Description

Paco Rabanne launches Invictus, its new fragrance for men, which represents fresh and sporty creation in relation to the other perfumes of the house. The fragrance comes out in July 2013. Invictus, which is Latin for “invincible,” represents power, dynamism and energy.

The fragrance opens with fresh grapefruit and a marine accord that lead to the heart of aromatic bay leaf and Hedione jasmine and a woody base of guaiac wood, patchouli, oak moss and ambergris.

The bottle is designed in the form of a trophy. The fragrance is available as 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette with an accompanying collection.
Invictus was created by Veronique Nyberg, Anne Flipo, Olivier Polge and Dominique Ropion.

This scent just dont deserve such hate, really. Invictus is a simple, sweet, synthetic scent with a bubblegum vibe. There is no depth in this scent tbh. But still it smells really good and womens love it, especially young ones. If u like sweet scents and you want to grab women’s attention – go for this one! U will get a lot compliments for sure. If u are looking for some interesting, deep, signature scent go for another one. Overall rating – 7/10.

Sparkling and particular fragrance. The marine notes in the opening phase remind the foam of the waves on a windy day.

Great scent! I don’t think it deserves the hate it gets. Yes, it is synthetic but it smells a lot better than most colognes on the market and lasts a really long time. I use it mostly for night/clubbing but it can also be used for an everyday as long as you don’t spray too much.
Overall great scent that ladies love. Highly recommend

I don`t understand the hate for this fragrance. Fresh, sweet and fruity. But still masculine.

This was recommended by friend, and I like it so do the women. It is fresh and sweet on me. Great summer scent.

Hi there. This is a POSITIVE review, but I have things to say about it. I wanted to love this, but although it has its own identity, overall this smells somewhat generic to me after a few minutes, like your typical department store fragrance. I mean, there’s nothing wrong with that. The opening is good, but I’ve smelled it before, and it only lasts a couple minutes. I smell no bubblegum, just a somewhat sweet chemical on top. It’s pretty-smelling. I like it whatever it is.
I totally get why people love Invictus, because it’s really nice as a whole and has that “we’re going out” vibe to it, but that’s about it. My problem with it is that it’s somewhat boring, not that it smells bad. It obviously smells synthetic, but it’s not asphyxiating. I can sniff and sniff and sniff. It gets points for being smooth while smelling bright. I wouldn’t mind smelling a sillage trail of Invictus while going out. It would get my attention.
What I dislike about Invictus is that the bottom is this thick base that reminds me of raw egg yolk, which is also in Eternity Aqua and Polo Blue Sport, two fragrances I gifted away because of that. I don’t know what it is, but it’s off-putting. Is it the guaiac wood? Is it the patchouli? I don’t know. I haven’t smelled raw ingredients to know. Thankfully, it’s not so evident here. It’s there, but toned down.
There’s nothing super unique about this fragrance’s OVERALL smell in my opinion, whether sprayed on paper or on my skin. It’s good, but I wanted to be wowed by it as a whole. Notes-wise, though, it’s not a one-trick pony. I must mention I don’t get tired of smelling it on my hand, and it’s not linear. It evolves like three or four times while drying down. So that gets it many points.
After 40 minutes, a sweet-ish, floral feminine note starts to open, like a night flower. Yeah! Is it the jasmine? After the hour mark, the egg yolk-y base loses power, and a soapy/powdery base takes command over it, but it’s not bad at all. It’s nice. I’m more of a top notes guy, but this newly developed base note is good. Hmm, women could pull off Invictus with a light spray.
So yeah, while the fragrance as a whole is not unique to my brain, what I find unique is the way it develops over time, revealing new, easily distinguishable notes. This is not an overall blurry scent like Dior Sauvage, which I can’t figure out. When I think Invictus is starting to die down, it gets a new wind of strength and starts developing more and more while projecting other notes. So while the smell is somewhat unexciting as a whole, the development is very interesting.
Age group? I think both younger and older men can pull it off with a nice attire. In my opinion, it smells modern but also classy. In a positive way, it has a bit of the popular late 90s fragrances’ DNA. I TOTALLY get the hype even if I don’t love it. Maybe I will soon? Thanks for reading and God bless you!

