The smell of mimosa walking in the country, a very realistic mimosa scent, just beautiful, heady, translucent, sweet with a green and creamy anis accord, very close to other white flowers family with a similar smell palette like the Syringa Williams and the common Lilac. Long lasting, great projection, very feminine and sexy but as a man I wear it privately at home. It doesn’t smell like jasmine or tuberose, smells just like mimosa.
Вад – :
very underwhelming, prie-value ratio is too low. I’d recommend Avon Luck …that ‘s 1/10th price, lasts longer and projects more. I’m yet to understand what L’Artisan as a house is about, other than the nice bottles.
sercoz – :
I wore this when I was younger, so when my beloved stepdaughter, a young adult, asked for a bold and elegant flower theme, I knew this was for her. This doesn’t float in a room, it prances. It is bold but innocent, just perfect for a beautiful young woman coming of age. It would also work wonderfully for an older woman of course, but I find it lacks a certain maturity. This attracts attention in a good way, with its unashamed strong flower character, but does not evoke those complex memories I like in a scent nowadays. Apart from that, I love this fragrance, it’s truly a timeless classic.
ha_bibiii – :
Love honeysuckle and white flowers in general. This one is simply gorgeous and so elegant!
Yes longevity is poor but the feeling I have when I spray it, is magical.
It reminds me of Prada La femme L’eau. But la Chasse aux Papillons is less sweet and more natural to me.
I just don’t like the name of it. Too cute for my taste.
I would wear this alone at home. It is not a compliment getter if you are a man. You will look weird honestly, just like most of floral scent I have to say…But if you are a woman, you will smell elegant and naturally beautiful!
jolunionconna – :
A very pretty scent but sadly the longevity is poor. To be fair the notes in this are really renowned for their limited longevity.
A lovely honeyed tuberose that stays bright because of the wonderful fresh linden blossom. There is sweetness from the orange blossom. A very well blended floral that is not heavy and cloying. I find florals can be tricky. I think the fresh dry linden blossom works it’s magic and on me seems to dominate along with the tuberose and orange blossom. The linden blossom is the note that hangs in there to the end.
I would say this is a very feminine and almost a timeless scent. It’s high summer in a bottle. I don’t think I could imagine many women disliking this scent. A safe choice if choosing a scent for a lady.
mcBOB – :
One of the best floral fragrances ever!
light tuberose + anise + linden (smallleaved and largeleaf) + trace of black locust. It possess an aniseedy, flowery freshness of sheets dancing in the wind somewhere on a vast meadow
Monet’s “Woman with a Parasol Facing Left” wore it for sure.
But it isn’t vintage, its modern, spacious and cosmic.
Tomorrow by Avon is heavier and more on the black locust side with citrusy nuances.
melaniya90 – :
I was very eager to try La Chasse Aux Papillons because of the linden blossom note. I love blossoms in real life – they’re so festive and emblematic of the middle of spring, that giddy, exciting time of year when everything comes to life again. And so far I’d only encountered orange blossom as a perfume note, so I was hoping to be taken on a walk through a blooming alley of linden trees with this one.
And I wasn’t disappointed, or at least not after giving the big blast of tuberose that dominates the opening half an hour or so to calm down. When it does come out the linden blossom note is just as great as I hoped : natural and a little nutty, unlike any other floral note I’ve ever smelled, a little intoxicating. Wonderful!
It’s just too bad about the opening – tuberose is a note I can take or leave, so in this case I would rather have skipped it and gone to the linden blossom straight away. Another minor complaint is the strength: after projecting nicely for about an hour (including the half hour opening I’m not wild about), this quickly develops into the kind of scent I keep forgetting I’m wearing unless my nose happens to be close to my wrist for some reason.
