Description

McQueen Eau de Parfum, takes a vintage spirit and gives it a stunningly modern architecture. The night-blooming floral notes are now mellow and subtly mysterious yet commanding as never before. They are rounded and opulent but never brash, allowing confident newness to assert itself.”

McQueen Eau de Parfum is a lighter, more powdery and more affordable version of the new fragrance, available from the end of July 2016 at Selfridges and available worldwide from September. Narcotic flowers of tuberose, jasmine and ylang-ylang, which dominate the heart of the composition, are refreshed by spicy accords of clove, black and pink pepper, on the woody base of vetiver.

McQueen Eau de Parfum is available in 30ml, 50ml and 75ml bottles.

Magnificent!I just love this EDP.. Although I do not think it is similar to Madonna Truth or Dare at all. I rather thing it is mix of old Dior Addict, NU &Kingdom without cumin notes, but there are some other sexy spices and tuberose. Elegant!

I just received this for my birthday and haven’t stopped wearing it since. My partner bought this for me – apparently after many hours of deliberation and sniffing of pieces of card in department stores – and declares this ‘the best perfume of all time’. Period. No retreat, no surrender. He has a close relationship with my ‘habit’ of perfume and has been exposed to many an expensive brew. Even so, for him, this was ‘it’, the one, the best. Happily, I agree that it really is quite something…
Heady, hearty tuberose with a smoky, dark and brooding feel. Slightly dangerous, very sexy, surprisingly gauzy and transparent. Envelopes the wearer in a subtle dark hue all day without ever being too obvious. Sillage and longevity are perfect for me – I want people to breathe me in, not choke on me. Heavenly concoction, dark structural potion, very McQueen… but that transparency makes it suitable for everyday wear when sprayed lightly. Signature worthy. I feel very spoiled indeed.

For a simple somewhat rosy fragrance for women this is quite dirty smelling
It is not disgusting, but a feminine fragrance with some earthiness and odd
I find this fragrance more masculine leaning and unpleasant overall
I don’t recommend this at all
If you want a daring, provocative casual fragrance this might be it

Got it as a blind buy, based on so many positive reviews and regret it! No similarity to Truth or Dare at all.. lots of spice and fades away in 5 minutes!! Disappointed

I got a sample of this “dirt-cheap” on Amazon, so thought I would give it a try. This is amazingly beautiful (and expensive). Sounds crazy, but it is like a combo of French Lilac Soap and Dentyne Gum. Floral and fresh, like a breath of fresh air. At this point, longevity and silage are unknown– but I am definitely going to save up for a full bottle!

I’ve been wearing this off and on for over a year – I first got it for Christmas 2016 and am on my third bottle. I also wear Truth or Dare and, like many other contributors, find there is a certain amount of overlap between the two. Truth or Dare projects much more assertively but they are both long-lasting. To me, Truth or Dare is the less sophisticated of the two but more overtly feminine. There’s less of a similarity with Rose Barbare, but they aren’t a million miles apart. It’s nothing like Knowing or Paris. Isn’t it interesting how one note can be interpreted in so many ways by perfumiers and can seem so different to so many people?

Truth or Dare? I only see a HINT of resemblance to that. Truth or Dare is really sweet, almost suffocatingly so. Mcqueen is VERY floral and nowhere near as sweet. As soon as I smelled it, I KNEW it had tuberose in it, my nose is very finely tuned to white florals and i either love or hate it. In this one, its leaning towards hate. Its very strong and sharp and cloying, buts only slightly sweet, it has a dryer “feel”. Tuberose and jasmine take center stage and basically hit you upside the head with their sweetness. I don’t care it for it myself but I can see why others like it because it doesn’t smell like anything else i tried recently.
One fragrance that it reminds me of is Salvatore Ferragamo F(i think that’s what its called). Clearly, perfume is very subjective because i see people describing it as “airy” and to me its very heavy lol

Such a fine scent! From all my tuberose perfumes I love this. Because on me this tuberose is still fresh but creamy, round, has nothing animalic in it, ylang keeps it tame. Spices aren’t quite obvious, which makes it a really delicate creation. There is a hint of flowery sweetnes, but there’s nothing gourmand about it. Drydown is mossy-vetiver-like. For a tuberose scent unbelievably comforting, one that won’t bother anyone.
    Lovely.

