(review from a man, teste on my girlfriend9
Very very simple, but amazing, soft, smooth and versatile sweet-fruity pear scent. The opening is really fine pear with a hint of litchi, the mid is a solid combination of heliotrope and jasmine, but the base isn’t good, the strong cedar doesn’t fit in the composition. Nevertheless this is a very pleasent scent, and yes, sometimes less is more.
    – Spring/summmer daytime scent, very versatile
    – Sillage ang longevity is totally moderate, longevity is around 5 hours
    – Safe blind buy
    Scent (open, top-mid): 8.5/10 (x2)
    Scent (drydown, base): 6.5/10 (x2)
    Sillage: 5/10
    Longevity: 5/10
    Uniqueness: 7.5/10
    Versatility: 8/10
    Total: 6.938/10

I mostly get cedar wood from this one. It dominates the fragrance, which is a pity because I counted more on pear and litchi which I adore. A somewhat masculine scent.

Now I completely understand the differing reviews. I had the same experince – Kenzo Madly EDT is a chameleon. I recieved a decant of this and when first smelling the nozzle I thought “what a delicious pear scent”. That was around the end of spring. Unfortunately it didn’t play out very well on my skin around that time. Overripe pear and really just weird. Tried it again around summer – nope. Now I grabbed the decant again because I need a purse spray for one of my bigger bottles and thought I’d just empty it (sorry). However – being the never-give-up type I sprayed it again and wow! There are no spices listed in the notes (technically) but this is now a wonderful scent of spiced fruits with a little jasmine, woody notes and musk. It could be the cedar working its magic. Absolutely wonderful and very different. I will gladly use up my decant in autumn. At least for my body chemistry this seems to be the perfect time!

Powdery , balmy. I dont smell pear, maybe cedar mutate that note. This is not the watery pear, normally used, it is rather a jam.

Smells nice in the shop so I bought it, but when I use it, it’s just completely different, such a disappointment!

I dont really like it. start out with Tangy pear litchi scent. Its kinda offensive. But the dry down quite good actually. It stays on my skin making statement “I’m totally here, sniff me often”.
I like to sprays a lot so this wont do.
Luckily i just bought the mini version.
No floral detected to my nose.

This is a strange little thing…. The first time I wore this was a cold winterday in northern Europe and all I could smell was pear: sweet, ripe pear. The second time I tried it was a hot and humid summerday in Southern Europe and all I could smell was musk: strong, fresh musk. Third time: now it is autumn and this scent really show me the best: ripe pear, sweet litchi, fresh aquatic musk all blend toghether to a Beautiful spice. Maybe it was my skin the two other times I tried it but for me this is a autumn scent, can work in spring too I guess.

I think this is a great fragrance.
It starts out indeed quite fruity, with the pear and litchi really at the fore, and the sensuous jasmine lingering. But as it fades, it seems to fade into this beautiful, rosy musk that does have something of a tropical note to it – not overdone. It’s really lovely, that dry down, and I keep catching it again this morning on my clothes.
I think this is better than the parfum.

    Very generic, sweet, nothing special.

Unique and enchanting fragrance with delicious juicy pear and litchi notes and delicate florals that work perfectly together.
Pretty crystal and fuschia pear shaped twisted glass bottle to echo the pear note.
As with all Kenzo scents,it’s well crafted and worth every penny.
Beautiful work of art packaging as usual, this time with vibrantly colourful butterflies. <3
If you love pear notes as I do this is highly recommended.

I like this one. Madly Kenzo! is bright, fresh and young.
It’s very musky, so if you don’t like musky perfumes, you may not like this one. It smells like jasmine and litchi on my skin.

I think I’d like to own a little bottle!
I REALLY like this on myself, but this scent — even if applied with a light touch — might be something that gives other people a headache. So, I’d want to be cautious wearing it to, say, work, a restaurant, the gym.
As per other reviews, it has a VERY strong fruity opening. I also detect musk and cedar at this stage, too. The “floral” is there, without a doubt, but I don’t sense it as keenly as other members. To me, this is a clean, lovely-smelling “shampoo” scent!

This is very peppery to my nose and after a while very sweet. Although I don´t dislike it it´s not a scent I want to own. The balance between the sweet pear and the sharp cedar is´t the best and it´s a rather odd combination to my nose. I think I will use up my sample though 🙂

AS somebody said just before me, I got it in promotion same day bought chanel coco noir as the special evening fragrance. And I loved it mainly because it was light compare to chanel and cheaper, much cheaper. Then I loved it for another 2 weeks and I stopped I was like: ehh it’s ok.
Then it was another month I was using it from time to time when suddenly one day I sniffed my jumper which I had the day before (with Kenzo Madly) and I liked it again, very special smell.
I don’t like sweet smells, or very vanilla smells but this one even it is a bit sweet (kind of) doesn’t really bother me.
So yes, give it a strong 6.5/10 like it but not sure if buy again.

