I agree with ChristinaSegal. The first impression is wonderful, citrus, rose, musk, like an old parisian perfume style, but then it all quickly dies away, leaving a sort of sherbetty musty smell.

i wear the old version ,the bottle is more esthetic ,and the perfume is more interessant than the new one ,more deeper just like his name :nocturnes …..if you can ,keep the older!!

Caron’s Nocturnes EDP does an interesting number on my skin: for the first 5 minutes it starts off as a glamorous powdery, musky, and jasmine perfume of the 50ies and 60ies. In the next 5 minutes the rose appears and dominates. The dry down is actually very tropical and I swear I can sense pineapple in it as well. Worthy of consideration if you love older Parisian perfumes.

Never has a fragrance been so misnamed–Nocturnes is a day scent if there ever was one. I don’t have the original to compare, but this Nocturnes still evokes 1981, which I mean as a compliment. It’s elegant, sophisticated, and very polite–certainly no longing or disturbance, as Tovah found in an earlier reformulation. Longing and disturbance is a Caron specialty, but not here. Nocturnes’ modus operandi is loveliness–I wish I’d bought it for my late, beyond-lovely grandmother.

its longevity is poor on me. (i have a dry skin)and i get only woody notes with a hint of rose. i wish it would be more powerful because the scent is good and worths to buy.

Totally different from the original! I didn´t like it!

First impression was , hmmm not so original. I did to pick up orange but a lot of musky patchouli at first. It does seems to have the lovely undercurrent of a powdery same which I think is the signature Caron identity. On my skin after 30 min I can’t say it is as good as Parfum Sacre. Glad I have it in the wardrobe but I wouldn’t wear it to seduce, it’s good for the boardroom it talks business. I consider this a mature scent for a strong woman. Which I am but it could be even too old for me. There is no frivolity in this aroma at all so maybe that why I can’t enjoy it as much as some other Caron scents.

I don’t understand why they’ve changed the bottles ? The new one are so boring 🙁

Tried my sample just about 30 minutes ago and I am saddened. It is already disappearing on my skin. The first note was absolute citrus, then I sensed the rose/floral and a definate musk. This is such a soft perfume, so soft that its dissapearing…If it were to last longer I weould absolutely purchase. Perhaps its just the sample they sent me. Please dont be discuoraged by my review. Try it

In the 80’s this was absolutely my favorite! I really want to try this new perfume.

I love the original Nocturnes so much I’m truly afraid to try this one! I had a tiny bottle of Nocturnes parfum I used so sparingly it lasted throughout the ’80’s for me. It was a gift and I couldn’t have dreamed of affording another bottle of it. It was one of the most exquisite, beautiful fragrances I could ever have imagined, and on very special occasions I would allow myself to wear a drop of it on my neck. I bought an EDP of Nocturnes about 10-12 years ago, and it smelled of longing and disturbance. I was so deeply disappointed. It was not the same…maybe this new formulation will better recall the glory of the original.