McQueen EDP was not an instant and immediate love after the very first spritz. My initial reaction was „maybe not“ when a floor manager at the local perfume department store took me to this scent. I was not swept off my feet by McQueen EDP at the first time but I kept sniffing the paper strip and thinking about this fragrance. I believe that this is not „a first impression counts“ scent. It needs a little time to shine and blossom on the skin.
This is not a flat fragrance and to me, it represents so many positive moods. McQueen EDP is comforting and sexy at the same time. It is velvety and sensual, soft and sweet. It is beautifully strong and long lasting, and I will be happy to wear it anytime and anywhere; well maybe not to the work.
Upon the first spray it might feel a bit peppery (and perhaps this is where it can be off putting for some) but within the next 10 or 15 minutes those gorgeous soothing flowers enter and from this phase McQueen EDP becomes very intriguing. It is simply a treat for my sense of smell; in fact it is a treat for my whole sense of well-being.
It feels very personal to me as it somehow manages to recall my childhood memories from the time when I used to go, as a little girl, to the hairdresser salon with my beloved Dad, who sadly passed away last year. Unfortunately, the grieving process can turn the precious memories into sadness, but this fragrance has a power to balance this out a little, and it soothes my soul. To me, it is a magical fragrance and it will always have a special place in my heart (therefore in my collection too).

I need this for autumn and winter!! It smells DIVINE! It fits my chemistry like a glove. Somehow it reminds me a little bit of Burberry London? I actually have a hard time describing this one.. It’s just beautiful. Floral, warm, round, kind of heavy and a little spicy and sweet. It has something distinctive about it. On me, sillage is heavy and longevity is moderate. This perfume is for women, not girls in my opinion!

Love the fragrance itself. It lingers on the brink of being indole but it isn’t. Instead, I get this intense cloud of florals that fills my nose with soft warmth. When I first sprayed it on my wrist, I expected it to be as brash and loud in projection as Victor and Rolf’s Flowerbomb. Imagine my surprise when I got zero projection! People have to stand really close to me to even get a whiff, and I use a generous ten to twelve spritzes. So don’t expect this one to fill the room, except when it’s a bedroom. It’s definitely sexy and should be used in that very setting.

This is exactly like Truth or Dare minus the creamy benzoin-vanilla aspect, which in my opinion, is what makes ToD so special. This has a prettier bottle but I’m perfectly happy with ToD.
Edit: after wearing it again, I’ve decided that this has a certain lightness to it (unlike ToD) that makes it equally sexy, but in a different way, and more suitable for daytime/professional/hot weather wear. I may buy a bottle after all, being the tuberose freak that I am.

Feminine, gentle, sexy and classy – all at the same time! Very beautiful bottle and juice itself, inoffensive yet distinctive. Floral and sweet. I just love this on a cloudy grey day to brighten me up.
Having said that, it is almost exactly the same as Madonna’s Truth or Dare, which by the way is a lot cheaper.

I like This fragrance a lot .From the moment i test it . Reminded me another perfum, then i checked fragrantica and there it was eas …thruth or dare !!!only Alexander is so much better. It is rounder, more fine, bettet quality. ToD is too strong and a bit artificial .Any way this is avgreat perfume , white flowers powdery and modern !

I absolutely love this scent. It reminds me of Betty Spaghetti dolls. It sucks that that the smell goes away so quickly.

