Perhaps a better name for this beautiful, although misnamed, scent would have been Résine Sombre. A scent that contains a beautiful benzoin resin or something similar, and very little jasmine to my nose.
The packaging itself is absolutely beautiful, and I’ve never been more appreciative of an atomister before in my life. However, it does break slightly more easy than I’d hoped for. This can be remedied by just jiggling it around.
I must say that I’m rather devastated by Bvlgari’s choice to discontinue this product as I imagine it’d continue to sell at least reasonably well. Or, perhaps, they could reduce production of it and make it a sort of collection privée. It lasts rather well, projects softly and smells absolutely remarkable.
Perhaps this is a small nod to the middle eastern market, which has a bit of a western twist. As Bvlgari is an Italian brand, this is strange to see, but perhaps I’m thinking too much into it. A bit nutty, a bit sweet, very resinous and not incredibly floral. I won’t judge this based on the name, as many scents have been inappropriately named.

Scent: 7/10. Beautiful, but can occasionally take a strange spicy/powdery path on my skin which I don’t always enjoy. Much like nutmeg.
Longevity: 5/10. Lasts about 5-9 hours depending on the weather, moisture of skin and clothes worn. Can be pitiful, or decent for an eau de parfum.
Sillage: I’ll divide this into two parts. In regards to comfort for the actual strength, you would need about 5-6 squeezes from the atomizer. That would give it a 7/10. You will be noticed. 2-3 squirts, one to each wrist and one to the decolletage would give it a 4/10. You won’t be noticed too much, but you’ll smell yourself and it would be much more comforting. Perhaps that is best, as this can be quite strong.
Individuality: 3/10. It’s been done before and will be done again. For the price, however, it’s much more affordable than other scents like this and of this quality.
Overall: 6/10. I’m not going to lie, it’s not my favourite scent. It has its aforementioned ups and downs but it’s not a bad scent by any means. Don’t buy this expecting a jasmine bomb like Jasmin Rouge. The jasmine is very soft and, thankfully, non-indolic. It’s a love, but just a soft love. Not something I reach for often.

My nose can’t find the jasmine in this whatsoever, and I wish it did, because florals might lift the solemnity of the bitter citrus and resinous woods. On me, this fragrance is serious and somber, and quite masculine. I’ve tried wearing it in various seasons, hoping that a certain temperature might bring some brightness, but I’ve come to the conclusion that it just isn’t me.
Edit: I haven’t been able to give it away despite the fact that I don’t think it suits me- because it is so authoritative and strong, I’m saving it for some important future meeting, or a day that I really want to feel boss.

First off, this scent is so very classy and elegant. Sure to get you compliments from those close to you. It doesn’t project much, but it’s effortlessly sexy and close to the skin.
Secondly, I sadly couldn’t detect any jasmine or florals. However, the resins are beautiful and full of incensey goodness.
Lastly, yes: the sprayer bulb is totally dysfunctional. I broke it taking it out of the box. I just jiggled and jammed it back into place. I just wish one could remove the bulb atomiser 🙁

Ugh! Jasmin Noir, why do you hate me so much? I love this fragrance and I own the original in both edp and the edt and neither have any lasting power on my skin. I purchased this L’Elixir version hoping it would be the one that lasted longer on me. This one is definitely a resin heavy sweet floral. It’s all resins from the start and reminds me a bit of Balmian’s Ambre Gris. I get the jasmine and tuberose but alas it doesn’t project like the beast I want it to. It smells divine and the atomizer is a nice and fun throwback. But if you have tried a perfume with a atomizer you know that they come with a whole host of issues (occasional leaking, uneven application, difficulty spraying with non dominant hand on opposite wrist, etc.). It’s too soon to tell if this atomizer gives any trouble. The smell is wonderful and I highly recommend it, but I know now when I wear it that it will be a fleeting romance for me and sometimes that’s ok, as long as you know what to expect.
*As always – this is my unique skin and nose’s interpretation of the fragrance and in no way means this will be everyone’s experience with this scent.

