I’ve had this perfume for almost a year and I love it every time I spray it on. It’s so unusual, feminine, and always evokes memories from your past in some way. Whether it’s the scent of vintage cosmetics, a baby doll, or your mom’s makeup bag. There is more to it, though. It’s not old and dusty, but vibrant yet soft. I think it’s the combination of iris and tonka bean that I love the most. I wish it were an edp instead of an edt. I think this one can afford to be longer lasting compared to the rest of the Replica line.

A very powdery fragrance. Heavy on the iris throughout with a light sweet background. I had this on my want list for years. I finally took the plunge and purchased. It’s not a safe blind buy at all! When I first sprayed it, it took me back to a memory of walking into an old post office or one of the old buildings on our military base.
This doesn’t last very long on my skin (in my case a good thing.) I love the bottle and name of this perfume but this doesn’t work with my chemistry. Just posted this to sell on my app. I’m sure someone else will enjoy it.

This perfume deserves all of the positive reviews it keeps getting, and I can’t wait to get a bottle of my own! I first smelled it at Sephora’s, and it’s the first perfume that I’ve come across in a long time where it was love at first sniff for me. It starts off smelling powdery, but in a makeup powder kind of way…reminds me of the old fashioned Coty Airspun loose face powder my grandma used to use. Then it starts to smell warm, sweet, and nutty all at once…kind of like marzipan. The longevity is good, too. Very original, and my favorite from Margeila (right next to At the Beach.)

Opens with a burst the mentholated doll head…settles into a powdery cloud, then a chocolatey patchouly… Very nice!

I LOVE iris. This scent was worth every penny for me. It’s expensive for an EDT but I think I see it that way because I prefer to buy EDP strength in my fragrances with a few exceptions. If you love iris this is for you. Please don’t troll me for saying this but the opening of this perfume reminds me of the iris in La Vie Est Belle Éclat – NOT REGULAR LA VIE EST BELLE. Anyway the opening is like a more delicate version of lveb eclat. I believe this is the iris. After about 30 min this morphs into something reminiscent of fève delicieuse. It’s like feve delicieuse but delicate and with violet. I love this. I don’t find it overly sweet or so powerful that I can’t wear it to work. This is a favorite and to me is worth the money.

Doftar så kraftigt av gammeldags läppstift till en början! Jag gillar det, kände mig genast mer elegant. Därefter mjuknade doften ut i vaniljig huddoft. Vill testa den igen, men tveksamt om det skulle bli ett köp.

Smells adorable!!! A perfect replica of feminine aura and lipstick. Soft, powdery, sexy and ladylike. Definitely one of my favorites.
Lasts for hours – silage is perfect for me

This is a hilarious scent! Brings warm childhood memories as it smells exactly like the lipstick my mother wore when I was a child (which was not in the 50’s like they say on the label but in the 70’s). 🙂

I had high hopes for lipstick on as it’s compared to Guerlain L’instant,Givenchy Ange Noir and I love powdery scents but I was so lucky to be able to sample Lipstick On before blindbuying it.unlike my expectations,I hated it!
Lipstick On opens with a bitter, dark, harsh chemical blast.it really reminds me ink,as if my pen is leaking and it’s blue ink is all over my hands and clothes.I haven’t tried Guerlain French Kiss and FM Lipstick Rose but I have some of the others so called similar perfumes and IMHO they’re nothing like Lipstick on
Yes,it is powdery and I can feel it’s waxy undertone but these are not enough to make it smell like a lip,at least not the lovely-smelling lipsticks of my mother which I used to adore as a kid.it could be close if there was a touch of sweetness, less aromatic bitterness or some rose sparkle or a raspberry /cherry thing but as it is,it’s a huge No for me
After an hour it settles down to something less chemical, more grounded and more tolerable for me but not lovely enough to make me wait for it
I really wanted to like this one but we’re not meant to be together

Unfortunately this is not for me. I have a sample of this and have been testing it out over the past few days. It has an unpleasant opening that instantly reminds me of burned plastic or rubber. I get the powdery vibes that do bring expensive cosmetics to mind eventually but the burnt rubber smell is just too overwhelming. I’m glad I didn’t blind buy this. Definitely sample before purchasing!

