The blend of roses and cloves works in this one. Spicy, but still a fresh rosey rose. It’s hard to find a rose without peonies mixed in. This is realistic but not too bright. Just the right balance of light and shadow. One of the better rose soliflores I know of; more of a perfume in its own right with dominant rose notes than a soliflore. Just a hint of woody notes, too.

This is A great, very natural rose perfume, which reminds me of Sa majeste a la rose by Serge Lutens, but less sweet. Longivity is good, sillage moderate. If all you want is roses, you should defenitly try this one!

I have the cylindrical blue bottle. It is certainly similar to the Perfumer’s Workshop Tea Rose but is much more natural smelling. It would be great for layering, because it’s not strong or complex, but does provide “body” and there won’t be any weird synthetic qualities to generate “off” notes.

Yes it feels natural, roses in the garden and all, great longevity and sillage…but I do not feel it’s a perfume, at least not one I would wear. There’s something in it that reminds me of warm wet soil(fertilizer included)so for those who actually grow roses it might strike a chord, otherwise it’s harsh and pungent and it’s suffocating the roses.

Opens with a bold, spicy, heavy rose, it punches you in the face. Instant love.
But after an hour it dries down into a casual rose fragrance – which has no personality, and a little bit too shy after the intense opening.
Sillage is heavy at the opening, but I’m not entirely satisfied with the longevity. Maybe it’s my skin, because my scarf smells lovely even two days later.

Realising that I got tired from Paul Smith’s “Rose” perfume which got too artificial and musky to my nose I decided to go for another rose scent.
    Never had Molinard before.
From the first sniff it was nice pure rose. On the skin I get cloves which makes the scent a little spicy and warm. Then I can smell honey. I think this clove note gives the impression.
Still not sure whether I like it or not enough I sprayed upholstery an curtains thinking if I don’t like it I will use it as a home fragrance. And I can say that for me IT IS a perfume. It smells rosy and fresh and somewhat little spicy at the same time as if you smell those beautiful roses in the garden.
When cloves come in it can give you kind of headache as it is heavy enough but it does not last long.
In the dry down I can smell freshly cut wood dried by the sun.
In the morning I can still smell dry down note in my hair.
Think that it might sound even better on a cool day. Will see.

Agree with previous reviewers – a very natural, pure tea-rose.
I layered it today with rose body butter from The Body Shop, it intensified the smell… as a rose-lover – I’m in heaven!

Upon first applying this scent on the skin, the first blast – a punch in your face, truly! – is carnation.
I was puzzled – I thought it must not be Rose.
    Where’s the rose?
The rose is behind the scenes, powdering her nose, applying some make up, giving the finishing touches, ready for a grand entrée on center stage.
Here’s the rose, there she is!
Beautiful, big, opulent, selfish, demanding your attention.
    A queen, for sure.
The carnation subsides little by little while the rose becomes more and more prominent, like a diva all alone for her superlative performance.
Surely not a shy rose, not girly, not pinky, but a classy rose, confident, impeccable, self assured, a bit commanding.
Very strong too with enormous sillage and lasting power.
    BEAUTIFUL.

I have beautiful pink roses around my door that smell like this, I believe it to be one of the purest rose smells there is, with a hint of carnation cloveyness which is gorgeous and just a whiff of newborn baby head – mums you know what I’m talking about!
This makes me feel lovely and relaxed after a soak, it lasts better on your hair than skin and I also soak cotton wool balls in it and scent draws with it, lasts for ages!
It’s so reasonable that I don’t mind having to reapply it’s just lovely scent that I’ll definitely keep restocking!
If you want a rose scent that isn’t dusty old or fizzy young just garden rose this it the one, go on you won’t regret it!

This is the perfume equivalent to a rose scented punch in the face. I wanted to like this, but it just made me feel ill.

A face full of roses! It reminds me of the parma violet sweets that I could buy as a child. Innocent and lilac. It also reminds me of the rose essential oil that I used to pay a fortune for. I am not getting any woods or spices, just a huge rose scent, and then after a short time, sandalwood peeks its nose in, just to say hello. A blind buy for me, but I like it. It is an enormous, fresh rose! Very girly indeed!

Very, very spicy rose. I received this in the same shipment as SL’s La Fille de Berlin, and I find it curious that the other one, while listing peppercorn as a note, is nowhere near as spicy as this. Quite enjoyable, and the tea rose really does shine. Great quality fragrance for the price, but I think I still prefer La Fille de Berlin or even JHAG’s Mad Madame for a rose soliflore. Still, I will probably reach for this consistently in the future, since the price cannot be beat!

