It was the review of Indus on this site that first got me curious about niche fragrances, and specifically about DSH. Thanks to the miracle of the internet, I was able to pursue instant gratification and ordered a tiny sample of Indus which I excitedly packed in my gym bag for today.
Indus starts out with a punchy cinnamon-alcohol blast that quickly recedes to a smooth spicy scent. It certainly reminded me of a steaming mug of spicy, milky Chai.
At first, I thought it had faded within the first hour, but I was mistaken—it seems to kind of pulsate, stronger one minute and weaker the next, as well as to evolve on my skin.
The honey is making it sweet, round and a little sultry. I’m always afraid of honey notes, as I find they can be cloying and overpowering but this is not. There is also a nice musk giving structure and depth to the fragrance, holding up the spices very nicely.
This is definitely a skin scent, minimal projection here. My skin is fairly dry today which may impact longevity; it seems to be winding down at about 3 hours, which is a bit disappointing. It does seem to be becoming one with my skin, a pleasant phenomenon which makes the scent seem very natural and harmonious as it dries down.
