Description

Kenzo launches Kenzo Homme Night in late January of 2014. The fragrance is a new version of the original Kenzo Homme from 1991. The new flanker is more sensual and romantic in respective to the previous editions.

A man by which the fragrance concept is modeled is imagined as spontaneous, ready to take risks, a bit silly and very seductive. He doesn’t take himself too seriously and is fun to be around. The scent is described as playful, intriguing and energetic. It opens with fresh accord of grapefruit mixed with spices such as cardamom and coriander. Its tart heart of geranium and wormwood, with a touch of mango, is offset by a warm and seductive base of tonka bean, vetiver and guaiac wood.

The fragrance is available as 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

The nose behind this fragrance is Dominique Ropion.

I’m really impressed with Kenzo in all it’s forms and this is no different. The price to quality ratio is always a winner in my book. I get coconut but it’s a more creamy coconut and I get a weird play doh vibe on the dry down but I’m diggin it. Longevity and sillage are impressive also. Kinda reminds me of Ferrari silver essence which is also a great bang for buck. This stuff is good!

This is really under the radar and actually a really good summer scent. No similarities whatsoever to the original, this not an aquatic but a sweet and spicy scent. It gives off a very tropical vibe, and somehow reminds me of Abercrombie and Fitch First Instinct. This is a really decent performer, the projection is pretty good even after a few hours and longevity is a good 8h +. You can get that discounted and for the price, this is a really good fragrance to have for summer nights or a beach vacation.

    I really like this fragrance…
It is great for summer fruity sexy and sweet but not sweet in that generic way most fragrances are these days.
It reminds me of a busy summer island…
Ice cream, coconuts, suntan lotion (piz buin).
    And neon lights.
A great kenzo scent and one that lasts and lasts..

    Such a disappointment!
I get no coconut or tanning lotion or candy/ice cream, unfortunately, and that was my sole reason for blind buying this fragrance. There is absolutely nothing fruity or tropical about this fragrance. Even if Kenzo Night gave off an “ice cream” accord, I would have at least been satisfied.
    But NOPE!
Kenzo Night is warm and peppery woods with some faint sweetness. As well versed in fragrances as I am, no particular note stands out. The mango doesn’t stand out, nor does the tonka note. It is not as sweet that everyone else is making it out to be. It’s rather a spicy, mature sweetness.
The overall feel of Kenzo Night is that it is rather peppery and there is fleeting fruity-sweet note. It’s actually on the mature side of things, I really can’t see a teenager enjoying this or wearing it.

I never liked Kenzo but I tried this one… wow such a great frag. it totally reminds me of those cookies if you know, Rafaello, but that white cream inside. Sweet mango coconut. It is 100% that smell. if you really like Rafaello, get this cuz this is that smell, top to bottom. Last fair amount, I’d say 6 hours without a problem in cold weather.
Not fresh but feels ultra tropical. Imagine yourself in Havana or some exotic destination… beach, sand, palm trees, night life and this… you in a white shirt, drinking from a coconut. This is what it feels like… a night out, tropical coconut Rafaello exotic beach frag.

I seen this around duty free shops for ages. I didn’t like the brand so never gave Kenzo a chance. I remember smelling some other Kenzo and thinking it was harsh and not smooth to my liking.
Last year I was in Germany and having read a bit about this I took a wrist sample and strolled around a train station.
I loved it instantly and it definitely has the youthful, summer feeling of someone going out for a good time.
Ordered it now just from wanting to own and evaluate 30 ml of it during spring and summer. I think this is a fragrance you wear for yourself, a mood lifter. If it gets compliments it’s great.
Why is this so under the radar? There are hardly any reviews or information about this despite it smelling good and having the sought-after longevity that everyone wants.
I love sexy and tropical scents, but there are not a lot that are really good. There are a lot of OKAY ones like CK Summer, CK Reveal, A&F First instinct and VIW. But most of these are weak and not really having the punching power. I guess Versace Dreamer is tropic-ish too.
[An alternative that reminds me of Kenzo Homme Night I would say is actually Ultra Male, but it is so heavy and daunting I actually sold it after not recieving compliments after 3-4 nights out. Ultra Male is having a lot of Eros, 1 million and Dylan Blue mixed in to it so it’s just very rich and loud and doesn’t know where it wants to go.]

A slightly sweeter, better projection, better longevity than recent La Nuit de l’Homme. Same perfumer I reckon!