Quite nice smell, but more than 2 sprays can be nauseating. After starting to wear Creed fragrances I can feel very clearly how synthetic it is. Also too sweet. Invictus Aqua is much fresher and summery. This is not a summer fragrance imo. For summer I recommend Aventus, Virgin Island Water, Green Irish Tweed and Invictus Aqua. But I still actually like the bubblegummy smell.

  9. :

    Absolutely lovely smell
It opens up with a sweet aquatic vibe, the sweetness is not overwhelming like what you see in the one million line at all. It radiates freshness too somehow. I absolutely recommend Invictus!
    Silage above average
    Longevity 5 hours
    Projection 2 hours
    Scent 9/10

Invictus is a nice fresh fragrance with a sweet bubblegum vibe. Not really sure why there is so much hate for it. Yes it’s mainstream and somewhat synthetic smelling but the scent is great. Definitely a compliment getter.
Sillage is great and projects at least an arms length. Longevity is great, easily lasts 6+ hours on the skin and more on clothes.

I can totally see why there are threads lamenting that this is everywhere. At least in part, because it’s oversprayed everywhere. There’s a synthetic note I can best compare to cleaning agent+ something metallic that’s common to some of the Pacos. This is what gets the hate. The other notes aren’t bad but that weird calone/ cascalone thing is very off-putting.
I suspect not everyone smells it that explains why some love it and some hate it.

I love this fragrance. There are some extremely weird reviews on here when I comes to this frag that I can’t make head or tails out of! First off most of the really negative feedback is kinda ridiculous. Or some of the comparisons?? A common one I definitely do not get is the bubblegum vibe or accord. To me the only frags I have smelled that had a bubblegum vibe was ultra male. And jpg superman eau fraiche I findhas And even stronger bubblegum vibe to it. But not invictus. I find that it’s a really really well done aquatic fragrance it’s clean slightly sweet hint of citrus with a bit of a watery salty musky touch most likely from the ambergris and seanotes. Over all an amazing take on aquatics.

i sprayed invictus at the mall along with invictus aqua and a dark bottle of invictus.all smelled of bubble gum to me.women like it but its not for me but i would surely wear it if it was given to me.dior sauvage is a winner,i tried that.

i get that egg smell from all fragrances containing water or sea notes except the original acqua di gio, i think it’s a synthetic component called cascalone.

Does anyone get an egg yolk kinda smell from this .. it’s weird I’m getting it ..

Personally, i like the bubblegum accord. I’ve found it in niche and designer fragrances. When i say bubblegum, its a positive not a negative. A compliment and not a detraction. Its the smell of sweet sugar, flavored. I think it should be in the database of genres here. If you are a realist who doesnt deny the scientific evolution of fragrance- it is the smell of today. This modern era in history. Its where we are now. In fifty years or so, they will say “old school bubblegum“ the same way we say “old school barbershop”. Invictus to me, is the original bubblegum. I bought it specifically for the bubbblegum accord in the opening, and the sweetness throughout. Though theres a note to me that makes it a bit heavy in extreme heat, its a fresh and sweet aromatic that works very well in cold weather as well. Performance- you already know. Im a fan of artistic bottle art as well and the little trophy has its place. Its not my number one, maybe not in my top ten but i enjoy Invictus. It has its place in my collection, rotation and in history.

Don’t look at the chart above. Go out to a mall, spray this on your skin and just enjoy the very sweet scent. Women tends to love sweet fragrances and I don’t know the science behind that fact. I think most of the people that voted here didn’t even smell this in the first place. I think they watched a negative review from a YouTuber and they just never even gave Invictus a chance and voted negatively. Guys, I know it’s nice to watch and hear Youtubers about their certain reviews on fragrances, but don’t let them decide for you if you’re going to like or dislike a perfume based on their own experience. Everybody has a different body chemistry, you wouldn’t know if a fragrance smells good or bad on you unless you have sprayed it on your skin and let your body chemistry do its job. Don’t let someone on the internet decide for you, get out there and do your own fragrance detective work and then decide if a fragrance is good, great, or bad. Goodluck out there ladies and gentlemen.

