Description
The house of Liu Jo presents Gold, their new perfume infused with oriental mystery, exuding luxury and elegance. It is announced as a deliciously extravagant, magical and exotic scent of an Arabian fairy tale.
The voluptuous composition brings a warm and intoxicating, musky, oriental and woody fragrance. It starts with bergamot and Damascus rose, with delicate petals soaked in a refreshing pear sorbet. White oud, leather and sweet pralines form the heart of the fragrance. Vanilla’s warmth, patchouli and sensual musk are to be found at the base.
The fragrance comes in a bright gold bottle and box in the distinctive design of the house. The golden cap is wrapped in a rigid chain – a nod to the collection of Liu Jo accessories – and its box features a leathery effect adorned with black letters. It is available as a 30, 50 and 75 ml Eau de Parfum. Liu Jo Gold was launched in 2016.

I was given a sample of this perfume. I don’t like gourmands. Not my fav.
Caramel + white chocolate + artificial chocolate covered raspberry jellies or rose sinking in chocolate? + dry hazelnut note (!!!) mixed with leather (I guess it’s oud).
Too sweet.
There is written “rose, pear” on perfume sample paper card but all these notes are covered in tones of caramel and chocolate, it makes no sense..

The opening is very similar to Black Sugar by Aquolina. The same overwhelming sweetness lined with dark smokiness. Liu Jo Gold is slightly sweeter (probably because of bergamot and pear sorbet). With time, Liu Jo Gold softens due to dry damask rose and becomes rather close to the skin as opposed to omnipresent Black Sugar.
Middle notes are leather and oud. Then there is the subtle vanilla, some patchouli and musk.
Liu Jo Gold is chic and neat. Not fancy by any means, but without exaggeration, simply elegant. It should not be offensive for the environment.
And the bottle? It is simply georgeus!

Warm oriental sweet scent, not bad, but not exceptional either. The better version of La vie est belle, I would say. The bottle is just magnificent.

I like this one less than the pink and violet one. It’s strongly aoud and leather scent, but sweet too, praline note also stands out.
One strong winter fragrance.
Not impressed with it, I would like something more airy and light.

the orginal Liu Jo (the violet one, EDP. I havent smell the rose one) was a big let down, old ladyish, scratchy, cheap smelling and VERY synthetic. let see if there is any improvement now

Sounds terrific and that bottle!
