So I am a die hard Light Blue lover, so when the “eau intense” version came out I was like Omg best fragrance ever! So just a few short weeks, god it might even have been days later I go into Shoppers Drug Mart and see this. I thought it must have something really special or new in that bottle to come out with it so close to the eau intense version. Aaaaaaaaand low and behold, it smells just like the original, everything about it is the same to me. I couldn’t smell a difference, not even in the slightest. Personally, I find it ridiculous-oh poor Dolce and Gabanna…they are so hard up for coin they had to come out with so many new fragrances this year! Pffftttt! Please! What a waste of money for anyone who bought it!!

I swapped for this blind (I have not tested my bottle because she hasn’t gotten her end yet), but my friend just got this in the mail yesterday ~ and I tested it out. I couldn’t wait!
It starts off with a blast of 1/2 light blue and 1/2 LEMON. It’s not lemon cleaner, but it’s also not a sweet lemon candy. If I had to pick one, I guess it’s closer to cleaner… but in a super fun way.
About 10 minutes later, it was a beautiful sweet lemon.
About 20 minutes after spraying, it was a beautiful lemon candy, with hints of the original Light Blue. But it was mostly lemony sweetness ~ almost like lemon sorbet. It’s sweet, but it’s not *creamy* or vanilla-based. So, sorbet.
After that, it’s Light Blue on steroids, with the lemon only barely lingering in the background.
Then it’s Light Blue, without apples, rose, or amber.
On my skin ~ chemistry is everything ~ this has a lot more cedar/musk/iso e super than the original. I would say it has about the same amount as Light Blue Intense. And, now that I’m writing this review (and still getting huge whiffs from the crook of my elbow), I would say that once Italian Zest dries down and loses the lemon, it’s *identical* to Light Blue Intense.
    Recap:
    Lemon LEMON Lemon overload (short-lived)
    Lemon candy/lemon sorbet (short-lived)
    Light Blue Intense
As far as packaging and font, I love it. I agree 100% with FabulouslyLazy and tinabelcher ~ super quirky, 70s beauty products, popsicle stands, and vintage beach signs. I don’t get the hate.

I’m so devoted to D&G Light Blue, have emtied a lot of bottles since it was released in Norway, Bergen, but
this Italian Zest is totally unnessesary,
old wisdom says: Never change a winning team, so
pls no more disturbing and upseting copycats,
    D&G Light Blue is perfect.

to my nose, it’s like a cheap-jack men’s cologne 🙁 i tried it today; on my one arm there was Hermes Voyage and on the other this one, so i can honestly tell that it has no chance against Voyage, no, never 🙁 but we all know that body chemistry and personal tastes vary, i can only advise not to blindbuy.

I was entranced by this perfume at Ulta Beauty. I didn’t buy it at the time, thinking I would find smaller bottles for less cost. That wasn’t happening, except some “sample” sizes on EBay-no, thanks. So I bought some in Sephora after wearing it again around the store. I’m enjoying the light, crisp, summery citrus scent very much! It’s a splurge for me, but I really like it and it shouldn’t offend anyone’s nose like some scents seem to.

The start of this perfume is just amazing.
A beautiful, very realistic lemon, very strong, with sweet hints. It is like a lemon sorbet, with a little bit of champagne, drunk in tall, first-quality glass cups.
This phase lasts about ten minutes…enough to grab the little box, and pay it… Then… it merges an odour (I cannot call it smell) which is litterally horrible. A mixture of ruthless chemicals, something like the water of a vase, in which flowers have whitered and even rotten and a pesdestrian white musk… the kind of musk you can find in a cheap men lotion…
Luckily, lasting power and sillage are weak, so you do not have to suffer them very much.

Light Blue Lovers… this is Light Blue (the original) with a big blast of lemons at the beginning, which is pretty amazing and I wanted that citrus to last… it smelt really good on the skin for an hour….and then the dry down is literally straight up Light Blue.
Maybe layer your original light blue with a layer of lemon…?

I blind purchase every fragrance that I own because of where I live. I am not within a 2-hour distance of any normal shopping. What sold me on purchasing this is the person who said it smelled like mugler cologne. Out of the hundred or more perfumes that I own mugler cologne is my favorite. Only problem is it only last about 20 minutes on my skin. I’m buying this just because of that comment.

