Description

L’Antimatière is an unique and mysterious animalistic fragrance. It doesn’t possess the head note of the composition; with ambergris and musks, it represents an invisible scented ink of a light trail. Minimalistic, sexy and dirty are the words to describe it. It was created by the nose Isabelle Doyen.

Available as 50 ml EDP.

GENIUS! I love this with all my heart !! There is nothing in the world like this , all she requires is T I M E . I am talking hours of time , spend the night with it time and see what you experience in the mornign time . This is beautiful , i dont get any of the notes listed but the musk ~maybe something else i dont know what but its devine. not clean not fresh not purfume but an essence you want to be close to . Its warm its like a good hug that makes you smile Just Because…At first you smell NOTHING you think BUT this needs to adapt to YOU , your chemistry, give her half a chance with maybe 3 days wearing nothing but this and she will unlock her mystery to you and you will fall in love. (try this on your panties and smell them the next day ) Woo hooo ! XXX~ you cant tell me this isnt worth every penny. Best wishes!

I’m drawn to minimalist skin scents for the same reasons I’m drawn to a shiny new piece of tech: the unspoken promise of augmented efficiency. When done well, such barely-there aesthetics can feel more like a slight customization of one’s present state rather than a full transformation. But many of the scents in this style disappoint me, affirming that the balance between minimal and substantial is profoundly difficult to get right. L’Antimatiere doesn’t quite cut it for me. It’s basically a thin sheet of mineralic synthmoss, a furry cashmeran effect, and a bubble of laundry musk. Although I don’t find it to be as contrived as the industrial-chic genre can be, there’s not enough going on for it to establish itself as anything more than a smattering of chemicals. It’s a shame as I thought I’d genuinely like this one given the descriptions I’d read. If you like the genre, I’d still recommend giving it a sniff, but CdG’s Odeur 53 and Nu_Be’s Oxygen get the job done better.

Invisible as advertised. The faintest hint of soapy musk, nice, clean, but pretty much nothing else. It is a nice skin scent and perhaps it would wear well if put on in more quantity, but seems expensive for a barely-there scent.Still, if it cost less, I would probably grab some, for the easy, clean base scent it is.

Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t help thinking of that children’s book, “The Emperor’s New Clothes”. Water has more of a scent than this “perfume”. I can’t believe I was on a waiting list for it for more than a year!

I agree with pretty much what everyone else has said so far, well the positive bits at least. This is a strange one, that does not have any negative connotation though. It is more like a smell than a scent, it does smell as good as warm skin or snuggling into your cat’s fur or any security blanket one might crave for. Musk, amber, animalic, balsamic- all checked and present. It’s an unclean musk without being loud and dirty like MKK. It’s a way better skin scent than any of the Narciso Rodriguez line that I tried and tried but failed to fall in love with. Where NR is brash and fries my nose, this is subtle and smells like rumpled sheets-covered skin literally, I leave the rest of the scene to be interpreted. I can barely smell it on me but yet I still detect its presence. Does that make sense? It’s like a soft glow around oneself, you can’t see it or feel it or really smell it, but you know that it’s there. I do agree that people around oneself will be drawn to this quiescent yet fascinating and undoubtedly appealing smell. There is something touchingly innocent yet charged with raw delectable sensuality about this teasing “anti-matter” and it is worth at least a sample just to have this unique experience in the olfactory world. Sillage as the others have said is right on the skin but longevity is fabulous. It makes me want lazy Sunday mornings with the loved lover after a fabulous night on the tiles, to last all week.

è senza note di testa: appena lo spruzzi addosso sembra acqua salvo poi svilupparsi dopo circa un’oretta. quindi sa di pelle pulita! non ti aspettare la scia però: te lo sniffi e te lo godi solo tu. è una genialata!

This reminds me of the base of ‘Musc Nomade’- a very-low basenote: slightly-animalic, slightly amber-powdery, slightly woody (does anyone else smell a whisper of vetiver?), slightly waxy/fatty. Nut-like. Makes my skin smell good, and hovers within a few inches. If anything, it reminds of the scent that rises from paved walkways in a park, wet with rain, warming in the sun. And brittle twigs snapped in two. And clarified butter. And the skin of waxed fruit. This would be nice on days when you don’t have a need to project, when you feel like turning inward; quiet solitude, breathing, being- with clean and delicately-scented skin.

is simply a joke….maybe funny maybe not, a little musky and a lot of nothing…really nothing

Paper & Ink… the smell of a newly published book.
I love the gentle musk note… I don’t get the amber note at all. There is a saltly vaguely metalic note to it & a hint of mint. It reminds me a little of Molecule 01.
I agree with Scentzilla… I too would love for this to be the natural scent of my skin. Newness, niceness… easy on the nose!