So all in all I think I’d like to try the Extreme version of this one – it might be a little stronger, I like the idea of adding some honeyed apricots to this note list, and above all the linden blossom seems to actually be the star of the show in that one. Which isn’t to say I won’t enjoy my decant of this “regular” version immensely in the mean time…
uon689speagoessenda – :
La Chasse, what have they done to you? 🙁
I have worn this fragrance since 2001, almost 18 years now. I have never not had a bottle of it. I am positive the formulation changed some when they went from the round cap to the square cap. This often happens to conform to IFRA but I think it is also done more often to cut costs and hope nobody notices. As soon as I smelled it when they updated the bottle, I thought to myself “Oh no, what have they done to you, where is the orange blossom?” I don’t know about the new colored bottles, I haven’t tried it in those yet because I purchased 3 of the 3.4 ounce the last time I bought it but I have little hope that it will be like the original. Those days are gone just like my beloved L’Artisan Vanilia by LaPorte.
I do notice on the L’Artisan website they now list the notes as Jasmine, Linden and Tuberose, nothing else. The original notes were: Notes: Linden- Flower, Orange Blossom, Tuberose, Jasmine & Citrus.
When I got my first bottle with the square cap, I still had a new bottle of the older one. As soon as I sprayed it I noticed it smelled MUCH more strongly of tuberose. I was not pleased but I realize sometimes the quality of the ingredients can vary but I still loved it but definitely not as much.
Now I’m wondering how much it has changed in the new colored bottles, if at all. Or if it perhaps is more like the original which I highly doubt.
When I first spray it now, I get pure nauseating tuberose and it is strong. Where did the initial scents of orange blossom, citrus & Linden go that were present in the past? It is a good 1-2 hours now before I begin to enjoy it as the tuberose finally stops blasting me in the face. Application matters too. Lightly spray it, crook of your arm, behind the knees or back of your neck. Douse yourself with it and it is nauseating, headache inducing and enough tuberose to last a lifetime, at least to me. I will order a sample of it in the newest bottle but I have little hope that it is different than the last one and nothing like the original. $159.00 for a sickening version of the original, I don’t think so.
If I wanted that much tuberose, which I don’t, I would just wear Serge Lutens Tubereuse Criminelle because it is a lovely tuberose it you like that note.
sanez – :
Citrusy blossom with creaminess of white flower but without any sharp or overwhelming notes on me. Not a lot of tuberose in this. Very sweet. Might be boring to some but is a pleasing daily scent which might be just what you are looking for.
shurik podirka – :
There is a distinct anise note here and that unfortunately ruins it for me. Otherwise, a lovely fragrance accurately described in all the poetic reviews here. I just don’t like licorice in my flower garden.
bernardo – :
I like this fragrance but am confused on which bottle to get. Can someone please tell me if both, the bottle with the pink and this smoky grayish bottle are the same fragrance inside, please? Are there different bottles to please both genders??? Any info is greatly appreciated, thank you!
pletcherbpi – :
Spring blossom. Very pretty. Very feminine. Clean and fresh. Not too sweet. Brings to mind the image of a woman in a tea dress wondering through a country garden on a bright spring day. Not my style but I like it as a scent.
sWolf67 – :
I love it. Sheer apple-blossom. And yes, I do smell some tuberose as well:) Longevity and silage are great, as for the “white-floral” perfume.
saykam – :
Tuberose? What tuberose? There is tuberose in this?
On a more serious note, i can’t smell tuberose in this for the life of me. Disappointing, being how i bought it for tuberose.
All i get are lemons. Lemons, lemons and more lemons. And then it’s gone.
I do not have any lemony, zesty perfumes in my collection, so for that fact alone,La Chasse aux Papillons is a welcome addition to my wardrobe. On the other hand, it reminds me of a perfume that i’ve been trying to forget for more than 20 years now: a lemony, citrusy,no brand perfume i once shared with my once best friend until she stuck a knife in my back.
It’s very fresh, sparkly, almost like a lemonade, but i don’t get any flowers out of it, and i might never reach for it again due to unwelcomed memories. Definitely not what i expected from reading reviews and looking at the notes.
I see how it could be unisex. Longevity leaves much to be desired-it stays longer on my forearm than on the neck, but still nothing impressive. Luckily i bought only 15 ml bottle.
