A gorgeous gourmand fragrance that wears on skin like silk fabric. It produces a very solid scent bubble and sillage trail, without screaming. Longevity is outstanding which provides its glorious drydown for hours on end. Creamy almond milk lightly spiced with saffron in a perfect ratio. Think genuine whole milk, soon after it leaves the cow, not the watered down 2% or skim milk, when mentally picturing yourself taking a bath in it. Extremely addictive!

Xerjoff Italica is an exclusive offering of the UK shop Harvey Nichols, where it is available for 275GBP or roughly $368 US for a standard 100ml bottle. I was fortunate enough to obtain a sample via a split.
It’s surely a gourmand, a blend of almond and milk, with an emphasis on these two notes, combined with vanilla, toffee, saffron, woods, and musk.
It remains focused around the almond and milk, though, despite the other elements adding a woody, herbal, and candy-like character at times. That said, though, Italica is not overwhelmingly sweet, by gourmand standards, and I’m actually left wanting a bit more of the sweetness. It holds back and remains sophisticated but I want a bit more indulgence, though I’m not sure from which source, exactly (milk, almond, vanilla, toffee).
For comparison’s sake, it’s not bready like Serge Lutens Jeux de Peau, nor is it effervescent and soda-like like Acqua di Parma Mandorlo di Sicilia.
Italica is a satisfying entry, just a tough sell at the price, but nonetheless a superb performer, certainly one I’ll continue to try in the coming months. Maybe it’ll grow on me further.

I love this fragrance so much eventhough it was off my price limits I bought it haha. It opens with almond milk which is the most powerful note. There are no spices for me in this just almond milk and vanilla. It makes me want o eat my arm off when I spray it. I will be using it for special events but I bet that I will start to wear it everyday haha. Its great for the winter makes you feel comfy and also powerful.

My favorite gourmand. The spice anchors the milky creamy sweetness, stopping it from being cloying, the saffron is not at all medicinal so therefore very subtle or subdued by swathes of velvety musk. There’s no hint of raspy crunchy almond; rather a creamy marzipan dumpling wallowing in a warm vanilla milk bath. The woody notes round everything up nicely. This is my ultimate comfort fragrance and feels like the luxury it is. For me it is my exception to the rule; my normal scent loves are the classic chypres; complex and elegant, for drinking dry Chablis by the waterfront. This scent is like lounging on furs and silk pillows in front of a crackling fire in a log cabin with an aromatic ammaretto cocktail.

After wearing it all day, I feel compelled to write a few words about this hard to get beauty, available only at Harvey Nichols. I feel it would rest much more comfortably in the gourmand category than the oriental it was designated. It’s carried mostly by a marzipan note and a distinct white chocolate smell, that’s what the listed notes end up smelling like to me. I enjoyed it so much, it feels so appropriate for this winter cold. It’s incredibly long-lasting, with flawless projection. I guess it could be called a dupe for Dolce Acqua by Profumum, but it’s so much more sophisticated and polished. And it completely drops the oily note I seem to smell in every single Profumum.

This was not at all what I expected! My first impression was that this was spicier than I had imagined, it has kind of a ginger and cardamom thing going on. There are no spikes to these spices though, the effect is very soft, fuzzy and muted. Certainly a sweet bubble gum-y kind of scent. After ten minutes this develops more almondy with a slightly mentholated effect, I could swear there’s star anise hiding somewhere. The scent is sultry and thick textured like a thick, creamy almond paste.
I would place this in the same family as Mandorlo di Sicilia by Acqua di Parma, with the drydown of Kenzo Jungle L’Elephant, a hint of Chinatown, some of Paris LA by A Lab on Fire, a bit of Hypnotic Poison.
Overall, a sweet almond scent with muted spices and root beer like facets. My boy said it smelled like mandelkubb, a pastry we have in Sweden. It’s a cookie made of bitter almonds. A quite interesting gourmand. Longevity is very impressive, it stays on the skin for more than 24 hours. Sillage is not overwhelming.

A i nema onu uljanu notu koju osječam u svim Profumum Roma mirisima.
