Vanilla is not one of my best notes, but Joop! Le Bain is the exception. This is delicious smelling, definitely vanilla but not a big honkin’ three wick candle vanilla. It’s a really smooth vanilla with something that almost feels citrusy, like lemon cake batter.
Lemon cake batter is about the best description I can come up with. Not a sticky sweet fake smell like some philosophy lemon cake bodywash, more of a rich smell like the batter for a lemon pound cake. Not exactly that smell, but it’s the closest description. Lemon pound cake + honey + sandalwood = delicious!

On a recent trip to Hungary I encountered vast quantities of Le Bain and Liszt Ferenc airport in Budapest, going for a measly 20 Euro.
If you are in need of backup bottles, and within easy access (!!) I recommend it (I bought some of course)

    Gorgeous and intoxicating.
I agree with previous commentaries: it has a certain vibe of pipe tobacco and cherry flavoured sweets. But, in my opinion, this smells mostly like waffles. First quality ones, aromatised with vanilla and lemon. Lasting power and sillage are very good, so use it sparingly, otherwise can be cloying.

Tonka, amber, vanilla and aldehydes are the most noticeable notes in this composition. As others have mentioned before, Le Bain smells rich and boozy. I also get tobacco and cherry jam notes . Plus, I disagree that Le Bain smells cheap: it could easily pass, olfactory-wise, as a niche fragrance. If only LB lasted more on my skin…4,5* out of 5*

I am NOT an aldehydes lover, so the first spray of Le Bain is kind of a giant WHOA and he** to the NO to my nostrils. But….give this a few mins and it becomes magical. It is like sweet cherry pipe tobacco my Grandpa used to smoke (called Black Gold), mixed with soft vanilla and a hint of amber ( I dislike amber immensely, but it is faint and mild). Longevity from a few sprays is very good…4-5 hours easily and sillage is not weak, but will not clear the room!
As long as you can spray this, and let it sit for a few mins….you might fall in love with Le Bain.
I do NOT like calling any fragrance masculine or feminine, as I firmly and adamantly endorse: “If you like it, wear it”. I feel very strongly about this scent…great for a man, woman or any gender you choose 🙂 I do believe there are some scents that just smell better on a guy or a girl, but this is gender fluid. Now take Chanel No.5…I have tried to wear this for over 30 years, and I just cannot. It smells too much like a beautiful woman should be wearing it, not a man. If you like wearing No.5 as a guy..power to ya! It just is awful on me! PM if you like No.5! I have basically a brand new eau de Parfum 1.7oz bottle 🙂

This perfume is currently in my rotation and I simply love it. Sweet, unsmoked cherry pipe tobacco dominates to my nose. There is also a fuzzy sort of vanilla and the tonka bean note is wonderful. Not a lot of evolution from beginning to dry down, but consistently pleasant throughout.
Sillage is moderate and staying power is quite impressive. Le Bain is one that travels well and captures the underlying scent of many cities. Its grittiness will always remind me of Seattle. Completely unisex.
    An unusual, comforting beauty.

I bought this because like several reviewers here I wanted to reconnect to a scent memory from the 1990s – specifically my cousin who stayed with us for a year to learn English and wore this perfume everyday. I couldn’t remember the name, but last year became obsessed with finding the scent – I remembered that it was a soft and velvety fragrances, no sharp edges, but demure and soft-spoken (kinda like my cousin actually). I finally whatsapped my cousin to ask her if she would happen to remember what perfume she was wearing circa 1996 and not to worry if she didn’t and she surprised me by saying that she still wears it – Joop Le Bain. 20 years and my cousin still wears the same perfume – wow! Talk about loyalty.
Anyway, the notes list adelhydes but (thank God) I don’t get any of that here. Instead I get a Guerlainade-like softness, tonka or vanilla taking the reins very early and lasting for a good while. I wore this before bed once and had the best sleep ever.
EDIT: on the blog boisdejasmin, Victoria mentions that she sometimes sprays perfume into a warm bath. I think given the name and the overall aura of this one, this could be a perfect bath-time experiment for Le Bain.