I love roses and I love this fragrance! The first spray is intoxicatingly rose! what a bast to my senses! Pure unadulterated rose delight! This gorgeous top note lasts for well over an hour for me then the transitions starts. I smell a mix of soft roses and warm green tea. Again this phase lasts for a couple of hours. The dry down is an exquisite lay soft, powdery almost earthy rose. Hours later and I still smell it! Sillage and longevity are amazing. I highly recommend for fellow rose lovers!

I bought this bottle blind at winners for 30$ (100ml) since I like the sent of roses. At first, it smells like light roses but on a closer sniff, it smells something that I would smell during Christmas; it has a spicy gingerbread smell but that must be the woody notes. I quit like this fragrance and it does have a tea element to it!

I regard Molinard with the same reverence as I do with such perfumeries as Dyptique.
But today I am in tea rose heaven with this beautiful fragrance.
The rose is so vintage, so utterly natural that I am transported to an English country garden in summer, where I will sip tea and eat cucumber sandwiches on the lawn, surrounded by the smell of roses.
I am engulfed by the silence of a warm summers’ day, an azure blue sky, gentle breeze and the cries of children playing in the distance, birds quietly twittering and a bumble bee busily buzzing around a bush of pink roses.
I just love the place that this scent takes me to and if you are a lover of rose scents, especially vintage rose, then this is an absolute must to have in your collection.
Sillage and longevity are amazing, especially for an EDT.
The price does not reflect the quality of this perfume, I would pay much more for it if I had to.
    Another Molinard vintage masterpiece!

Molinard Rose deserves an honorable mention among all rose soliflores I’ve tried. It’s a dominant tea rose which is intensified by another floral note (carnation by looking at the notes pyramid.) I couldn’t tell by just smelling it however; it is very well blended. I don’t particularly get any woody notes in the dry down. Just a pink rose – from top to bottom – albeit super strong, with a green freshness to it all the way. With only 2 sprays on either side of the neck, this perfume flaunts outstanding projection and lasting power by drifting 3 steps ahead of you for 12+ hours. I see it as a versatile fragrance that can be worn either casually or for a special occasion depending on the mood & personality of the wearer. Most soliflores don’t stand out as remarkably unique scents IMHO; they rather serve to satiate the personal appeal of the wearer. This charming little number, however, just might be special enough to be a signature to a rose/floral lover. Recommended!

I completely agree with Olga1780’s review ! This is super strong stuff ! The spices and roses are so intense ! Spices and rose are of equal intensity, and remain that way. From first spray, this frag does not change. Very unusual perfume ! STRONG siliage and VERY long lasting !

This is one BIG smelling Rose for shure like Olga 1780 is saying is so true . this is thrue the roof strone. Tea rose whit a twist off tea . not like Paul Smith Rose , Much stronger and bold i would say . this lasts and lasts on my skin for a long long time , This perfume to me is a bit anoying actualy , it is to much in your face . Like a bouquet off flowers stuffed in your face all the time , It is nice the first minuts , but then it gets anoying.. Actualy this im shure will make my head hurts if i put on to much . to strong and loud . spicy in a syntetich way ( at least to me )
I wanted to try this and got a decant in a swap. im so glad i dident blind bought this one .to much off a good thing .. Would recomend spraying lightly if used in public 😉

Wow, this is some strong stuff! I didn’t expect that for sure. I was not even sure if I liked it right away because it was so intense and because I had never smelled anything like that before. What an interesting and different take on the rose. A mixture of green tea and those light pink tea roses (not sure if that’s the right name). It is definitely very natural smelling and extremely refreshing, but not a wrist sniffer for sure, because it is very concentrated.
I definitely like it. Great for hot summer days and sports. Casual, but not boring. Simple and complex at the same time, i don’t find it cheap or linear smelling. And the best part is sillage and longevity are through the roof!

because i love the review this guest made, i am going to translate it. it’s one of the most accurate descritions i’ve ever read here.. (you should join us!)
“The beautiful fragrance remade in 1960 and again in 1994 is a composition based on the creation of Molinard in 1900.
Soliflore scented faithful to Old Rose – Tea Rose.
Of intense sillage and great fixation, it seems slightly tempered by accents of black tea, musk and sandalwood.
Almost fruity, the aroma perfectly evokes the lush gardens of roses.
    Lovely.”
