Description
Mauboussin is launching a new fragrance Mauboussin Pour Elle early next year, which will be available in three different bottles. Theme of the new edition is based on love, symbolized with a specific ring that signifies loyalty.
Loyalty of the Mauboussin brand towards the luxurious large pieces of jewelry, as well as loyalty of women to the brand, forms a specific connection that lasts for many years. The fragrance is dedicated to loyalty and to a woman in the center of attention, searching for the scent that will stand out from all.
She is searching for a composition that will leave a mark wherever she goes, the smell that will attract attention, the smell of the character, charisma and personality.
In addition to an aura, she looks for a fragrance that leaves a long trail and powerful note that there will note be to aggressive or vulgar intrusive. The fragrance is conceptually floral and fruity, with a warm, cozy and sensual base. Top notes are fresh and crisp accords of rhubarb, red fruits and orange blossom, followed by the floral heart of gardenia, centifolia rose and jasmine, while the basis consists of smooth caramel, amber and sandalwood.
Mauboussin Pour Elle fragrance is signed by the perfumer Olivier Cresp in collaboration with Nathalie Lorson, created like a true love potion of elegant, confident and modern woman.
High quality and memorable fragrance of powerful trail and longevity, it is designed for women and faithful to their skin.
Bottles of Mauboussin Pour Elle are available in three different shapes and volumes; sculptural forms in which the motive of the star turns into a flower motif, celebrating the flourishing of love.
The stopper at the top of the bottle is heavy featuring a ring that signifies the emblem of loyalty and love.
The external packaging is white, decorated with black details and Maubousin stars (brand logo). Mauboussin Pour Elle Eau de Parfum comes in three volumes: 30, 50 and 100ml EDT. The advertising face is Elsa Zilberstein, an international star and Mauboussin muse.
Mauboussin Pour Elle was launched in 2011.

I am unmoved by the unique bottle design. It’s all about the contents for me.
I know I will draw a bunch of thumbs down for this, and quite frankly, if people give you a thumbs down because they don’t share your opinion, it says more about them than about your review. To that point, I am amused at the poorly constructed sentences cobbled together that are passed for reviews…especially those that are waxing lyrical about a fragrance that reminds the writer of raspberries, play dough, baby powder and chocolate. They seem to evoke enthusiastic balloon gathering.
This reminded me of Alien at first spray, not a fave. It just smells like most of the cheap synthetic smelling bottles you see stacked in the heated up west facing window display at Chemist’s warehouse.
It has a harsh opening, and if that note is rhubarb, well it should be banned from all perfumery. It settles down about half an hour or so later into a watery nothingness.
It’s probably cheap enough to blind buy, but you might immediately go into “who should I gift this to” mode very quickly.

There is a definite sharpness and a harshness to this. I guess that is the rhubarb note. I have had fragrances with a rhubarb note that have been done nicer and more “authentic,” but this just leans very chemical/manufactured/synthetic to me. Smells a touch sour at times, as well.
Perhaps the red berries and the rhubarb combo is just too much for me. I do not pick up any of the caramel at all. Really wish I did, because I feel like I need something to break up the harshness that I pick up with this. But for me, this is all about a sharp rhubarb, red berries and gardenia, and all are very synthetic-smelling. A touch of sandalwood and rose peek through at times, but again, they are very synthetic smelling to me. Pity, because I love this bottle design, it has a nice weight to it and I love the ring on the cap.
Right now, I can’t say that I like this, but I will wait until the cold dead of winter and try this again. Keeping my fingers crossed!!! I really want to like this, but all I mainly pick up is a very chemical/manufactured/synthetic smell. All in all I think this might be one of those fragrances that smells like 5 different fragrances to/on 5 different women. You are very lucky if this smells beautiful for you/on you. Maybe it just does not play nicely with my skin chemistry, or maybe my bottle went bad. But this is new off the USPS truck from fragrancenet..Hmm.

Ahhh~ so elegant and definately for night!
I can feel rhubarb and that harsh smell…
It doesn’t smell like old lady perfume, although I can imagine Rose from Titanic using it to prom.
If you want to feel more mature but not like grandma, this is perfect.
On my skin smells more carameliously.
xjm091speagoessenda – :
This perfume surprised me, even though I was expecting something sweeter.
Is quite woody, fresh and floral. A lot of rhubarb and red berries with amber.
Is a very elegant perfume and evoluates very nicely on skin trough the day. Is mostly for a classy woman who is serious, yet very confident and feminine. Says that you know what you want, you can smell good without trying too hard.
The lasting power is great, nothing to complain about. Is an autumn-winter daytime fragrance.

