I bought this blind, or rather at first spritz, because after all how can verbena ever go wrong? I love verbena, the lemony-ness, the freshness, I would always use it as a an after shower cologne.
Wrong, this was the first verbena perfume I did not like. It was too dry, too woody, not enough verbena, too sour. I literally threw it away after using maybe some 10% after all my family not wanting it.
Do not buy blind, try first.

A sweet verbena scent without the sourness. Very pretty lasts long on skin and low sillage. One of my fav verbena fragrances.

very nice, true verbena scent. I like that its not overly lemony, the chamomile adds a nice sweetness and balances out the citrus. However sometimes the drydown is REALLY powdery, like smells straight like up baby powder on my skin. I am not really into that, but the smell is so light that its not particularly offensive, so whatever.

I am smelling the shower gel of this.
And it is addicting.
I have always found the most famous Verveine du l’Occitane very nice but finally cold then: sad. Algid. In my opinion almost all the fragrances of l’occitane are cold and sad like the Roger & Gallet ones of recent generation, but this is another story.
This fragonard’s version is warm sweet happy and still fresh and green.
It is a green honey acacia lemon scent with pois of light gentle flowers, and it has that typical joyful radiance of the 70s.
Simple, maybe not so unique. But special, perfect blend.
A bycicle summer morning in the grass.
It is a Must for me Now.

Beautiful!!! I love the sweetness of chamomile and benzoin together, smells like chocolate and sugared white flowers. I don’t smell any verbena or lemon. There is a strange leather accord that is sharp but once the drydown is complete it turns into a soft powdery dream thanks to the benzoin.

Verveine is a much gentler interpretation of lemon verbena than L’Occitane’s version, and I think it is better for that. It is also much truer to verbena and generally superior to Crabtree & Evelyn’s Verbena and Lavender.
It is hard to go wrong with verbena scents anyway, unless they are mixed with some totally inappropriate ingredient, and here the choice of chamomile is very nice, adding a little sleepy softness to the wide-awake verbena and lemon.
This is almost everything a verbena fragrance should be – clean, fresh, springlike, uplifting, but with a hint of a deeper herbal sweetness underneath. It isn’t perfect – there’s a touch too much lemon compared to verbena, but it’s a ideal post-shower cologne or office fragrance – I can’t imagine anyone disliking it.

Oh dear, internet reviews seem generally unenthusiastic to anti for this one but when I sniffed it in M&S today, my eyes popped with a surprising burst of instant HAPPY! It’s a lovely sherbet lemon boiled sweetie (hard sugar candy with sharp lemon sherbet powder in the centre). That’s one happy blast from my childhood but the second in the double whammy was that ‘Verveine’ also had a tinge of a long lost but never forgotten childhood Christmas present of mine – Morny Orange Blossom talcum powder – that was fizzy too, and to my young nose and memory forever after, sublimely beautiful. I am a lemon/citrus lover though, and don’t associate lemon with household cleaning products, as it seems many do.
Needless to say, Verveine came home with me. 🙂

I am enjoying wearing it but I shall keep the rest of my sample for summer time. Very fresh. x

I rather smell petit-grain and camomile than lemon or verbena in this fragrance. Disappointment!

Verveine is one of my fragrances this year. Got this one as part of a set at Fragonard and it smells lovely citrusy slightly sweet very summery very uplifting. Cheers your mood. This one I am buying 2 bottles with my next Fragonard order for summer. And it goes into my top 10 of fragrances.Wonderful blend of lemon verbena, lemons, benzoin just a hint of it, chamomile & lovely petitgrain. This is a must have. Both for women and men very nice to have and enjoy!

Very lemony! good for hot weather. I have a sachet of this and I don’t think I’ll buy a full bottle.

I would love to know how this fragrance smells on men. Because on me, it’s just a very boring fresh citrus sent. Staying power is also pathetic, under 2 hours. I agree with fangipani, that it smells like lemon scented hand wipes.

Super sweet and sour lemon candy. My first thought was “Unisex… really?” to someone who’s used to fragrances they will be able to detect different notes and stuff, but I imagine to a normal person it really will just smell like some… lemon… stuff.. i dunno haha.. lemon candy, lemon pledge whatever. The lemon does die down a bit and it’s nicer when it does. I like it, but not as a male fragrance. One guy on another site said this could even be a male only fragrance which I think is almost the opposite of what this is

This scent is amazing! It is interesting, surprisingly versatile, definitely unisex, and did I say amazing? It opens with a huge burst of lemon, like a piece of lemon drop candy, sweet and sour. Rounded out with petitgrain, the citrus scent is a little earthier, like Eau Sauvage but big, Big, BIGGER. And although the citrus burst is eye-opening, the chomomile and verbena soften the otherwise harsh lemon edge. Then, out of nowhere, the benzoin brings everything down to earth, like a picnic blanket in the sun stretched across a patch of cool clover. This is good stuff, plain and simple, and a fine fragrance for spring and summer. I’m reminded of square dancing when I was a child, lemon meringue pies and the cute little redhead down the street all in a playful scene of frivolous energy. Finally, she agrees to dance with me and I can’t stop smelling her!

Another free sachet I received with a Fragonard purchase and the worse thing is because it is on a wipe it makes my interpretation even more apt. It reminds me of the hand wipes you get on after a meal on an aeroplane. It is just so lemony to start but it settles ok I guess but yet again not my thing. The search continues….