This perfume truly is pure sex. My husband likes most of my scents just fine, but this one drove him wild, not a single other scent has this effect on him. I jokingly said I would wear it when we were going to see the Bank Manager (and maybe he would therefore give us more money) and he genuinely looked alarmed, like he was scared the bank manager would be overcome by lust, or something.
The scent itself is ‘just’ Turburose, ylang ylang and jasmine, but oh my, it is heady. I don’t normally go for the high-pitched smells, but this just works. It’s intoxicating, there’s no other word to describe it. But despite it being overtly sexual, it still manages to keep up the pretense of being an icy-cool, upper class lady. I have to admit, I don’t wear it too often, I can’t be bothered swatting away my husband constantly. Be warned, this scent is crazy in that regard. It is totally like that end scene in the movie ‘Perfume, story of a murderer’…
I have never smelt Truth or Dare – it is impossible to get where I live but I will have to seek it out.

Madonna Truth or Dare is that you?! Seriously though, this is Truth or Dare lightened up a bit. I like it very much as I do Truth or Dare. I wouldn’t buy this unless Truth or Dare becomes impossible to find.

Just picked up the sample card again after spraying on it yesterday and I thought ‘I KNOW THAT SMELL!’ And I do! it is definitely reminiscent of ‘Truth or Dare’. I’m sure this combination of notes appears in plenty of fragrances, however, I’m most familiar with Truth or Dare. On initial spray, ToD didn’t spring to mind (ToD is probably somewhat more screechy) however the dry down seems very similar. Disappointing, considering how groundbreaking his runway creations have been over the years. I feel it lacks authenticity. I’ve not experienced Kingdom, but from the reviews it seems rather divisive, which is what I would expect from such a visionary designer. I think it smells beautiful, however, not worth the price tag for such a derivative scent, when Truth or Dare can be snapped up so cheaply. Madonna definitely did something right there! Beautiful bottle but one for the label addicts in my opinion.

To my own suprise this fragrance is to my liking! Normally I’m not much into white flowers, they just don’t match with my personality (too elegant, too “madame”-like). But McQueen EdP is a beautiful exception. A modern interpretation of tuberouse, buttery, opulent but not too loud and a hint of tropical ylang-ylang are restrained by dry spices of pink pepper, clove and tart vetiver in the backround. The scent of a new generation.

As others have said, in spite of the image of the design house this isn’t edgy or groundbreaking. It is a lovely, elegant, slightly powdery white floral. I tested this and the (shockingly, colossally) more expensive Alexander McQueen for women, one on each wrist. This is the one I preferred. The additional cost is partly down to gold plating on the bottle, so if you’re more interested in the contents it really doesn’t justify the huge price difference.
BTW this came in a beautiful gift set for Christmas: a sturdy box that closes magnetically contains 3 drawers as well as the perfume. One drawer has cream, one has body lotion and one has an unglazed ceramic charm that you can spray with perfume to exude the scent over a couple of weeks.

I was given a sample of this and have been wearing it for the past two days. On first spray I was impressed as it seemed good quality and I wondered whether the lush florals might last into the drydown… It is definitely tuberose-heavy with jasmine as the support-act. I catch some ylang in the middle section which gives a creamy, slightly soapy feel. The spice is light and it does not change much going into the basenotes.
This is a pretty white floral with a light touch of spice. It is very nice but does not seem especially distinctive and I am not surprised to see so many comparisons to other white florals. For something richer and more buttery, I’d go for Fracas; for something darker and spicier, I’d choose Lutens’ Fleurs d’Oranger. However, McQueen manages to tread a different path as a more shadowy scent of the night, and I think it meets its marketing brief well. This scent is less sunny and the effect is less: “the queen has arrived, people!” and more: “hey, who is that quiet beauty?”
Does it smell as good in the drydown? Almost – the quality wanes a little bit at the end but it remains a fairly vivid scent. The sillage and longevity are moderately generous. This is the closest a white floral has come to feeling like one I’d regularly wear. Nice work.

Tuberose and gardenia, an ‘I’ve been there smelled that’ situation for me.
McQueen is a well executed but oh so overdone white floral. Name a tuberose fragrance, Truth or Dare, Fracas, heck even Giorgio and McQueen does remind me of it.
I personally dislike tuberose, it feels too bold and overpowering nowadays (used to love Fracas with a passion a few years back but tastes change).
McQueen is a narcotic, bold tuberose, for lovers of the particular accord. Not original but a good option within the genre.

