It’s highly unlikely, but I’ll write what I smelled: at some point in this concoction, it reminds me of Jarling by JAR. A water-down version, of course.
The beginning is your regular, almost synthetic rose leaning towards the “fresh” “light-weight” direction, with a hard-candy like facet and an almond nuance; then the sweet powdery violet notes comes into play.
When you’re tired of the cliche, miracle happens: the “Jarling accords” step on to stage. A slightest hint of anise, and an animal-fat-unctuous soapy notes dazzled your nose. And vanilla, of course. It only last a few minutes (or seconds), then back to a regular rose-violet-musk mixture, leaving you wonder WTF happened just minutes before.

Bought blind (from someone in a FB forum) purely on the strength of the description on here-nearly a full bottle, but for far less than cost price. Having worn it regularly in the last few days I can safely say I would pay full price and more for this, please, take my money!
It’s absolutely spectacular. I hate the name-for some reason lipstick always makes me think of plastic, synthetic nastiness, but this fragrance is just sheer gorgeousness. It is quite traditional-rose, violet, powdery-quite simple and certainly not unique but it is just beautiful. It’s full on prettiness, 1950s Hollywood glamour, feminine and beautifully robust. It’s quite sweet-not overpoweringly so, but jammy and sugary initially, more like a gourmand than a floral really. There’s definitely vanilla cookies and cream in there too, but only very light. It has a woody backbone that stops it being too sweet and sugary. I’m a sucker for powdery notes anyway, I can’t resist them, and this is up there with Jardins d’Armide for me-just lovely.

I got this in hopes that it would be like Chanel Misia, but it’s not. It’s got the same vibe, but Lipstick Rose turns very ugly on my skin. It smells dirty and like spoiled oil.

Tested Lipstick Rose at Neiman Marcus the other day. I fell in love instantly, but luckily decided to keep this one on Christmas wish list, rather than purchasing that same day.
Hour later i was at a restaurant with my daughter, when she pointed that someone close to us is wearing scented tampons.
Wave of embarrassment came all over me, and i realized instantly that it was Lipstick Rose emanating from my hand as i was eating.
I put my hand under her nose, and she just nodded, so i rushed to scrub as much as i could, but this is a beast, so sadly i had to live with it to the next day.
As much as i love lipstick scents, now i can’t stop wondering if this is what other people smell around us when we wear them? Scented tampons? Yuck.

This is one of my favourite perfumes, it belongs to my top five most loved fragrances: an amazing sweet, powdery, waxy, fruity rose. It is like a vintage lipstick of course, but also like a rose flavoured candy or maybe a damask rose petal jam. The rose+raspberry combo is what makes this perfume irresistable to me. It makes me think of the ’50s and Marilyn Monroe: in few words, vintage Hollywood glamour.

I finally got to test this yesterday after hearing so much about it.
    Is it pretty? Yes.
    Is it groundbreaking? No.
Is it worth the cost? Not even close.
For me this is a pretty rose, but not a unique rose. There’s a bit of warmth and spice. It is certainly well blended and absolutely high quality. I will not argue that.
However. Guerlain’s Santal Royal does just as good a job with warm grown up rose. And costs a fraction of the price. In fact when I sprayed Lipstick rose I thought immediately of Santal Royal, I prefer the Guerlain.
Fortunately this doesn’t smell like lipstick on me (I am not a fan of “cosmetic” scents), but it also doesn’t smell particularly amazing either. Test before you buy, I don’t find it worth it.

I’m not really getting the lipstick or the roses. Just the smell of Parma Violets. Lovely, but not what I was expecting at all. For rose I will stick with POAL. I will enjoy this for what it is though.