I was hit by rhubarb and caramel train at first spray.
For some reason the opening is a little medicinal for me. I think it causes by rhubarb-gardenia-caramel mixture. Luckily it doesn’t last longer than 10 minutes. Strangely enough, I love it.
The drydown is lovely. I find caramel base smells better and fit my personality more than vanilla base. So, it’s a plus!
Overall, it’s a sweet, fresh and vibrant perfume that can be used for office or casual days. Doesn’t have enough oomph for nigh time use, though.
Longevity is moderate, 6-7 hours.
Silage is soft, 1 foot away.

This is a well-rounded sweet floriental. I would say it is a common formula made from an uncommon combination. I really like it; I smelled it in the box and was worried it would smell dated. It is neoclassical and good for quiet nonconformists (especially with its moderate sillage). This would not work with everyone’s skin chemistry. I could see it smelling sour on some. On me, it has a light breezy quality akin to Elie Saab EDT. It is way fruitier and smells almost as elegant, yet is irreverent quite unlike Elie Saab. I also smell some composition-style similarities with Very Irresistible by Givenchy. This is a bargain compared to the two of those fragrances. It was a welcome and unexpected gift from my sisters-in-law, who apparently know my tastes! If you like either of the aforementioned perfumes and are willing to do an inexpensive blind buy, give this one a try.

Mauboussin pour Elle is a nice refreshing fruity/floral.
It’s fresh, yet warming and sensual.
The opening with refreshing red berries and rhubarb is fresh fruity, luckily not sour. It blends nicely with a creamy floral gardenia note, warming amber and creamy sandalwood.
Personally I don’t detect caramel, rose and jasmin.
Longevity is not too bad, about 4 to 5 hours on my skin. Sillage is soft.
♥♥♥

This is intriguing, compelling me to keep sniffing to decipher the mystery of this composition. It starts leathery and dry, kindly grabbing my nose to take me somewhere I’ve never been before with a perfume: a leather candy, like a high end sweet wrapped in fine leather! It’s a totally psychedelic experience, the transition is smooth and ends with a whisper of smoke. This is so classy, so put together and yet extremely eccentric, I might be in love

Pure class!!! Wonderful uplifting perfume appropriate for summer and spring. You could smell the sweet tones and the fruit from the beginning while the gardenia and woods follow. Long lasting with heavy glass bottle. Truly underrated for such a wonderful pefume. My summer signature perfume. I so glad I own it at last!!!!

I bought it and… what a deception. People voted here that caramel was one of the main notes of this fragrance, but it is not true in my opinion. Mauboussin pour Elle is expensive (at least, here in Brazil), the juice is commom and the bottle is heavy. And, in my case, the valve broke after the third time I sprayed the perfume… A bad experience… I don´t recommend it.

Caramel and red fruits are not at the top of my esteemed notes list, to put it mildly. So the fact that I would buy Mauboussin MAUBOUSSIN POUR ELLE scent unsniffed speaks volumes about my obsession with this house’s bottles. I really love all of them. I might even buy them if they were filled with colored water.
Fortunately, the house of Mauboussin maintains a perfume collection as an auxiliary branch rather than as a source of profit. It seems to exist to humor one of the family members. Well, that’s my impression anyway, given that all of the perfumes, even right after they have been launched, seem to pop up at discounters for a fraction of MSRP. MAUBOUSSIN POUR ELLE is less than two years old, and it has already been turned over to the gray market rats, which is just fine with me, since there is no chance that these perfumes will ever be duped. Who would bother? Are Mauboussin perfumes ever sold at full price and, if so, where? I wonder. I do not recall ever having seen this house’s perfumes for sale anywhere else but at discounters…
Mauboussin tends to commission fine perfumers, so usually the compositions are interesting, even if not magnificent. Probably if they invested more in ingredients than in the vessels, these perfumes could compete at the niche level. Instead, they struggle on in low designer territory, completely unknown to most perfume consumers because they don’t seem to be visible in any of the places where ordinary ( = not perfumistas) consumers dispense with their fragrance wallet share.
This creation is a light floriental with a slightly sticky quality, as though the flower petals were spritzed with some sort of thin caramel syrup. It’s not thick and cloying, but it is sweet enough to make me think of caramel. Now that I reflect on this composition, MAUBOUSSIN POUR ELLE may be close to ELIE SAAB without the patchouli. The orange blossom does seem dominant here, albeit dialed down considerably from ELIE SAAB, but there is also a buttery caramel popcorn scent as well. I could see this being gunky in the wrong weather conditions, but it is wearable by me in cold winter weather such as we are having in Boston, with a couple of inches of snow accumulation over the course of the day.
I would definitely recommend MAUBOUSSIN POUR ELLE to anyone who wears celebrity scents such as the Britney Spears collection. This is a step up from those, plus the bottle is a million times better, well, with the notable exception of BELIEVE.