This is definitely not a tuberose perfume i am looking for.
soldier – :
i wish i was smelling all the lovely things people say they smell here. this is just another tuberose bomb on me. when will i ever learn, tuberose is never going to work for me. this sounded like a lovely scent, summer, meadows and chasing butterflies. i was kind of expecting to meet summer of my childhood in a bottle. instead, tuberose bomb. my summer never smelled like that. glad it was only a sample.
MASALEVA2009 – :
From the first time I smelled it, La Chasse aux Papillons captured my heart. This perfume is so “me” that it just had to become my signature. La Chasse aux Papillons is sunshine and happiness and a big bouquet of fragrant spring flowers. Even though it’s light and fresh, it’s as appropriate with a pair of jeans and a white shirt as it is with a business suit.
As much as I like this perfume in the colder months, I adore it even more when the weather warms up as I find that’s when it truly shines. I’ve never had problems with longevity, but I typically tend to be an undersprayer and gravitate towards lighter perfumes in general. This perfume is pure happiness in a bottle for me.
EnesFuern – :
I had high hopes, based on the reviews as well as a mostly positive test experience I’d had with the Extreme version. That one had a slightly plasticky vibe on my skin, so I thought that the regular version would be totally ethereal, as a lot of people have found.
Alas, it was intensely green with screechy orange flower, and that was it. No gauzy, transparent, wonderful fragrance for me, so I was thankful it was totally over within two to three hours.
Will stick with L’ete en douce, this works infinitely better for me as an uplifting, happy, ethereal scent.
pereli – :
Meh. Yeah, it’s well done, yeah the orange blossom is lovely, but it’s pretty nondescript really. And it hardly lasts 4 hours even as skin scent. While Eau Ambre I apllied to my roght hand at the same time is still pleasantly there these butterflies are all gone from the left hand.
Btw does the review by byggjan below reads decidedly creepy, or is it just me? As there are many balloons there…. and no, natural body scents are NOT similar to white flowers.
carpinteyrogpy – :
This scent is helping me verify that orange blossom is likely the number one most problematic floral on my skin, and tuberose is the number two. It has both. And to give L’Artisan credit, even with those being dominant, this isn’t a “hell no” on me; but it is a “no thank you.” The floral notes are done really well in this fragrance; they smell as natural as possible. But my skin (or maybe it’s my nose) refuses to work with them. A little too sweet, a little too cloying, perhaps simply Not Me. Makes me think of elderly female relatives, in a nice way, but in a way that isn’t my style; and also makes me think of the narcissus flowers at Easter, which are pretty but always smell a bit MUCH.
Rabtrerajen – :
This is one of the few pure white florals that has captured me lately. I’d found what I loved and everything else has seemed a little uninteresting in comparison. Not so with this Warm and long lasting beauty!
The lovely orange blossom blends so well with the jasmine it seems like honeysuckle. As the florals develop and magically blend together, there is a fuzzy edge, the sun warming the edges of the end of summer, the ending of a perfect day. The not-too-sweet green-yellow vibe is airy and surprisingly dry. I think of gardenias, lily of the valley, and magnolias sun-baked, but placed in an arid climate as the day slowly cools.
This has a wonderfully natural floral feel, like Aerin Lauder, Jo Malone or even some Annick Goutal creations. But it’s innocence can fool you. The animalic honeyed note adds interest and something else. I liked this from the first. But unlike many other floral perfumes, it grew on me more…and more…and more.
On me this has Good silage and longevity. I believe this would be great any time of year, but I’m craving it now, at the end of winter!
Beware: It is a man-trap!
Smolniy – :
A pale pink-yellow-cream silk veil of beeswaxy jasmine, lovely for layers, slips away quickly like the butterflies it’s named after.
Вадян28 – :
My femal coworker used this perfume and I just had to get that for my wife. The smell triggers romantic feelings in me. I can go around my wife sniffing her neck all the time etc. Interestingly she and also my work mate do not feel the smell already after 15 minutes. But I do all the day. May be it is so close to a natural feminine smell that women get quickly used to it?
But the first 30 minutes it smells not so good, it is quite sharp but then after an hour it is just fantastic. It relaxes me and captivates me so that I just want to be near the person wearing this perfume. I told my coworker how much I love this smell, and she wisely stopped using it.