  18. :

it’s good, it projects, it lasts for a good amount of time and since it’s a few years older and gets met with some hate (for some reason i don’t understand) not a lot of ppl wear just regular ol’ Invictus that much.
IMO if you are looking for something that smells really good, get’s Women to compliment/notice AND not many people wear it (relative to things like Sauvage / BdC and other super popular frags) that much.
You might catch someone else wearing it when you do, maybe; but compared to Sauvage which you are almost guaranteed to smell at least 3 other guys wearing something Sauvage-like (so many scents smell similar to Sauvage now it’s crazy).
Opening: 6/10 (i don’t mind it, it’s interesting that they did bubblegum but i don’t love it, it’s just a nice change from citrus opening 24/7)
Projection: 7.5/10 it is pretty good, about 3-4 FT at it’s peak and then goes to maybe a solid 2-2.5 FT which is pretty good
Longevity: 8/10, lasts with a very strong 7 HRS and then it slowly (very slowly) fades so imo that’s pretty great
Uniqueness: 6.5/10 so is it “unique” no, but because it’s not that popular anymore you can wear it without fear of smelling like someone else (most of the time) it’s a great fire and forget smell
Attractiveness to Women: 7.5/10 I feel like Women dig this but only after they get tired of smelling Sauvage but to me it doesn’t instantly make you more interesting like Sauvage does (the first few times anyways) but it’s a good solid changeup to something like that and still very sexy/attractive so when a woman smells you wearing invictus and she hasn’t smelled it in awhile (or ever) because you’ve been wearing something like Sauvage/BdC or something similar, she will dig it and will want to get a little closer.
I don’t really care why people hate on this fragrance, it’s a good frag, it’s got a good sent, it’s priced so fair it’s almost a steal, it projects, it lasts and women like it.
oh it smells “synthetic” to some snobby asshole, who cares? I don’t, if it smells good to me and to women then why would i care about some Frag snob who wants to show off his/her “nose”?!

Smells really good.Sweet, slightly fresh and woody fragrance that exudes youthfulness and a
playful character, definitely for the teens 13+.Opens up with a sweet yet fresh bubble gum vibe and drys down to a sweet slighty soapy vibe but still maintaining that bubble gum vibe. awesome compliment getter and very good with the ladys, one of the best teen fragrances out there.Has really good projection and longivity lasting me about 9 hours +. overall a solid 8.9/10.

I made a review a long time ago, but wanted to reaffirm my love for this.
You often hear a lot of people openly dislike this and like some other great fragrances I think a few niche people try to be influencers and some people are trying to hide this.
You get a blue bubblegum opening, lovely sweetness, aquatic nature and something that smells full and really projects.
For a designer fragrance this smells very good and performs very well. I get 6 to 8 hours and good to great projection and great sillage. This is not noticeably synthetic.
I have turned many heads with this and gotten positive attention. In the sun wear 2 sprays and for partying wear 6
One of the best designer fragrances you can buy and highly recommended. If you want something even sexier go for JPG ultra male !

At first this is very in your face and overpowering. After a few mins though, I find it to be a very nice well rounded blend of citrus and marine notes. Later on it has quite a nice dry wood scent that still projects well. Definitely an awesome warm weather, sporty frag and it lasts a really long time and projects fantastically all around. Especially compared to other aquatic and citrus frags.

If I mix Mont Blanc Individuel with Nautica Voyage I get a similar vibe with Invictus.
Overall I would say I’m neutral toward this one. Not a big fan of it, but I can see why a lot of people love it.

I don’t like this scent when I test it on myself. But today I smelled it on my father and I really liked it. But then again, my father has a certain very manly body odour that makes any fragrance 10x better. Strange how body chemistry mixes with fragrances.

Sometimes I wonder: if this fragrance was bottled in a jar, named Eau de Lutensio, made by Annick Byredo, sold at a very high price in certain hidden places in Paris, will it get all the hate it gets? But the thing is: it’s a particular bottle, named Invictus, made by Paco Rabanne, sold at a regular price anywhere. And… smells really good. Young and vibrant. Pleasant and uplifting. Long lasting and not linear.