    A absolutely beautiful Rose scent.
Starts like freshly picked, powder pink Rose petals, not a favorite type of Rose for me, But! soon she sweetens up to a glorious sweet/powdery fruity Rose and the drydown is where I start to really love her. Oh yeah! Soft, close, sweet, powdery gorgeousness.
I’ve got a 5ml decant and will see how it goes, I’m a little tempted to save for a full bottle. ❤

Yes, the truth is obvious here. This might have been the inspiration for the Oud Mood Collection by Maison Francis Kurkdjian. What is even more striking is the resemblance between Lipstick Rose and the latest Oud Satin Mood Extrait de Parfum by MFK. However, it should be taken into account that Oud Satin Mood Extrait de Parfum has nuclear performance, while Lipstick Rose quickly turns into a skin scent on me and completely disappears quite soon. Lipstick Rose shares the same botanical accord with the MFK’s creation, with some rose lurking in the background. It is odd and not quite appealing to me. Personally, I’d prefer the MFK’s ”clone”, because it feels richer, more polished and complete. Performance with MFK is significantly better too.
You can check my review of Oud Satin Mood Extrait de Parfum if you’re interested.

Thanks alot cranky! I wanted to try this scent out but I wanted to look for a cheaper alternative because this is crazy expensive and very difficult to find. I can’t wait to get the Guerlain Rosa Pop.

I didn’t see many reviewers here mention that it is a bit sweet. It is like vintage lipstick, but also it is like a rose flavoured candy. The grapefruit pushes this floral into gourmand. So it’s like your lovely grandmother passing you a plate of sugar coated gum candies. It lasts a surprisingly long time and the musky powder notes make it delightfully easy to wear. Ralf Schwieger has done it again!

I just got this today, it was a blind buy that was inspired by these reviews. There is a similarity with Chanel’s Misia “which I absolutely adore” Lipstick Rose is a magnificent fragrance, I don’t think I’ve smelled a more plump, luscious rose fragrance before. Ralph Schwieger is a very talented perfumer that in my opinion made THE BEST rose fragrance for our time. This is marketed for women but in all sincerity, it’ll pass as unisex because of its easy, natural, creamy non “perfumey” nature and musky drydown. I don’t know any Man that will pick up a rose, smell it and say yuck! this stinks, I’d rather smell some wood. I like what my favorite fragrance reviewer “Lanier Smith” says, “Wear what you like not what everyone says you should like” This was the best blind buy ever ♡♡♡♡

I am quite surprised noone has mentioned Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Rosa Pop. They are 95% similar, but Guerlain is waaay too much cheapier. Try FM at the mall and wear Rosa Pop, noone with notice the difference. 🙂
Anyway, Lipstick Rose is a wonderful and very beautyful interpretation of vintage lipsticks (some people mention Lancome, I don’t know), with a blend of wax, rose scent and the powderness. A grandma’s makeup bag scent kind of. It has a very prominent powdery ROSE SOAP blended with violet on a musky base.
It has a slightly noticeable sillage and very long-lasting, 6h+. I get a very masculine dry-down after 5 hours.
Definitely a scent to explore, but I would not wear it everyday.

After trying (and loving) MM Lipstick On, I wanted to try Lipstick Rose. The opening was rose heavy, with a citrus blast. After a few minutes, and it settled into a scent which I would describe as “powdery tea with honey”. It’s an absolutely beautiful scent. Is it better than Lipstick On? No, for me it’s different. Lipstick On has more of a real makeup scent…it’s more waxy, more spicy, more like the scent of the inside of a cosmetic bag. Both are worth owning IMO.

I had the pleasure of testing the entire Frederic Malle series at a mall.
This was a very well done powdery rose with a sweet honey like bottom. The dry down is powdery, and well crafted.
    Sillage: weak but distant
    Longevity: Long

If you like being a girl, you’ll most likely enjoy wearing this perfume. It’s so bright and glamorous and reminds me of the ballet days of my youth. Smells very reminiscent of Lancome lipstick and is very delicately feminine. The violet in LR is very powdery and refrains from any sort of soapiness, as the rose refrains from any watery sort of transparency. It is thick and full and very cheerful.

