While testing Marquise I was trying to get a visual image of the scent. Different scenes from Marie Antoinette movie from 2006 came into my mind. The perfume is as complex as the rules of etiquette in a French Court. Remember how long it took to dress a princess? And at the same time it’s quite abundant or even decadent. Yes, I am talking about that famous “I love candy” scene. Vanilla, balsams, Tonka beans and cacao give it a nice gourmand touch. Intrigues are obligatory there brought by the animalic touch of castoreum. Luscious bouquet of white flowers with a toxic touch of tuberose is a perfect way to describe a young lady. Innocent and yet full of desires and craving for adventures. The tension of lust heats up the mood as the sensuality of florals melts into the passionate warmth of spicy accord. A deep note of tobacco with a touch of honey appears on my skin. Were you smoking, Marquise? Or is there something else you are trying to hide? The tobacco aspect is quite masculine on my skin. Oh la-la, ma cherie! I bet you are hiding a man in your closet? Is it Count von Fersen you are having an affair with? No answer is given as there are things doomed to remain untold.
The name might suggest Marquise to be a feminine scent, but it opens quite unisex on me.
