I tried to love this one because I love Cherry Blossom in general but sadly it lacked a freshness that I need cherry blossoms to have to be wearable. L’Occitane’s Cherry Blossom has a nice freshness in addition to its sweeter muskier notes. However if you prefer a warmer or powdery cherry blossom, this Bath and Bodyworks is a very nicely designed example of the note, for those who are generally unfamiliar with this fantasy note in perfume.

Pear, rose and rice are prominent in this one while Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy Now 2010 (the one in Pink/Purple bottle) has dominant plum note in it. Totally two different fragrances. I love them both.
This one has a very interesting dry down process (as found in classic perfumes with powdery note). It smells modern and classic at the same time. I truly don’t understand WHY it is called Japanese Cherry Blossom!?!?!?!? There is absolutely NO cherry blossom of any kind in it! Still a lovely fragrance with gorgeous bottle design.
I blind bought this one thinking that it might smell something similar to Jo Malone Cherry Blossom Cologne (which I could not stand the sweet, loud and bold cherry note in there), as I found a very great deal for a new and full bottle online. I was more drawn to the bottle itself than the juice in side when I made the purchase. Now I’m glad that I bought it as it has nothing related to the other beast-y cologne at all.

This is definitely a fragrance that I have been wearing on and off for at least 12 years.
I remember when I first started wearing it because a friend of mine gave me a small size of the lotion and I really liked it. My best friend for whatever reason didn’t really find it appealing because she said it smelled “weird and kind of like a boy”.
Now, I do have to say, that she’s not completely wrong and she has grown to like the scent by the way.
The only way I can truly describe how this fragrance smells is just intoxicating. It’s masculine, feminine, sweet, earthy, spicy, fresh, floral, bright, muted, and just plain beautiful.
I remember the older formulation of this fragrance and it is pretty sad to admit that it’s not the exact same as it was before. The older formulation had a little bit more of an ‘exotic’ edge with a creamier base. But I do have to say, smelling them side by side they are very similar.
I just wish Bath and Body Works and other fragrance houses would stop reformulating their iconic scents. I’d pay more for a better quality product, i’m just saying…

Well, I was getting nervous because my JCB in the square bottle was running low and I have been treasuring this scent every fall. Well, the purchase of the “new” bottle was made and what can I say? It smells nearly identical to my square bottle; I’m so glad I was worrying for nothing. (I’ve written a review for the square bottle as well). I also might add that the body cream has fantastic throw and longevity and can almost be worn alone, it’s so fragrant. There is something so deeply intoxicating about the marriage of florals with cinnamon/sandalwood accord that it smells spicy but fresh at the same time. Also the addition of fruit makes it very rejuvenating for my senses- the apple and pear work perfectly in windy, fall weather. For $34.50 this is honestly a steal!
I constantly get complimented on this as it does something with my chemistry but honestly I feel that the composition itself is overlooked. It really is a fabulously constructed feminine perfume. It has such great balance and depth to it that when I wear it I really feel so comforted and don’t want to reach for anything else. I’m in my 30’s and love this scent so seriously this is a scent for any woman of any age (not just the teenies that B&BW targets) and I’m not embarrassed to say that I own and love Japanese cherry blossom forever! People seem always surprised when I tell them which scent I’m wearing too. Classic and well- done.
I will say to Bath and Body Works that I hope this never gets discontinued and that they make a stronger incarnation of this with darker facets for the upcoming fall/winter season. It is absolutely gorgeous on its own but they did do a stronger, EDP version a while ago that I hope will come back as a special edition.

I find this to spicey, I do percieve the wood and the cinnamon kind of headache inducing for me…it has good longevity.I dont like it. Maybe as a room spray.

Just bought this at the new BBW store in Australia. Great to have it here now! Anyway we had this as a choice in buy 2 and get 1 free and I selected this. It is quite nice but so light it’s surprising. It doesn’t last long at all compared to other cherry blossom fragrances. It’s pleasant though.