So i bought this fragrance a couple days ago and wore it yesterday to go to the cinema with my female friend.Surprisingly she kept complimenting on my fragrance and she said she loved this thing more than any other fragrances i’ve worn. Earlier this night i wore this to hang out with my friends and god this is such a compliments magnet, and young girls do get crazy about it. I highly recommend it for young guys. !00% for me no regret ,btw i’m 20 and my peers just love this thing.

As soon as my first bottle of Invictus ran out, I got a new one from my girlfriend because she liked it so much. Whenever we meet up and I have this perfume on, she lingures around my neck to get more out of the scent. I would really recommend anyone to try this out!

I live in a tropical country, and thought of getting something aquatic.
Perhaps, it is my body chemistry, so it smells good to me. My girlfriend likes it a lot. She uses it herself. I realised there is something feminine about it. Still, I use it as it does not get as cloying as some of the fragrances I have despite the hot weather, and it does feel fresh.
Top note projects really well. After less than an hour, for me, it becomes subtle. I hardly smell it at all. I do get whiffs though when I sweat, which makes it great for summers.
Been my go-to for the past two months, very safe.

Great opening. But after that it dries down to a horrible scent as I can smell.
But, the projection scent it gives off is apparently appealing to others since I´ve recieved compliments wearing this one.

Very pungent for me. Not for me. People like it but I don’t on myself. I will recommend to not blind buy it. Check and try it first. My cousin sent it for me from UAE but I gave it to my younger brother and he loves it.

Smell pleasent I guess, but I got way too many spring summer fragrances that I rather wear over this plus not a fan of bubble gum fragrances. Pass for me
Also, I tend to avoid any fragrance that is loved by women under 30 because they tend to love annoying sweet scents that I can’t wear because how sweet they are.
Yeah definitely not a fan of crowd-pleasing panty dropper fragrances

Summer is coming, and that means, that it’s time for Invictus! This is playful semi-teenage fragrance with the sweet bubblegum vibe and I also feel some watermelon notes. After a couple of hours it mutates into salty aquatic scent, and guys, it’s so pleasing…It can be a little bit annoying and “in yo face” and also not the most original scent on the planet, but IDGAF. One of the best colognes for summertime. 7,5/10.

Women like Invictus so much. Ignore all of the hate. The fragrance is fresh and fruity and you can wear it basically anywhere. Invictus Aqua 2016 gets all the love but if you are used to wearing the original you actually miss the “bubble gum” quality that everyone talks about. This one is more special than aqua in my opinion and less pretentious than intense.

  45. :

Invictus is a really nice fragrance for spring and summer days. sweet at the same time fresh. and very good option for beginners and teenagers. it doesn’t deserve all the hate it gets. alright we get it, you have a good nose and you can detect what is synthetic. PLEASE stop posting same reviews like “generic” or “synthetic”.

I don’t understand the hate for this fragrance. The scent has an aquatic, fresh scent that doesn’t offend or overwhelm. When my husband wears this, it smells fresh, clean and crisp and it’s an everyday wearable scent for warmer days. From my perspective, I prefer this over 1 Million as the sweetness of that scent can be irritating to the nose. Yes, the longevity isn’t great but I think is a great EDT. Just ignore the hype and test this out.

some people say invictus aqua is what invictus should have been…but on my skin it’s a white floral aquatic type scent…so i would rather say invictus is what invictus aqua should be(though i never tried it,heard that it’s the same thing with less strength )… i noticed jasmine the first day i sniffed it

This fragrance is great. I understand the hate for it but to me this scent is inviting, fresh, and reminiscent of candy. If someone made cotton candy soda this is what it would smell like. Its sweet but not nauseating sweet so this thing could work all year around. If you’re old AF this might not suit you. Anyway I’m not sure where this review is going so ill give this juice a 7/10

I am a 48 year old, Big, Bald, Bearded and Tattooed man.
I love this fragrance and wear it as much as I can. I enjoy the sweet bubble gum in the opening. The dry down is amazing to me. I wear this because I love it. I wear it for me. If someone other like the way I smell it a plus.