This to me smells a bit like Spicy honey cake .. i had to think hard what it was remining me off and this was it. Also i feal a kind off waxines in it. close to skin. almost like the smell off warm skin in away.maybe a tad bozzy.. i dont know what that comes from , but i feal a tiny boozyness aswll. almost like a warm milky drink whit some kind off nutty.honeylike alcohol.. Good , but a bit strange .. a staying home kind off cosy scent IMO

An absolute GENIUS of a fragrance ! ~ Luv it , luv it , LUV IT !!!
This has surely got to be THE master of “Skin-Scents” !? If I were able to chose how I’d want my own skin to smell naturally, this would be it !
It’s therefore my immediate go-to fragrance whenever I’m not particularly in the mood to be too overtly scented (or just can’t make up my mind ;o) and just want to have “naturally” good smelling skin. As it’s not exactly a very “perfume” perfume type scent. And more bound to elicit a compliment such as : “you smell good” as apposed to : “the fragrance you wearing smells good”.
I think it’s one of the best “skin-musk” scent on the market ! And also one of the best pure plain unadorned representations of the scent of natural true authentic ambergris. (At least it certainly smells very closely redolent of my genuine whale “hair-ball” ambergris tincture.)
Though barely perceptible at times, it’s nevertheless still incredibly tenacious, lasting easily a good 12hrs or more on my skin. Though very light at first, it does unusually increase in potency as it progresses, becoming much stronger towards the heart and drydown of the scent. It never however becomes loud or heavy, preferring to stay close to the skin throughout.
An accomplished minimalist fragrance, though certainly not for everyone.
It’s unusual character and definitive musky “animalic” nature bound to make it one of those dividing “luv-it” or “hate-it” type scents. You’ll either “get-it” and enjoy it’s innovative concept, or just won’t nor even understand those who might. It’s lack of immediate scent is due mostly to the missing usual top-notes. The scent only beginning to “bloom” on the skin about 30 to 45 min after first being spray. ~ It’s a brave perfumer who composes & releases a fragrance lacking in all top-notes. (Seeing as these are usually what most base their immediate impressions of a scent upon). …
I especially suggest therefore that sampling first would be most wise. This is not a scent to risk a “blind buy” on, that’s for sure ! …
In the light of all these reasons, I think the quirky naming of L’Antimatière’s (i.e. Antimatter) is particularly witty and actually most fitting. And also especially as it will serve too as an interesting particularity. As L’antimatière is composed of mostly a cocktail of just various musks and little else. It therefore will work perfectly as a sort of musk anosmia detector. ~ So if you happen to be one of those who thinks L’antimatière smells like just a quick burst of alcohol followed by no scent at all. Unable to smell pretty much anything throughout the entire life of the scent. (Although do remember to wait that “30/45min buffer” I mentioned earlier, before coming to an erroneous conclusion). Then it’s quite probable that you’re one of the approx’ ±3% unfortunate musk anosmics.
~ How cool is that !?

I do not know actually why i feel so attracted to this fragrance – it is very simplistic, minimalistic yet excitingly disturbing in a way …
i can agree to the reviewers below it is sawdust and it is rain… or maybe both a little. and there is a little sweetness to it at the same time.
when i was thinking about a context, a picture, a story, a geisha popped into my mind. Their body was covered all up yet they knew how to excite with their minds/body language/mystery behaviour. I tend to think Antimatiere could be something like this… there is nothing less appealing to me in a fragrance then the obviousness. Let them wonder what struck them I say haha
Will see how it turns out on the longer run and whether full bottle worthy. Glad to test it again and again.

L’Antimatiere opens with an almost disturbing blast of pure alcohol (maybe due to the lack of top notes) that quickly evolves in a bizarre mash-up between a sort of “unscented lipstick” note and slightly sweet sawdust. In this phase the fragrance is barely perceptible yet not very pleasant. After an hour or so, something starts to change and you realize that ambergis is clearly playing its main role giving the fragrance a sense. This is the best part where L’Antimatiere claims your attention with its subtle “musky” charm. This effect is going to last for many hours as this composition is barely perceptible but very tenacious.

Overall L’Antimatiere is more of a smell than a proper fragrance. It reminds me of the good smell of unscented skin that only some people have. Subtile, almost undetectable but unique and fascinating. Now, my point is this: who would spend money on a pricey fragrance just to smell pleasantly unscented?

I can’t say I don’t like this composition but “the experiment”, IMO, it’s only partially successful but this is still something to experience.
Lasting Power: more than 8 hrs
Sillage: Well, while someone says this fragrance stays close to the skin I more believe L’Antimatiere to have a “bizarre” sillage. You think nobody will notice it, instead everybody think “you-smell-good-even-when-you-don’t-wear-a-fragrance”.

On first dab, this was light and sweet, with a little anise, a little tobacco, smelling like an all-natural tincture of herbs, causing me to shake my head thinking, “another one of those. It’ll all be gone in half an hour”. However, after a few minutes a skin musk developed, probably a mix of various “white” musks along with the tiniest dab of ambroxan or something in that family.
As it develops, it becomes sweeter, at least on my skin, at one point taking on an almost floral laundry-detergent quality. Then some woody notes appear, always very subtle, coming and going like a will-o’the-wisp. After about an hour I start getting the “greasy unwashed hair” notes that others mention, although the laundry detergent is always there along with them.
If I hadn’t read the blurbs that say there are no top notes (not exactly true, by the way), I’m not sure I would have had the patience needed to let L’Antimatiere develop from washed laundry to unwashed laundry, which I suppose reflects the natural course of events. This scent is fairly minimalistic in some ways, but complex in others. If you want to put in the time sniffing it out, it’s a moderately interesting exercise. I would venture a guess that it develops very differently on different people. It would be interesting to know if there’s a correlation between the development of L’Antimatiere and that of DSH’s Formula X, which is supposed to be diagnostic of the way skin type interacts with perfume.