Very fresh and Sharp and Clear lemon opening. Not bad, it takes a stand. It kind of reminds me of my husband’s L’Occitane Verbena perfume. Later when it dries Down it becomes more general citrusy and somewhat fruity. You gotta love lemons With this one…

I think this fragrance really reacts with body chemistry. This is not a safe blind buy because I just got it last week and I get a lot of compliments on it. My friend liked it so much that I gave her a decant and it smells like a lemon cleaning agent of some kind on her. It’s is very different on her and not in a positive way. She was shocked because she says it smells more like a slightly citrus spin on the original light blue on me and she says it does not smell synthetic on me. We had other people smell it on us to be sure it wasn’t in our heads. Other people confirmed what we smelled. So I love this because I find it smells really natural on me but it does smell completely different and artificial on my friend. I would recommend going to Sephora and asking for a sample of this and try test wearing it a few days. There are other fragrances I could recommend as blind buys but I think the most important thing about this is that it’s not a safe blind buy in my opinion.
Also I should add that this “female” version is so much better than the “male” version and I think this is unisex. If I were a guy I would wear this version of Zest and not the “male” version. The “male” version does remind me of a cleaning product.

This smells exactly like a lemon zest flavoring you buy for cooking. Youd might as well just dab that on instead! Its very linear and just…odd.

I smell from the bottle today and it reminds me of Mugler cologne that I already have. It’s quite pleasant, lovely cologne type for summer.

Top notes are truly charming. Very realistic, lively lemon! Later it is more like the first Light Blue. Musk, woods. All in all, it’s better Light Blue.

Just tried it , I got a sample and am wearing it
At first very citrusy , but in a nice way
I don’t always care for lemon but this isn’t like dishwasher liquid
It is more a nice fresh lemony vibe , then it goes rather floral and light and too soft maybe !? Nice on a summer day but it isn’t my cup of tea .. still rather pretty and fresh and easy to wear !! I don’t get all the notes may I add no apple not cedar !? It gets like the original in the base, with s little fresh twist,,I like it.

I’ll start off by saying the Light Blue eau intense is my go to, it’s my signature, it’s my fragrant everything lol now, I didn’t find any difference in the original and the intense version aside from the strength and longevity which from the name itself I wasn’t expecting anything different…..I can’t say the same about this. I saw this tonight and thought ohhhhh I bet this is niiiiiice! Sadly I find it the exact same as the OG fragrance with absolutely no difference at all. It really bugs me when a company does that. I would be shocked to learn if anyone found it to be different at all!!

  18. :

It smells almost exactly the same with the original but with more lemons. It is a nice scent but I prefer the original one as the lemon in this one is sweet like a lemon tart and I don’t want to smell like that. But if I just smell it, not wear it, then it’s nice.

  19. :

I like this a lot but it smells exactly like Light Blue except with some lemon thrown in it. I would not suggest owning both – too similar as someone else said. Outside of that it is very citrusy, lemony and a nice summer scent that is light and clean smelling.

I have just acquired this fragrance and I absolutely love it! It is very strong and lemony, like pure lemon zest. I personally love it! Not to strong in my opinion as it sits fairly closely on the body and is moderate in lasting. Similar to the intense but I do love this a tiny bit more.

I just tested it today on my arm and I agree 100% with dzingunyte comment below.
I am a bit disappointed but on the other hand, more cash to spend on another fragrance 😉

  22. :

Definitely not better than original or Eau Intense. More citrusy, doesn’t last long. At least I sprayed just a tiny spray, maybe that’s why. I think there are better citrusy scents on the market for summer time.

I do love this one, it is like a sweet limonade but please, Domenico and Stefano, please, please, bring back Sicily

  24. :

I think this could be more of a refreshing summer perfume you keep in the fridge vs. something you’d wear to dinner. I love lemons, but it’s not for everyone–and of course most citrus scents don’t last long.

  25. :

Smells like Limincello, that sugary sweet vodka infused with lemon zest. I like what it reminds me of, but not something I’d ever think to wear.

  26. :

True as James below states – lemon on steroids. On the card it just smelt like spraying lemons – not sweet but very tangy sour. A heaven scent for lemon lovers who want the spot on scent!