    ★★★★
It definitely took me some time to appreciate Kenzo Homme Night. For me, it was always one spray on a paper strip without focusing on the scent, basically thinking about the original Kenzo Pour Homme as a far superior fragrance.
I have tried Virgin Island Water by Creed, Diptyque Philosykos, Heeley’s Coccobello and South Water by Lili Bermuda while I was looking for a tropical fragrance. All of those fragrances smell wonderful (with a preference to Coccobello) but I always felt they are too unisex and suitable for daytime.
I decided to try Kenzo Homme Night in the end, but actually give it a full wearing, and I did the same with Davidoff Cool Water Night, only because I wanted to use a tropical fragrance only for night time and specifically for clubbing.
Kenzo Homme Night on my skin opens with a wonderful lush mango note that is uplifting and energetic, almost sporty I dare to say, but without making it a sport fragrance. I guess it feels sporty due to the coriander and grapefruit combo as top notes. After a few minutes, the magic happens. It turns really woody and even smoky, I can’t smell the vetiver but I can definitely smell the guaiac wood and tonka bean that gives the composition the depth it needs for being a masculine night fragrance. What’s fantastic about it is that the mango is always there, even when the base notes start to dominate and turn it slightly dirty and deep. Some people say it smells of coconut but don’t be fooled, it’s just when the tonka bean kicks in correlation with the mango.
The tropical character stays there for the fragrance’s whole lifespan, which is a total of 9 hours or more with great projection for at least the first 4 hours. In my book, that’s success in today’s standards when everything fleets in the first hour (yes, I’m looking at you Creed)
Is it original? Well, tropical fragrances smell similar most of the time, but I have never encountered the depth of Kenzo Homme Night in any other tropical fragrance, and that is why I give it a gold medal as the ultimate masculine tropical fragrance.
The longevity, the projection and the good price beats it all, a fragrance that’s aloof, lazy in a summer way but utterly seductive and masculine.
Wear it with sexy flip flops or total white trainers, your summer t-shirt and aloof shorts and you are that guy in the club that people sniff secretely, the guy that is hard to resist.
Thank you Kenzo, please wake up and go back to your creativity because -in the masculine spectrum- it has already been a while since Kenzo Pour Homme, Kenzo Air and Kenzo Homme Night.
I’m out, the summer night is calling…

After that coconut-based tropical entry promising something, it suddenly takes a turn and begins that repetitive drying of acid-staining musk so fashionable that I’m beginning to loathe.
    Another sad clone more !!!

Oily coconut smelling sunscreen. Definitely not for summer (at least where I live). Juvenile, sweet, tropical. Performance is good.

Kenzo Homme Night is an original take on coconut for men that is never too beachy or excessively summery. It smells fairly sweet though quite well-balanced as well, ends up being very long-lasting with satisfactory sillage, and remains quite unfairly off the radar.
At the same time it stays healthily distant from other Kenzo pour Homme offerings, and more than a flanker should be a perfume on its own merit. I am a bit biased here because I like Kenzo Homme Night quite a lot.
I wear it sometimes in the spring, at daytime, and fits many different occasions without being inappropriate. If you are looking for something “coconutty” that does not remind you of women’s coconut perfumes, I believe this fits the bill. Apart from that, I can smell a little bit of pepper probably, and a fleeting undertone of mango,oh wait, or is it fig?
Be careful if you like your coconut to smell fresh, like with Virgin Island Water or “cocktail-smelling” like with Tommy Bahama Set Sail St Barts or Calvin Klein One Summer 2014. Those lean towards a fresher interpretation of notes, in my opinion. The Kenzo is more like raw coconut flesh, for better or worse.
In a way, KPH could be a distant, masculine cousin of Bronze Goddess (by Estée Lauder) maybe.
I would give it a 9/10, but you must like coconut (conspicuous by its absence in the notes description) to enjoy it.

  12. :

The smell is stunning, I smell the coconut, although in my vision it’s not sweet, but neutral as if coconut was just split. Apparently, the mango with something else gives such a perception. As for me, an unusual flavor, and I like so much that the sweetness is not very sugary.

    A trully summer scent!
Mango + Coconut explosion, during opening and drydown.
Really feels like a tropical perfume, I like using this one when going out at night on vacation in a beach or something : )
Good performance on me, projects for around 2-3hrs, lasts about 6hrs.