So I finally watched the film “Me Before You”, and this is the perfume Will suggests that Louisa buys for herself when she is in Paris sitting in the cafe, in front of the L’artisan Perfumery during the last scene. Well now I am extremely curious about it! In fact I’m obsessed with obtaining a sample.
The description sounds delightful for spring. “Gentle and airy like the wings of a butterfly, this lovely fragrance mixes creamy tuberose notes and delicate tones of orange blossoms with hints of peppery spices.”
ser-sop – :
It’s a love in a “likey” way, as odd as it sounds. For me it’s the perfect innocent, safe, gentle frag for a mild spring day. That’s exactly what it sets out to be and succeeds. It’s not a scent you wear for impact or presence, but it’s pretty enough to garner some offhand “you smell nice” comments, and more importantly, actually make you feel pretty. True blue femininity in a bottle.
olegfilimonow – :
I’ve just sprayed La Chasse Aux Papillons over 10 times and it’s totally lost on my skin. It’s gone to absolutely nothing apart from on my hair where it lingers and it’s been captured a little on my clothes. It’s very pretty, but sadly it’s a ghost that never haunts. L’Artisan perfumes nearly always let me down.
axaxoma – :
For the LCAP edt, from the Coffret Miniatures you can get from Sephora, with Mure et Musc: I must be bad at recognizing tuberose, but the orange blossom and lime blossom is at the forefront for me, followed by jasmine, definitely white floral overall. Summer is ending hete but this is still a nice, fresh, and sunny daytime scent.
Box says:
“Chasing butterflies.
“A light, romantic and tender fragrance.
“Bergamot, jasmine, orange blossom, tuberose, lime blossom.”
aleksandr_k62 – :
This is the softest tuberose I have. Fracas’ quiet, well-behaved little sister. I don’t get any jas, more’s the pity. But I do get the lime blossom and, IMO, that is what tames the tuberose. A little too much, for my taste. In fact, on me this smells very mimosa, although there is no mimosa in it.
I much prefer the more intense kind, like Fracas (I don’t do nice, polite scents well; give me the ‘bad gal’ scents anytime). Still, this is very nice.
mvz650intitytek – :
Maybe it’s just the power of suggestion, but I’m sure I smell citrus/lime. (From the linden blossom.)
White florals are not my style, but I do have an appreciation for the artistry behind this lovely springtime scent.
pxh817JeomiWogkig – :
This is lovely. Delicate white flowers, a tuberose and jasmine scent that isn’t in your face, and the lime flower gives it an unusual zing. Definitely not a scent I expected to like at all, much less like to such a degree. Doesn’t project far, longevity about 6-7 hours, sits softly just above the skin.
This is another one that shines in 105+ degree weather! The tuberose gets stifling for a little while when it’s cooler, but it’s still lovely when the linden comes out. 🙂
almir – :
Tuberose is hit or miss for me, and this is a win. La Chasse is a clean and sensual tuberose, but not at first. Do not overspray!! The first few minutes may make you have second thoughts. Wait it out and then the linden blossom and honeysuckle balance out the tuberose. I seem to have many compliments while I wear this-the best one was-I was standing next to a famous football player (I’m from Texas so this is a big deal) and he whispered to his girlfriend “that lady smells great”, I did not know it was me until she kept giving me the evil eye the whole time and then it clicked!! DH loves this too.
dgulia – :
La Chasse Aux Papillion is a phenomenal scent, if you know how and when to use it. After reading the endless list of glowing reviews (on multiple sites), I blindly bought this in rollerball form. After a few months, here is what I can say about this fragrance:
1- As in real estate, location is everything. I have found that the crook of my arm and nape of my neck provide the right amount of heat for effortless projection. A flip of your hair or signing for a package can illicit a compliment from even the shyest coworker.
2- The best time to apply: post-shower and/or 5-10 minutes after applying unscented lotion or body oil. The right canvas is everything, especially when it comes to the longevity of this scent. Doing this extended the wear time from 3hrs to 6-7hrs on my skin.
