This is gorgeous. Much better (IMO) than Lovely, and I don’t like Lovely at all – but I adore this!! It’s beautiful A divine floral, with such beautiful flowers and fruits, and soft feminine amber and musk. It has such good longevity and sillage, and I’m always being asked what I’m wearing, and told how beautiful I smell.
I adore adore adore Love Bird!!!!!

    Fragrance Review For Love Bird
    Nanette Lepore
    Top Notes
    Lemon Black Currant
    Middle Notes
Carnation Rose Jasmine Lily of the Valley
    Base Notes
    Amber Musk
The bottle is lovely; almost like a child’s toy.
It reminds me of a little “fake” perfume bottle or factice. However the scent is all to real.
It has a charming sweetness and muskiness, simultaneously mature and innocent.
I read all the reviews and thought that it would smell like Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker which I haven’t worn in years or the other fragrances Franticans have listed – including one of the Narcisso Rodriguez and Tocca’s Cleopatra.
But to my surprise this fragrance is nothing like those aforementioned fragrances and I found it to be unique.
The fragrance is fruity with a citrusy lemon, bright and fresh, and honestly more like a mandarin orange to me than a lemon.
The black currant note is delicious and the fruity opening of the scent is my favorite part.
It has a slight fruit candy vibe.
The floral notes that stand out include a green lily of the valley, a powdery rose and a carnation.
The carnation scent is the strongest accord and it smells very graphic, green, floral and romantic. It’s exactly like putting your nose to a carnation corsage.
At times it reminds me of the carnation in L’Air du Temps by Nina Ricci, which is further enhanced by the similar notes of lily of the valley and rose.
All in all this is good floral perfume.
Finally the dry down is a musk with very little amber.
The amber is soapy but the musk comes through: mature, elegant, confident and yes even old lady ish.
But it’s beautiful and I’m enjoying every moment.
This is a good perfume, affordable and easy to wear in the day time as a casual scent to wear to work.
It’s not too heavy and it has a floral sweetness that is sure to delight floral fragrance fans.

I’m going to make this real simple for you guys.
This is literally Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely…with better longevity and better sillage.
To be honest, even Lovely…gives me decent performance. Lasts about 4-5 hours on me and radiates about 3 feet.
THIS BEAUTY HOWEVER….lasts about 7 hours on me and radiates more like 5-6 feet. It’s really awesome! Smells like a heavenly perfume version of a musky apple martini JUST like Lovely does.
    Scent Itself : 9
    Longevity : 9
    Sillage : 9
Overall Rating : 9…and with the price taken into consideration…it may even be a 10. This is gorgeous. Can be easily found on Ebay.
My advice…if you like SJP’s Lovely…TRY THIS!!! You’ll love it as much as I do.
Good luck all & thanks so much for all your honest reviews here! I’m loving this site so much.

Nothing feminine or pretty about this one. For some reason licorice comes to mind when I smell this. I usually love musk, but this is sort of stale-smelling. I would try to leave the room if I encountered someone wearing this. It has made me steer clear of NR and Lovely too, since they supposedly smell identical. Obviously I’m in the small minority, but I thought you should at least know it is not universally loved.
    Longevity: 10/10
    Scent: 1/10
    Overall: 1/10

Very similar to Narciso and Lovely, as others have stated. The bottle is MUCH cuter than those 2 though, so it wins. Plus, the musk in this one is sweet—but not as cloying. I love it for it’s soft sweet freshness. On my skin it opens with a musky lemon, and dries down to a musky amber mixed floral. If you like cozy sweet musks like Narciso or Lovely, you’ll love this one. Plus, like I said, the bottle is adorable.

Just like Narciso – lovelier bottle. I love it.

I usually post another scent that this one being discussed reminds me of–but I can’t think of anything else I own that this reminds me of. It has become one of my winter standard scents since I found it in a 3.4 oz bottle for under $7 at a Big Lots in about 2008 or so. It’s interesting to me how different people experience fragrances–I had no idea how floral and fruity this scent was, because on me it is very warm, amber-y and spicy. (Must be the carnation.)The Jasmine, rose and lily of the valley explain both the staying power and why it has grown on me so much. I can wear almost any scent with jasmine in it! I also find this scent very lasting, so, again, there is no accounting for body chemistry. I love it–a good, lucky purchase!

Oh Love Bird, how I adore thee! A perfect floral-musk containing my favorites – musk, rose, berries, carnation and amber without any patch or vanilla which I dislike!! Smooth, not very sweet, yet slightly refreshing, and very warm and soothing. The perfumer did a great job blending the warm base of amber and musk with the white florals and citrus – this is often where they go wrong with the musky-florals IMO. Very well done! It’s quite long-lasting on me, I probably get 6 hours out of it. This is my signature scent.

Oh my,lucky me! I found a 3.4oz bottle of this at a second hand shop today for one dollar! It’s almost full too. I had never smelled it before but I do have a roll on of Nanette Lepore which I am on the fence over. I was surprised how nice smelling Love Bird is. To me, it is very, very sweet and tangy. Initially I smell something herbal, like natural black licorice but that quickly fades to, what I’m guessing is,the current ( dark-sour-fruity) The carnation, rose and jasmine are very evident after about five minutes but they smell drenched in honey…maybe that’s the amber. I don’t get a lot of musk but that’s good because I’m not a big musk fan I’m finding out. The bottle is cute…reminds me of a vintage Avon type bottle from the seventies/early eighties.
In a way it reminds me of LAMB from Gwen Stefani but I really don’t care for that, this however is really sweet and pleasant!

The carnation & rose are prominent throughout. I didn’t get black currant at all in the beginning. Then I was left with another floral musk. It’s a nice, blended well, but just not my thing.

This is a lovely scent – sweet and sparkling like a spring day – but it only lasted 45 minutes on me. I’m certainly glad I had received a tester bottle to try before wasting my money. I would STRONGLY urge anyone interested in this perfume to try to find a place to try it on for yourself before buying it – maybe your body chemistry will allow you to hang onto the scent longer than mine did.

Nanette Lepore Love Bird is a non-sweet fruity musk. The black currant notes really dominate, right up until the ambery musk dry-down. I pick up very little flower notes in this one.
Not especially good persistance–3 to 4 hours at most, but a very nice fragrance. I do need to comment on the quality of the bottle, which is very poor. On my first bottle, the entire spray tube came out when I removed the cap for the first time, and the two could not be separated. I returned it to the store for a new bottle, only to have the exact same thing happen again a few days later. I was unable to return that second bottle. I like the scent but I find myself not reaching for it as often, due to the defective sprayer.