    Lovely body mist!
My daughter bought this for herself when we walked into our local Bath & Body Works store and I also happened to like it. This was the 1st time we agreed on a fragrance. This is not bad but it should have had better projection. I also have the body lotion and it helps in giving it some more projection but not by much. The body lotion matches up with the fragrance.
This is a mimosa and pear scent as it begins. I can definitely smell the pear. It then turns into a rice. I wonder just what it’s trying to say to you: Oriental Japanese bath product? The perfume jar of a dynastic Empress from long ago? A cherry blossom from Mount Fuji? It’s sweet and feminine and delicate like actual cherry blossoms if plucked out one by one.
The cherry blossom is more of a powdery rose and I don’t think this has an actual cherry blossom note. There’s cinnamon and sandalwood and the faintest trace of an incense.
    Beautiful

Japanese Cherry Blossom’s most recent formula smells really good…for about 30 seconds. This is the lightest body spray I have ever come across. It comes and goes way too quickly for me to enjoy it. And it’s a pity because it looks like it would have made a really fine fragrance. Stick to the 1st issue with more fruit notes. This is a soft, delicate pear scent with mimosa and woods. There’s also a bit of cinnamon and rice. Definitely rice. It smells like powdery rice if such thing was possible. This is not bad but it’s cheap and it doesn’t last long.

I really don’t know why this one is so popular. To me it just smells like someone imagines microwaved cherry blossoms would smell, and not even REAL cherry blossoms, some discount knock-off cherry-like blossom. I don’t understand why it is one of Bath & Body Work’s top sellers.

(If anyone would like to try this, happy to trade decants for my want list.)
This one was a disappointment to me. It’s not a bad scent, but I blind bought it thinking it would smell like cherry blossoms. It does not. Pear is more like it.

This scent is a very comforting scent for me. It’s so different from the other fragrances I have. Smells like sweet rice milk and vanilla musk. Definitely like to use this at night and during the colder months. It’s a very cozy and exotic scent that I love to smell when going to bed.

I find this to be very strong of something. I have always felt that this smelled like bologna or some kind of processed meat. I have grown out of this fragrance.

An old favorite – I used to have a bottle of B&BW Cherry Blossom lotion in high school that I remember using one hot summer day in my new car, blasting rock & roll and dreaming about vacation and the future, young and carefree and hopeful.
This iteration of cherry blossom scent is musky and sweet, with surprising, pleasing depth and warmth, a fruity floriental. It’s soft and powdery overall, rosy floral, with strong heart dominated by a juicy created “cherry” scent, and a nose-tickling warmth from the cinnamon and sandalwood. It has the same smooth rice undertone as a bottle of sake, and just a hint of smoky incense.
Sillage is moderate for me and it lasts about 6-8 hours on my skin, but much longer and sweeter on fabric. I find that I am happier if I spray it on my bare body after showering, since I have gotten nauseated after getting too much on my clothing.
Japanese Cherry Blossom does well at being just a touch exotic – a bit spicy, ambery, and smoky – while still being easily accessible for young and casual perfume wearers. It seems like the ideal application amount varies greatly amongst individuals, so I’d suggest carefully experimenting with application on first wear.

Got this as a gift(along w/the shower gel and lotion) and I don’t care for this scent at all IMO its way too heavy on the floral note…..I’m happy its in a small bottle so I can use it up and be done with it….B&BW has soooo many other better scents than this! and for those that might like this scent this scent lasts all day and night.
    * All the versions of this scent give me migraines.

This is an intresting japanese cherry blossom, this has more depth than the Body Fantasies one. I really like the warmth to this perfume, it’s really great for winter. I can smell the vanilla rice, incense, and cimminon the most. I can smell the other notes, but I feel they play a supporting role in this perfume. A few sprays go a long way. This can be a bit strong for me sometimes. It’s really great for colder days. I would wear this day, and night time. Overall I give this perfume a 7/10.

Im looking for a cherry blossom perfume and this is the second one Ive tried, it has a nice mix of scants, the woody base and pear blend well together. The only problem is it seems very faint and doesn’t last long at all. Unless maybe I just cant smell it after a while on myself? Id like it better if it were more intense.

This has been repackaged but the juice is the same as the square bottle. When Japanese Cherry Blossom first came out, I fell in love with it. It was so unique to me. It was sexy yet playful, dark yet sunny. Not super spicy and a fragrance I felt I could wear all season long. Until….. I was in a small room with someone who must have bathed in it. It was so strong, it made me want to throw up… gave me a migraine. I gave away my EDT and moved on. It took years to get over that. Could not smell it on people without feeling ill. I eventually got a shower gel, then a lotion, then the body mist. I now own another bottle of JCP in EDT, it’s a pretty fragrance only if you spray with a light hand. I am back to enjoying JCP.

This is such a pleasant fragrance. Woodsy and incense mixed with florals. It smells very mysterious and exotic but at the same time, so feminine!

I tried this side by side with the original version of the EDT and it smelled exactly the same to me. Really nice and lightly spicy, nothing like the lotions of the same fragrance.