This is the best lipstick scent. Period. A review for another favorite of mine, actually reminded me of this. “An olfactory equivalent of running your hands over your mother’s white cashmere dress as she hugs you.” Amazing.

I adore the scent of powdered makeup and musty lipsticks. There’s a certain glamorous association in my mind when I smell such scents. It was not surprising that I really enjoyed Frederic Malle’s Lipstick Rose.
I actually don’t find this fragrance to be rose-centred at all, despite rose being featured in its name. It’s more of a powdery violet scent with a large dollop of clean white musk.
Lipstick Rose is a simplistic yet addictive fragrance, a scent I couldn’t help sniffing throughout the course of the day. It smells of old Hollywood glamour, like something the beautiful Grace Kelly would display proudly in her boudoir.
I’d have to agree with Now Smell This contributor, Jessica that this is a more subdued, modern take on the 1980’s powerhouse YSL’s Paris. For those that wish they could wear Paris as elegantly as some women should try Lipstick Rose before giving up entirely.
For the rather high price tag, one would be pleased to know that Frederic Malle’s Lipstick Rose lasts a whole day on the skin with moderate sillage. I would recommend this fragrance for Spring, Autumn and Winter as a comforting, powdered floral to keep you entertained throughout the day.

My mother has Margiela’s “Lipstick On” and I’m in love with it and was sad I couldn’t have it to myself! Who wants to smell exactly like their mom? So I went on the hunt for a comparable fragrance and comparing only concepts while completely looking past the actual notes, I ended up blind buying this. And I’m returning it. It doesn’t give me a vintage cosmetic vibe like “Lipstick On” does. This smells like baby wipes and only has a powdery drydown. It’s not bad but it’s not me and it certainly isn’t worth $60/10mL.
UPDATE: I can smell the vintage cosmetic scent more and more as time passes, but the baby wipe scent overwhelms it. I know the notes are different so of course the two fragrances will smell different, but just in case someone else had a similar idea to mine, to summarize: “Lipstick Rose” smells like lightly pressing your nose against a very delicately scented face powder while “Lipstick On” smells like a vintage luxurious lipstick, along with the beautiful woman who is wearing it, along with the decade itself (the 50s).

I just couldnt handle the opening grapefruit, powdery violet lipstick note. Its a plastic rose and not retro at all. Its a quirky feminine scent..a Betsy Johnson type coud rock this…sadly not me.

The name certainly delivers. It’s a lipstic fragrance, a vintage one…covered with lots of powder.
Beautiful and persistent if this is what you are looking for than look no further. Retro diva. In the category of such perfumes this is undoubtedly the winner.
Great longevity & moderate to heavy silage.
Not for me, I could enjoy wearing this in very rare circumstances. Luckily I just have a 3,5ml original sample that is going to be more than enough to satisfy all of my needs.

I have and love Chanel Misia, but I couldn’t resist trying this one, too. After the strangely aggressive top notes, Lipstick Rose settles into a lovely rose-violet powder scent, almost exactly like Dior’s matte lipsticks which, in turn, smell like vintage lipsticks. Misia is definitely sweeter–like violet candy or like candied lipstick; this, though, leans toward a powdery/creamy vibe. WANT.

I wandered into the Mecca store at the Strand arcade in Sydney today to try this fragrance, its hype and brand have been enthusiastically exalted, so needed to do a sanity check.
Ok it’s gorgeous, in an old fashioned Dior lipstick from the ’60s kind of way. Personally I loved it, interestingly, my husband thought it was awful, which makes me ponder…do we wear fragrance for ourselves, or for the loves in our lives? Personally, I am going down the totally hedonistic selfish route on that one.
I didn’t buy it because it’s $320 AUD ($255 US) for 100 ML. I’m going to investigate on line options before I commit to this level of devotion.
    Sillage 8/10, Longevity 6/10, fragrance 8/10.
Update – I tried this again in Hong Kong, and tried Maison MM’s Replica Lipstick on. The latter lasted less than two hours, whilst the former, Lipstick Rose was still going strong several hours later, so I thought…well, I’m on holidays, may as well buy it! Glad I did, it’s really lovely.