  52. :

    4 out of 5

    I don’t understand why all this hate…
Very good smell, long lasting, sexy, compliment drawing, good for summer days.
Invictus opens bracing and fresh, yes, however this zingy quality is attributed to an accord of grapefruit, spice and metal. The metallic tones bring an unusual piquancy to the citrus and spice, creating an intensely invigorating effect akin to taking a lap of victory.
The exhilarating start quickly subsides in to a heart of warm herbs and patchouli. In the base things get even warmer with salty ambergris, spiky woods and a touch of amber. Hints of metal and grapefruit continue throughout and ensure that even at its very warmest Invictus is still lively and ready to play.
Awesome fragrance … it smells sweet but it’s masculine …. all season fragrance … ladies love this …compliment is guaranteed.
The problem is that its fragrance is too famous, i can smell it on every second man i meet.

I don’t see how a fragrance that women love and last 8 plus hours and smells nice could be hated so much,im giving a regular persons point of view instead of some fragrance science reviewer, this fragrance is a 8.5 out of 10 for me

This scent will transport you to a seaside escape in almost any destination. I live in Florida and Invictus is perfect for conveying a beach vibe.
If you wear this juice and don’t live near the beach, don’t fret, you’ll ‘almost’ feel like you are with this beautifully crafted fragrance.
I only read a few comments here, one hating on this frag, but unjustly because they don’t own it and wear it on the daily like I have.
Fresh, unique, masculine and long lasting = Perfection!

  55. :

    4 out of 5

Not a love, but certainly a like. I get The bubblegum vibe, the citrus, an aromatic nature, and the sweetness.
This has great longevity and projection for the price and an aquatic.
Niche heads and Enthusiast might dislike this one, but it does get positive attention and is a bestseller for a reason. No doubt synthetics are here, but it is still pleasant.
One of the best teenager to 30 year old party or outdoor fragrances. Better than Sauvage in my opinion.

  56. :

    3 out of 5

Invictus is very good at what it does: it is a crowd pleasing beast targeting audiences in their 20s who like clubs, bars, parties and the likewise. It differs from it’s competition like 1million(also PR), Eros, Ultra Male, etc, by blending the a salty Aquatic accord (made popular by Acqua di Gio and Cool Water) with a strong, imo cloying sweetness. This is an very interesting blend, and intruiges me but doesn’t wow me in this. Combining the two and adding the interesting note choices of jasmine and bay leaf somehow manifest the so called “bubblegum” accord that many, including me, detect. That is not my issue with this though. I dislike the screechiness of this blend. It is loud and harsh, in your face and sharp. I like Sauvage, but somehow that pulls off screechy better than this.
Another issue is that Invictus is very popular and no longer smells unique.
Though I dislike Invictus, the Intense flanker is very very ice to me. It smells like a darker, denser, more complex and softer version of this. If you dislike this, smell the Intense.

I love Invictus, and I have wanted too. However, Armaf Rixos is about £20 for 100ml, and smells VERY similar. It does the job very well with great performance. The bottle is far better quality than the Invictus plastic trophy!

Haven’t got many bottles yet, only a couple, but do have a lot of samples (like 30) but out of all the frags I try for some reason I always come back to invictus. Great for a young man (I’d say around about under 26/27) strong performance (good projection for a good 2-4 hours, and you can still smell it on your skin the next day) and an absolute lady killer (young women love the smell of this stuff, and some older women too). I can see why this wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I like it and the girls do too so I think alot of the hate is unfair (I think the rating should be more like a 3.5-3.7 not a measly 3.1). Although the opening isn’t the best of smells the drydown is great and it lasts forever so don’t just listen to the haters, although I would say don’t blind buy it because it’s not for everyone, definitely get your hands on a sample or test it in a shop and see what you think because this is some good, potent juice.

Awful smell. Strong and longevity, but absolutely not my kind of fragrance.

There are entirely way too many people hating on Invictus just to hate. And probably never owned a bottle and/or have never given Invictus a honest day(s) wear. Invictus is a beautiful multipurpose, all season fragrance for men of varying ages, that reeks of masculinity and confidence — PERIOD.

Not sure why Invictus gets so much hate.
Let me tell you a story. I bought a bottle of Invictus in September 2017. I thought it was pleasant enough to add to my collection. The next day, I was wearing it when my girlfriend came to visit. We hung out on the couch watching a movie for a couple of hours, then she went home.
When she texted to let me know she made it home safely, she said “I can still smell your cologne on my shirt and in my hair. I don’t want to go and take a bath, because I don’t want to wash it off.” The next time she came over, she brought her pillow, and asked me to spray it with Invictus for her so she could smell me when she went to sleep.
After that I was convinced that buying this fragrance was money well spent.