I was intrigued by the prospect of noticeable aldehydes mingled with those other prominent notes (based on the votes) – vanilla, tonka, amber . . . but, alas, I cannot detect a single aldehyde here.
However, now that I have a bottle and this concoction has gone from the abstract to the actual, I can’t really imagine aldehydes doing it any good. It is what it is. Wood, vanilla, tonka . . . major tonka!
It takes 20-30 minutes to get where it’s going, and then stays there. In the first couple of minutes I would not have agreed that it reminds me of Grain de Soleil, but later it definitely does. Grain de Soleil is fresher and more bracing, whereas Le Bain is pretty darn chill. Super mellow, in fact.
Lauder’s Tangier Vanille? . . . now that I cannot agree with. It might share some prominent notes, but that’s not enough to remind me of it.
Very nice! And affordable to boot.

This is a citrus-vanilla-rose scent anchored in soft woods, the combination of which does smell a bit like a cherry vanilla, with a touch of an almond smell (not sure if that’s the addition of tonka). The lemon also makes it smell a bit fresh. Because of this, I could see having a connection to Jergens cherry almond lotion. If you love that smell, you will love Joop! Le Bain. If deep incense were added to this is would take on a baby Shalimar feel (at least the Legere version). I first purchased this fragrance in Germany when I was studying abroad in Spain in the early-90’s, so my association with it is with that time in my life traveling on the trains in Europe and exploring (I’m Texan). I re-purchased it recently because I wanted to reconnect with that carefree memory. Even so, it doesn’t smell dated to me at all. Just like all fragrances, I can see that this won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but it is nice, soft, sweet without being cloyingly so. This is a love.

On me it is a boozy vanilla, lasts for 7/8 hours, adequate for cool to cold temps.Love it , does resemble on my skin the Cologne of Missions.Very cheap.

  12. :

    5 out of 5

Sweet, soft, fluffy. I have absolutely no idea where people are getting the thick and oily descriptions from – this is the opposite for me. Its very much ‘of its time’ – it really has that early 90’s feel to it. Somehow it reminds me of reading Dolly magazines and pastel hued everything.
I do get the slightly medicinal cherry note – and a creamy amber (can amber be creamy?)…and a dash of something plasticky too but not unpleasant. It doesn’t make me think powerhouse vanilla-tonka – eg Feve Delicieuse, which also has that cherry note…Its not as thick and heavy like The Bean (ha!)…but they could be distant cousins. In fact, now I think about it, really they could be family. Different facets of a cherry/tonka/vanilla diamond.
Adding it to the Want pile – its nostalgic and comforting and innocent-sexy – bubblegum popping girls with fluffy hair on the cover of teen magazines.

This doesn’t smell like a cheap frag. It is a beautifully composed vanilla musk on my skin. It’s complicated in a great way. I blind bought this because I like the mens Joop, but thought it a little strong. I’m enjoying this one very much. It is as nice as many much more expensive perfumes. Yum.

This is a delicious tonka, amber, vanilla, winter scent. I also detect a little tobacco. The whole composition is saved from being a total gourmand, thanks to the blend of flowers, gently supporting the main actors. This fragrance does not smell inexpensive on my skin. It in fact, smells a bit Guerlain to me.

Another incredible fragrance from the house of Joop and it was instant love for me. It surely is boozy, smooth with just the perfect balance between the balsamic aspect and the vanilla. I always loved Joop Femme, but I think I like this even better. LOVELY! I love it almost as much as Jil Sander Sun, my favorite daytime beauty.

  17. :

This scent is the perfect example of why you should never buy a perfume just based on what other people think about it…bought it, hate it, it’s in my toilet currently serving as an air-freshener. I don’t mean to be disrespectfull here, just sayin’…what smells good to others may not be your cup of tea.

  18. :

    5 out of 5

I don’t think it is a cheap vanilla at all, Joop le Bain on my skin is a boozy vanilla that smells sometimes of cognac and resembles a bit Eau des Missions, has a 7/8 hour longevity and moderate sillage for an unexpensive price and has been around for 30 years.

  19. :

Nothing to write home about…. its a cheap vanilla perfume….. ignore the hype. Buy it if you don’t mind shelling out $19

  20. :

And quite cheap at that. Longevity(7 hour plus), sillage (moderate for 2/3 hours), a boozy vanilla scent to die for. Seems to be discontinued, a pity. on my skin reminds me of Cologne des Missions by Couvent desa Minimes.

