Sometimes i´m shocked, when i see the notes.
Coconut, nutmeg, lily of the valley, coriander and even bay leaf? haha
I smell brand new wooden pencils, moss with all those red flowers, clean kiss of aldehydes and amber.
Happy new year, friends (wearing vintage loves)!

I had a bottle of this in the 1990s. The scent description in the H & R Fragrance Guide definitely made me think I would like it. I asked my husband to look for a bottle for me on a business trip to Germany, as none of her earlier fragrances were ever sold in Ohio, to my knowledge. I had already fallen head over heels in love with her first scent, Jil Sander Woman Pure.
Alas, Woman III smelled just a tad more like a men’s fragrance to me, so I gave it to my Dad. Yes, it is a high quality, very interesting fragrance.
I hope I have bought enough of the Woman Pure to last me the rest of my life. It is rich, long lasting, green, a REAL RARITY these days and has beautiful florals with it. Green florals, green chypres, green orientals are my favorites. They always smell sophisticated, giving an additional chic to a gorgeous radiant floral heart.

I bought a tester as a gift but during bringing it home it leaked a little bit due to lack of box, the spray has been pushed some times in my bag.
I was very suprised when I picked it out of my bag at home. This perfume doesn’t smell “feminine” at all! No, not at all. For me it’s masculine or at least unisex. Reminds me of old school green chypre scents like original Trussardi Uomo, really 🙂
I kinda like it! And my bag smell interesting now 🙂
Update: This smells very very very much like Boucheron pour homme, the old one! 🙂 A bit less citrusy and less herbal but they are siblings. Check them out together!

I recently bought a bottle of this as a blind buy. Unfortunately, it’s too woody for me to the point of thinking it smells more ‘male’ than ‘female’. It’s weird because I do like it but not on me! My husband has adopted it and I must say, it’s lush on him.

Beautiful ! It has been a great discovery for me . It is an intense fragrance but not overwhelming , its delicious opening has a masculine twist . The heart is floral but not on the sweet side . Patchouli loathers don’t be afraid : it is not heavy here.
I find it very well crafted and it is longlasting ( no breaking news for a good vintage ) .
This is going to be often visited in my Summer evenings !
Modern fruity floral lovers run for the hill 🙂

I love this sent, I have been using it for more than 20 years now. I am lost without it and now after the reissuing of it in the Jil Sander The Essentials line, I am afraid it is gone for ever.
It suits me like it has been made for me. When I wear this people ask me: hmmm you smell lovely, what are you wearing.
It’s in my scarves, in my clothes, everywhere…..
I am wondering the internet trying to find a sent that will do the same for me.
This is the second time this is happening to me, I used to be hooked on Empreinte by Courrèges. And I am sad…..so sad…..
Can anyone help me? Are there sites (or here) that provides you with sents that are simular? Does anyone have suggestions?
Ever so grateful! 😉

My mothers signature scent. I remember when she opens her closet this wave of divinty whiffed across my face. This is an OSCAR winning fragrance!
fergusy – :
One of the best ever made. Have ran out a long time ago. Superb classy smell and quality.
Smartstudent – :
It’s extremely unisex and reminds me a little of the original Comme des Garcons EDP. It’s much more complex and refined though. There’s a thread of honey running through the whole composition that is sweet but not sickly. It goes on very herbal and medicinal but this softens into the spices, mostly nutmeg with a little pepper. There’s also alovely greeness I get like angelica though it’s not listed here.
Floral but not flowery, the rose and carnation soar above the other flowers. The oakmoss and patchouli are present but not heavy or overpowering. The scent has great lasting power with strong but not overwhelming sillage.
I can’t recommend this more highly if you want a delicate but classic chypre with a little spice and plenty of personality.

aaatsho…This one made me sneas so much he he . so strong and peppery in the begining. not my cup off tea. bt after a few minuts it settles down a bit more gental . but this to me is a very grown up lady( im not jet:))To much nutmeg ,hyacinth, carnations ,pellargonium. and the story goes one . I nice floral but just not for me .