Smells exactly like vintage high end cosmetics. This perfume makes me feel like a movie starlet back in Hollywood’s Golden Age with its cheeky hyper-femininity. I don’t usually enjoy violets in my perfumes, but Lipstick Rose amps it up past the usual whisper of candied sweetness to a full-throated roar. Paradoxically, more of something I don’t like turns into something I like a whole lot.
The first time I smelled it, old retro movies came into my mind – women with wavy hair wearing red lipstick, retro mottled dresses, and smoking from long cigarette holders…Sooo sexy! This fragrance leaves a very nice creamy scent of rose on my skin and it lasts for ages. I never get anything less than 12 hours of longevity with very nice projection.

I first smelt this and HdP Moulin Rouge about 2 years ago when I was looking for a lipstick fragrance and though i really liked both, I haven’t been able to get LR out of my mind. I have tried a few other lipstick fragrances but to me this is the queen of lipstick fragrances ( though I hear French kiss is up there).
It reminds me of some Chanel lipstick I had back in the day. This is one of the few perfumes I find myself craving.
Somehow LR manages to smell classic and young at the same time – like Guerlain l’heure bleu meets Britney Spears fantasy . . .
To me it is a beautiful blend of waxiness and violets that evokes feelings of other times and places.
It goes on very strong, it’s middle notes are gorgeous and the dry down is like a 70s musk.

this just melts into my skin. its smells like red lipstick, powdery sweet violets a romantic rose it has such a pretty warm creamy dry down. Its everything I want in a parfum, i’d give up half my collection for this one.

“Compact Powder Rose” would be a better name for this fragrance. It is dry and powdery imo. A lipstick rose smell should feel richer and greasier.
The scent reminds me of bug spray and I can’t help it!

this is the most comforting scent I own. It makes me long for summerdays that seem endless. I usually wear it in the daytime at home its such a leisurely scent.
The only disadvantage to me are that the longevity and the silliage are pretty low for a FM perfume. That makes the price a little over the top, still worth it for me tough.

  34. :

    5 out of 5

Lipstick rose is one of my MOST feminine fragrances I own. It is extremely powdery and leaves a stunning violet rose trail that is sourounded by musk and vanilla , the vetevier prevents this from being über Sweet but it still carries plenty of sweetness in an extremely powdery way.
In the end this is soapy and fresh to me nose ,it has such a good drydown even if the beginning can be overwhelming and too powdery for some.
Lipstick rose is a well put together lady , classy yet playful , sweet and innocent yet sexy all at once. I love lipstick rose. It’s a masterpiece.

  35. :

    3 out of 5

Lipstick Rose is not a sweet fluffy powder. Both the vetiver and musk in it are darker and bitter. Rose is wrapped in musk and the violet adds a powdery vibe. The vanilla isn’t a sweet foody vanilla. Grapefruit is there only to attempt to balance the heavy notes. Amber provides staying power. Lipstick Rose is a very very mature scent, dusty, earthy, heavy, not sweet, not very feminine, not too powdery. Easily unisex.
Wears close to skin, lasts about 8 hours.