    Fragrance Review For Le Bain

    Base Notes
Vanilla Tonka Bean Amber Patchouli Musk
    Le Bain (The Bath) 1989
Scented bath water in a bottle of perfume. A beautiful aldehyde floral woodsy scent of delicate texture, smooth, soapy, clean, divine, as if you are still in the shower or bath while wearing the perfume throughout your day. This is the Euro equivalent of Cool Water by Davidoff for men except it’s not aquatic but it is definitely a bar of soap and fresh and evokes a bath ritual. Drawing the bath, pouring scented bath oil and feeling your skin against the water. A sweet floral 80’s woman’s perfume, discontinued, but circulating on eBay, discount stores, warehouses and rummage sales. I found mine on eBay and it’s so perfect for the weather right now as it turns to spring. I wanted something fresh and floral but subtle. This is it.
As it opens, the aldehydes are noticeable. Fresh and zesty soapy aldehydes, old fashioned by today’s standards but very invigorating and aromatic from the start. The aldehydes give the scent a brilliant polish, a sparkling champagne bubble top. Then the citruses come through. Smells like lemon soap at first. Very citrusy with sharp bergamot and lemon notes. Delicious and a bit like the citruses in today’s frags like Paco Rabanne 1 Million and Lady Million. The citrusy scent is also enhanced by the orange blossom. When the citruses dissipate the florals show up. Beautiful powdery florals with a note of heliotrope and vanilla that give them a very powdery and sweet touch. The rose note is detectable. She is a smooth silken rose and not very bold. She is discreet and smells like a pink bar of soap with a rose scent. It smells very nice. The rose embraces white florals consisting of jasmine and lily of the valley, the latter being more green floral than white. The patchouli note is well matched with the lily of the valley. Smells herbal. Green. Aromatic.
Finally, as the florals fade, the dry notes develop as the perfume begins to settle and quiet down and finally vanish from your skin. This is a well made vanilla scent. The whole thing boils down to a vanilla which I really enjoy. But there is amber and sandalwood as well as cedar wood, giving this scent a longer performance and boost. The amber is my favorite note in this scent as it’s more spicy and resinous than the citrusy-floral start and gives it a kick and keeps it from being boring. So I am wearing this all week and loving it. Fresh and floral, soapy and clean, a fine early spring floral toilet water. I recommend this to fans of vintages, aldehydes, florals and vanilla. All of these accords are wonderfully married in this fragrance. Le Bain is relaxed and leisurely, casual and perfectly suited for every day. A good office scent, inoffensive and very refreshing. It speaks of day wear, blouses, dress shirts, and it makes you feel so very clean.
    Thank you Fragrantica & eBay
    And Joop!

I really like this, lovely sweet fragrance, reminds me of fresh hay, but I just can’t wear it. I don’t know what it is about it but when I tried wearing it it bothered me about 2 hours later and I wanted to wash it off. I can’t even explain why it makes me feel like this, I love spraying it into the air and sniffing it, but on myself, nope.
I have a couple of other fragrances that I don’t personally wear but I keep them to have a spray & sniff, it’s very odd.

This was ‘the’ perfume to own in the 1990s in Australia. It was a groundbreaker. I loved it, then liked it & eventually I couldn’t stand it. I didn’t finish the bottle. I must see what I think of it now. Fragrances are very evocative for me & immediately transport me back to when it was a part of my life..so perhaps I won’t try it again.

if you like Vanilla light by Bettina Barty then you’ll probably like this one cause they smell exactly the same . Personally i find it a very flat and boring scent nothing unusual or surprising . I own ambre et vanille by E.Coudray and le bain has nothin to do with the luxurious and rich scent of the first one. I’m willing to swap this one.

This upcoming weekend I will go to the spa and I will take a little bit of this gem with me.
It is so smooth and calming. The vanilla is soft and lingers on your skin.
Tonka makes it longlasting. This Joop! is one of my favorites. That soft balsamic vanilla always gives me an uplifting powerboost.
It is my go to scent when I go to the spa. When I sit in the sauna Le Bain is like a veil and I love that.
I spray it on my robe and my pulse points and all day long I get that soft smell of creme brulee.
I also smoke a sigaret every now and then in between my sauna visits (I know bad BAD habit) but that als gives a tobacco kick to it.

In Germany, where this perfume is originally from, Le Bain is sadly disregarded as a dated shrill 80’s vanilla powerhouse that your mom used to wear to the disco. Which is ironic, as sweet heavy vanilla continues to be a strong trend in perfume nowadays.
Le Bain smells heavy and creamy, but spicy at the same time. Tonka and vanilla are strongly present of course, but there is something gingery, peppery, a note I can’t quite put my finger on. The warmth envelops the wearer into a soft blanket, or a hot calming bath after a long cold day.
It takes the usual vanilla gourmand perfumes and gives it an unusual twist.
Sillage moderate to strong, good longevity.