All i get is a clean and lush tuberose, from beginning to end. I am perfectly ok with that, because I am a fan of this flower, but i wouldn’t recommend this fragrance to anyone who has a problem with tuberose, because here it is really potent. For me this perfume suits a mature, elegant lady, who isn’t afraid of drawing attention to herself. And of course, to any hardcore tuberose fan out there. Just don’t overspray it, because sillage is powerful.
Overall it is a linear, sensual, rich and classic fragrance.
    Thumbs up!

This perfume is very sweet and definitely floral with strong notes on Tuberose and jasmine. Personally, I’m not a big fan of these 2 flowers, especially Tuberose, but I find their notes blends very beautifully. The overall scent is sweet and rounded with no intrusive edges, making the floral notes flows in perfectly. A very feminine and elegant perfume for anyone who loves Tuberose. 🙂

Truth or Dare lovers will rejoice in something so similar: tuberose whtcove and vetiver.

I’m in love with it. It half smells like a betty spaghetti doll, but there’s also something beautiful and christmassy about it. The white flower is very strong, and there’s also like a minty-ness to it as well. It’s probably not for everyone, but I’m completely intoxicated by it.

  27. :

This is very beautiful. Fans of tuberose rejoice! It opens up with a strong, spicy, woody tuberose, jasmine and a creamy ylang. The top notes rest nicely on a bed of woods and spices which add depth and tenacity to the mix. I particularly enjoyed the deep effect of cloves and pepper as they filter through the carnal, aromatic top notes. Overtime the spicy woods become more intense and tame the floral notes beautifully. Very good sillage and longevity. I can say that this is a very classy scent, there are similarities with Truth or Dare but A Mc is far more refined, aromatic and spicy to my nose. Thumbs up!

I am not that big into florals in the fall. I reach for my vanilla laden orientals. But this is a wonderful fall floral. Someone had brought in a saks catalogue to the gym and I saw there was a sample of this. I tore it out and tried it. Oh my goodness! This is made with high quality perfume oils. Not synthetic.
Gorgeous peppery clove laced tuberose and jasmine, dancing abed some ylang ylang. It smells thick and a bit oriental to me. The night blooming flower effect casts its spell on me. It’s very soothing to wear. I just inhale the floral notes and I am immediately more relaxed. I also feel extremely feminine and dressed up with it on. It melds into my skin and works nicely as a gentle aura of fragrance.
What a price tag! But I feel you get high quality ingredients for what you’re paying.

Alexander McQueen is a pretty white floral, very heavy on the tuberose. It does smell elegant and expensive, but for whatever reason, based on the brand, I was expecting something more avant-garde.
If you like Fracas or Lauder’s Tuberose Gardenia, do try Alexander McQueen. Decent sillage, good lasting power.

If you like this kind of floral perfume, you’ll like Alexander McQueen Eau de Parfum, but I can’t for the life of me work out why this perfectly pleasant perfume is so expensive. I liked it very much but this combination of notes is hardly ground-breaking. I can absolutely see why previous reviewers compare it to Truth or Dare. I wouldn’t say the two were identical, but they are in the same vein.
By the way, I tested the much more costly perfume as well. The sales assistant told me that pepper is more prominent in the top notes in the perfume. To me, the overall effect was that the perfume was more subdued, which was not what I expected from the more concentrated strength.

save your money & buy Madonna truth or dare. smells identical & Madonna truth or dare (on me) lasts a lot longer.

This is actually a very pleasant night blooming flowers fragrance. Looking at the notes listed here I really feared it may be quite overwhelming but it would make a very easy to wear evening fragrance for anyone. I swear there is musk in here somewhere but its not listed! You have some powerhouse notes listed yet I get a spiced up SJP Lovely. I get moderate sillage and longevity.