Sweet, powdery cherry lipstick. Love it!
I mostly get iris, vanilla and cherry. How is there no cherry is this composition?
In the background there’s tonka and heliotrope, and I also get some almond. A very nice fragrance, with a moderate sillage and a longevity from about 4-6 hours.

This quickly became my #1 favorite, last Christmas, when my fiance gifted it to me.
I love everything about it. It’s feminine and pretty, and absolutely smells like vintage quality lipstick/powder, without feeling at all dated. It actually comes across quite modern to me.
The only fault I can find in this perfume, is the longevity. On clothing it lasts days, but on my skin it could stick around a little longer. Regardless…
    I ADORE THIS!!!!
My guy even loves it, and he’s usually pretty indifferent about these things….
    It get’s a strong 9/10 from me.

So, this is odd. While I do generally appreciate powdery sweet scents, I’d never in a million years have guessed that I’d enjoy smelling like retro cosmetics. And yet, here I am, currently listing this in my top five fragrances because it’s been in such heavy rotation lately.
I’m a sucker for the entire Replica line, but this one really stands out as having captured the exact era and essence that’s described in the copy:
“Chicago, 1952. A beam of light streams through a partially opened door. Hidden in a dressing room, a woman applies the finishing touches to her makeup: a delicate cloud of powder, a touch of rouge.”
I don’t even know this woman, but the second I spray this perfume I’m standing in her bedroom like a creeper, watching her primp for an evening at the lounge.
Depending on when you came of age, you will either be reminded you of your mother or your grandmother, maybe a bit of both. Lipstick On is most definitely a feminine fragrance, but I’m sure men can enjoy it, too, if only for the nostalgia it evokes.
Add this to my ever expanding list of perfumes that are so weird, they work.
EDIT: Smells AMAZING layered with pure black licorice oil. The spiciness adds so much depth, and compliments the powder perfectly.

As far as I can tell, the lipstick accord comes from cherry/almond/berry + iris/violet/rose. The heliotrope and iris combo in this is gorgeous, but doesn’t last beyond 2 hours and doesn’t evolve on my skin. It’s beautiful, but overpriced for the performance.
From the Replica Memory Box, I’ve found them to be well blended but of varying performance. I love the concept, but some are too simple for the price point.

  17. :

    4 out of 5

This smells like creamy lipstick, yes due to the iris+vanilla combo. But it’s not overbearing. This went the totally different direction that Valentino Donna did on me. Somehow it becomes more effervescent the longer it wears. I wasn’t the first to come up with this comparison, but it really does smell like Dr. Pepper. Like a fizzy vanilla Dr. Pepper! I’m truly obsessed with this one. If I spray it on, my wrists become like magnets to my nose; I can’t pull away.
Longevity and sillage are fantastic. This is one of the first perfumes I’ve tried that I would have no problem paying full price for, but that might also be because the used bottles of this I’ve seen online look like they were sitting in the bottom of someone’s garbage can.

I want to love lipstick on! I bought it blindly with high hopes and something about this scent is just not me, sadly! I have tried it several times and each time it doesn’t give me any feeling other than i wish i had worn a different fragrance. I can appreciate such a fragrance but it just doesnt go with “me” if that makes any sense. I have just about a full bottle I’d love to swap, exchange or sell.

Wow, this is the first fragrance that’s really giving my previous favorite cosmetic/lipstick type iris fragrance (1889 Moulin Rouge) a run for its money. I only have a dabber sample of Lipstick On so I can’t speak to normal longevity or projection but the scent itself is really lovely.

    I do like it.