I didn’t think I would like this fragrance when I blind-bought it off of Fragrancenet but I do.
It’s not a masterpiece by any means, but it is a sweet (not overly sweet) fun fragrance with a bit of a tropical vibe. I definitely get the mango/coconut/spices over woods scent.
What it is interesting to me is why the name of this fragrance uses the word ‘night’. I think you could easily wear this during the day.
If you are looking for something fun that you could wear in warm (not super hot) weather, give this one a try. Longevity/sillage is decent as well.

    scent : 9/10
    sillage : 8/10

    80% night / 20% day fragrance
    nice coconut scent
reminds me a little bit of joop wild without the tobacco

  19. :

    5 out of 5

Kenzo Night is a tropical candy, a mix of woody, fruity, spicy and sweet notes, playful, elegant and powerful. It is a superb choise and sexy 100% mens scent. It opens with an explosion of sweet coconut but after a while it becomes a little bit powdery, spicy an a note of sour mango appears.
The longevity is about 6 hours and the sillage is really heavy. The most distinguished notes are coconut, mango, grapefruit, cardamon, coriander and tonka bean.
It is a warm weather scent but I do not reccomend it for the very warm summer days. It is perfect for summer evenings, spring and warm autumn days.
Kenzo Night is the best I’ve ever smelt from this company. It reminds me summer, beaches, linen suits, cool sunsets at the summer sea and cool summer evenings, unique and sensual!

I like the opening is like woah! fruit! sweet! but not a honeyish thing… is fresh, I just tried it on the counter on a paper (Yes… ¬¬)
I will look to try it on my skin to see how the other notes start to show but Deff a very nice and fresh fragrance it surprised me because you wouldn’t expect this scent from a bottle labeled -Night-

  25. :

A nice tropical fragrance, manly, pleasant, well-blended, deserves trying, but the final dry down ends too woodsy to my personal taste.

WEATHER / SEASON : all-year around (just go easy on the sprayer during warmer days)
TIME / : night and day
WHICH MAN ? : Mainly youngsters (teenagers + young adults). I’d develop that part below…
SCENT / FEEL : 16/20. I know many male ‘fragranticians” are bored with the current trend of fruity scents. But if you want TROPICAL fruity scent, not the usual citrus/red fruits/apple, etc. this is a fair candidate. Not groundbreaking (I do get the sun tan lotion comparison) BUT well made.
I got mainly mango (top and middle) and tonka beans (drydown).. AND some coconut-y smell, all throughout, which is strange because it’s not listed ! Must be the result of woods and spices being mix with mango? i don’t know, but I know I love it.
It’s not a linear scent at all, it does evolve. You go mango > coconut (?) > tonka and spices. It’s quite well blended in my opinion, it evolves quite naturally, and the drydown is creamy with the tropical vibe remaining.
LONGEVITY : 8/10 – Very good longevity as usual with kenzo. I get a 8h+ from this one, and I love the fact that the top notes (mainly mango and that coconut-y smell) linger on for a fairly long time as main notes (~2h) and you still can detect them in the drydown. It even lasts longer on clothes.
PROJECTION / SILLAGE : 7/10 . Quite powerful for the first hour, then becomes a skin scent, but with fair projection (I’d say 1-foot projection for ~4h) and the sillage is rather weak. Which is weird, because, if oversprayed, it goes on the cloying side.
    OVERALL : 15,50 /20
    NOTES / ADD INFO :
Many were disappointed with this one because of the deja-vu “teenage” smell it has. I do understand the disappointment. It seems Kenzo tried to go mainstream with this one, they wanted their Le male or 1-Million it’s quite a letdown compared to the other Kenzo offerings if you expect the Kenzo “originality” when it comes to their fragrances. I guess they need more money and wanted to launch something more accessible, likeable by the majority (I do like Kenzo pour Homme, but I detect a slight nail polish remover in it that kept me from buying it).
BUT this one wins as a candidate regarding TROPICAL scents available to men… When requesting a tropical scent for men its always the same 4/5 bottles : Virgin Island Water, l’Artisan Timbuktu, Tommy Bahama St Barts Sail, Jennifer Lopez Deseo… You know what? I prefer this ONE over those others. Looks like the only ‘tropical’ note available to men is coconut, this one at least has mango, which is a rather rare and interesting note. And It does the job very well as a tropical.
Nice to wear for all seasons as well, just make sure to use it sparingly during summer (though not sure a more mature man, says, in his 50 would pull it off. Maybe still too fruity to some)

  28. :

Starts with the coconut smell then comes sweet fruit smell (mango).
    Longevity : 7/10

Opens with a boozy Pina Colada scent. Just perfect for tropical summer nights out!

