I bought this a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve been really excited to make a review for this fragrance. I bought my bottle for around $39 Sept. 2018. As of October 2018, this is $48-50+. Secondly, I wear Green Irish Tweed anytime I leave home. It is my signature scent. I love it. It’s my favorite. I wear Knight at home mostly.
I’ll start off by saying I do like this fragrance. I experienced Green Irish Tweed before I experienced this fragrance. I wore Green Irish Tweed at the beginning of the week and it was wonderful. A woman I work with complimented me highly on it. The next day I wore L’Aventure Knight. The same woman that complimented me before, said “Oh, you have that good smelling stuff on again”. The next day, I got a “Are you wearing Cool Water?”, by a male co-worker. This day I did 4 sprays, and it was pretty strong. One woman said I smelled nice, but she could smell me across the room. There are the personal experiences.
Now, on to how this actually smells and comparisons to Green Irish Tweed, which this is trying to be. This starts off extremely bitter with a tea note. On paper it takes about 20-30 minutes for this to dissipate. On skin, this took about 15-20 minutes for me. The tea note is extremely noticeable, and you’re either going to dislike it or like it. It completely drowns out almost everything else. I barely even got the bergamot. I don’t like the tea note, and I think the biggest weakness of this fragrance is the opening. Green Irish Tweed starts out much richer, lush, and overall more vibrant. I actually like the opening of Green Irish Tweed more than it’s coveted dry down. Anyway, Knight eventually does leave the tea note behind. It’s at this point, it starts resembling Green Irish Tweed. Green Irish Tweed is greener and Knight is muskier / powderier. There is the classic Green Irish Tweed sweetness present in Knight, but it is juxtaposed by the powder and slight musk. Knight is never as vibrant as Green Irish Tweed. Still has a likeable tone to it though. It has the green fresh sweetness present in Green Irish Tweed. And, this part is where Knight does a great job compared to any other fragrance trying to be like Green Irish Tweed. The quality of Knight is outstanding. From top to bottom, the notes are very well blended and high quality. You could tell a person you spent over $150 and they would believe you with Knight. It’s definitely blended well. I think the quality is about 80-90% as good as Green Irish Tweed. Don’t let anyone else convince you this is “synthetic”. It’s not. At all. I can’t hammer that point in enough. If you like Green Irish Tweed, then you will like this fragrance after it settles down. It’s a fantastic fragrance for the money. Comparisons and ratings below:

I based the value per $ on how good the fragrance is vs how much it costs. I didn’t base it on cost alone. The quality of Knight is outstanding. This is not a synthetic mess like the current Cool Water formulation. You will not get a headache from this fragrance even if you sprayed a lot. Because, this fragrance is high quality. On that note, I don’t think you should spray more than 2-3 sprays for the office. The day I wore 4 sprays, I knew it was too much. Four should be fine if you’re outside or in an open area. This seems to have almost identical performance and projection compared to Green Irish Tweed. But, people want to know if this is a clone, right? I’ve seen reviewers say that Tres Nuit is 99% similar to Green Irish Tweed. I’ve seen people say the same thing for Cool Water. I can tell you right now, Tres Nuit is not 99% the same as Green Irish Tweed. It is closer to 50-60%. It is really sweet. It is reasonably synthetic. It’s not as synthetic as Aspen or Cool Water though. To an advanced nose I’d say Knight is 60-65% similar to Green Irish Tweed. To an experienced nose I’d say it’s about 70-80%. And, to most normal people it is about 90% the same. In the air, there are even less differences. If you’ve smelled Green Irish Tweed it’s an easy blind buy. If you can get past the super strong tea opening, then give it a try. I really like it, and I can be a fragrance snob to a degree. But, this stuff is appreciable.
Should you buy this? That depends on how much you like Green Irish Tweed. Green Irish Tweed is my favorite. Paying $200 is nothing to me for it, because I like it so much. But, if you think Green Irish Tweed is just okay, then maybe this is not for you. I wouldn’t purchase Knight if you aren’t on at least the “strong like” train for Green Irish Tweed.
This is NOT a replacement for Green Irish Tweed. But, it does give me a similar feeling that Green Irish Tweed has after some time. I wear this when I want a similar vibe but don’t want to use the good stuff.
Overall, this starts off with a bitter tea note. Then, it goes into a slightly musky and powdery version of Green Irish Tweed. After a few hours it smells very close to Green Irish Tweed and is a little sweet. Don’t buy this thinking it’s Green Irish Tweed at a cheap price though. It’s not. It is just a somewhat similar experience at best.