  21. :

Yes, for the first 15-30 minutes Lipstick On is everything every positive review asserts. Sweet, delicate, powdery iris. Warm, peaceful and comforting. The inside of a much-loved, old, soft leather purse with a tube of waxy lipstick, a fancy mirrored compact of powder and a lovely handkerchief that’s absorbed the fragrances of all three. Truly swoon inducing. And then she starts to fade. After an hour I’m left with a very nice -but ordinary- vanilla/patchouli fragrance. Two hours later there’s nothing left at all.
Fortunately, I learned an expensive lesson after being deeply disappointed by a pricey full bottle blind purchase of Penhaligon’s Tralala (see my review). Even though tempted by several ebay “reasonably” priced full bottles of Lipstick On, I was careful and purchased a 15ml bottle for a little under $17.00. And a good choice it was! (I thought it would make a good travel bottle if I loved it and later on bought a full bottle since MMM’s 100ml capless bottles are NOT meant to leave one’s house.)
Clearly, some fragrances that sing a long and glorious song on some skin merely hum a fleeting tune on that of others, mine included. A lovely tune, no doubt, but way too short.
At this point in my fragrance journey I have a stupid-large collection and scents that don’t last more than an hour simply have no place, no matter how spectacular that hour might be.
For upwards of $70+ USD, do sample before purchasing a full bottle.

I adore this scent, She is quiet and peaceful, soft and innocent. I want a back up bottle because she is so popular at my house, my sister keeps using and wants to steal mine lol
A gorgeous sent quickly becoming my favorite.
If you not love your bottle maybe we can swap. ❤

the first thing I thought when I tried this perfume was that it reminds me so much of L’artisan Traversee du Bosphore that I adore. I love Lipstick on and if I didn’t have Traversee du Bosphore I would get this one.

I have nothing but sheer adoration and respect for this masterful creation. I both own and have tested numerous other cosmetic-inspired creations, but have not come across anything that so perfectly encapsulates my 80s childhood memories of watching my mother prepare to go out. The lipstick, the face powder, and the shiny vinyl clutch all make an appearance and blend seamlessly to create an impenetrable cloud of femininity that I could live in forever.
I first tested this when it was released and wasn’t enamored with it, as the patchouli seemed too dominant in the dry down. Nevertheless, I couldn’t get Lipstick On out of my mind; I would return to it intermittently to sniff the tester. About a month ago, I sprayed it on myself again and lo and behold, something magical had happened – the patchouli was gone! Either my body chemistry changed (likely, as I stopped taking hormonal birth control) or the juice inside the long dormant tester changed. Emboldened by my discovery, I ordered a full bottle from Sephora and it turned out to be just as I suspected – body chemistry changes eliminated the sharp patchouli funk.
As for sillage and longevity, the former is moderate and the latter high. I can still smell this faintly on my skin the next day after a shower, but I do have quite oily skin, which means that fragrance tends to stick to me well.
I am so happy now! Lipstick On is my ideal sweet, soft, vintage powder puff dream and I look forward to many years of fragrant bliss with her by my side!

I recently purchased Lipstick On after hearing about it for so long, but I should have got a sample first and not just tried on in the store. Whilst a beautiful nostalgic scent for me it has absolutely no staying power on my skin, only lasts 1 hour max. However I have found if I spray it on my hairbrush and brush my hair at night I can skill smell it in the morning. So now it’s my hair scent but at A$160 a bottle I won’t be repurchasing.

I am surprised no one has mentioned this, but Lipstick On reminds me so much of Feve Délicieuse. A less sweet version of Feve for sure!

  27. :

    5 out of 5

Very much reminds me of the 80s. Like seriously, takes me right back. Zoooom.
Smells heavily of toys straight from Kiddy City, doll’s clothing, and the waxy lipstick I used to apply for fun from Thrift Drug or the friendly neighborhood Avon lady. Very nostalgic. It smells of my childhood playroom, full of Lite Bright plastic pegs and Barbies strewn from one end to the other.
    Comforting. Warm. Powdery.
Not a gorgeous scent that bowls you over and makes you want others to smell it on you. Oh no, this, to me this is a strictly personal scent. I wear it as a pleasant reminder of my 80’s childhood (I turned 16 in 1990) and all good things that lay dormant in my memory. It releases them. Odd, but true.
    I agree with thehanna’s review, 100%.
Sadly this little beauty does not last on me, at all. As others have commented it leaves a warm trace on skin after three hours or so.

