Description

In cooperation with Coty, Karl Lagerfeld is launching something very interesting into the world of fragrances this autumn. That is a fragrant trio named Kapsule, inspired by geometrics, as the creator’s great love. Three Kapsules are unisex fragrances, which can be mutually combined, and as Karl Lagerfeld says, they stand for ‘music for the nose’. The notes he likes include aromas of fresh bread, vanilla, spices and wood and they are created in a modern spirit and in beautiful colours.

The first letter of the perfume trio Kapsule “K” is the first letter of designer Karl’s name, and three editions, which were named Kapsule Light, Kapsule Woody and Kapsule Floriental, were created in cooperation with three different perfumers.

Kapsule Floriental was created by Emilie Coppermann (Symrise), and it introduces notes of ivy leaves, violet and black tea leaves.

Their bottles were created in geometric shape of square, in three colours of glass: light blue (Kapsule Light), red (Kapsule Fioriental) and dark blue (Kapsule Woody). The bottles were designed by Luz Herrmann, with engraved Lagerfeld’s signature on the bottom of each bottle. These editions is presented to the market in October 2008, as 30ml edt (1.0oz) and 75ml edt (2.5oz).

The nose behind this fragrance is Emilie (Bevierre) Coppermann.

Beautiful fragrance! Black tea with violets, slightly sweet. I’m pretty sure I can smell woody notes in it,too. I’ve got one bottle for sale, let me know if you’re in UK and can’t find it anywhere.

I got mine in the summertime, I tried them and the smell was way to heavy for warm seaside weather…Tried it today as the autumn is already on the way and I was really surprised – it smelled so different and so good for this time of the year. I read the reviews and I totally agree – I also smell vanilla and tonka, as I found out they are one of my favorite ingredients, so I can really catch these two notes. At first I was surprised with a really nice bouquet of notes, which I can’t list here, as the interest in the perfume world is new to me. And yes, after a few hours all I can feel is that cozy vanilla scent.

Only 3 notes? I swear I smell plum, tonka and amber also. Anyway I strongly like almost love this scent. It is a deeper floral with lots of sweetness in the drydown. It leans more feminine but I would wear it on a warm. not hot spring/fall day. Longevity and sillage are above average and the violet, ivy, tea are present from the beginning to the end. Prices have skyrocketed now that I believe it’s discontinued.

Got my bottle of this today. Hmm, I’ll describe it by comparison – what springs to my mind when I smell this, is a violetty Le Jardin D’Amour, or Deci Dela without the raspberry. It’s that kind of a ‘soft fuzzy’ kind of perfume.
By my scale, this is certainly not a rubbish frag – it’s more than a meh but less than a love, just because it doesn’t really feel very ‘me’.
Kind of a ‘modern’ smell to my nose, but not unpleasantly so, I would say it’s more feminine than masculine too. I don’t get any ‘ozonic’ from it, although that’s listed above, nor tea, one of the listed notes. The violet is subtle but noticable. Weird how vanilla isn’t mentioned because the end of the drydown is a lingering whisper of vanilla ice-cream.
The packaging and bottle are nice, quite classy. Seem to have a thing about red bottles at the minute!
I had Cacharel Gloria (compared to Floriental by a reviewer below) and swapped it then kind of wished I hadn’t as it was something ‘different’ for occasional use – maybe this one could take that place, I’ll give it a few more goes, see if it’s a keeper or not.

How can you not like this? I’ll go to say that this is a top 5 non-niche product. On my skin, i get cinnamon flavored tea. Those accords may seem real girly but the gender meter would be more in the middle IMO. If you’re into fragrances with a gourmand nuance, you should definitely check this one out.

Beautiful scent, very lush. Like a wave of humidity when you first arrive at an airport at a tropical destination.

A classic masterpiece. I love the Karl Lagerfeld scents very much, they stand out in the crowd. This also is a very different scent. On my skin it´s sweet floriental with flame of tea in it. It´s not boring to me at all like some reviewed here but that off course is personal.
It´s just different from most scents out there. Love or hate it i guess. For me definitely love.

I have 30ml Floriental and in my opinion it suits more for women. My husband also told that he couldn´t use it cause it´s too feminie.I dpn´t use is so often because its not my cup of tea, it´s weird and I´m not a big fun of that kind fragrances but also it´s not bad. I smell violet and ivy. Unfortunetly it doesn´t last long.

I love this fragrance. It has notes of warm citrus, vanilla and woods to me. I am surprised it is a violet scent because many violet scents become over-sweet on me.
I bought a couple of packs of the 3 Kapsule samples in lieu of buying an actual bottle (at this stage). I love the idea of buying a set of three to mix together. Honestly though this is my favourite one. They do work well together. I especially like this one layered with kapsule light but it works on its own too.
This perfume reminds me a little bit of lancome magnifique, the notes of which I love but become too strong and heady on my skin and for my personality. Kapsule Floriental is something I can wear comfortably.
Silage is good but not overpowering. Longevity is also good, eventually becoming a warm vanilla skin scent.