3- Less is more. This is not a fragrance that can be abundantly sprayed. Most people respond favorably to the scent of LCAP– I’ve received more compliments with this than any other fragrance I own– but its sharp, floral tone can easily offend in large doses.
4- LCAP comes to life in warm weather. The linden and orange blossom are vibrant in the opening, then usher in a soft carpet of green grass and tuberose. It’s a spring time jaunt through the meadow, carefree youth, and… chasing butterflies with a net. It begs to be worn on a sunny day and baked into your skin.
Side note: LCAP hates my skin in the winter. The opening is harsh, green and reminds me of the gasoline scent that I experience with Chanel No. 5 and ET White Diamonds. White florals peek through, but are overshadowed by the bitterness.
I find La Chasse Aux Papillion to be an elegantly earthy fragrance that needs the right conditions to properly bloom. In the heart of spring and summer, there are few fragrances that I enjoy more.
Scent: 8/10
Sillage: 6/10
Longevity: 5/10
Demon_ – :
This came to me in a blind buy set of 4. I don’t care for floral scents overly much – particularly white flowers. I knew this wasn’t going to be a win from the note breakdown. But…. I think I like it. I certainly wouldn’t wear it often but I keep smelling my wrist. It doesn’t come off as sweet on my skin so that is a plus, it doesn’t have that floral, heady, jasmine & ylang ylang scent that I hate. I could see myself wearing this to bed if not out & about in the world.
dionyx – :
Tranquil, approachable, serene, light floral. It’s the colors pink and yellow. It’s bridal showers and spring. It’s the word “lovely.” Quite possibly one of the prettiest fragrances ever created.
kasino – :
I mostly love this. I just have to be in the right mood and it has to be warm outside. In my mind, my Holy Grail perfume is a beautiful soft scent that makes me feel like I am bathed in flowers in the warm sun, but with the ground still damp from yesterday’s showers. I’m surrounded by honeysuckle, and close by is a gardenia bush, as well as some flowering trees. Next door there is a rose bush I get a whiff of now and then. La Chasse “should” be my HG, and sometimes it almost is. I love the flowers and the sweetness, but sometimes it gets a little too bright and sharp. It’s like it needs to be in a little shade and damp to tone it down a notch. Maybe a bit of moss. But sometimes it is perfect, and I can really smell the sweet, wonderful honeysuckle without a hint of sharpness. Then it’s true love!
evgen1888 – :
On initial spray, I smell a pungent lime blossom mixed with some harsh greens-not sure what I am detecting here. After 6-8 hours, the fragrance was the same as Orange Blossom by Jo Malone-which in fact, is in my top 25 fragrance collection. I must add, before this fragrance started reminding me of Jo Malone’s Orange Blossom, Ralph Lauren’s Lauren came to mind. I have yet to find out which notes this fragrance and Lauren shares.
OTAMom, you should really give this fragrance some time to develop, maybe about 30 minutes. It was super harsh in the beginning for me, and I was about to scrub it off myself. By mistake, I left it on while I was in the kitchen cooking for over an hour and a half, and when I came to find out, my arm was smelling nice. As it fades, it gets much better. So, it’s definitely worth a 2nd try.
grigopavlen – :
The tuberose is so overpowering in the scent, makes me want to choke. Nothing in this fragrance brings to mind butterflies. A scrubber and going on ebay immediately, an extremely disappointing blind buy.
NakLedaneni – :
This is such a lovely scent. Soft, graceful, elegant. A very “wide eyed innocent” type scent. Sillage is soft and it lasted about 3 hours on me. Would absolutely love this if it had a bit more projection and longevity. I have a mini bottle, but probably won’t purchase a full size. Gorgeous, light fragrance, that has the perfect name. Happy smelling! 🙂
fukalotivanas – :
Lovely, lovely floral scent. Soft tuberose and a very limey scent, which must be the lime or linden blossom. I’ve never smelled real linden blossom, but this makes me feel like I have. It’s so happy. I really love this. I wish it projected longer, because I just want to smell this around me all day. The drydown smells like a lovely expensive soap – I want to bathe in this stuff.
cxceefv – :
This was heaven to me at first whiff! I love love love the beauty and nostalgia I find in this scent! It’s so unique, complex, and hard to describe… I cannot pinpoint just what it is that I love so much about it. Unfortunately it has very little staying power. Perhaps I will have better luck with this one in the warmer months. I do notice the infamous tuberose note but it is not at all offensive here, just a complimentary element to this perfect concoction. One of my all time favorites! I’m very interested to try out the “La Chasse aux Papillons Extreme” and see how it compares.
