Description
The more powerful, seductive and masculine version of the first iconic Le Male fragrance by Jean Paul Gaultier comes to the market under the name LE MALE In The Navy in August 2018. The fragrance comes in the recognizable flacon of a male torso, this time in dark blue with white stripes; it’s the navy style that Gaultier favors and adores. The outer packaging, the can, is decorated with two sailors who test their strength and a pin-up girl, showing that there’s no time for feeling bored on that ship!
LE MALE IN THE NAVY exclusively appeared in Macy’s stores announced as an embodiment of sexiness. His composition begins with icy peppermint, creating an overture for the salty oceanic notes that dominate the heart of the scent, followed by vanilla and ambergris in the base notes. “All these notes characterize the ultimate sexy sailor.”
The fragrance Le Male In The Navy is composed by the perfumers Quentin Bisch and Nathalie Gracia-Cetto.
The latest Jean Paul Gaultier “sailor” is available as a 125ml / 4.2oz Eau de Toilette and as a 200ml / 6.7 oz Eau de Toilette.

Much improved scent over the original Le Male. The Le Male has that grime, sweat vibe lurking in the fragrance, however this is a much better scent to go with. Flankers offer differences, and this was done well. Heard it’s similar to the Superman, and Popeye (I smelled one of them once), and it was in the same vein, though I didn’t do a side-by-side.
Nice scent, though I wouldn’t buy it. It doesn’t have enough of a stand-out power, and doesn’t fulfill a need i.e. seasonal, occasion, etc. If you’re going with a GPG, just get UltraMale.

I was so excited when I herd of this frag and one of the perfumers Natalie.. I loved her le male eau fraiche. Not only that but the notes. When i realized it was a Macy’s exclusive I was totally upset and frustrated. Why would jpg make a fragrance exclusive to a store that does not ship out of country. Leaving out so many fans!!! Luckily I guy I know on eBay got me sold Me one. I had to since I’m a big le male fan. In the navy does not disappoint!! It’s amazing!! I love this scent and is a compliment magnet!! It definitely has a invictus vibe that salty marine aquatic wonderfully done. But with in the navy there’s a minty freshness in the opening alongside that invictus vibe. Once the mint dies down the Vanilla comes to light. Leaving you with a salty watery marine aquatic with a vanilla background. It’s so so nice! And it’s not a slouch either! People saying it’s terribly weak ???? It’s not obnoxious and loud where your gonna smell it twenty feet away and taste it!! Like some are. Not all frags are meant to be loud and obnoxious. Some are meant to be more casual and not suffocate everyone in the room. This frag won’t fill the room. But it will garnish compliments from those who matter. When this frag first arrived I sprayed myself. And four or five days later the shirt still smells amazing.

Nice fragrance I like it. Different and rich. Sweet, spearmint, well blended, though you are dealing in synthetics here. Could compare to Prada Luna Rossa, but this is better.

Smells good but it’s terribly weak! Not worthy of a purchase

Nope, they are selling Ultra Male….brought back by popular demand.

Why is Ultra Male featured in the promo images? Isn’t it discontinued?
Xangerei – :
Eh. In the opening i get eros vibes bc of the peppermint/sweetness but then it starts to smell closer to YSL eau Electrique without the slight warmth of the la nuit dna. It seems very light so far. I can barely smell it ? Not sure if it’s olfactory fatigue. Scent-wise it’s a pass for me since I enjoy both Eros and Eau Electrique.
I get no aquatic notes. Just vanilla, peppermint, and a slight soapiness (lavender?). Definitely a try before you buy.

Personally this is quite enjoyable. If you were a fan of the old Invictus Aqua I’m sure you could get down to this. For certain if you like Dunhill Icon Racing you should like this as well. It’s also reminiscent of English Laundry Oxford Bleu. To me it is an aquatic Dunhill Icon Racing. Not bad if you ask me but nothing groundbreaking or new. You have definitely smelled this before.

Uh oh. This is completely unoriginal and derivative. A shameless attempt to cash in on the fruity/salty/abroxan trend started by Sauvage, and followed up by Dylan Blue/Invictus Aqua/Aqva Atlantique/Luna Rossa Carbon/Legend Spirit/I’m sure there are tons of others…
For the record, I’m not too snobby to say I’m actually a fan of Sauvage and some of those other fragrances. Yes they’re synthetic, but they do have their strengths, and can smell fantastic in the right situation.
This fragrance however, has been a huge letdown, and doesn’t belong in the Le Male family at all, save for a muddled and muted version of the lavender note that shines so brightly in the original. Reviewer below me RobKY is spot on, this fragrance is essentially a mixture of Invictus Aqua and Versace Eros.
The opening is decidedly Invictus Aqua/Legend Spirit with a salty/fruity abrox sledgehammer, with some of the aforementioned muddled lavendar hiding underneath and the sweet minty note from the Popeye/Superman eau fraiche version distinguishing it from being slavish copies of those two openings. After about 30 minutes, that fades and the vanilla/tonka base shows up but it’s not the Le Male vanilla you’re hoping for, no it’s the one that’s been ripped straight from Versace Eros/English Laundry Oxford Bleu. Not a bad drydown, but as I said before, completely unoriginal. It’s like they tried to mix together pieces of other popular designer scents to try to create their own thing here, but it’s just confusing and a mess.
Save your money guys, and get bottles of Invictus Aqua or Mont Blanc Legend Spirit and Eros from discounters online. While I’m not a huge fan of either of those scents, at least they’re cohesive attempts at a fragrance, and are relatively original.
This is a hard pass.

When do we see this in Sweden?
IL-5corpion – :
For me – and I only tried it one time – this is a mix between Le Male Classic and Invictus Aqua or Gaultier Popeye – but it has nothing in common with Azzaro Wanted like someone said!
In the beginning the mint note is very dominant with a hint of vanilla, in the dry down there is no more mint (which fades really quick), just aquatic notes with a tiny bit of vanilla. Longevity is okay, sillage is on the weak side. A summer scent.

Keep on moving…..nothing new to see here, as usual. JPG is the king of flanker bombing the market. Just do yourself a favor and be happy with Superman or Popeye if you have them. In the Navy is the same as them. The same minty, vanilla dna, that most of the Le Male flankers have.
woop – :
A JPG mix of minty Eros and fresh Invictus Aqua. Sweet and salty but nothing new. 2 sprays toned down after 1-2 hours but lasted for about 12 hrs on my arm. I loved it at first but started growing tired of it as it lingered through the night. I can see where Ultra Male and Popeye fans will love it but many seeking something original will pass.

Again? Really? Stop commenting if you haven’t even tried the damn thing. ONCE AGAIN, ANYONE THAT READS THIS – DOWNVOTE each and every single comment you see on review pages like this before they’ve even tried the frag. Including this comment. Hopefully it’ll get enough exposure so other people start serial downvoting non-reviews on the review pages. Ugh.