Lagerfeld KAPSULE FLORIENTAL comes in a gorgeous red bottle, but the composition has a rather creamy yellow feeling to me, falling somewhere in between KAPSULE WOODY and Henri Bendel VANILLA FLOWER. Surely there’s more to this perfume than violet, tea, and ivy? I’d add wood, possibly tobacco leaf, and vanilla, for starters. This is not very floral, but it does seem more feminine than the other two members of the trio.
FLORIENTAL is a gentle, not-too-sweet, not-too-spicy oriental perfume, with a softness vaguely reminiscent of Jill Sander Style Pastel SOFT YELLOW–but perhaps without the benzoin and with a touch more wood? Although this perfume is not all that original, it has a soothing and warm quality which makes it suitable for cooler weather. I am going to try mixing it with the other two KAPSULES and see how that goes.

I don’t own this fragrance, but was given a sample. This smells a lot like Houbigant Quelques Fleurs Royale, in my opinion. Not bad!

This is one of a trio of scents called Kapsule – three flankers in search of an original. Having tried the other two (Woody and Light), I had middle-of-the-road expectations for Floriental. It did not disappoint. In fact, it’s a pretty decent, conventional perfume that fits its generic name.
It starts out sweet, but not too sweet, with some gourmand vanilla, some light, unidentifiable floral and citrus notes, a hint of tobacco leaves, and a musky-woody-ambery base. It’s a little bit powdery, but not powdery like violets or iris. It’s more of a coumarin, citrus, and baby powder scent. There’s loads of sillage, even with one tiny, cautious spray. It lasts all day, 6-8 hours, eventually drying down to a sweet vanilla base. While not terribly original, it’s a pleasant, wearable fragrance.

I smelled this one when it came out and I was considering buying it. It does smell quite a bit like vanilla and spice, but not overly heady. I was quite obsessed with it for a time- I liked it the best of the three. I tend to this of one as more of a feminine scent by itself, but could probably be masculinised by the other two Kapsules.
I love the idea of sharing scents with a partner, it seems so sexual. This is something I’d love to do when I have the money.

Having read all the reviews below I didn’t expect much from Floriental, to begin with. But I happened to find it quite wearable, though it is flat and doesn’t change much during the day. If you fall for violets and leather you should give it a try. Perfect for colder weather; very good lasting power, too.

The first impression: very, very masculine. I’d love to smell it on male friends (hint hint, gentlemen!).
Then after an hour or so I took the blotter out of my bag and I became more sweet. I dont know what exactly it was, but it became very feminine and powdery. I still think I need more testing to decide on it though.
Floriental is a nice fragrance, but it needs more character. I would some it up as pleasant and transparent, but not very distinctive. It might be an advantage if you are looking for something wearable that would not attract too much attention, but that would smell professional and mature.

    Loving this at the moment!
My partner and I have all 3 Capsules – Floriental, Woody and Light.
I wear the Floriental layered with the light, which is very feminine sexy smell and my parter wears the Floriental layered with the Woody- a masculine smooth smell.
I have received many positive compliments as well as my partner.

This one smelled much more masculine from the bottle (not beautiful at all, it looks rather cheap). I sprayed it and it was very tea like! It’s like some leaves ripped smell at the beginning. It’s Ivy and Black tea in the top notes. I thought, aarrghh!, boring tea fragrance! Tea proudly lasted few hours… I got home, I was not liking this green smell… but then tea composition expands with something flowery and more rich… vanilla! I would like this fragrance if it would have shorter period of top-notes-only, dry-down is more interesting. Also it stays long on a skin and it’s very quality fragrance.
    For me it’s a ‘no,no’.

Floriental smells like very creamy vanilla ice-cream on me. I would even say it is linear because this ice-cream stayed on my skin for a very long time and it hasn’t changed, well maybe slightly.
I imagine wearing it on a hot summer day when you wanna eat ice-cream but you are on a diet, so you spray Floriental and your needs are satisfied:) Nice edible fragrance.

I tried all 3 Kapsules, firstly – separately.
My one impression – they are flat and boring. And rather manly than feminine.
Then mixed each two of them together – made “pairs”. Nothing interesting still.
All the time, I had the impression that I’ve already smelled something very similar.
I should have mixed all of them together, but I got so enough of Kapsules on that day that I gave up.
Generally, I find the idea great, and the bottles are fantastic. Hope the Kapsules would work better on skin.