It is curious how certain associations appear instantly in the head without you search for them. While using Le Bain on my skin today it immediately came to my the Hermès Ambre Narguile – however I cautiously mention that because they are neither identical nor that Le Bain looks like Ambre Narguile or vice versa. I see that there is a similar dynamic in both, which differs in Jean Claude Ellena creation due the most minimalist character and by he addition of what looks like a fruity juicy apple accorde in Ambre Narguile opening. Joop Le Bain just focus more on the amber vanillic aspect, opening with a super classic combination of ionones, spices and heliotropin. They together pass a feeling of cherry / almond with something powdery hot, spicy and warm. As time goes on the skin Le Bain becomes increasingly boozy and ambery, an aroma that brings the scent of vanilla beans when you are extracting their scent. It is a very nice perfume, cheap and in my opinion of a great performance.

Oh bliss! Being not a fan of huge doses of vanilla, I Am loving this! Great balance with amber and lemon, not overly sweet and it makes it “vanilla-special”. I can see wearing it a lot during cold months, its cozy yet sophisticated enough and unisex, IMO.

On me it smells quite like Eau des Missions by the Couvent des Minimes, which has greater longevity.but I find joop le Bain an inexpensive, exquisite scent with good longevity and moderate projection.

Boozy vanilla extract to wear. Great for vanilla lovers, like me. Not a powdery dry down on me but a caramel and tonka bean instead. Happy to have and happy to wear, not set aside for whenever. I don’t think there are current comparisons in the retail market at this time

Mmmmmm…. this just popped up on my radar, and I found a NIB bottle for a good price.
I love gourmands, vanillas, anything sweet! And this is a total win, even tho it’s a humid Michigan summer day.
It’s citrus, balmy, warm, delicious, spicy, vanilla, creamy, dreamy– I’m in love! I def get orange-citrus-like-juice in the opening, but then just a nice warm spicy vanilla. It’s uncomplicated, but def not ordinary. And I don’t find it dated either.
Way better than Casmir from Chopard, they are similar but this is way better. I love it!
OMG! This smells amazing. I can’t even specifically say WHY, I just love it, and the potency is wonderful, even into the late afternoon (put on before work in the morning). I don’t think it’s cloying at all, and I hope I’m not bothering my coworkers.
My bottle, new in an unsealed box from Fragrancenet, is perfect! I was worried it could be “off” or spoiled/bad. But nope– this is divine!!! I don’t get too much of any notes, it’s blissfully blended! And it’s a warm, but windy summer day, so warm weather won’t deter me from Le Bain!

This perfume has a batonkatonk. I can’t believe there’s no heliotrope in this, nor any almond. It’s all the combination of tonka, amber and sandalwood that does it. The scrumptious golden juice gives a hint of just how deliciously soft and silky this is. It does evoke the feeling of a luxurious bath with fine essential oils. It’s a love.

Definitely smells like Grain de Soleil by Fragonard. I love ittt!

  35. :

I sampled this today at a sale in a local drug store.
Somehow, with “le bain” being its name, I expected it to smell like typical bathroom products: soapy, fresh or clean.
This scent holds none of those features. It is vanilla-sweet, almost suffocating and it very much reminds me of that tree shaped air freshner called “new car scent”.
So, if you’re into that kind of fragrances – this might be a very good choice, since its longevity and sillage are quite remarkable:-(

  36. :

    4 out of 5

There’s something old fashioned about this scent. It’s thick and syrupy. There’s a very strong bitter almond note. Amber, vanilla, sandalwood, patchouli, all quite distinct and loud. I do not find this well-blended, the notes seem a bit “crammed” in it. It also reminds me of the oil you use to revive pot-pourri.

  37. :

    4 out of 5

This is a glorious, gorgeous scent! It is sweet and balsamic and powdery….vanilla and amber and a hint of cherry tobacco (not listed in the note matrix but it’s definitely presenting as cherry tobacco on my skin) and ooooh I’m in love. I can’t stop sniffing myself!
I’m in my 4th hour of wear and the musk is starting to come through, but in a cozy creamy way. I get hints of vanilla ice cream with the cherry tobacco and musk, and this is truly a masterpiece. I am already thinking I need a backup, and that’s saying something!
As far as the floral notes go, only a tiny bit of LOTV in the opening and very little orange blossom, but a hint of jasmine and rose make this more than just a fluff scent. The patchouli is fairly nonexistent on my skin, but this doesn’t really even need it.
    Truly a winner!