Doll’s head + inside of an old purse
I swear this has a distinct carrot opening then becomes the slightly waxy floral scent of vintage or cheap lipstick, make up powder and a good dose of doll’s head. Even though these notes are not listed, I also smell/ missmell a vintage carnation and clove mix midway through.
I smell a nod to Noxell Covergirl powder with an ever so slight camphorous or menthol undertone to smell like Noxema face cream. Also traces of long gone beauty products inside of a vintage purse.
I like this. It definitely fills a spot on this genre of vanity scents and is one you could wear in year round.
Anyone else thinking about sheets guy below? To each his own but women tend to enjoy being treated as individuals, not as accessories to your perfume collection

So I read this description of heliotrope on a blog (Crazy Perfume Lady): “Heliotrope smells like fluffy, powdery almond mixed with syrupy cherries.” On me, this is the perfect description of the opening of Lipstick On.
Following that, it takes on more of that lipstick/makeup bag vibe with the heliotrope hanging on for a bit longer.
It started strong then slowly faded, lasting about 5-6 hours, with pretty much only the vanilla remaining in the end, but what a pretty journey it is!
I did not pick up on the patchouli, so if you’re staying away because of that, give it a try!
It’s very pretty, ultra feminine, and sweet without really being a gourmand – it’s like a pink, powdery puff!

  30. :

Lipstick On opens surprisingly waxy, even for what I know full well is, obviously, a lipstick scent. It was a bit off-putting, even. It died down pretty quickly, but as it happens, so does the scent entirely. After 45 minutes or so, I could smell a lovely tonka and heliotrope odor, but only if I pressed my nose against my arm. I’ve begun to appreciate quieter scents, but this is too far. Glad I sampled and didn’t waste my money.

A nice additiion to my collection, smells like a perfume made in the 1950’s. I want to clear up something I noticed another reviewer clarify too so as to ensure anyone doesn’t blind buy this thinking it smells like cherry cola or Dr Pepper. Ok so to some extent I get the comparison as it does have a certain note to it that is similar however it lies underneath many other notes and elements that you would need to like as well. I would say this smells a lot like Lipstick Rose but it’s better. I feel odd saying it smells like a perfume that I just didn’t quite like but it really is a lot like it but as though this is what Lipstick Rose was meant to be. Lipstick Rose gave me a migraine unfortunately and I found it to be far to jammy. So again oddly enough it reminds me of another perfume by MFK being Portrait of a Lady, because this was old school done right. It doesn’t smell like Portait of a Lady exactly just evokes that feeling of a very well done vintage perfume. It smells a lot like a small cherry note laden with a lot of makeup powder / iris floral and it really does smell a lot like lipstick. Its like an older compact powder as well. I don’t know why but I imagine Marilyn Monroe or something similar smelling like this or this being the smell of her handbag. Of course No 5 evokes the most Marilyn image but I could see a classic beauty wearing this. If you love vintage scents that are wearable with a modern edge you will like this one.

Sweet first on with very marked woody iris, like a cross between Putain des Palace and Iris de Nuit. VERY like those two, minus Putains’ skanky notes. Drying, it takes on a musty/vintage chypre feel with the galbanum and patchouli, very much one of those almost masculine antique perfumes. I’m not crazy about that bit, as those old chypres aren’t my style. But with that vintage perfume/creamy powdery face makeup feeling, Lipstick On is definitely what is struck out to be. On full dry down, I get a very sweet iris/violet in the end, still retaining that creamy makeup undertone, but mostly super sweet violet. Okay but might not be a rebuy, even in sample size. I’m still looking for a cheaper version of my beloved makeup/perfume scent Jovoy Rouge Assassin…