After sampling this fragrance on a strip I knew I had to have it!
Instantly, it felt like a pin-up model or Marilyn Monroe/Jayne Mansfield type of “boudoir” fragrance. It’s sexy and sweet, old fashioned, and even on the vintage side. It smells like powdery “make-up handbag” fragrances like Yves Saint Laurent Paris, Red Door by Elizabeth Arden, 5th Avenue by Elizabeth Arden, Ombre Rose by Jean Charles Brosseau and to a degree Violet Eyes by Elizabeth Taylor. A powdery floral scent, feminine, sweet, perhaps too much, a fragrance of heightened femininity. Suits a vintage lover and female Marilyn Monroe impersonator like me! This is why I like to wear perfumes like this since they match up with vintage 1950’s clothing, especially glamorous evening gowns. The fragrance is pretty linear and it doesn’t take a long time to develop, but I think it does have a structure and it’s like this:
    Top Notes: Grapefruit
Middle Notes: Rose Violet Orris Root Iris Powder Notes
Base Notes: Vanilla Musk Amber Vetiver
The brief intro of grapefruit or pink grapefruit is fresh and fleeting. It jumps straight into the powdery florals that smell like lipstick, make-up, powder puffs and the inside of a woman’s purse. It has a sweet and powdery rose but it’s also candied like fruit candy or a raspberry. The orrris is both powdery and candied like the licorice in Samsara by Guerlain. There is definitely iris and violet. The violet is clearly responsible for that lipstick scent. It smells sexy and provocative. It doesn’t seem to go with every day regular casual clothes. You have to dress up to wear this stuff. It matches with a cocktail dress or evening gown and it’s best worn in the evenings/night.
The dry down is vanilla, musk, and amber. The vanilla is powdery as well and the musk is a white musk, lighter and also somewhat powdery, not leathery. The amber is clean and warm, golden and supportive of the florals. The base notes only serve to keep the florals grounded and from becoming too ephemeral. This is really such a well composed fragrance.
Sweet, girly, sexy, a perfume for Betty Boop, Barbie, Marilyn Monroe, and Jessica Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit. There is a cartoonish vibe to this scent, but it really is my type of fragrance. I dress up in costumes all the time and have performed as Betty Boop, Jessica Rabbit, Marilyn Monroe at parties.
This is going to be dress up costume lipstick fragrance from now on!

Its a yummy, plummy scent and I love it – old fashioned without being mawkish , I am having a current love affair between this and Chanel Misia which is also almost edible , a bit more like parma violets , certainly similar but also different because Misia is less rose and more violet . I dont see either as “formal” – both are lighthearted – I cannot chose between the two so I west them both, separately and also together – so much more rewarding and interesting than the gourmet benzoin of Angel . Nothing like Drole de Rose , nothing like the Roisine perfumes – there is no doubt its a rose but a creamy soft rose not a dark damask -I’m not getting YSL Paris either – thats sickly sweet compared to the creaminess of this – my current favourite along with Misia – Misia is £115 for 100 ml eau de toilette , £115 for 50 ml EDP Lipstick Rose – surprisingly , on my skin, the Chanel lasts longer but on clothes, especially cashmere , the FM has the edge – I agree its a masterpiece , both are actually – hard to chose between the two,

Lipstick Rose makes a great interplay of surfaces – creamed powder tinged with rose and violet and steeped with a bitter woody structure. Besides the vibe I get from the combination of musk, vanilla and violet as in candied violets I can not find LR nostalgic or old-fashioned. Its lipstick idea still matches just as much a contemporary one. Instead I would call LR monstrously cute and carnal … like a film between bodies as touched and rubbed off makeup, sweat and semen. Not only does it taste waxy, creamy, rich, sweetish, but also bitter, bitter sour and slightly alkaline. The next day the explicit connections recede and the calmer, more comforting rooty aspects of the composition come to the front. Roots as in iris, carrots and vetiver. Lipstick on a warm woody base, eased and grounded. Throughout the entire wear vetiver seems to act discretely in the back as a go-between. Without drawing much attention to itself it manages to connect woodiness, grapefruit’s bitterness, iris’ roots and violet blue into one drag composition. It’s fun to wear.