Typical aquatic fragrance. The Calone note is very preeminent, making it smell, to me, of beer.

This is my champion frag! From the opening to the dry down love every bit of it. Lasts 7+ hours even on my skin! I don’t know why some people hate it. This is my personal favourite.

From a teenager’s perspective: this cologne is really good.
I wear this to school every few days and get complimented by the girls around me (granted I only hang around 2 girls at a moderate distance). Either way, they always compliment me. I do ask girls to rate the scent just to get an idea of what they think. The average: 7/10.
    Duration: 6+ hours
Sillage: good for the first 2-3 hours then it drops off
Scent: smells very citrusy in the beginning, then smells like bubblegum and a good shower
Overall, it is a fresh scent that girls(teenagers) seem to like with good duration and sillage.

I would say that the deoderant smells better than the edt, with more citrus in it. I would not wear it tho. Don’t fit my image of myself.

I LOVE this on my husband, I want to jump him when he wears it. Awesome choice.

I am a woman, but I purchased Invictus because it was somehow fresh and IMO unisex due to it’s sweetness. Another reason why I bought it was that it has a monster sillage and longevity considering that it is a rather fresh scent.
Well, and I have learned that this is the downside of this fragrance, at least for me. I enjoyed it in the beginning, but after a while I didn’t like this sweetness that is surrounding you the entire day anymore.
I think one reason might also be the atomizer. The liquid you get out is no fine dust, but rather a big, concentrated splash of Invictus.
I generally like how Invictus smells, but it is too harsh for me. I received many compliments though.
I think a nice and less assaulting alternative to Invictus are Davidoff Cool Water Wave or Mont Blanc Legend Spirit.

Its good. Not the best imo, but very very good cologne. People have compared the bubblegum like fragrance to CK Escape, but it smells more grape like imo, or blackberries. Not bad at all.

I honestly love the fragrence community and reading the difference of opinions for this one. When I first had this, a little diaper leftover spilled on the carpet, and to cover it, I just blasted this stuff on it, as it just didn’t set anywhere as far as opinion. For me to get anywhere, I need a week of spontanious uses. Reading some of your sometimes hilarious explanations help me get what I am trying to say.
First couple of days it smelled like Axe spray, police departments usr it as Mace alternative. Then I would spray in a mist and get it. Then as someone well put it, spray, and wait 5 minutes. I’m starting to acquire a increasing frequency of wearing it and really like it. But bit as much as those around me. This stays, right next to my bottle of Dolce Y Gabbana Light Blue and Burberry Weekend, that fruity opening I love. Mr. Burberry mastered this taste I love. You guys are hilarious.

My ace, my wingman, my champion!
The negative press this scent gets in the community is unwarranted, undeserved and frankly, it pisses me off. This juice is a masterpiece. Not a masterpiece in the typical way used to describe some fragrances. No, but a masterpiece in that it’s creaters checked off every box needed to make the perfect modern scent. It’s extremely inoffensive. It can be very brash if you spray too much, but in no form does it stink. The ultimate people pleaser and WOMAN LOVE THIS STUFF. Versatile. Maybe one of the most versatile scents on the market. Wedding, funeral, beach, mountains, Detroit, Paris, club, work, hot, cold. Anywhere. Longevity? Work day(8 hours, then skin). Projection? BEAST MODE. Price? Moderate. Originality? One of the first in its genre. LOTS of imitators out there- Azzaro Wanted, Sauvage, Legend Spirit, etc..
    10/10

As a woman I love this on my husband . his signature is black orchid so this one is quite different. Yet it does have also a feminine side o it, which makes it interesting unlike all generic perfumes out there. I picked it up for my husband cause I was drawn to the smell which to me is quite sexy and fresh at the same time.

Mostly people say, it is very synthetic, so what? you want the pure ingredients, so stay away from this stuff, not need to try anymore, now a day I don’t believe any pure ingredients for perfume except some niche and artisan brand, even Dior, Hermes, Chanel, Gucci