Too heavy for me, even if it’s only eau de toilette. Later I feel overpowering oriental wood, just like one dominating note. In most of cases, I like warm, oriental, woody fragrances, but only if it keeps some balance between flowers and wood. Madly by Kenzo doesn’t.

This has recently SO surprised me! Got it cheaply on a trip to London and felt “meh” about it- just one to wear on those days when I don´t really care I thought, since it is nice enough with the litche and jasmine. One night I put it on before bed and I woke up to the MOST amazing, clean, fresh, fruity and musky smell ever! LOVELY! I feel that one shouldn´t be fooled by the strongly fruity opening since that one smoothly carries over to the really nice jasmine and it all together falls into clean woody notes and this so clean and surprising musk. A few here don´t like the musk and yes, it is strong- i. however, love it! There is just something about this Madly i cannot put my finger on and I would really suggest people to give it more than one try in the store! I am really glad I did and I am planning on buying a large bottle since I am sure this is one of those scents that the company just discontinues or maybe they´ll add some flanker with the notes changed… Another thing that surprises me is that I do like the aquatic note in it- I thought I was completely over anything aquatic, but in this it just makes sense- the fragrance is also stronger than frags with an aquatic note usually is! I will now research heliotrope since there is heliotrope in it and I am not familiar with that note!

The campaign for this really confuses me. This is such a heavy, musk scent and the ad makes you think of a fresh, young fragrance.
I can hardly detect any other single note, when I give this a whiff all I see in my head is this cheap bottle of musk my mother bought me when I was like 12, that I couldn’t stand.
I’m not going to say this is a stinker, but I am not a big fan of musk to begin with, so I would say this is really just for musk enthusiasts.
    Seriously.

Madly Kenzo EDT is a tad better than its predecessor, Madly Kenzo, but I still wouldn’t buy it. The musk note is quite overwhelming in both fragrances.
Madly Kenzo EDT opened with a lot of potential, featuring a fresh pear note and a juicy hint of litchi. It thankfully wasn’t too fruity, just soft enough to allow the delicate, feminine heart of jasmine and heliotrope to shine through.
Unfortunately the synthetic musk that I had an issue with in the original made a somewhat abrupt entrance, smothering those beautiful fruits and powdery florals. Don’t get me wrong, I adore musk, but in this fragrance the musk note smells like a disastrous mix of chemicals.
Kenzo is usually a brand that works for me, producing a countless number of scents that I have loved enough to add to my collection. This Madly series has unfortunately been a bit of a let-down.
A dear friend sent me a sample of Kenzo Madly EDT, and I thank her because I wouldn’t have tried it otherwise. If you bitterly disliked the original like I did, you might find yourself enjoying Kenzo Madly EDT, as it is quite a different composition, and is not as heavy.
I do hope that Madly Kiss ‘n Fly and the new and upcoming Madly Oud Collection are improvements on this fragrance. Refine that musk note and then maybe they’ll have a winner.

I smell honey from the start to the end… at least on my skin.
The honey isnt listed in the notes, that show that i dont know anything about scents ; )
Has a good lasting, but isnt for me.

It’s really fresh and happy… but there is waaaayyyy too much musk… like most of other kenzos; i’m moving on easily.

I get a significant litchi note from the beginning to the end. Though it’s very detectable, it’s soft and tender, not in an aggressive way. It’s fruity, sweet and sour, but incredibly clean. It doesn’t smell too girly but absolutely cute and I think it works well in spring, even in hot summer as it’s fresh. However, it’s probably more suitable for young ladies IMO due to the image of litchi. I tested EDP too and they’re very different, as EDP has somehow a masculine vibe. The longevity is about 5h and the sillage rather close.

My dad bought me this without me asking for it and i’m glad he did, the more i wear it, the more i like it
The opening is mostly pear, litchi and lovely jasmine, the drydown is more about the jasmine and cedar aaand a lot of musk, very fresh, kind of aquatic but still different, not your typical fruity floral at all, it has some edge. The first time i wore it i wasnt super happy about it but now i’m completely hooked so give it a chance! also the pear and litchi are more about the juice, not sweetness, i think they smell pretty natural. i love this scent for spring and summer.

Quite normal, I encounter many scents with fruity-floral-acquatic, nothing special for me.
I expect better ones from Kenzo.

I see why the price of it is so high. This one really does have 3 stages of metamorphosis. Blast of fresh NOT SWEET fruits and flowers (but somehow the smell reminded me a lot on bubbling shampoo!). The smell is strong and light at the same time. I personally couldn’t hear it on my neck after 10 minutes, but my friend said that this frag filled the whole appartment! After some time I could catch flowery smell on my wrist though and after 5 hours it still was there but changed into amazingly clean fresh musk mixed with very light, tender, TRUE (non synthetic) jasmine blossom or even jasmine tea. Then jasmine faded away and left clean musk on its own.