I love this fragrance, it’s a very grown up scent and not too heady. My only gripe is that the atomiser is very unreliable and I have to shake the bottl and squeeze several times to get a spritz….no chance of over spraying!!

I just got this, 1.7oz, for $23 at fragrancenet.com. I love it so much. A lovely, deep, elegant and sensual scent. Such a reliever from the tired and tiresome fruit punches manufacturers continue to punish us with. The more I wear it, the more I like it. Gorgeous for winter.
BRUIFEEFFINIA – :
A lovely mature scent. Strong resins with sweetness mixed in there. This was a blind buy and I do like it for the cooler months. It will be perfect for winter being nice and bundled up then going inside to sit in front of the fireplace the heat making this lovely scent move through the air mixed with the smell of the burning logs. I think that sounds like perfection.
I don’t love this scent but I do like it. I think I have been so hooked on the gourmands lately it is hard to break free and embrace something so different. I have a strong feeling this will most definitely grow on me into a love!

I have Jasmin Noir in the EDT, EDP, L’Essence, and L’Elixir AND…. I have to say:
ARMAF HUNTER for WOMEN dupes them all! What a score!
I saw Hunter compared on the L’Essence page, and it’s really affordable. I’ve not heard of Armaf before (and I’m a perfume junkie with 350 bottles) and it CAN be hard to find… I found a 100ml of Hunter at maxaroma.com for $22.
I will comment on lasting power/potency/sillage after a proper wear tonight. Right now I have a tissue test, and even before I sprayed the bottle I knew this was just like Jasmin Noir. YUMMY!
Oh bummer. Turns out, Hunter has very little potency/longevity/sillage. Meh. Just no potency. Maybe it’s my nose/weather/chemistry tho.

Somebody help me ; what’s the different between this fragrance and Jasmin noir?
10maniua – :
Love Love Love it! It’s everything a girl would want in a perfume. I had Jasmin Noir, it was nice but this one is perfect. I always need a perfume that I can smell for hours, this one is it but not over bearing, just lovely. Now I have 4 of Bvlgari’s fragrances, really like them all, especially this one. Another good blind buy!
Uzik_11 – :
well I had the Jasmin Noir Elixir Eau de perfume and to be honest I put a lot on , and all I smell is strong pink pepper I wonder if the others smell any different ??
vyskiy – :
Creamy, honeyed white floral with a touch of sweet woods. Much richer than the original but not nearly as resiny as the L’Essence version.
kutusha – :
I love this scent!! Sexy, creamy, gorgious, deep & sensual. The bottle looks beautiful.HOWEVER!!! I don’t use this so often because I have to squeeze the atomizer hundred of times to apply enough amount. It’s so tiring & I tend to apply too much! (;-;)
Egorov600 – :
The fragrance lasts long enough but doesn’t have much sillage on me from the very start.
The bulb atomizer is extremely inpracticable. Very user unfriendly. Imagine if it doesn’t work and the bottle still full.

I discovered that Jasmin Noir L’Elixir is the perfect ‘escape’ from the haze of sweet over toned fragrances which are taking over the world. Sometimes you just have to be different to be special.
Jasmin Noir L’Elixir has shared a rather memorable memory with me – I first smelled it on a Bvlgari boutique when I had the privilege to go there. Obviously, I fell in love and instantly wanted to buy it. It was quite expensive for me at that time, so I waited two whole years to buy it. As I grew up, my pennies fortunately grew up too and then that is how I finally bought it for myself as my 17th birthday gift. If not for the beautiful scent, it is also a precious souvenir.
The beautiful magic that attracted me is the black bottle with that classy atomiser. I’m somehow attracted to black for some reason – I’m totally not a goth teenager though. What luxury designer would want to put an ugly composition in that beautiful bottle anyway?
Speaking of the fragrance, it is as lovely as the bottle. The oriental scent opens with sweet and zesty citruses like honeyed mandarin and bergamot, rosy pink pepper and a sweet accord. I understand the sugared orange peel they’re talking about. That was a good way to start the composition. After a while, the top notes stand back to give wat to the highly seductive heart notes; the flowers of the composition bloom. Carnal flowers – white jasmine and tuberose in their highest appeal go in full bloom with intimate almonds scattered around. Then, the base notes steal the spotlight with a trio of sparkling musks and balsamic resins hypnotising the senses with fir resin accompanying them quietly but I can’t help but notice it. Overall, Jasmin Noir L’Elixir is a unique and balanced Oriental Floral composition from the house of Bvlgari.
No flanker can compare to the unique seduction of Jasmin Noir L’Elixir. Even similar oriental fragrances have been made, but this stands aside from all the rest because of its aromatic resins to give the scent a greenish nuance we hardly find in oriental compositions. It is well-rounded, balanced and potential. It lasts satisfyingly long with moderate projection. It is such a rare gem from the house – I guess only the worthy and fortunate ones get to own it.
I would write a thousand acknowledgements for the house of Bvlgari and the creator/s of this scent for creating a beautiful composition. The scent of a jeweller indeed.