  30. :

    4 out of 5

for me this is a great summer fragrance..kind of reminds me of coconut sunscreen lotion but with a touch of fruitiness to add sweetness. I feel as though the geranium mixed with the touch of spices and mango & tonka bean give it the coconut smell which i like. well blended i think and long lasting. Yes its similar to OTB wild. 9/10 for this sort of scent.

  31. :

    4 out of 5

Not my cup of tea but not terribly unplaisant, this is a perfume I can wear if it was gifted to me.
Kenzo Homme Night is sweet and fruity heavy on mango and tonka. It does remind me of OTB wild but I have to say that I find it as the winter version of wild as it is thicker, heavier and warmer. People say that it’s a summer fragrance but I have to disagree. It’s not bad in summer but to me it’s more suited to be worn in fall, winter and early spring. That is how I find it.
All in all, you just can’t shake the mainstream feel of this fragrance off. But for what it is, it’s affordable and wearable and crowd and office friendly. 6.5/10

  32. :

    5 out of 5

Coriander note is strong in dry down, pleasant fragrance. I wouldn’t consider this as a ‘night’ scent. It’s fresh, sweet, fruity-synthetic and “happy” kind of fragrance, though if smelled obsesively can be compared in some way to the original Kenzo Homme. Overall, it’s quite nice, but not as unique as 1991’s Homme. Not sure if I like it in complete.

  33. :

    3 out of 5

How can some people compare Kenzo Night with Virgin Island Water? Kenzo Night and VIW are like oil and water. Although they have similar notes the coco-lime combo in Kenzo is too synthetic, while VIW notes are decidedly natural. On the other hand I don’t get the mango note mentioned in several reviews. IMO Kenzo Night has a woodsmoke-leathery accord (maybe rosewood) which is similar to that found in Carolina Herrera’s CH men and 212 VIP, Calvin Klein’s Obsession Night, and other gourmand scents. Kenzo Night is not bad at all but differs greatly in quality and originality from Virgin Island Water.

  34. :

    5 out of 5

Kenzo Night is consistent with the proposal.
A scent that opens fresh and fruity, I think the mango that appears with this aromatic tone and in seconds appears around the edges a floral subtle bittersweet touch by geranium.
Subsequently appears a creamy and also vanilla by the tonka, which is the most intense part and mixed with the fruity aspect leads us to a mango mousse, mango with milk or vanilla.
It looks like a dessert that overall aroma reminds us of coconut, similar to Versace Eros only without the fruity aspect synthetic fragrance but far from surprising and nothing to do with the Virgin Island Water.

  35. :

    4 out of 5

It’s playful and strong. Dry minty opening that evolves to a tropical mango aroma with a hint of coconut. Amazing woody dry down. Fruity, spicy and sweet. Sensual, unique … a fantastic scent!

just try it in the morning and at night very buneo smell was still in my arm I bought a bottle and I must say that of all the KENZOS to try this is the best I like is my 1st Kenzo buy is a strong scent attractive young It is finer and higher than all those crap of hugo boss and lacoste kenzo is on par with dior or ysl (even better than Xeryus rouge)
    scent 10/10
    sillage 9/10
    longevity 9/10

    All Summer bottled by Kenzo
A fragrance I’ve been looking for ever since Obsession Night was discontinued.
Off course nothing could equal Obsession Night still Kenzo Night takes the upper hand for its longevity for Obsession Night disappears in 5 minutes.
I was asking myself why they shoved the “night” label for these two perfumes as they’re typical day perfumes a day at the beach.
Back to the Fragrance it’s fruity with coconut in the notes. It’s a positive, sexy and fun fragrance.Great longevity and sillage though not cloying at all.
I was stopped many times to be asked about it and everybody around me loves it.

  38. :

    4 out of 5

I really don’t get the comments about it being synthetic: all fragrances are, that’s how the manage to make them last long. A different thing is that smells like something you picture in your mind and you don’t like the quality of it because you expected some other “smell image”.
Anyway, I think this is fantastic: there is a coconut vibe as others have stated, and this note is above the mango to my nose. It’s like smelling a refined tan lotion, a beachy smell if you will.
The name “night” suits it well, as I don’t see it being used on the early day (cloying alert). It’s meant for the cold to me, so I’ll be using this a lot this winter. Nevertheless, this is NOTHING like original Kenzo Homme (which I love but haven’t owned).
If you like sweet different fragrances, try this.
    Greetings from Chile!

