Lots of lavenders tend to smell like pickles on me, but not this one! C&E’s Lavender starts off with brisk realistic lavender and dries down to a clean fresh powdery and creamy lavender soap-soft, never harsh as lavender can sometimes be. I love it.
There isn’t really much else to complicate the lavender, and the drydown is as pretty as the opening; something which I almost never find to be the case with lavender-centric scents. It’s soft and doesn’t last very long but I’m definitely okay with that.
I don’t get anything close to a masculine/barbershop or dryer sheets feeling with this- it’s much more botanical than that. Perfectly unisex and reminiscent of a high end face cream. So good! It’s getting quite hard to find this, so I was overjoyed when I found a huge bottle for $5. Smells way more refined than five bucks.

I’m very into lavender, but I’ve always found it hard to find a clean lavender that suits me. The closest match was L’Occitane’s Eau de L’Occitan, but it’s intended more for a male and indeed, it’s a little too crisp for me to wear regularly.
Enter Lavender by Crabtree and Evelyn. This lavender is just how I imagine a pure, clean lavender perfume to be. It has very creamy, warm, medicinal lavender notes and it’s just perfect on my skin. Don’t be fooled into thinking that this is a one-trick pony, though. Top notes, with their citrusy nuances, are a little crisper and fresher than the base notes, which radiate warmth and herbal scents instead. Longevity and sillage leave a lot to be desired but I understand that most lavender perfumes are just soft by default. If you’re looking for pure lavender perfume which has cleaner, almost herbal floral scent, give this a try. Excellent lavender without any of those silly frilly headache-inducing overly sweet floral notes commonly found in modern days sugary perfumes.

Recently I feel really drawn to lavender. I use lavender essential oil in a diffuser to help me sleep but that kind of lavender is not what I would want to smell like myself !! This EDT though, I love putting this on before going to sleep. Don’t be mislead by the name – this is a a well balanced light soft scent you can splash over generously. The lemon and violet leaf add freshness without making it harsh, it quickly mellows into a soft skin scent. Too bad it doesn’t last long, but as I said it’s usually a bed time pillow companion for me until I drift away to sleep. otherwise I could imagine wearing it on a warm summer day or perhaps when being active outdoors. Thumbs up but I probably won’t repurchase when my small bottle is empty.

Truth be told, I’m not a lover of lavender as such, but after I’d tested this delicate lavender edt on a couple of occasions in the Crabtree & Evelyn store I gave in to its innocent charm.
The lavender top note is not harsh, but clean and a little powdery. It’s comforting and soothing without smelling like an apothecary. I love how the tonka bean and musk provide a slight sweetness and warmth underneath the lavender, giving it a bit of a snuggle factor.
It is not very long lasting on my skin, but since it’s almost an aromatherapy of sorts I wouldn’t think it would be necessary to smell like this all day.

My mother who loves the smell of fresh lavender bought this perfume but didn’t like it. To her, it smelled more like cologne but I, on the other hand, love the woodsy lavender smell with a hint of lemon. Unfortunately, my husband can’t tolerate the smell of lavender or I’d wear this all summer.

There are those hot, clammy summer days when the only scent I will tolerate is Dove soap – and this one. Very fresh, clean, powdery.

I like this fragrance, it is nice, fresh and herbal. The lavender isn’t overpowering….
But, it doesn’t last on me, by mid-morning it has disappeared.
    Wouldn’t purchase again, slightly disappointed.
Have revised my opinion, since I posted my review in April 2014, as although the longevity is not great, the light lavender scent makes up for it.

I didn’t like its predecessor, which reminded me of a harsh lavender smell.
    But this, I like.
This is a powdery lavender with the initial zing of lemon. It is delicate, soft yet there is something sensual about it, like a seemingly virginal girl with a sexual edge to it. It is herbaceous and powdery, something I’m beginning to adore in this sweltering weather. I was not a lavender lover but started using this as my friend didn’t want it. I’m thinking of getting the 100ml bottle during the Christmas sale. I’ve been using the 30ml bottle regularly and it’s still not running out. 🙂

this perfume smells rather antiseptic and therapeutic herbal rather than a perfume. I can see why some people complain about the smell. People that are into herbal and natural medicinal fragrances might enjoy this product. It’s not your average fruity sweet or even floral mainstream fragrant. If you like lavender smell, this is it. Lavender is usually good for calming the mind spirit, take away headache, relaxinh. It takes away depression, pain, insomnia, and restlessness. It takes a bit to get used to lavender. Once you learn to enjoy it, the lavender scent can be addictive due to it’s therapeutic effects. I don’t hate this fragrant. I just wouldn’t use this fragrant to go and seduce a man…lol… it just has that medicinal smell like camphor, peppermint, eucalyptus, and a host of other herbal extract used as medicine. Ben gay??? perhaps. I love to use lavender as a medicine. Wonderful healing effects.

A soft, maillette lavender, with a juicy kick of lemon. I don’t find the lemon note harsh, at all, and I like the subtley green, mineral undertone of the violet leaf. The tonka bean gives an otherwise, very fresh blend, a dose of distant, nocturnal warmth, with that quirky, hazlenut-coffee-with-anise sweetness that tonka bean often brings to a blend.
Maillette lavender is often sweeter and more floral than the brisker, hybrid versions or the astringent herbal scent of lavandin (a cousin of lavender). Even though I find the maillette to be more feminine because of this, as always, lavender is completely unisex and this blend is suitable for men, women and everyone in between, without causing a creative crisis for The Public. It’s just a soft, dreamy lavender with a little dash of lemon. The tonka bean keeps it from becoming too sterile and cleaner-fresh.
I like it very much for its similarity to a Borsari sample I once had, of a now discontinued, Italian cologne: “Roma Notte”. Both share notes of tonka bean and “royal blue/purple” notes, like violet leaf and lavender, with hint of varied citruses.

This stuff is truly like bug spray…very astringent and dirty smelling. I actually returned it to the shop.

it is awful, really. it smells like a mosquito repellent. it is definitely not a perfume, maybe like a toilet refresher..
unwearable intensive lavender notes and nothing more

An interesting twist on traditional lavender, warmed with violet and tonka bean. It has more reasonable longevity than many lavenders, and while it retains the clear, clean lavender note, the background is much warmer and has a slight sensuous note thanks to the additional notes. Very wearable, certainly not as cold and herbaceous as other versions. Nice, casual, easy to wear.