  38. :

    4 out of 5

Off the top, I get more light rose and sandalwood than anything else. And not high quality stuff. It reminded of the Rose-Santal Kleenex they sell in India and Indonesia. I didn’t get any cherry, and that’s not a bad thing. At this point it also reminded me slightly, but not quite of Gaultier2. So I’ll pay that comparison. Then just as I went to wash it off, bam, that less than agreeable top disappeared and I got the tonka-vanilla-amber-wood heart. At this point I could see the comparison here and elsewhere to Bogart Pour Homme (which is much more synthetic than this, yet still wearable and enjoyable in small doses). Not a dead-ringer, just a vague similarity. 3 hrs later, I’m enjoying it more and more, but probably won’t replace it when I’m done with it–to my nose, it’s more on the feminine side of unisex, and if you after something sort of similar but more wearable for a man, I’d say go with Gaultier2.

This was a pleasant blind buy. I agree with everyone who says it’s rich. It really is! On me, it’s resinous, ambery, thick, kinda sweet (not candy), and warm. I know we’ve had threads in the past on the forums about scents that smell “golden”, well, this is one of them. Very nice and long lasting; sillage is strong at first, but settles to a more moderate aroma. I own a few Joops now and so far, I’ve been very satisfied with them. Le Bain is good for cooler weather; late fall, winter and perhaps early spring. It’s also good for those cool, rainy days when you just want to snuggle up in a warm blanket and close out the world around you.
    Very nicely done! Thanks Joop!

Syrupy sweet Vanilla and Amber.. Delicious boozy scent. Lasts very well. Just a bit dated smelling, might be the fruit+Vanilla+sandalwood that is giving me that impression. Still beautiful rich sweet scent.

I was really excited about this one based on the ingredients and reviews, but unfortunately my blind buy was a bust. It smells very cheap and I had to scrub. Perhaps it’s what most were saying about the modern version being a very poor, very synthetic reformulation. I’ll be selling this on EBay.

  42. :

    3 out of 5

This is strange. I don’t detect any peachy note and the fragrance for me is completely different from Tresor. I have a current version. The nose gives nasty surprise sometimes.

  43. :

    5 out of 5

Ok,the reformulated version available today has nothing to do with the notes listed above.
This is a mediocre TRESOR. A confused, less sparkling but still peachy, version of Tresor that didn’t make any sense to me. Peach, peach, peach.
I am glad I had a chance to spray it instead of buying it blindly, thinking that it is something not to be missed.

  44. :

Suzanne I agree with all your observations. I can detect a very strong cherry note and also an almond note not listed here. But unlike you on my skin this fragrance has a long staying power. It has a syrupy consistence. I love this fragrance very much and I detect a gourmand and edible side in it. The combo cherry-almond reminds me the amaretto smell, bitter and sweet at the same time. It’ s unique and it is a fruity and sweet fragrance that it’s not part of the fruity/patchouli team fashionable in this storic moment of the fragrance world. Surely suitable for the autumn and winter days, comforting, cosy, embracing, warm. Form my taste it can bore if used every day. A must for gourmand and vanilla lovers.

I’m still having a sniff on this one now and then, as it once represented ideal femineity. Now it is a pale copy of itself, representing chemicals and a sell-out of something which once meant something to some young people. It’s a shame.

It seems that all of my perfumes are nowadays ‘blind buys’ because of this website! I don’t know what I expected from this perfume – something sweet, strong and dated? I don’t think that I understood the description of a ‘cosy’ scent. But, cosy it is – it seems like Halle Berry’s original perfume (was it Halle?) mixed with an equal amount of cherry schnapps and a touch of bitter almonds. I’m very surprised that cherry isn’t listed as one of the scent accords. I wonder what might be causing the cherry smell. It is really lovely, cosy and 😉 intoxicating but alas, staying power on my skin is almost non-existent.

    Joop!

scent well prepared , not at all linear , by the way it evolves and the end result is an incredibly honey smell .

First time I’m trying it. I smell lots of almonds, vanilla and cherry. Also, deeply I smell some kind of soap smell… Not sure I like it. I’m feeling like it’s making me sick, and I have no problem at all with sweet fragrances. I’m a big fan of Aquolina Pink Sugar, Blue Sugar and Gold Sugar, Lancome La Vie Est Belle, Prada Candy; but Le Bain is just not working.
I’ll come back here in case I change my mind.

