Stays close to skin. Similar with Chanel Chance Eau Tendre and Marc Jacobs Daisy; warm, creamy and has a nice sweetness of fruits. Uplifting and relaxing.

First off, this is not Meteorites as you know them. It’s definitely more apple than violets, but it is powdery. Not light and ethereal, however? Dense, heavy… unlike the original. I like it, but don’t love it. Might not be purchasing, hopefully someone who purchases the bottle I was planning to will be happier with it. Girly, but not like the original that had panache.

It’s a bit powdery with hints of green apples and violet water, pretty girlish-babyish. The green apples mixed with citrus in the opening is unusual and interesting, but very fleeting. A little bit sweet but not cloying. The bottle is beautiful. But I think it’s a waste of money.

Ethereal perfume of fairies and ballerinas)) Very sharp and bright citrusy apple opening calms down and reveals tender violet which transforms into a soft creamy-powdery violet base which sounds like Meteorites powder. Very light, airy perfume, reminds some pleasant skin care product.

As mentioned before, the apple note disappears quickly and the rest is lovely, but very weak. Almost zero longevity and silage on my skin Lasts much better and smells really pleasant on clothes and that’s how I will use this fragrance

Dry and powdery violets with a hint of sweetness, but not sticky or overpowering. The feared apple I notice only at the initial blast, it’s fresh and crisp, dries down very quickly to a lovely feminine scent. Love it

This smells exactly the same with the pearls but I can barely smell any violet in either of them. To me, violet-oriented perfumes are like Creed Love In Black or Annick Goutal La Violette but this one has nothing similar with those violet scents.
I can detect the apple scent in the very beginning, giving the perfume a hint of freshness, which is good because the scent is too girly and sweet after the freshness of apple fade.
Its sweetness is not that kind of candy-like sweet, but a dreamy, surreal, unrealistic kind of sweetness, just like you are indulging in a fantasy. I’d say this smells good and dreamy on the pearls but absolutely not suit for the perfume. I can’t even imagine what it’d be if I wear it. Probably those young dreamy sweet girls (I mean 16 and 17 or even younger) will like it but I am already a but too ‘old’ for it albeit I am just going to be 21.
I do not mean to offend anyone but I simply do not like sweet candy scents. If you do like it, that’s fine as scent is a subjective thing and I believe there is a link between preferences and personality. It really does not suit my characteristic but it is still a good smell especially on the pearls. It makes me happy when I smell it on the pearls during application.

I guess they had an Insolence Eau Legere formula but decided to release it under a new name. Dusty-fruity violet ionones and not much else in a super cute girly-Lego kind of bottle.

Disappointed, I thought it will be a re-launche of the Météorites from 2000…but alas …it is a room spray in a cute bottle.

Thierry Wasser certainly knows his way around violets because this is gorgeous! The apple note scared me when I’ve read about it but the expert noses who reviewed below me were right: The apple note is fleeting and only enhances the overall freshness. The opening is green, effervescent, and fresh, reminiscent of Annick Goutal Violette. I thought it was going to stay that way when it took a decidedly powdery turn. I detect only the violets here; delicate, almost magical, peaking in and out of existence as they float through my personal sphere like purple fairies. Even though I feel a subtle hint of musky woods as the hours go by, it’s still an ethereal violet perfume with no other discernable notes. The sillage is very close, as if it was made to enhance your skin, akin to the makeup line it was named after. The staying power is another evidence of Guerlain quality as it passed the overnight test with 12+ hours of solid presence on my skin. It seems like Meteorites wasn’t created to make a broad statement such as Mr. Wasser’s other violet-masterpiece Insolence EDP but rather to reward anyone who gets close to you. I believe it’s absolutely “full bottle worthy” if you’re looking for an understated, immaculate yet chic fragrance and especially if you adore violets like I do.

I’ve never gotten to test the original meteorites perfume, but I’m sniffing my Meteorites pearls next to Meteorites Le Parfum and they’re so close! Like moppety27 says there is a fruitiness in the opening but it really does dissipate after maybe 15 minutes. What remains is what I was hoping for in this perfume–violet, rose, and powdery goodness that come very close to the pearls. Delightful!

Today I tested both Meteorites side by side – the old version and the new one. I put so many hopes into this new release, because I Iove the original Meteorites to bits. All I can say, I am very sad and disappointed. Where is the bouquet of violets? Where is the cloud of powder of the old Meteorites? The new version is the echo of the old one. It’s more girly, more flowery, clean, even aquatic at some point, and the staying power on me is merely 3 hours.
I agree, this could be one of the Aqua Allegoria series.

Two testers arrived at Myer today, the main stock doesn’t arrive until May 13.
Everyone was nervous about the green apple opening, but worry not – it is extremely fleeting and doesn’t auger a fruit salad composition.
Better than expected lasting power, about 6 hours, violets galore but fresh – more substance than the Allegoria range.
Yes I will be getting a bottle when the stock becomes available. There’s no way I will be missing out on this one. It’s pretty, whimsical, ethereal, vintage smelling and incredibly feminine.

  33. :

    Powdery violets. Definitely.
Smooth, delicate, dusty, lightly sweet /with mineral & fruity undertone/, soft & subtle. The drydown is enriched with light musk & fresh green/herbal notes /like a spring grass covered with morning dew/- but it doesn´t change the whole impression of almost unimaginable violet subtlety.
I compared Meteorites Le Parfum to original Meteorites /2000/ – Meteorites Le Parfum is lighter & more powdery, not as intensive as the original one. I like them both – but Le Parfum reminds of the inimitable Meteorites Powder Pearls fragrance a lot, it´s a really authentic feeling.

Smells a bit like the Pearls , but not exact. I’m still in testing faze with this one, so if my opinion changes, I’ll update this review. It’s a soft spoken scent. Wearable, nothing original, or ground breaking. It’s a very safe scent. Easy to wear. I’d say office friendly, hospital friendly etc. it’s refreshing, light, aquatic. It’s not sweet by any means. It’s a very clean scent.
In the opening it’s a bit brash. It has a lot of citrus at first, and the apple. Sorta sharp but fairly quick it settles, and softens. You also get a lot of rose right off the bat. It’s not real powdery at all. The violet is apparent, but subtle. The Musk is there, yet it is not a dominant player through out the journey. In the dry down you get more violets, with some greens. It starts to soften more. The woody notes are there, but on me not a main player. The woody notes seem to bring a nice mingle to the floral, with a soothing earthy-ness.
It’s a very feminine scent. It’s bright, fresh, clean, uplifting. It’s sillage is average, as is longevity. This easily could had been put in the Aqua Allegoria line. The vibe is very reminiscent of it. If your looking for something pretty, and safe this will work. Xox
    Update…
It has a very smooth powder in the dry down. A creamy smooth.. It’s not fluffy, but very smooth. It’s lovely actually….