well I got this because I read it smells liked Dr Pepper lipsmackers but it doesn’t, I was hoping for cherry or something idk maybe it needs more time to develop! My sister said smells like an old compact in a cellar so idk lol I didn’t like it at first sniff but now it actually reminds me of Chanel chance vive a bit or something I’ve smelled before but at first it really reminded me ofMon Guerlain with those strong sweet powder notes!if someone knows of a sweetDr Pepper smelling perfume please comment

blind buy, I am obsessed with finding the best powdery, ambroxany, irisy, fragrance, however, i am not a fan of too sweet or too loud and at the same time not a big fan of skin scents, so basically I am in search of that perfect signature scent, from this one I get Tarhun lemonade vibe, if anyone familiar?! ( is a Georgian carbonated soft drink that is flavored with tarragon or woodruff), i would like to have more soft powdery side in this fragrance, overall, i dont regret buying it but so far, e coudray iris rose still the best, along with JHAG not a perfume (dont like this one as longevity is 0), ecoudray also could be just a tad stronger, not that they are comparable, just saying 🙂
so if you have any recommendations please let me know

A beautiful take on cosmetic powders and lipstick. The opening is perfectly Iris & Orris butter rich and carroty (love these notes) and it softly evolves to a perfectly powdery perfume with notes of cherry, “cosmetic powder” and rose scented dusting powder. Gosh it reminds me of a blend of things like Guerlain cosmetics, cherry chapstick and dusting powder, overall it is Evocative and easy to wear. Got this as a blind buy, success!
Note: I own a few cosemtic inspired perfumes, this is different from all the ones I have for sure. I like it, but not a love. I porbably wont wear this as often, i have to be in a mood for it.

Worn my sample a few times now once on a (rare) night out and at work in a cold flower shop in January. I find it flirty and feminine not my usual type but I love it. It’s a waxy iris make up scent that works nicely to make you feel beautiful and glamorous wearing it. I’d love a full bottle.

Beautiful concept, of course I fell for it and rushed to sample it. I like the ‘makeup’ note in perfumes and the name here was impossible to resist.
Now the actual scent. Well it’s a standard warm/powdery/sweet modern fragrance with standard slightly spicy slightly floral opening and warm sweet tonka/soft patchouli drydown.
It smells like something I probably sampled at Zara or H&M or something like that. Very familiar and not so extraordinary or ‘vintage’ smelling.
Now this is NOT a bad fragrance, but simply put my expactations considering the concept, the brand and the price were too high.
Lipstick On is a safe, sweet and warm mishmash of notes that smells nice but only that. I hoped for more uniqueness, I guess.
Luckily, recently released Scandal by JPG met my expectations by delivering what was promised by the similar concept. So I recommend Scandal to everyone who like me expected more vavawoom from Lipstick On.

Opens with iris, vanilla, and thick boozy cherry. Cherry or… almost like plum-jam. 😀 This gives me huge Zara Gourmand Leather for Men vibes. But please do not think Gourmand Leather is a copy of this. Just vibes! 🙂
The opening is heavy. But after 30 mins you wish you sprayed more. Cherry/plum-jam is gone and beautiful iris with vanilla is now smelling gorgeously. It’s almost gourmandish, like if there was strawberries and waffles(?!) 😀
If you love Lipstick On, you might love Givenchy L’ange Noir too. But if you love L’ange Noir it just might be you don’t care about Lipstick On. I know this is a conflicting thing to say but it’s what happened to me. Lipstick On is great, really, but I guess when smelling lipstick fragrances I’m always waiting for my pulse to accelerate and my cheeks to blush from excitement. Lipstick On makes me warm but not hot.
But this is just a personal preference. Please try it yourself! 🙂 Will make a good gift also.

Beautiful, subtle sexy scent. When first sprayed on skin, it it’s the smell of freshly applied face powder. As the fragrance warms on the skin the richness and sweetness develops into something more comforting and femme. Understated and soft.
    Such a lovely, evocative fragrance.