The most creamy slightly powdery balmy strong woody vanilla amber scent ever. For me it is indeed a “out of the shower” kinda “sauna” scent, which is sweet warm whit a medical-herbal touch. Hard to describe but so unique and lovely, timeless.

This is a horrendous plastic smell. It reminds me of very old buses and taxis and turns my stomach inside out.
Some people mentioned wearing it after shower, as it calms them and refreshes them, so i wonder if mine has gone bad (it’s brand new!!) or is a fake..
It’s been a loooooong time since i’ve smelled something so repulsive. And the little sucker won’t let go, 6 hours after spraying it, it still grows strong.
    PS: DON’T BUY Unsniffed…

A warm cherry cigar. Think Shalimar except sweeter and not as smooth on the vanilla. I love that the cherry doesn’t smell of sickly synthetic SweetTarts candy either. For me, from the moment it’s sprayed to a few hours of drydown, this one is rather linear except it smells warmer as it develops. You don’t need to spray too much since the sillage and longevity are better than average.
This hands down is the best scent for cold weather.

I agree with TankGirl who said it reminded her of Gaultier 2. It does me as well…I would say it has a softer edge to it as Gaultier 2 is a tad sharper and in your face. I was actually shocked to come on here and NOT find tobacco as one of the notes. I found this today at TJ Maxx for $12.99, a 1.35 oz bottle of EDP. I opened the box and took a quick sniff and thought immediately….”Cherry Tobacco!”…..just like Grandpa used to smoke in his pipe! Of course I snapped it up right away. Even if I wasn’t reminded of my late, loving Grandpa, I’d still have gone for this. It’s sweet, warm, sultry, and cozy and sexy at the same time. It does have similarites to Joop for men but this is much less cloying and synthetic smelling…suffice it to say that Le Bain could most definitey be unisex.I’ve seen the mention of similarities to Guerlain’s SDV and…yes…after it begins to drydown, I sense it a bit as well.I’m really glad I found this….I’ve been blind buying some real stinkers lately.

I’m surprised jasmine get so little mention here, as that’s the most prominent note for me, along with vanilla and amber and a bit of sandalwood and patchouli. In fact, Joop! Le Bain reminds me of a warm, cuddly Alien.

Have tried, twice, to,like this one, because a niece wears it, and I always thought it was quite nice on her. But when I spray it myself, it’s offensive. It’s unusual. It’s nice. It has warm undercurrents. But there’s that hint of the aquatic about it, and I really don’t enjoy aquatic scents. Smells too fake for me. Just not right on my skin.

A blind buy for me but a good result. Vanilla, Amber and Tonka , what a great combination for a cosy warm perfume. This is one of those perfumes that you know not everyone in the room will be wearing. I do detect a dark cherry smell that is very slight. I wonder why as I know that this does not have cherry listed. I am glad that others have also noticed it and it is not my imagination. Sillage and longevity are moderate but as this perfume is not that expensive, that is ok with me.

So this was a cozy surprise :P. I really like Le Bain, it’s like a warm smooth vanilla with a drop of swimming-pool water added to it. It must be the aldehydes that makes it smell that way and it’s really nice. It never goes too sweet or cloying. I can’t pick any individual notes here but it cooks down very yummy. The projection is soft (maybe too soft?) and the duration seems to be good. The online price is a steal! Buy a BIG bottle, many sprays will be needed! 🙂 It’s on my wantlist <3
Update! I’ve got an now almost finished a bottle and moving on for a second one. It’s actually one of my favourite fragrances. It’s very unique, not cloying. A clean and fresh warm vanilla fragrance. The only drawback is the longevity. If I could find a vintage with longer duration (if those exists) I’d pay a lot more than for the current one for it.

Smoky, oily, sweet, warm, almost decadently delicious, I would say. This fragrance fits the above description under main accords: “balsamic- vanilla – woody – powdery – amber” so very well. It is clean, yet sexy and somehow “morish” in a wider sense. When I first tried it, I couldn’t shake off the feeling that it is somehow very similar to Chopard’s Casmir and several tries later, I can still see certain connection, but I am thinking now that Le Bain Joop is much lighter, fresher, easier, “cheaper” perhaps, and more playful. In later stages there is a slight booziness to it and a black (sour, Morello) cherry-like feeling that I so love in fragrances. It has a very slightly cheep, almost plastic aura, but it doesn’t bother me in the least and with a decent projection and longevity and a po