After reviewing the ingredients, and seeing that Jil Sander 3 is in the same Floral Chypre/Animalic family as two of my all-time favorite scents- Moments by Priscilla Presley and La Nuit by Paco Rabanne- I was insanely eager to sample this perfume. Luckily, I have access to some JS 3 in exemplary condition for its age.
After a very brief alcohol burst, I was greeted by a blast of aldehydic florals and rich spices…simply intoxicating. The similarities to La Nuit had me spellbound for about 15 minutes…then, instead of morphing to its deeper, darker side, as La Nuit and Moments do, JS 3 took a turn for the appropriate. The naughty notes of castoreum and patchouli took a step back to a relatively polite myrhh/amber accord.

First impression: woman?! really???!! smells like a man´s cologne to me. Cheap cologne. Then second thought: some kind of medicine. Yack! then after 15 minutes – hmmmm, it gets more interesting, now the sharpness is gone and i can finally smell flowers. Oh, wait, there is a light hint to honey in there also… I was really surprised with this scent, it´s complex and developing. Especially when i look on all the ingredients that are listed here. The best part of this one is a drydown, i agree.
My verdict: nice, but i have to grow up i think to wear this one.
Please do not remove this comment, since others might find it useful. Not every review should be positive, so people like me wanted to make a blind buy might find it very informative. Thanks.
Xeroxyspzz – :
the top and heart does not move me too much.
however, the drydown is fabulous, very few of the perfumes i tried so far can boast with such!

You should have asked Coty wheter they kept the Lancaster formula, or turned it into something else, and kept the Jil Sander name since it sounds good!
grrrrrr
I have one of the old formula from years ago and would not give it up for anything!

I recieved a second mail today of Coty to inform me that Jil Sander Woman III is still available and can be ordered by the parfumist.
So hang on to this lovely scent ladys and let them shops know that Jil Sander Woman III is a beloved and wanted scent!
In my reply I let Coty know that it is my believe that there still is a market for this scent if they would (re)promote it…
I am very satisfied by the way about the fact that they were so kind to answer my questions. (even twice!)
Thumbs up for Coty!
Love,
Maki

For all you ladies desperate for this one, happy to report it has a twin!!
Charlie Bleu by Revlon!! GREAT price too!

Dear Jil Sander Woman III lovers,
I think I’ve got some wonderful news: I found out that I had to contact Coty instead of the JS-website. So I did send them an email to ask if and why this fragrance was discontinued. Within two days I recieved a friendly mail in which the PR-assistent told me that Jil Sander Woman III is NOT discontinued, but that the Perfume stores might not order it anymore.
I’m not sure if these numbers are international (I asked her in my reply so maybe I’ll get back to you all with the answer to that question) but if so, one can ask these shops to order JS W III by mentioning the article-numbers:
eau de toilette 100 ml – 41080217000
eau de toilette 50 ml – 41080227000
Love,
Maki (Madelijne)
кашап – :
Hi,
I think it was discontinued because the real components plant extracts etc are very expensive nowadays, and it would cost a fortune to make to the same quality as it is.

Oh my God…Beïng a member of this site keeps me spending money…(-:
But this time I just couldn’t help it…
For what should one do if one is searching for scents because her favourite, in this case Jil Sander Woman III, seems to be gone?? Thus I bought a lot for trying out recently…
All nice, but none like Jil Sander Woman III and none of my last purchases provided me with the many compliments I always seem to get wearing JS W III…
So what would YOU do if you were in a shop you hadn’t been before and see a shelf full of boxes with Jil Sander W III??? (after pinching yourself, proving you were awake…)
You’d buy a few, wouldn’t you????
Well..I did anyway..two (of the six) large 100 ml bottles….and the salesman told me that he was still able to order them as far as he could tell, but he wasn’t sure…
I feel very guilty after reminiscing over Rem, Reminiscence, only just this morning (!)…but I just couldn’t help myself…
roma5555 – :
one more thing about the JS III:
the older formula had more dominant flowers in it, it is much better than the new one. (online mini purchase) from the states…
The juice is darker too.
korz-alexander – :
It is available on online!
That is where I got mine couple weeks ago.
It is not for little blond once, but for serious brunettes!
Евгений314 – :
I was doing a search of my favorite ingredients and this is the perfume that matched best. Of course it’s discontinued; my luck.
King265 – :
It’s an alltime favourite in my family! My grandmother wore it and my mother too. It leaves a honey trail, mixed up with sharp herbs behind you. Delicious, strong and very long-lasting scent for confident women.