  27. :

    5 out of 5

OMG…. The lemon in this is so strong, zesty doesn’t begin to describe it. I love Light Blue but the lemon in this is so sharp and tart. This isn’t an organic gentle lemon, it’s an angry GMO lemon on steroids!

  28. :

This perfume smells like lots of lemons.
It’s so citrusy, that I somehow misunderstood the name and thought that it’s named Lemon Zest.
The scent is esay to enjoy, very summery, uplifting, fresh and a bit sweet too in a citrusy, nice way.
    It’s like fresh natural lemonade!
    I like it very much!

I love this so much more than the original fragrance. It’s PERFECT for summer ! It smells like a lemonade !

I bought this at the Sephora VIB sale and it arrived today. I ripped open the box to try it and love it! This is a very fresh clean citrus scent and the lemon does not smell like cleaner. It is similar to light blue but not the same. It is perfect for spring and is not overpowering in the heat. It lasts a decent amount of time on me and does not project too far so I can wear it in close quarters without making others gasp for air. I highly recommend this perfume if you want a refreshing lemon scent for spring and summer.

Sunny, bright sugared lemons, with the signature Light Blue touch. The only downside is longevity is not very strong, I find that layering it with a spritz of the original Light Blue makes it a bit stronger. I personally love the packaging, reminded me of drugstore beauty products of the 70s, very whimsical. A blind buy, as I am a big D&G fan- & had & loved Sunset in Salina.

  32. :

    3 out of 5

I had the chance to test it yesterday at D&G’s and I was positively impressed. I guess it was the atmosphere in the boutique, with majolica patterns all over the place, that made me fall for this perfume. Be advised: this is a LEMON BLAST – you must be in the mood for a kingsize lemonade to enjoy this fragrance. I didn’t get the dishwash feeling so there are high chances it will become my next summer signature. Seems to be rather long-lasting and has a non-invasive sillage suitable for dog days.
As for the packaging, I don’t find it that horrible. I think it’s fun, it reminds me of popsicles & vintage beach signs.

If you already own Light Blue/Light Blue Eau Intense then I don’t think you need this, however if I were choosing between this and those two I would choose the Italian Zest without a doubt! It’s like a lemon sorbet, a much zestier and more pure lemon. The original is more of a lemon sherbet, it’s sweeter and the lemon isn’t as tart/sour. Italian Zest really is the zest of the lemon!
Pretty impressed with the fragrance, particularly as I was so dubious to start! I have to say though, I’m not all that keen on the packaging..
I’ve only spritzed half an hour ago so I’ll edit with longevity/performance 🙂

this one is better than original 🙂 yes, it is mostly the same, but the citruss…citruss..it smells so TRUE!! it is more citrusy and zesty!

  35. :

Just tried in my wrist. After some minutes for me it smells like the original with a bit of soury sparkly lemon on top of all. If you have already the orginal i dont think is worth buying this flanker. But definetly smells good 😉

  36. :

    4 out of 5

It seems to be the same font as the original light blue one can see in the upper half of the bottle. So it’s not entirely new and keep in mind the launch date of the original and the style of that decade. Depending on the bottle size it might be just fine and to be fair – the light blue bottles were never competing for prettiest design anyway. They’re practical & simple. Furthermore, this one is not meant to last forever – one summer and then it’s moving aside for the summer 2019 version.
And why all this? Light Blue was one of the main revenue streams of D&G fragrances but tastes have changed, sales declined and so has the perfume game so they’re probably trying to catch up and join the hunting ground that is the yearly summer edition release.
As for the scent – their last version was very close to the original and this one will probably be even more close with more focus on the Sicilian Lemon (?).
Happy sniffing everyone and when does summer actually show up? I’m ready 🙂

ohh guys, it can’t smell good because of the bottle? what’s up if it smells really really good? btw, I like the bottle’s design, it’s funny, colourful, like the old cartoons! Vulgar? yes, like the D&G fashion can be, but they make good stuff too.. Maybe it’s a nice surprise

  38. :

Please stop this horrible flankers D&G and please bring us back Sicily !!!

    That font tho..

  40. :

    5 out of 5

In terms of visuals, this looks wretched. Like a drugstore cologne from ’90-s. I think it’s the cheap, poorly placed font. The popularity of D&G perfumes have been going down lately, but this looks like the final nail to it, sadly.