For those of you who may have tried this and are wondering if you should just try to find a bottle of Truth of Dare….No. Just. No.
It’s been awhile since I had my bottle of Truth or Dare, but Truth or Dare was the ONLY, and I mean ONLY fragrance my husband has EVER asked me to scrub – and I’ve sampled hundreds that he has graciously endured. Truth or Dare is yes, a sweet white floral, but it was also LOUD and SCREECHY on me, and had a horrible scratchy drydown. McQueen on the other hand, is a sweet white floral that is soft, melds with my skin (on me, it’s actually a skin scent!) and has a soft, wonderful drydown without any scratchiness at all. There are just enough indoles in the beginning to get a little sexy, but overall it’s just soft and inoffensive. I predict some others with scent eating skin like mine might actually lament the sillage and longevity. As for me, I actually like my white florals to be a little on the softer side, so this is perfect. Love it!

On my skin there is no difference between this one and Truth or Dare. Nice white flowers.

I know that a Mcqueen fragrance is worth blindbuying and looking at the notes; jasmine, ylang-ylang and pepper that I am crazy about, it can’t go wrong on my skin.
PS: I do not mean to spam here with unnecessary messages (I will of course come back with a review) but for those who are impatient to try this fragrance and doesn’t know where to find it (Finland and Europe): Available for online purchase at House of Fraser, plus you get a free 50 ml body cream. Hurraaay!

A grand burst of intense, intoxicating white blooms hits you at first, blended with a peppery hit. Allow this heady bloom bouquet to soften down and you have a softer yet decadent, luxurious perfume that definitely makes a statement. Worth a try if you love tuberose scents and want to stand out from the crowd.

  37. :

Magical fragrance for the true, redblooded women, not for the screechy sugary buublegum babes.
Bewitching, alluring, heavy on tuberose, ylang and jasmine. Peppery opening softens very fast, melt in buttery flowers, but if you come closeer, you can still perceive it, almost subliminal.
Excellent longevity, moderate but good sillage, This fragrance is worlds better as Tom Fords Orchid Solei, wchich smells as if someone poured tuberosey perfume in a taco chips bag….

  38. :

    4 out of 5

a wonderfully beautiful tuberose, white flowers perfume combo….some cloves and pepper to spice it up a bit but mostly white flowery tuberose….starts out very young and fun almost candy like, perhaps some dusty bubble gum sugar powder….matures to a big beautiful tuberose….classy….

i immediately thought “Truth or Dare” (minus the thick amber) as the top is a bouquet of sweet (their own natural sweetness) white flowers.
tuberose is dominant. with jasmine following closely at her heels.
as the tuberose dries down, jasmine takes over.
it does not smell anything like Nuit de Tubereuse, despite it’s shared peppered Tuberose. This is airey and bright, not juicy.
i can smell freesias, like the powdered pink freesias in Guerlain’s With Love.
a slight waft of dry woods, almost dusty vetiver throughout.
but it has remained more flowers than woods to me. the light touch of spices give it a sunny warmth and vetiver, the depth and charm.
Although not as sweet and wet as Fracas and Estee Lauder Tuberose Gardenia, they also sprang to mind as i was wearing this. so if you love white flowers like that, with a slight dash of pepper (think My Queen), i am sure you will love this.
    the jasmine is truly beautiful!
    soft and powdered woods.
this has sexiness, beauty and warmth.
a very interesting (throughout the top, middle and dry down) and sophisticated (in its simplicity) white floral, which i think is going to be a grower on me.
it lasts a good few hours and the sillage is pretty generous for the first hour or so.
i did not get any cloves. have only tested it twice, zero cloves so far.
(interestingly, it was my Truth or Dare purchase that set me off on my perfume journey a year and a half ago. i found Fragrantica and began to read and eventually to start typing….)

I have the fragrance. It’s soft to moderate sillage. The tuberose is very lighthearted slightly green and bubblegummy. It does have a touch of Clove. I’ll have a review of it on my youtube channel soon but in all honesty it smells like an EDT version of Truth or Dare by Madonna. Which is still a win.