6tvonlineh – :
La chasse aux papillons is such a breathtaking beauty. By some she has been described as the perfect wedding scent, but I have to disagree, a bridal scent is to me the classic formal, elegant perfume that is somewhat restraint, like the wedding itself.
For me La Chasse aux papillons is quite the opposite, she is much more than a “pretty spring perfume”, she is a untamed wildflower. Although the white flower notes are soft and demure, they still give the scent a spark of madness and sensuality, which only white flowers can do.
La chasse aux papillons is somthing you reach after with a longing, you want to catch her, but as soon as you think she is within your reach, alas she is gone.
mutnieglaz – :
My wardrobe was noticeably missing a classic, white floral. So I tried this in my mission to remedy that lack. Unfortunately, I didn’t meet my match.
The lime combined the soapiness of the orange flower strongly reminds me of cleaners I’ve used. Maybe that’s silly, but What can you do about olfactory memory? Also, there’s something bitter in it. Perhaps the lime? It has the bitterness of fresh cut grass.
Not for me.
demcitEmickss – :
I’m not a tuberose or white floral fan generally…it’s actually one of the few notes I can’t usually stand. However, this fragrance is so subtle I actually love it. It is fresh and green in a way which makes me think of grass in the countryside or a garden. There is a little tuberose accompanied by a thick gloopy note I usually associate with honeysuckle even though it is not listed here. This is a really lovely classic scent.
mgorkin – :
Butterflies , butterflies . butterflies all over all day long … It made me so happy …
CetWolf – :
This is the first Slightly warm day in spring in the uk hence time for late spring/summer scents. On first spray I get mostly Jasmine and orange blossom. Then the tuberose blooms along with the other flowers.I can’t detect any linden blossom at all.I’m now predominantly smelling rubbery tuberose. The tuberose fades in the drydown which is a delicious melange of white flowers.
I recollect wearing this on hot days last year when this perfume smelt sweetly of Linden that bloomed in the warmth of a sunny day.I can only surmise that this scent needs warmth to show its true character.
This is a truly capricious perfume that is lovely all year round if you love Tuberose. If linden is your true love wear La Chasse aux papillon on hot days only.
KaT – :
La Chasse aux Papillons opens overwhelmingly green on me but soon developed into a medicinal scent. Eventually there was a ghost of a floral on the dry down but nothing special. It really must not agree with my chemistry.
138rus – :
Dufteren – from my experience, this is a fragrance that needs to be sprayed rather than dabbed. It likes a warm and sunny spring weather. It’s a bit moody, sometimes it’s shy, sometimes it projects well, sometimes it’s all about jasmine, or linden blossom, sometimes it’s Spring personified, projecting all the flowers and air and sun and life. Give it another try.
Nundseignee – :
I received a 0.7 ml sample of this from Lucky scent.
And I have still no idea what it smells like, I could vaguely smell something promising when I put my nose to the skin, and then nothing.
I feel so left out, I am not included in the croud that can enjoy and praise this scent. I can not even write a bad review, exept that it has no silage.
Now I feel obsessed, what did I miss out on, maybe I should get a bigger sample………….?
Nesin2011 – :
The tuberose is front and center! A beautiful, fresh fragrance that lingers of the outdoors, fresh earth, rain flowers lightly blowing on the breeze…lovely!!!
lober11 – :
This fragrance is an embodiment of its name! I can’t wait for the spring to come and to chase butterflies in a forest with blooming trees, while wearing this gem! This is another tuberose love for me. I agree that Today by Avon is a cheaper version of this. Lime blossom blends very well with the beautiful accord of white flowers. This a great perfume for all lovers of tuberose, but it’s not overpowering scent. Love!