A sweet, powdery, rosy violet. I’m assuming they’re going for the old school perfumed make-up scent but I get more of an 80’s vibe; not Giorgio or Poison 80’s but the fun, drugstore 80’s, like Exclamation. It also reminds me a bit of Habanita, which I also enjoy, with it’s old school sweet, powdery rose. I’m not sure if I like it or not – I don’t normally like powdery fragrances – but this has a sweetness from the violet and vanilla that I find appealing. I’m probably not going to get a bottle of this but I must admit, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

I wondered into Barney’s on a recent trip specifically to try this Malle since I read it was supposed to be a better version of my beloved Jo Malone and MMM Replica Lipstick On. The SA said this was their beat selling Malle and gave me the bottle, allowing me a full wear on the skin. I was sorely disappointed. I didn’t get creamy, waxy, violets or true rose.I didn’t get anything remotely cosmetic or lipstick or rose. What I did get is an honestly forgetable floral. It had almost no silage, sitting very close to the skin. Luckily for me, it didn’t last long, it was gone in a few hours.

Love at first sniff! I have a spray sample and I am sure I will drain it to the last drop! Gorgeous – the perfect lipstick scent – softly rosy, creamy, a little waxy – the perfume captures the waxy texture of lipstick without actually smelling like wax. Its rich, deep and complex – you get the feel of layers and complexity even though the perfume does not go through a lot of evolution.
I will have to decide what to do after I finish my sample – this is a perfume I would like to have in my wardrobe. However, I already have Drole de Rose which it is often compared to. I like Drole de Rose, but it is a much lighter, less complex and less rich perfume than Lipstick Rose. There is no doubt in my mind which one is better, which one I prefer. Sillage and longevity are excellent on my skin – Lipstick Rose is absolutely beautiful and full bottle worthy.

Oh, Beautiful Lipstick Rose, The Queen of Pin-Up Scents. I absolutely adore you. I’ve lost count of the amount of reviews I’ve read that start with “I wouldn’t usually wear something like this, but I love it”. Well, these types of scents would definitely be my usual choice; this is what I’m always looking for! This is what I love. I love perfumes that project classically feminine auras that smell vintage, yet modern. This is Lipstick Rose exactly. Wearing this makes me think of pale skin, hourglass figures in well-fitting dresses, tiny waists, and smiling, rosy-cheeked vintage pin-up girls.
Malle’s version of the “lipstick” scent is my favourite of the genre so far. It is full and rich and creamy and sweet, and is much better blended than Chanel’s Misia or YSL’s Paris, in my opinion. The second two choices are more elegant, ladylike and softer than this one, so they may be better for you if that’s your preference.
Lipstick Rose is a very sweet perfume, but not in an aspartame or chemical sort of way; this is like wearing candied violet jam. The violets also add a sort of modern-day sweetness, which prevents this rose perfume from smelling too dated. This note is also the most prominent on my skin, along with waxy undertones, that echo the scent of vintage lipsticks. It smells full and round and smooth, like the curves of bee-stung lips and the red rouge that stains them. During the dry-down the scent looses some of it’s potency, and develops into a cleaner, muskier, more delicately powdered and silken rose. I also think that I can safely wear this one because of the blend; roses sometimes smell like potpourri to me unless they are extremely well-blended with other notes, and because they are in Lipstick Rose, happily, this perfume works very well for me. The sillage is perfect; soft to moderate in strength, and longevity on me was about 9-10 hours.

What hasn’t been said about lipstick rose? It’s creamy, sweet, floral, powdery, cool, and nostalgic. As I sprayed it on myself today for a deluxe pedicure and dinner with my best friend I thought this scent was just perfect for the occasion. A celebration of one of the many facets of feminity.