  40. :

    3 out of 5

Powdery iris opening with a starchy texture not unlike play-doh when you first spray it on. The vanilla is immediately noticeable, but it’s used in gentle amounts that makes Lipstick On as sweet as a delicate macaron rather than sticky candy. -Something- in this mix smells realistically waxy, though I’m not sure what. MM hit the nail on the head with this one: it smells just like the described lipstick and rice powder. Nostalgic, feminine, pretty. Something perfect to throw on as a finishing touch on days you want to feel special and put together. I also like that Lipstick On is a versatile fragrance; I would feel comfortable wearing it year round, day or night, casually or formally.
EDIT: Sooo I sniffed a shirt I wore the other day and found it had such a delicious, subtly fruity and powdery scent on it. I thought to myself, “what did I -wear- that day?” and went through a mental list of what it could be before realizing it was an amazing, almost unrecognizable dry down of Lipstick On! It seriously smelled like a different perfume. It struck me as something like cherry or raspberry, not lipstick! Anyway, if you have trouble with this perfume’s longevity like I do, try spraying it liberally on your clothes. Apparently it lasts a few days.
EDIT EDIT: I’m wearing this with Gold Sugar today and can perceive how cold it is in comparison. The iris stands out more. Lipstick On smells like cold face cream at the moment, lovely.

  41. :

    5 out of 5

Lipstick On starts with waxy iris and vanilla. It seems to me this note combo is quite trendy at the moment, and it’s well done here. Like the name suggests, this is a cosmetical, powdery, lipsticky scent.
Luckily it’s not too dense and dry, the bergamot and neroli brighten and freshen it up. These rather tart notes play really well with the lipstick smell, much better than sweeter fruits would. To my nose there is also a light leathery note in the background, I’m not sure if this is maybe the galbanum, as I’m not too familiar with that resin.
I don’t get any patchouli here at all.
This perfume acts different than most fragrances in a way – it starts with a strong sweet vanilla note, but becomes colder and less sweet on my skin over the time. While I generally love warm drydowns, this is a nice change.
I think Lipstick On is very likeable and deservedly popular. It could be a good allrounder for anyone who enjoys feminine, sweet and powdery scents.
I’m not the hugest fan of powder and iris and still I think this smells very good.

Little and shyer sister of Guerlain’s French Kiss. Glamour Bombshell. Beautiful and powdery, more suitable for the day wear, for office and work- for all daytime occasions when French kiss will be simply too loud and too bright. And i get a strong musky vibe from this , though it is not listed there, but i`m very sure, there is a proper dose of musk within.
It contains all the good qualities of FK , but much softer, powdery, cloudy beautiful. Where the FK screams, the Lipstick on whispers. The sillage and longevity is even better than FK. For all Lipstick – powder fragrance lovers- great choice for less money than FK.

MMM Replica Lipstick On is unbearably beautiful, to me possessing a delicate grace that made an immediate impression of LOVE.
The fragrance literally smells like my grandmother’s mid-century vanity, complete with silver repousse and powders made of fine, genuine talcum atop the polished antique wood graced by an oval swiveling mirror and globe-shaped, white-frosted lights. There is the irrefutable presence of vintage scented lipsticks open on this lady’s boudoir vanity and she’s seated on the tufted stool, pinning her victory curls with bobby pins, smirking like a lady with secrets she’ll never divulge.
Scent in my opinion: 10/10 easily.
    Performance:
    1. Sillage (projection): 7/10 Soft to moderate at best, she is beautiful but not loud.
    2. Longevity/ Duration: 7/10 Lasts several hours but I wish she lasted forever.
I’m very prudent and cost-conscious but, that being said, MMM Replica Lipstick On truly IS 100% worth the asking price. (But please test first so you know before you buy).
Edited to add on 12/1/2017: Of my entire collection, my husband told me that this one is his favorite one and he has zero problem with the price-tag because of the fragrance’s beauty and quality. So it’s a 10 of 10 for him, too!

Got a sample in a swap and it definitely smells like lipstick, at first, then dries down to a soft floral. It’s nice, but I wouldn’t purchase a FB.