At least now I know that I do not care for too much amber… I get no sandalwood or caramel, just gardenia, a whiff of tart orange peel/berries/rhubarb – and then amber, amber and amber for hours 1-7. Oh, and amber 🙂 The drydown reminds me alot of First Love by VC&Arpels. This was not my cup of tea – disappointed, as the bottle is outrageously divine and splendid! Fume made me a little nauseous, hence: Up for swap. Sent a small sample to Fizzy – looking forward to her review! 🙂

I love this perfume! Read sandrina_bambina comment she says it all! I have nothing to add!!!
unseboorb – :
Looking at the notes, and the other reviews, I expected this to be a warmer, more balanced scent on me. Instead, I found the fragrance to be predominantly tart and very floral, due to the red berries, rhubarb (which I normally love) and the manifestation of an abundance of gardenia on my skin.
I did not detect any caramel or amber in the dry-down, but the sandalwood, which took a long time to reveal itself, added a warmer and creamier effect to the gardenia note.
Overall, it feels light and elegant, but it clearly isn’t at its best on my skin, where I am not getting most of the lovely basenotes!
UPDATE: I judged this fragrance too quickly! Normally, with other fragrances, the basenotes emerge within 15 minutes on my skin…with THIS fragrance, it took over an hour for the sandalwood to establish itself, and a full TWO HOURS for the basenotes to really take hold.
When it fully dried down, the base was a warm and slightly sweet oriental delight! The caramel and amber provide richness and depth to the sandalwood, and here it reminded me of another old favorite of mine: Carolina Herrera – 212 Sexy.
piteglispLype – :
Very rich and quality juice with great lasting power and sillage.
The most prominent notes are amber, sandalwood and orange blossom.
The caramel note emerges only at the end of the dry down stage.
Pour Elle by Maboussin is a strange juice; on one hand I was ever so annoyed to learn that there is nothing fruity about it, on the other – I was mesmerised by the beauty of a deep and rich amber note that made me feel like the most elegant woman in the world.
It was a blind buy of mine triggered by reading about the two of my favourite noses behind that beauty.
All in all it was a brilliant blind buy.
I am so wearing Pour Elle by Mauboussin tomorrow – it is chilly and gloomy outside and it is the perfect season for wearing Pour Elle.
To me – it scores 10/10.

Luxury and long-lasting perfume, which was also veeery sexy to my man! I sprayed it on a cold winter evening and it get along with my skin. I can’t match it with some other perfume, this is something new to me. Very classy. I think I want it. 😉
FlaseCape – :
thanks to dear NathalieZ for letting me smell this nice perfume,as I couldn’t find it where I live.
this perfume starts really fresh and then quickly becomes sweet as the caramel developes.in fact when I sprayed it I thought I detect the prominent pear note,as it was both fruity and sweet.it smells a lot like burberry Brit to me.the difference is that here there is no Lime note and less soapy smelling.
Mauboussin is a chic elegant perfume for everyday use.the long lasting power is acceptable, but the sillage is a bit low, that makes it better for office use.

My personal experience is similar to the announcement and the story of loyalty. The bottle with a massive ring on the cap is very stylish, and the whole design was made with a lot of attention to details and the desire to offer the luxury that pleases women and promises her love in the long run. The fragrant composition brings fine layers of elegance, confidence, sophistication and a strong personality.
Top notes are fine red fruit juices mixed with the crisp notes of rhubarb, leaving an impression of gentleness, refinement, fine taste and sophistication. The heart is performing with floral nuances, heated and slightly sweetened by caramel, leaving barely audible gourmand echo.
Different shades of floral accords give very specific story, warm and heated on the skin, simultaneously coupled with cooling head notes that elegantly shape the floral spectrum. Base notes caress the skin and excite with distinctive accords of patchouli.
The fragrance is truly long lasting, it really remains around you. This perfume definitely provides two octaves, giving rich warm flowers and refreshing chic elements.
If I could choose any of the new releases that await us in the future, I would choose Mauboussin and gladly accept the ring of loyalty that I’m offered!
