Description

“Continuing their exclusive collaboration, John Varvatos and Nick Jonas bring forth a new fragrance for men – JVxNJ. Our first collaborative scent, JV x NJ is dynamic and irresistible, capturing the upbeat energy of the city as dusk settles and nightlife comes alive. In the heart of the fragrance, aromatic notes are combined for masculine comfort and a touch of nostalgia, featuring hints of Mandarin, Lavender, and Sandalwood.”

Top notes: mandarin, leaf of Kaffir lime, pink pepper, cascalone
Heart: lavender, sage, rosemary, mint, hedione
Base: sandalwood, clearwood, ambroz super

The bottle is colored in pearly midnightk-blue lacquer, which resembles the finishing color of classic luxury cars, symbolizing one of the interests that John and Nick share. The advertising campaign is shot by Danny Clinch in New York City.

John Varvatos JV x NJ is available as a 75 ml and 125 ml Eau de Toilette.

JV x NJ was launched in 2018. The nose behind this fragrance is Rodrigo Flores-Roux.

    Uber citric.
It starts very CK (any flanker) summer edition and quite synthetic. For some reason it reminds me of a club during the 90’s ( I guess it brings some forgotten olfactory memories of Kenzo and Issey Miyake).
If you can tolerate the opening and most of the middle notes, then you’ll get a nice break from the screeching citrus, mint and rosemary.
But to tell you the truth, I don’t find it original or attractive.

Actually, scratch that. I think I must have had Viking on my wrist when I sampled this bland bilge water

10/10 for originality. Smells like Nick Jonas urinated all over the place.

Fragrance peddler jumped me at Dillard’s and threw a paper in my face. Smells good, lasts long, permeated into my new clothing in the bag. Renewed my interest in fragrances altogether to be honest. Performed very well in a Dillard’s bag 😉
Did not get to try this one on yet, though.

I like this bottle it’s a quality bottle I also like the scent. It’s mainstream/night time/dark BUT, performance sucks and that’s a shame because I would of bought it.

The opening is ok, but it fades fast into the drydown, which smells like nothing but straight ambroxan….very heavy chem smell and no character. I’ve smelled all of jv’s colognes, and while I don’t wear them personally, I definitely appreciate and recognize the quality of the scents as they are. They are different, but still refined and have a smooth, easygoing, but a little rough around the edges feel. This smells pretentious and in your face. I feel like it doesn’t fit anywhere in the current lineup, though that’s just my opinion.
But I agree with picknenders, this is not worthy of the brand, either way.

Smells like a “cologne” nothing more nothing less. I’m pretty sure in very small doses IE one spray to the chest would do best, it would convey a suitable albeit typical freshness. Kinda leiniar and boring but in no ways bad… kind of reminds me of a Cool Water for millennials.

C-Sauce, have you smelled Creed’s Viking?
The two have no resemblance IMO.

It smells like too many fragrances that just came out at the same exact time. It has that Minty fresh vibe like Polo Rush and JPG In The Navy. The performance is horrible it’d be a great frag if the projection/longevity were there. I don’t get how you go from Artisian Pure that rocked in both categories then come out with this one and go back to the same b.s. in lacking quality.

This smells like a few scents that comes to my mind. Jean Paul Gaultier Popeye eau fresh and also Dunhill icon racing.

    This smells nice.
    however…
it’s not worthy of the JV branding.
I think the reason why many of us have gravitated towards JV is because it’s different. It’s not your typical designer. His scents are unique.
This is not unique under any circumstances. It doesn’t have a JV feel at all.
I agree with the first reviewer – polo sport… maybe, though not as dated. Let’s say it’s the 2018 polo sport.
This will 100% be universally pleasing – to men and women – and no doubt that it will get its fair share of love. But if you’re going into this expecting something different, you may want to avoid.
For the record – coolest bottle in the game.

This is basically Diesel’s Fuel for Life rebottled. Unfortunately, Fuel for Life is actually a better frag in this case. This one is just “ok.”

This is an odd entry for varvatos and reminds me of the fragrance star usa varvatos put out. I expect to see this at discounters pretty quickly.

    JV should’ve stayed with BPI

Smelled it and the first thought that came to mind was “shower gel.”

I smelled this at the end of July in a Nordstrom in Scottsdale, AZ. I hate to report that based on my initial and cursory testing on paper, it reminded me quite a bit of Polo Sport, Wings or Michel Germain’s Sexual Nights. It has this mid-90s, classic fresh vibe going for it but done with a more modern approach: think fewer ingredients/more streamlined formula, freshness from the modern cascalone note, less intense overall. My recommendation is not to overlook this scent but to set the right expectations. This isn’t a completely original fragrance but it does have some elements of originality. Happy sniffing!