There’s a lot of vinyl wax in this fragrance that for me, is really too much. The soft florals are barely there, buried in vinyl wax. It does smell a bit like old fashioned lipstick, much more so than Frederick Malle’s Lipstick Rose version, but Lipstick On is not strong or lasting enough to wear as a real perfume. I got about an hour of moderate projection, then it faded to a skin scent for another hour, then it was gone entirely.
While I do love this type of perfume, I have others that are a lot better. Disappointed in this one, but I hope perfumers keep trying to create lipstick and makeup type scents.

Sometimes I have the impression that the concept of perfumes as a collection is just an excuse for brands to try to reach a wider market of olfactory interests while optimizing costs, standardizing the presentation and making easier the creation process. But the fact is that a collection of perfumes can be unique and interesting while being diversified. And a cool example of this is the Replica collection of the Belgian Martin Margiela.
Conceived as a kind of time capsule, the Replica collection seeks to transform memories into scents and contextualize them into specific places, periods and audiences. It’s a genius idea in my opinion, because as a concept it allows you to work different olfactory styles while creating a collection purpose and avoiding the obvious. How has no one has thought of this before? It is a kind of curation of scents as if they were photographies. And I decided to follow the journey that they tell in a chronological way to see how the memories would work (considering of course the already available memories).
Therefore, this journey begins in Lipstick On, which is categorized as a memory belonging to the year 1952 and to Chicago. This olfactory memory represents a moment of ritual beauty of a woman, where she finishes her makeup with touches of talcum powder and a sumptuous red lipstick. The perfume itself goes well with this idea and therefore gives us a powdery and glossy aroma, something that basically combines iris, carrot root, heliotropin and vanilla and coumarinic touches to complete the picture. The scent has a chic and sophisticated vintage aura that matches well with this retro powdery floral style. It does indeed refer to Chanel Misia, mainly because of the powdery aroma of iris and violet. The difference is perhaps that while Misia seems something more specific, Lipstick On has a more abstract aura consistent with the idea of a captured memory.
For those who enjoy this type of perfume, the aroma is delicious and of high quality. There is a sophisticated harmony that knows how to balance well the powdery, glossy and sweet aroma of the ionones (molecules that pass the aroma of iris and violet) with the earthy and vegetable touch of the carrot root. Heliotropin adds an almondy, slightly bitter touch that helps complete the cosmetic feel of the composition. And the creation evolves in a languid way to a creamy base of vanilla, woody touches and tonka beans, a kind of gourmand equivalent of the past. Considering that this type of composition has returned to the spotlight recently with a nostalgic wave permeating various cultural aspects, I would recommend Lipstick On as an exemplar of an old-fashioned perfume that does not look so dated, that has quality and a good cost-benefit .

I have owned and loved FM Lipstick Rose ever since it came out back in 2000, so I’m not surprised I fell in love with this fragrance either because they are quite similar. Both perfumes are meant to take us back to 1950’s cosmetics. Lipstick On fits its name perfectly: it’s extremely feminine, and it does smell more or less like I imagine Brigitte Bardot’s boudoir back in the 1950’s.
In the bottle it smells heavenly, like I think lipstick should smell (I imagine this lipstick as light pink); a very powdery iris, but with just enough musk to make it interesting. On my skin, I found the musk too dominant at first, a bit harsh, and only started liking it when it dried down a lot softer, more like the smell from the bottle. But from my second wear on I also loved the first stage, those flowers drenched in musky powder. This scent feels very glamourous in an old-fashioned way. Longevity is impressive too, it lasts all night.

This is my favorite lipstick scent and the only perfume I’ve tested from this house that I think is worth owning a whole bottle. I find the others that I’ve tried, although nice, to smell too synthetic on my skin for the price; however in this perfume, it really works! A warm, sweet, waxy lipstick smell that envelopes you and lasts quite a while. Nice dry down too. Very feminine. I’m a lover of lipsticks and have always enjoyed sniffing them on occasion just for the fun of it LOL, and this perfume remin