Genaa – :
I just purchased a mini bottle of this, and what a lovely fragrance! As other reviewers have noted, its a very green tuberose with lime and a hint of orange blossom. My only problem with it is that it has short longevity and no sillage. I’m looking for the body lotion to layer with it – and think I’m probably going to buy a FB of it.
EDIT: Got a FB along with the body lotion which improves the longevity – there are very few florals that I like, but this one I love!
wrqarepour – :
The Sandra Dee of tuberoses scents–La Chasse aux Pappillons opens with lime and tuberoses. It is joined by linden and orange blossom, which initially made me worry that it might tip the scales towards being too sweet. Ultimately though, LCaP gives me impression of being that woman in an impressionist painting surrounded by a field of flowers, with gentle sunlight streaming through my golden hair. Innocent, pretty, youthful, without deception. Definitely not a scent to lure your lover with. However, it has its place in a well-rounded perfume collection. Although I am in my 50’s, I can see wearing this pretty scent on a warm spring day.
klimenva50 – :
This is a pretty, elegant floral for Spring. Tuberose and lime blossom are dominant at first. I prefer it once it settles after a short while into a more gentle, delicate orange blossom which is beautiful.
xoy306speagoessenda – :
I’ve got a 5ml bottle to test. It’ s sheer tuberose with fine hints of jasmine and lime blossom. My man made his first statement regarding a perfume from my collection: “Beautiful! You smell like spring!”. No big sillage or longevity, but totally pure, delicate and inoffensive.
IllesyWep – :
To me, La Chasse aux Papillons smells like a nice summer floral.
I first tried it as a decant and wore it to work… an experience I remember vividly. I was getting breakfast and as I walked past his cafeteria register, big Mike let out a primordial roar. Admittedly this guy is prone to crooning jazz classics at the ladies, a cappella and utterly shameless. But it was one of those rare waking nightmares where absolutely every person in the vicinity stopped dead, turned, and stared…while he gushed at top volume about how amazing I smelled. I didn’t buy a bottle or wear it to work again.
Years later, I ended up buying it. Maybe I’ve mellowed, but it’s now the nice summer floral I wanted. Just the slightest nod to Fracas’s tuberose with a playful feel.
I don’t know that I’ll re-buy, but it’s a nicely crafted and (on me) linear floral.
SildPloplok – :
One of the better white flowers scents I’ve tried so far – This would be a nice addition to my collection.
NiFoNT – :
I first fell in love with the poetic name: La Chasse aux Papillons or ‘The hunting of the butterflies.’ I was overjoyed to discover that the perfume was equally as charming and romantic.
On my skin, there’s lots of sweet creamy tuberose and I appreciate how it is not overpowering. The perfume is somewhat lighter in the dry-down as some clean smelling jasmine emerges. There’s quite a soft projection (2h) on me until it faded to a skin scent and that lasted for another 6 hours.
La Chasse is the perfect fragrance for the warmer months as it’s ethereal, pretty and especially suited to weddings or balmy summer evenings. Just gorgeous.
UPDATE: I love tuberose but when it’s too heady and intense I get headaches. It is lovely in La Chasse because the jasmine tempers the tuberose so that it always remains soft, subtle and is much easier for me to wear.
Reedlygreerge – :
Please PM me if you’d like to trade me La Chasse aux Papillons for Boyfriend by Kate Walsh. I ordered the perfume from the states, since it isn’t available anywhere else and, while I Love the scent – especially the drydown, it’s a bit too strong for me for an everyday wear, which is what I’m looking for. Since I live in BC Canada, shipping to another Canadian address isn’t a problem for me!
Edit: Full Disclosure – I have only sprayed my Boyfriend perfume twice and keep it in its original box.

It’s what an ingenue or a debutante wearing a fifties’ frock would wear.
I do not believe in age restrictions in fragrances, but I find this too innocent for my 40-year old self. Now if longevity and sillage were better, I might keep a more open mind. As it is, I think it’s a beautiful, evocative perfume (lovely name, too) but not one I would wear often.

This is a much more muted version, bubblegumm
