2.U – :
I don’t know why this little beauty has so little love here… it truly is divine. Yes, it’s cheap, and yes, it’s about as weak as you’d expect given the price point, but it’s lovely. It smells expensive, and it’s my number one holy grail in my never-ending quest for a heavenly cheapo that can hold its own against its high-end counterparts. I can sometimes feel a bit guilty rattling through my expensive stuff, so it’s nice to squirt something indiscriminately.
As to the scent itself, I would say super-light (easily needs 10 – 15 sprays) but it is incredibly well balanced. It veers towards soapy, but in much the same way that coco madmoiselle is soapy; i.e, never too much. It is sweet, but not too sweet. The raspberry and litchi are juicy sweet and have a lovely, natural vibe rather than synthetic. The florals are abstract and ‘faded’; and the lack of vanilla in what dry-down there is keeps it from smelling too sickly sweet and therefore cheap. (I personally love vanilla, but have yet to find a cheapo vanilla that hits the spot for me. But I still search!)
It is linear, but that’s not always a bad thing. It fades away after 3 hours, but during that time it never turns, and keeps that shower fresh feeling. It smells a little like a nice, fruity floral shower gel that scents the steam in a hot shower. As such, it works in hot summer days, blooming in the heat, and never getting stifling. I mainly love spraying it in the steamy bathroom, after an evening shower. It is so relaxing to wear on a summer’s evening at home, and when I wear it, my husband doesn’t think I’m wearing perfume, he just says I smell so deliciously ‘fresh from the shower’. The smell soothes me when I go to sleep, safe in the knowledge that it will be gone by morning, and I can wear something ‘posher’ for work.
