Jasmine (Jasminum officinale)
A very indolic scent! Comparable to “A La Nuit” by Serge Lutens. Strong, indolic, somewhat powdery and woody jasmine without the “lemon/orange jellybears” note typical to southern magnolias.

White flowers. It smells very clean and summery but it’s boring and linear. I only use it to perfume my hair.

This magnolia is a good scent for parfuming your cleaning detergent or to use it to soak your washed clothes. It is actually nothing for a skin.

If you want to savor a singular scent of the magnolia white blossom I would recommend L-Erbolario’s Eau de Italia creation, the earth friendly Magnolia floral perfume. The extract used captures the sweet, strong and spicy element of the flower in a wearable manner with the simmering of white tea in the mix to calm the strength. The skosh of citrus is slight to the degree of pure bliss. I’ve tried many other apothecary/phyto type variants, i.e, Perlier, Caswell Massey, etc., but this one rates the highest on my finds.