The beginning, pear, rasberry.. i love the top notes very smooth, not so strong..
But the base with cedar.. umm not.. its too strong.
    i agreed with gennie17.
    Not the best from Kenzo.
    6/10

This is my actual signature fragrance. There is something very fresh and happy about this scent. I am not an expert when it comes to fragrances by the way. It has this very light citrus scent to it.

  28. :

    5 out of 5

This is a bit better than the EDP in my views, still I am not sure I truly like it, the cedar is pretty strong in the top notes, like a wood chips effect. . It is almost like smelling incense in a way, not sure I find the effect of cedar mixed with the other notes very attractive I still get that wet ashtray smell I get in the EDP. I agree there is a dissonance in the notes, in the end there is a sour effect, and I am not too fond of it. Not the best Kenzo.

I have to admit, i might have been a bit crazy regarding the campaign. I kind of loved the original madly bottle, the bright colours, the butterflies, … However, i was taken aback when i smelled that one and could hardly breathe for the incense smell. So when this edt came out i wanted one right away, thinking it would be softer.
So, my grandma bought me the smallest bottle (claims she’s to old for perfume so her only choice is to buy them for me – gotta love her 🙂 ). I’m still in love with the shape but after an hour i smelled… Uhm… Nothing 🙁 sprayed on my hair, my neck, my clothes… But to no avail! Will keep the bottle as decoration though 😀

I’m surprised to know that this perfume contains pear. I did not notice it. I think that Madly EDT is another Light Blue copycat but with less citrus in the opening.
    Lots of cedar too.
I find Madly EDP much more complex and enjoyable.

  32. :

I like this smell. It is simultaniously sweet, dry, cool, spicy and warm at the same time. The dryness and coolness prevents it from being too sweet, and the sweetness seems almost fleeting at times.
It reminds me of Givenchy Organza, but for young women.

I was gifted with this one, although I am grateful and I have to keep it, I am not enjoying this smell. Flowery, kind of sweet. It smells cheap. I wear it to bed, and even that I am not really crazy. This probably would suit younger ladies.

  34. :

When I first put this on my skin it smelled gorgeous. Fruity, yes. but also a little spicy. Something different. I couldn’t really decide if I really liked it because it felt maybe even a little too spicy and woody for my type. Sadly, when I came home (after like half an hour) it turned really really sweet on my skin which I don’t like a all. Too bad. If it had stayed the way it started on my skin, I would have bought it immediately… It might just be my body chemistry not working great with this one, though.
Oh, and it lasts surprisingly long. Even after taking a shower, the next day my wrist still smelled like it.

  35. :

Maybe I’m just not a litchi fan, so for a couple of hours this fruity juice is a bit annoying for me. Very prominent litchi and pear, but no heliotrope for me (beware, heliotrope lovers, this needs testing). Then – quiet soft musk (but litchi is still there). Despite of fruits and jasmine, this fragrance stays very close to skin. Suitable for having tea with your friend. Or just sitting home.

How Gorgeous is this Fragrance!!!…Very Different to the EDP. Soft, Feminine and Elegant, it lingers nicely onto my skin….This Fragrance has certainly won me!!!..Another Beautiful Kenzo Fragrance on the Market!!!

I totally agree with user Antonpan. This has almost (may i even say at all) nothing to do with EDP “Madly”. While i like “Madly” EDP very much for it´s character and being not another floral-fruity, i just don´t get this EDT “Madly”. Bland, lightly sweet scent with litchi and pear accompanied with a way too much of a jasmine. Oh, yes, there is a heliotrope as well, but somehow these notes don´t combine each other, they mess with each other and if the fragrance would be a chior, this one would not be a good choir at all. More of a music band with one leading singer (Jasmine) and two back vocals (pear and litchi, the opening act). Oh, wait, there is a disturbing fan, that got bakstage and now tries to get on the stage – heliotrope. This concert was a mess, sorry. I´ve seen (smelled) it once and won´t be returning for more.

This one has nothing common with woody peppery Madly Eau de Parfum. Madly Eau de Toilette is a typical “pink” fruity floral scent. Nevertheless it is very well done and, yes, it’s joyful! The combo of pear and litch here are evident, and these components smell quite natural. Despite the fruitiness the fragrance stays will stay close to skin to my mind. Madly Edt is absolutely another story than Madly Edp, but still lovely and attractive.

This scent is very joyful. There reminds me of Annick Goutal petit cherie. Full of pear and lichi. Then scent runs into the musk and the vanilla. Very delicate, cosy. I like it 🙂
I wait for smelling EDP 🙂

It’s a lovely scent, but I expected more from Kenzo.

Very Kenzo – litchi is lovely much less ‘flowery’ than kenzo flower more sophisticated and musky. Very very nice – not mind blowingly amazing but you wouldn’t complain or be disappointed if you bought it without smelling first.