Terribly synthetic, unfortunately. I agree it’s not Kenzo’ish. They used to do good stuff, not flops like this.
It’s too sweet for me. Guaiac wood+tonka+mango=I’m done. I don’t detect straight coconut, but I agree it has kinda’ oriental vibe to it.
Unfortunately, synthetic notes are here. I immediately thought: “It reminds me of Paco Rabanne’s Invictus”. They share the synthetic aspect. And Kenzo Homme Night also gives me headache.
Longevity is around 10 hours, sillage is good.
I’m dissapointed. It’s nowhere similar to good old Kenzo Homme and should get different name. Actually, I couldn’t believe the fact that Dominique Ropion made such a disaster!

Kenzo Night almost surpasses Creed Virgin Island Water regarding the coconut note; however, longevity is only slightly better and the coconut is more artificial/synthetic.
Initial blast of Kenzo pour Homme Night features a strong alcohol vibe.
Then the top notes of Amber-Baby Powder-Suntan Lotion-Vanilla-and COCONUT quickly develop and take over. Very creamy and definitely unique! No one else has it.
The mild and fruity mango also develops. I think the description on Fragrantica is very accurate.
I have tried ALL the coconut scents out there. Trust me when I tell you that I am a COCONUT feind.
If you’re like me and wish the coconut in Creed Virgin Island Water had a stronger coconut note, with more sillage and longevity, then you have almost found the right fragrance (although less quality and less well-defined notes).
Kenzo Night is very sweet and not masculine. It flirts with being unisex and is similar in sweetness to Paco Rabanne Black XS and Givenchy Pi, but it never crosses the gender line over to the feminine side.
Kenzo Night is certainly a linear fragrance and much more artificial/synthetic, especially when compared to Virgin Island Water. At times it feels blurry, as if all the notes were thrown together and they’re bluntly not mixing well; however, it’s the only other coconut scent on the market that I enjoy and find pleasant for my weird tastes. I purchased my 3.4 ounce bottle at Strawberrynet for 80 USD and free shipping. It might hit the online discount retailers for half-price in the future.

    Tested today in Barcelona.
It reminds me the mango and coconut yoghurt that I ate when I was a child.
The mango note at the top is very natural although the coconut is very synthetic, but hey, coconut isn’t listed. After 20 I get the tonka with some spicies.
Not very masculine until the guaiac note appears (40 min).

It begins with a strong coconut vibe that fades in about two hours and then it smells kind of synthetic. I can sense also some spices and wood accords.
I didn’t like it in the first minutes (too much alcohol), then it seemed ok, but after the coconut faded, I didn’t like it at all.
It had good projection for about 2 hours then moved close to the skin. After 6-7 hours I couldn’t smell it at all.

    If you’re looking for a good C O C O N U T scent I’d suggest this one.
The perfume pyramid is crazy as the notes given are almost untraceable. Maybe the guaiac wood peeks a little through in the base.
I believe this to be oriented towards the younger crowd.
Kind of a fun scent and not very serious.

Coconut invasion – that’s how I could describe the 2014 trend in masculine perfumery. At first I tried ambery-coconuty Maison Martin Margiela, today had an opportunity to wear the new Kenzo. It starts off very sweet with a smell of coconut aroma stick. After that juicy, unripe, a bit sour mango appears. These two things are all the fragrance is composed of, reminding of mango ice cream with a coconut addition. Absolutely unisex and not Kenzo-ish.
FYI: Dominique Ropion is the perfumer.

Coconut…and coconut…and mango! It is a bit similar with Joop Homme Wild but without the rum. I was surprised when i got back home and checked the notes pyramid. What? No Coconut? Anyway,I really love this one, because i love the smell of coconut. I’m not a big fan of Kenzo (i only like Jungle), but this one si very nice. Too bad it’s not that strong, on my skin i got 6 hours longevity and a moderate projection for the first hour, then close to skin.

This one is available in all stores in Barcelona, Spain. I tested in a Sephora store and I don’t know what to think of it.
The first spray opened up like a peppermint bublegum like Trident. It fresh allroght but I don’t think it is such big of a deal. I prefer Tokyo all more than this one. But I am a little suspicious, so try it, I never discorage anyone to try fragrances.

Tried and bought it today as I fell inl ove with the mango accrod which makes this new perfume unique for sure. It has a remarkable, tropical soul. Zenzo homme night is linear and the main note is a coconutish mango accord surrounded by some splashes of sour grapefruit, mild spices and soft vetiver. It has a great potential to be an interesting spring/summer perfume suitable for middle age gentleman. It has a nice long lasting but moderate sillage. To my nose is more tropical and fruity than seductive and intriging. A great, fun fragrance for fruity perfume lovers.