Lipstick Rose evolves so quickly on my skin. It begins as violet pastilles mixed with rosewater that almost immediately becomes a soapy, powdery rose reminiscent of Penhaligons Elisabethan Rose before settling down five minutes later into the scent of a Lancôme lipstick mixed with a touch of vanilla. On some days I smell the vanilla more than on others because it’s barely perceptible to begin with. My skin tends to draw out vanilla notes, but vanilla is never a strong note when I wear Lipstick Rose.
It has been many years since I wore Lancôme, but in the 90’s they had a rose imprinted into the lipstick, and they smelled like rose too, which I liked so much back then. Feminine, chic, and fun!
I went to Nordstrom and sniffed a Lancôme lipstick, and sure enough, it matched the scent of Lipstick Rose almost perfectly. It was rosy, just a little waxy due to the lipstick itself, and then it had a tangy note in it just like the perfume that keeps the scent from smelling too stuffy and old-fashioned. But I was amazed that I was right on the money.
The thing is: I love Lipstick Rose, but it only smells like Lancôme lipstick. It is not my “go-to” for the powdery cosmetics and lipstick scent that I love. My own personal favorites are the newest version of YSL’s Rive Gauche and Maria Candida Gentile’s Burlesque, the latter of which is underrated and overshadowed by Sideris.

This does something to me. Like makes me roll my eyes back into my head and also feel so nostalgic. It’s so unbelievably mmmmmm. I need this in my collection. I wouldn’t want it to be my signature but testing it again tonight I wouldn’t want to live without it. Better that 95% of the many many many many frags I’ve tested or owned. It’s a must. Love. And it is completely true to its name. Vintage, red lipstick feel. Pinup classic.

This smells like all the good in the world squeezed into a tiny container. You alone have the power to release the divinity, spray it into the air, inhale, and feel reborn. So much more than roses, this is the perfume equivalent of a spiritual awakening.

Lipstick Rose is a treat. Uplifting, unusual, deceptively simple, it’s what I reach for when I need a pick me up. Given to me by a treasured friend (thanks vidabo.x) I’ve just about used up the 50 ml with joy in about 3 weeks…It is expensive, but a collection of memories like these in a bottle is worth a splurge.
The bottle is also special, like an ink well, and the packaging, and with all Malle’s, seems perfectly suited to the contents.
This is the incomparable scent I was waiting for…My experience with Lipstick Rose has proven how life affirming it is to receive thoughtful gifts, and make a perfume one’s own.

Lipstick Rose is a very feminine retro-style fragrance. It smells like perfumed powder and lipstick – amplified to the max. While makeup has this barely there scent, Lipstick Rose is very powerful, a bit choking even. I make sure to never spray it on before breakfast because it gets nauseating on an empty stomach.

Retro, powdery, lipsticky beautiful perfume. I adore this scent, good longevity, good projection so demure and womanly love it.

This fragrance is beautiful, feminine, with a retro vibe. Unfortunatly (at least for me), it’s way, but way too powdery, it even dries out my nostrils when I smell it.

Glamorous and retro. Roses, violets and a strong raspberry note are dominant on me, although there is enough musk and vanilla to soften any blousy shrillness the fragrance may threaten at first spray.

Was fortunate to receive a bottle of Lipstick Rose as a Christmas gift. This glamorous EDP provides a decadent touch of retro. Initially, I was struck by the feminine rose accord, followed by powdery violet and iris. The berry base notes of raspberry, strawberry, and blackberry mingle beautifully with vanilla bean. About a half hour later, sharp, soapy grapefruit peel appears.
The warm richness of Lipstick Rose is elegant and very “Old Hollywood”. Lipstick Rose is definitely reminiscent of YSL’s Paris as well as Fred Hayman’s Touch With Love–as other reviewers have mentioned.
Lipstick Rose is a welcome addition to my perfume wardrobe, although I still prefer Malle’s rose masterpiece, Portrait of A Lady. Yet, my husband adores Lipstick Rose because it conjures up visions of “pink rose petals, lemonade, and cotton candy”. Enough said 🙂

I do not know what vintage lipstick smells like as i’m a bit too young to ever have smelt it myself or have anyone else to refer through. But I can certainly imagine it would smell like this…hence the name Lipstick Rose. But I like it — violets, roses, and powder. I wish