JN L’Elixir is quite beautiful- a sweeter, more-gourmand version of the original (the sugar’d orange-peel note is quite prominent, and yes, I also sense vanilla), with a base that is tweaked to be more ambery, with less of the coumarin-woody facet in the original. I’m glad I own a bottle, and reserve it for special occasions.
Though grand in its luxurious elegance and limited availability, I would, however, place it third in line in the JNs according to my own taste: L’Essence gets my #1 vote for its solemn woodiness, then my first love- the original JN, followed by L’Elixir.
Bottle: I have to agree with another commentator about the squeeze-bulb atomizer: it looks stunning on the dressing-table, but sprays very weakly… it didn’t start spraying an adequate amount for me until after about 20 sprays… so, I’d recommend buying one of testers that has a capless, plain nozzle- less pretty, but definitely more functional.
orel025 – :
Vanilla? There’s no vanilla listed but i can smell it very strongly. Almonds! Lovely dense resinous scent. No flowers here. Really beautiful. However i consider the pomp very unhandy, it releases tiny cloud of mist, to apply it up to my standards i have to squeeze it more than 15 times.

The tester bottle of Jasmin Noir L’Elixir looked so stunning on the shelves of my local department store that I just had to try it. Unfortunately, as attractive as the puff atomiser is, it’s not very functional. I spent nearly fifteen minutes with the sales assistants trying to get the damn thing to spray, but to no avail. The testers in other stores also malfunctioned, so I almost gave up on ever being able to test Jasmin Noir L’Elixir.
Thankfully while browsing JR Duty Free I found a tester that worked. If you were to buy yourself a bottle of this flanker, I would decant half of it into another bottle just in case. It looks like the atomiser and its on/off function can easily break.
In regards to scent, Jasmin Noir L’Elixir is slightly better than the original EDP. The scent pyramid worked from the base notes to the top notes when I tested this fragrance. Essentially everything was back to front.
Jasmin Noir L’Elixir opened with a thick, balmy accord, not unlike a heady blend of patchouli, resins and white woods. It smelt kind of sexy and mysterious; very ‘noir’.
Unfortunately this fragrance becomes fresher and more citrusy as the scent develops. The jasmine note is clean and feminine, with a juicy, almost candied orange accord. This blend is not unpleasant, just a tad disappointing, especially since the opening was so promising.
The drydown smelt almost identical to the original EDP’s drydown. A very musky jasmine scent with pink pepper and earthy patchouli. The only thing I can say in favour of Jasmin Noir L’Elixir is that it had slightly better lasting power. I think Bvlgari should lay these Jasmin Noir flankers to rest and release something new and exciting.
alik70 – :
I liked this enough to buy two, but I haven’t purchased any in the last six months, mind you I haven’t purchased anything in the last six months. I have never tried L’Essence so I can’t speak to that.
I found it lasted well, was subtle and mixed great with a couple of my other ones. Mostly I mixed it with others as I do with all but two of my scents. It took summer to deeper places and brought up the scents with stronger dry-downs.
